A Minnesota Vikings fan was injured after being struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run while leaving AT&T Stadium following the Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday, Arlington police said.

Arlington police officers responded to a parking lot in the 700 block of Stadium Drive about 11 p.m. on Dec. 14 to investigate the auto-pedestrian collision, police said.

Jordan Boll, 30, told officers that he was walking back to his vehicle after the football game when a dark-colored pickup truck hit him.

Boll and a group of his friends, who are all Vikings fans, were coming out of the stadium after the Vikings beat the Cowboys that night when the crash happened, his mother wrote on a GoFundMe page.

Boll was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Multiple witnesses at the parking lot told officers that the pickup driver did not stop or render aid and “instead exited the parking lot and drove away,” police said.

“All I remember was someone hitting my left side. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground with 20 or 30 people around me. I kinda blacked out after I got hit,” Boll told KDFW-TV.

Boll is now back home in Minnesota recovering his injuries.

Investigators are working to identify the hit-and-run driver, Arlington police said. No arrests have been announced in this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Miller at 817-459-5782. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.

A hit-and-run driver in Berkeley injured multiple pedestrians on Tuesday in different locations, allegedly driving onto a sidewalk and later attempting to carjack another person before eventually being arrested, authorities said.

The Berkeley Police Department said dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting pedestrians hit on Belrose Avenue between Claremont Boulevard and Derby Street just south of the UC Berkeley campus. Callers reported that the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and hit two people, police said.

While officers were responding, dispatchers updated that the suspect had fled west on Derby Street, and the suspect vehicle, a gray BMW sedan, was found abandoned in the area of Garber Street and Piedmont Avenue next to Emerson Elementary School. Police said the suspect attempted to carjack another vehicle at that location before running away. The unidentified suspect was quickly located and arrested two blocks west on College Avenue.

A spokesperson for Berkeley Public Schools said there was no impact to operations at Emerson Elementary as the suspect car was abandoned outside the school before the start of the school day.

Police said officers were still in the field interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, and additional information would be released as it becomes available.

  • Family remembers man fatally hit by car while working on road in rural Scott County

    [ad_1]

On Sept. 8, 44-year-old Joe Norgaard was surveying a rural stretch of highway, Texas Avenue & 230th Street East in New Market Township, just before noon. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says a 58-year-old motorist fatally hit Norgaard while he was doing his work.

“It’s the thing you’re the most scared of, that’s the call that you’re the most scared of,” said Courtney Norgaard, the widow of Joe Norgaard.

She says Joe Norgaard had just gotten this job and it was a big promotion for him. Now, she is left to raise their two sons, Henry and Magnus, alone.

“His amazing super dad powers … no one could match them,” said Courtney Norgaard.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the vehicle that killed Norgaard was not impaired, pulled over to call 911, and cooperated with investigators. Despite all that, the Norgaard family is frustrated.

“This man is with his family, and Joe isn’t,” said Courtney Norgaard, “I don’t know if there is any justice. There’s nothing that could replace him.”

She remembers Joe Norgaard through the passion project he leaves behind — his garden.

“[The garden] was his pride and joy this summer,” said Courtney Norgaard.

She hopes Joe’s memory can be honored by everyone being more attentive behind the wheel.

“Just please keep your eyes on the road,” said Courtney Norgaard, “One split second can change everything.”

An online fundraiser has been set up to help Courtney Norgaard and her two sons.

  • Pedestrian struck and killed during police chase in East Orange, New Jersey

Pedestrian struck and killed during police chase in East Orange, New Jersey

    [ad_1]

EAST ORANGE, New Jersey (WABC) — An investigation is underway after a police pursuit of a vehicle ended with a pedestrian being struck and killed in East Orange, New Jersey.

The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, beginning as a police pursuit that started in Bloomfield.

Mailman Anthony Gordon was out delivering just a few blocks away when he saw the cops chasing after someone.

“Four law enforcement cars – they came down with sirens on. High speed,” he said.

The chase eventually ended in East Orange, where a pedestrian was struck on Park Avenue between Washington Street and Glenwood Avenue in the Marin Park area.

A tan vehicle, a black sedan and an ambulance were all involved in the crash. The airbags of the ambulance deployed after being hit by the sedan.

A witness told Eyewitness News reporter Michelle Charlesworth that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when they were struck.

“They were coming up Prospect. He was going at least like 60. So, by the time he came past Glenwood – he tried to make that left by the school and he didn’t make it. He clipped some car and that’s when he hit somebody else,” said witness Raheem Rogers said.

Rogers says he saw one man taken into custody.

He says he sits on the porch all the time and watches people speed through the area.

“It’s like a raceway. People just speed through here,” he said.

Residents say a police pursuit is extra risky in the area because of how many pedestrians there are. There’s a day care and bank nearby, and a playground right across the street.

Gordon said it could’ve been him that got hit.

“I’m just happy that I wasn’t in the area when it happened because this is my delivery area also, so, I’m just happy because I could have gotten hit too,” he said.

Who police were pursuing, and why remains unclear.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating the crash.
