Pax Dei is a social sandbox MMO inspired by the legends of the medieval era. In this immense, open-world playground, you choose the role you want to play. Explore the land, build your home, forge your reputation… your choices will craft your story. Together with thousands of fellow players, you’ll decide what to make of this world. To help get you oriented in this world, here are 10 tips to help you get started.
Look for friends
Pax Dei is better enjoyed together. Look for player-made villages around you, and group up with other players at the first opportunity. Who knows, they might even have spare equipment for you.
Tip – Linking up your Discord profile with Pax Dei will allow you to check if any of your Discord friends are already playing the game.)
Use the public facilities
Around the Petra Dei, the huge standing stone where you first appear, you’ll find basic components, along with crafters set to public access. Crafting a few items will unlock a bunch of new recipes for you. The Petra Dei itself can be used to safely store some of your personal belongings.
Gear up
Make sure you’re equipped before wandering off. Start by crafting a Pointy Stick to defend yourself and a Crude Skinning Knife to gather hides. Your first pieces of gear will come from Tailoring and Leatherworking, so keep an eye out for flax, bones, and animal hides. Boars are your best source, but approach with caution; they often travel in pairs.
Go on an adventure
Your journey starts in a Home Valley, a relatively safe area of the game, where your first encounters will most likely be with a wild animal. Beware when approaching isolated ruins or caves, though. Enemies here will be more dangerous… and loot more rewarding.
Browse the markets
You don’t have to do everything by yourself. Missing a particular component or equipment? Head for the nearest village. You might be able to purchase it from the market stall of one of your neighbors. And if you want to make a bit of gold for yourself, why not try selling the items you don’t use?
Join a clan
Did we mention Pax Dei was better enjoyed together? Check out the clan menu and apply to a clan that suits your play style. Becoming part of a stable group will supercharge your experience.
Find the perfect spot for your home
One the biggest decisions to make early in the game is where to place your first plot, claiming an area of in-game land for yourself. Take your time to know your environment – a good variety of natural resources and proximity to a Fast Travel checkpoint will make your progression easier. It’s also a good idea to meet your future neighbors before building your home.
Or simply find a vista that makes you happy!
Explore the map
The world of Pax Dei comprises five vast, interconnected provinces, spanning a total area of over 350 square kilometers (135 square miles). If you’re the explorer type, make sure to check in at each Petra Dei (the massive standing stones) along the way. They will then become a possible destination for the Fast Travel miracles, directly accessible from the map.
Go deeper
Adventuring into one of the deep dungeons of the game requires proper equipment. Make sure to craft or acquire advanced armor and weapons, and don’t forget to bring a good mix of food and potions. You’ll also need a party you can rely on. Don’t go alone!
Head for Lyonesse
The divine peace – Pax Dei – doesn’t extend to Lyonesse, the province at the center of the world, dedicated to PVP. Here you will find unique resources required for enchantment. Are the rewards worth the risks? That’s for you to decide.
