Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain welcome second child – see picture

Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards and her fiancé, professional footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, have officially welcomed their second child together, sharing the sweetest photograph of the newborn, as well as her name, to mark the occasion.

Taking to Instagram on 17 January, the 32-year-old announced the baby’s birth, alongside the caption: “Alanis Valentine”, and both Perrie and her older son Axel can be seen holding little Alanis.

In her comments section, friends and fans inundated her with support, including her beloved bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who penned: “Perfect little angel’, and Girls Aloud‘s Kimberly Walsh, who added: “The best news so happy for you all”.

The couple first announced Perrie’s pregnancy in September 2025, by sharing a video of their four-year-old son Axel kissing his mother’s baby bump to their social media pages. She shared the news just weeks after revealing, during an appearance on Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, that she had suffered two miscarriages.

The Little Mix member explained that the experience had meant that she was “on edge” while expecting Axel, but once she made it past 12 weeks it became special to her: “When I was pregnant with him, I loved being pregnant, it was one of the happiest times of my life. I just love carrying babies.

“It was lovely, but I was a bit on edge thinking, ‘Oh gosh, I want to get past the 12 weeks, I want to get past this’. And when I did, that pregnancy was complete bliss, it was perfect.”

Perrie and Alex’s unique living situation

In a somewhat unusual arrangement for a couple who have been together for more than eight years, Perrie and her fiancé have never lived together.

During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show in 2024, she revealed: “When he was playing for Liverpool and based in Manchester, it was so easy to do the back and forth but Turkey is a little bit further and he doesn’t get a lot of time off.”

“We’ve never lived together, the eight years we’ve been in a relationship, we’ve never actually lived together,” the ‘Touch’ singer elaborated. “We’re very laid back and very chilled.”

However, that doesn’t mean that things can’t get a little hectic from time to time! Speaking exclusively to HELLO! just before the Capital Summertime Ball in 2024, she told us: “There’s a lot going on today,” referring to the fact that her football partner was playing in the Euros, which had just begun to kick off at the time.

“You know the beginning of Home Alone when everyone’s whizzing around and they forget Kevin? That’s how I felt this morning,” Perrie joked.

However, she did also share with us that Alex and their son Axel were in the crowd at Wembley Stadium there to cheer her on for the big show, adding: “Everything’s chaos but in the best way. And they’re all out there watching now.”

Perrie Edwards cries in Girlbands Forever as she recalls aftermath of Zayn Malik split

Perrie Edwards has burst into tears while recalling the fallout from her split with Zayn Malik in Girlbands Forever.

The former Little Mix star, 32, began crying and asked the cameras to stop rolling during the latest episode of the show.

Perrie explains how the public scrutiny and abuse from online trolls became almost too much to bear.

The pop star had been engaged to One Direction star Zayn for two years when their romance hit the skids. And although its claimed Zayn dumped her by text, Perrie bore the brunt thanks to bitter 1D fans.

Girlbands Forever: Perrie Edwards on her split with Zayn Malik

Perrie recalls her break-up with Zayn in the third episode of Girlbands Forever, which has been airing on BBC Two. She had got engaged to him in 2013 but their split quickly became public news in 2015.

Perrie says in the documentary: “You’re hurting enough as it is, never mind everyone having an opinion on it. Everyone wants to know your business and feels like they have ownership of it. You can’t escape it.”

The show goes on to explain how Little Mix soon released Shout Out To My Ex. The single was Perrie’s way of seeking revenge on Zayn. It is still to this date the band’s best selling single.

“You may as well sing about it,” Perrie says.

But the fallout from Perrie’s break-up with Zayn had a huge effect on her. By 2017, Little Mix were in the midst of a world tour and were due to fly to Las Vegas. Perrie, however, hit rock bottom.

She remembers: “It is hard to deal with things like that publicly. It just hurt and I went through a lot behind the scenes. It does have a huge impact on your mental health.”

Perrie goes on to explain how she ended up in hospital on a drip once in Vegas. She is left in tears as she remembers the pressures she felt “letting down” bandmates, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson (the latter of whom was still in the group).

“I didn’t want to go,” Perrie says. “I was so exhausted. I tried getting out of the trip and when I got there, I started experiencing panic attacks. I ended up in the hospital and on a drip.

“I didn’t want to let the girls down. They had to do it without me and I hated it.” Starting to cry, she continues: “When you’re in a group dynamic, even though you’re going through stuff individually, you can’t then be selfish.

“I tried to put on a brave face a lot of the time. I didn’t want to let the team down.”

Perrie is then comforted by a Girlbands Forever crew member.

