There was one person in the Schwazenegger family not invited to Patrick’s wedding. The White Lotus star married his long-time girlfriend, Abby Champion, in Idaho on Sept. 6, and his famous parents attended, but what about his half-brother Joseph?
According to TMZ, Patrick’s half-brother was not invited to the nuptials because they aren’t close. Sources told the gossip site the snub wasn’t a surprise given that “he has no relationship with that side of the Schwarzenegger fam.”
Joseph is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and his housekeeper, Mildred Baena, and was born in 1998. The affair had reportedly ended the marriage between The Terminator star and his wife Maria Schriver. “As I sat on the hotel room floor in the dark, terrified and alone with tears streaming down my face,” she wrote in an excerpt of her memoir I Am Maria, obtained by People, “I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be the end of the you. It can’t be the end of you. Make it a new beginning of you.” She added that she was “consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness, and anxiety.”
“I have caused enough pain for my family because of my f–k up,” he said about his affair in his 2023 documentary Arnold. “Everyone had to suffer. Maria had to suffer. The kids had to suffer. Joseph. His mother. Everyone.”
Those who attended Patrick and Abby’s wedding included Laura and Greg Champion, Patrick’s brother-in-law, Chris Pratt, (through his marriage to Katherine) and Patrick’s The White Lotus co-star, Jason Isaacs.
Sources close to the former California governor says he and Joseph “are very close.” However, the same sources told Page Six that he doesn’t have a relationship with any of his other children. “But, to be honest, the other kids don’t love Joe. It’s a shame as he’s a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.”
Joseph also explained why he uses his mother’s surname instead of his father’s. “I think the main thing is I’m trying to do things on my own,” he told Good Morning Britain. “My family is very big in supporting from afar and not being so hands-on, I really appreciate that. I think it’s really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that’s what I’ve been doing,” he said.
