    1 dead, 1 injured after car crashes into Philadelphia Fire Department truck in North Philly, police say

    One person is dead and another person is injured after a car crashed into a Philadelphia Fire Department ladder truck in North Philadelphia on Saturday, police say.

    The crash happened around 12:10 p.m. at the intersection of West Lehigh and West Sedgley avenues, NBC10 reported. The firetruck was traveling westbound along West Lehigh Avenue on the way to an assignment, when a car traveling north on West Sedgley Avenue allegedly cut in front of the truck, causing the two vehicles to crash, authorities say.

    The car then struck an unoccupied parked car, 6ABC reported. A 23-year-old passenger in the car was taken to the hospital, where she died just before 1 p.m., police say. 

    The driver of the car, a man in his late twenties, was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition, officials say. 

    The crash is under investigation by Philadelphia police’s Crash Investigation Division. The victim’s identity has not yet been revealed, and there is no word on whether charges will be filed in the case.

    Passenger killed after car cut off firetruck, causes crash in N. Philly

    One person is dead and another is hurt after a car crashed into a firetruck in North Philly, according to a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Police Department.

    The crash happened around 12:10 p.m. at the intersection of West Lehigh and West Sedgley avenues on Saturday, Aug. 24, police said.

    A Philadelphia Fire Department truck was traveling westbound along West Lehigh Avenue while on the way to an assignment when a car traveling north on West Sedgley Avenue cut in front of the truck, officials said.

    When the car pulled in front of the firetruck, this resulted in the two vehicles crashing, according to officials.

    The car then hit a parked vehicle, police said.

    A 23-year-old woman riding as passenger in the car was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead just before 1 p.m., police said.

    The driver of the car was identified as a man in his late twenties. Police said he was taken to a nearby hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

    The Crash Investigation Division is investigating the crash.

    Firefighters are battling a 2-alarm fire in North Philly

    Fire crews are battling a fire in the area of Parrish and Ridge in North Philly Monday afternoon.

    The Philadelphia Fire Department is asking people to avoid the area to allow them access to put the fire out.

    Firefighters said it is a 2-alarm fire along the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue. More than 100 PFD members are on the scene.

    SkyForce10 is over the scene. Firefighters can be seen fighting the fire from the front and the back of the building.

    At this time there is no information on if anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire.