Girlbands Forever: Tulisa Contostavlos

Episode 3 of Girlbands Forever features Tulisa Contostavlos. The former N-Dubz star was a judge on The X Factor in 2011 when Little Mix was formed. She was also the girlband’s mentor on the show.

Tulisa says: “I wanted to find the next great band because that is what I knew and what I felt I’d be good at. They were really adorable. They had this really sweet innocence about them.

“I knew the struggle it would take to crack a girlband. But I was ready for the challenge.”

Tulisa says she pushed back on show management who wanted to “sass them up” in heels. “They needed to be really relatable,” she explains.

Does Perry still speak to Tulisa?

Little Mix announced their split in 2020. It came two years after Jesy had quit the band. But does Perrie still speak to Tulisa? The good news is yes, she does!

Last month, Tulisa shared a supportive Instagram post when Perrie released her debut, self-titled album. She wrote: “The lil’ muffin tuned queen. So proud.” Tulisa used to fondly refer to Little Mix as her ‘muffins’ during The X Factor.

Perrie had also spoken about Tulisa weeks before. She told The Independent that being on the ITV show was an “emotional rollercoaster:” She added: “But luckily we had Tulisa. And Tulisa was so passionate about us not being led to a place we didn’t want to go.

“If there was anything, we’d just go crying to her. She was so hands-on, she would get involved straight away.” Perrie added: “Tulisa was at the house, making our dinner. Roast dinners, curried goat. She invited us over to her apartment a lot. She was like a big sister.”

When is Girlbands Forever on?

Sadly, Girlbands Forever has just three episodes. The first two aired on BBC Two on November 1, with the show concluding tonight (Saturday November 8). It starts at 9pm and is on for one hour.

Perrie Edwards on acne, agoraphobia and her pregnancy beauty routine

When I meet Perrie Edwards, it’s backstage in an empty bar a few hours before an intimate solo performance. She’s dressed in a sheer, electric blue gown that accentuates her baby bump. “Hiya, are we filming?” she asks as she walks through the door, her glam squad in tow. When I shake my head she grins, kicks off her four-inch platform shoes and settles on the sofa, curling her bare feet underneath her as if this is just a cosy chat between girlfriends.

That’s the thing about Perrie. Despite a stratospheric career in the band Little Mix, which became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, and a successful debut solo album, she still has an infectious girl-next-door charm.

Perrie is funny, relatable and completely unfiltered – whether she’s talking about motherhood (Perrie is mum to four-year-old Axel and is expecting a second child) or her battle with acne, which is why she is CeraVe’s ambassador for their Stop The Pop, Rock The Patch campaign.

Here Perrie Edwards speaks to Glamour about skin, self-care and empowerment…

When I was in Little Mix, I would sleep in my makeup and then just go over it in the morning – no wonder my skin was atrocious…

Growing up I never had bad skin. It was more that I just hated my skin. I was very freckly, so I was very insecure. Nobody around me had freckles, so I was the odd one out and I felt really ugly as a kid. And then, as I started to get older, I was like, “No, they are so nice and I need to embrace them and now I love my freckles.”

But then I started to get spotty. It was more when I was in the band and maybe down to the amount of makeup I was wearing. It was a vicious cycle because the more spotty I got, the more I wanted to put concealer on and then there were the different time zones, lack of sleep, all of that.

It was crazy. We used to have scheduled glam for four hours, so if we had an 8:00am start, it was a 4:00am start for us. Me and the girls would sleep with our makeup on because our schedule was so intense. I could wake up the next day, have touchups and go to work, but have a few more hours sleep.

Now I never sleep with makeup on. Your skin can’t heal when it’s got a full blanket on, can it? The Lancôme makeup remover is a godsend and it’s so gentle when I’ve got a full face of makeup on. I soak a cleansing sponge in it as it kind of sucks all the makeup away. Then I’ll use my CeraVe oil cleanser.

I used to feel like I needed to whack the makeup on to feel pretty…

It was a phase, as well, because trends change, makeup changes and what was cool isn’t cool anymore. I love that girls today are stepping out with lovely tinted moisturised faces and their spot stickers on.

This whole ‘clean girl aesthetic’ is probably my favourite because I just love not having to try as hard. In the mornings I’m useless. I just cleanse and then use my CeraVe spot stickers. They’re so good and once they’re on, you can’t even see them, which is fantastic.

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Friday

Breaking news: it’s Friday. So that means we have a whole week’s worth of new music. After Billie Eilish basically broke the internet by announcing a new album this week, everyone’s wondering who else is gearing up to release some future Grammy nominees. My guess? Harry Styles. (Or is that just a wish?)

