Kick Up the Flavor With This Savory Seasoning
Seasoned Salt combines salt with a perfectly flavorful blend of herbs and spices. It is a quick and convenient way to season meats, vegetables, eggs, and everyday dishes with one quick shake.

What is Seasoned Salt?

Seasoned salt (sometimes called seasoning salt) typically includes salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. From there, you can add other ingredients to suit your taste.
Flavor: This salt is my go-to and has the perfect combination of savory, slightly sweet, and smoky flavors

Skill Level: No special tools or skills are needed for this DIY seasoned salt.

Serving Suggestions: This salt can be used in a variety of recipes. Sprinkle seasoned salt on eggs, grilled zucchini, salad dressings, chicken breasts (or baked chicken thighs), or any savory dish that needs salt and seasoning. You can add it before cooking or after (or both)!
How to Make Seasoned Salt

This couldn’t be easier; simply combine all of the ingredients in a bowl until well mixed.
- Salt: For the best results, use a finer sized grains of salt. It will season more evenly and mix better with the spice additions. Make sure to use a thinner-grain pepper so it mixes in well!
- Seasonings: Use sweet paprika for added warmth and color. Be sure to use garlic powder and not garlic salt, since the salt has already been added. Don’t forget the sugar, as this rounds out the flavor of the spices.
Favorite Variations

Whatever you are adding, just ensure the size of each ingredient is roughly the same for even distribution. To achieve this, use a spice grinder or a mortar and pestle before adding.
- For Tex-Mex Seasoned Salt: Salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cumin, ground red pepper
- For Mediterranean Seasoned Salt: Combine salt, garlic, and onion powders with ground rosemary and basil.
- For an Italian seasoned salt recipe: Add in basil and oregano. I love adding this to Italian dressing!
Storing Your Seasoning Salt

Store seasoned salt in a labeled spice jar in a cool, dry cupboard for up to 6 months. Keep it away from moisture so it stays loose and fresh. If it clumps, give it a shake or break it up with a spoon.

Blackhawk Sues Moocho (Pepper Rewards) For $65M Loan Default – Doctor Of Credit

Blackhawk Network is suing Moocho Inc. (a Delaware corporation with HQ in Miami Beach, FL) over a $65 million secured promissory note and for breach of contract. Blackhawk claims Moocho defaulted on required interest payments, admitted it was winding down operations, and now owes $67M+ in loan principal, interest, taxes, and attorneys’ fees.

The loan carried 8% interest for the first 12 months, and 10% thereafter. Moocho pledged its business assets under a security agreement.

Moocho responded that it was winding down operations and had $15M in senior secured debt ahead of Blackhawk.

The Churning Angle

For those of you who were living under a rock, Moocho’s gift card app Pepper Rewards was all the rage in 2024. For months, they offered double-digit rebates on top brands — often 10% back on Amazon or Walmart gift cards, stacked on top of your regular credit card rewards.

Similar deals in the past were risky, but Pepper was different: you got the card instantly, and worst case you still had credit card protections. That combination made it relatively safe for churners to go big.

What shocked us most was how long it lasted. It started in January 2024 and continued until Pepper’s “temporary downtime” in April 2025. And for many months along the way the deals just kept improving.

Behind the scenes, heavy-volume users were given a special portal with separate rates, much higher than the public rates available to regular users.

That model might make sense for a fast-scaling company (lose money to acquire millions of users, like Uber). But pushing ever-bigger discounts to a tiny group of power users? Hard to see how that was sustainable – there was no real customer growth, just volume growth.

The whole Pepper saga was fascinating.

One final note: the Pepper app is still live, and your account history and stored gift cards are still visible. You might want to download copies of your transactions and gift cards now in case the app goes defunct.

(Report) Pepper App No Longer Earns Bonus Points On Amex Business Gold – Doctor Of Credit

Reader TysonC reports that Pepper app no longer earns bonus rewards on the American Express Business Gold card. Purchases used to be considered part of the Computer Supplies category which can earn 4x on the Business Gold card if it’s one of your top categories. From September 14, 2024 and onward it’s now coding as General Retail and is not eligible for that bonus.

Presumably the Business Platinum card will go down from 1.5x to 1x as well due to the change.

It’s unknown whether the BofA Customized Cash Rewards cards will lose their Computer Software category bonus as Visa/Mastercard might operate differently than AmEx.

And there’s certainly a chance that it will still count as Online Shopping for BofA cards and ShopYourWay card, and possibly for the Blue Cash card as well.

Ranch Potatoes
These ranch potatoes are an easy take on our fave roast potatoes recipe.

Baby potatoes are tossed in ranch seasoning and baked until they’re tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.
Budget-friendly potatoes are always on the menu and pair with everything.

Using baby potatoes (or red potatoes) means no peeling and quick prep.

Double or triple the batch and serve them all week long with chicken or meatloaf.
You’ll Need Only 4 Ingredients

Potatoes: Baby potatoes have thin skins that don’t require peeling and are less starchy than other spuds, but Yukon golds or russet potatoes will work too as long as they are cut to the same size.

Seasonings: Buy or make homemade ranch seasoning mix (and avoid the artificial flavors and preservatives). Switch out the olive oil for leftover bacon grease for a smoky flavor and to save a few more pennies!

Variations: Season your spuds to match the menu! Try using a taco seasoning, a zesty Cajun, or everything bagel blend. For extra crispy potatoes, sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on them before baking in Step 4.

How to Make Ranch Roasted Potatoes
1. Cut the potatoes in half.

Only 4 simple ingredients are needed to make these savory roasted ranch potatoes in the oven.

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Wash and dry potatoes and cut them in half.

In a large bowl toss potatoes with olive oil, ranch dressing mix, and pepper until evenly coated.