Either way, we have to focus on the present. While I’m overly ecstatic for it to be the weekend, I’m also equally excited to be listening to all these songs on Spotify. Plus, Coachella starts today, and I know a lot of you are going to need to add some songs to your pregame playlists.

As always, I’ve combed through every New Music Friday playlist, I’ve read all the press releases, and I’ve done my own research. Here are some of the best new songs to listen to that were released today. Let’s get listening!

Sabrina Carpenter- “Espresso”

Sabrina Carpenter is having herself a year. Ahead of her first Coachella performance this weekend, she releases “Espresso”, a fun-loving hit single that makes you want to lose all your worries and just move. Carpenter is having fun with her life, and it reflects her music. Written in Paris, she was in her traveler mindset just appreciating what the world had to offer. One of my favorite releases today, “Espresso” is a certified banger.

Sabrina told Zane Lowe,

“I don’t think I’ve ever gone into writing an upbeat, confident record being like, “I really want to write an upbeat, confident record.” I have to be in that headspace and I have to be in that mood. And this was one of those times in my life where it was just like, I just thought I was the shit in the moment.”

Perrie- “Forget About Us”

Perrie Edwards may not be a familiar name by any means…formerly a leading member of Little Mix, Edwards’ vocal power set her apart from the crowd early on. “Forget About Us” is Perrie’s debut single as a solo artist, a pivotal song that’s both upbeat in melody and melancholic in lyricism.

Written alongside Ed Sheeran, she reminds us in the same track that although relationships don’t always last, they’re still dynamic moments in our lives that shape who we are. Edwards says,

“I look back on past relationships and do think happily about those times. Do I want to be there now? No. It didn’t work out that way and if it was supposed to be it would have happened. Relationships have been a huge part of my life and they’ve made me who I am now. I think it’s a nice sentiment to be honest about and it’s super relatable.”

Peter McPoland- “Speed of the Sound (of you)”

Peter McPoland is a one-of-a-kind talent in the music industry. A special force who can write, produce, and record a record by himself and have it sound flawless, McPoland has an ear for a hit track. As his prowess grows, the songs get better…which is exactly the case with “Speed of the Sound (of you).”

McPoland’s first song of 2024 doesn’t disappoint by any means. It’s a bop that’s worthy of playing over and over. Unique in its own way, Peter McPoland delivers yet another earworm-y song.

Dua Lipa- “Illusion”

I’m getting a bit upset with Dua Lipa for not releasing any sort of ballad and declaring that her album would sound different than the rest…however, I can’t deny that her disco-pop style is great for partying. Although she hasn’t strayed far from her usual style, Lipa shows us she knows what it takes for a chart-topping record…and she’s sticking with what works.

“Illusion” is every bit the 80’s workout sound you know and love.

Future, Metro Boomin- “We Still Don’t Trust You”

Metro Boomin is the Jack Antonoff of rap, if that makes sense. A highly regarded producer and creator who can work with the best-of-the best and create a Grammy-nominated album every single time. Every time you hear that iconic “Metro Boomin want some more” intro, you know you’re getting a banger.

“We Still Don’t Trust You” is an absolute vibe. A song I could see myself driving on the highway to at midnight, it’s more beat-heavy than about lyricism. Plus, a few melodies from The Weeknd make this even more of a brooding, moody tune that just works.

Maggie Rogers- “The Kill”

Maggie Rogers has gone for the kill with her new album, Don’t Forget Me. A songwriter to her core, Maggie Rogers is highly regarded as one of the best indie alt stars of our generation. This album deserves its own separate article, but “The Kill” is one of her best submissions.

About a relationship that has gone sour, Maggie Rogers reflects on how things used to be good…but now they’re just going for the kill.

Chlöe- “Boy Bye”

Chlöe delivers an electric breakup anthem with “Boy Bye.” I immediately added this to my playlist because the song encapsulates being so done with a partner, needing to leave them because they don’t treat you right. She bids her boy bye with this upbeat R&B track, telling him to go back to his mother because she won’t even cry.

It makes me even more excited for her debut album, In Pieces. The world is in desperate need of an R&B diva who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is…and I think we’ve found her.

Suki Waterhouse- “Fun”

New mother, Suki Waterhouse, is wasting no time getting back to her music. In “My Fun”, she yearns for a partner who loves her like she loves having her fun. A folksy rock track that is reminiscent of classic greats like The Beatles, “My Fun” is the perfect ending to this playlist.

Fun loving, scream worthy, “My Fun” is an easy listen. Suki Waterhouse makes no mistakes with her music.
