Zendaya’s Jeans Outfit in Paris Has Me Shopping for This Pretty Shirt Style

    [ad_1]

Everyone’s favorite “jeans and a cute top” outfit just got the Zendaya treatment, and it’s as perfect as you’d imagine. While in Paris this week for fashion week, she wore a vintage Louis Vuitton top with classic straight-leg jeans and strappy sky-high sandals. There’s something to be said for the simplicity of throwing on jeans and a special top. It’s the easiest outfit there is to put together, yet it packs a punch and is appropriate for so many occasions. Zendaya’s outfit is particularly primed to go from day to night.

I’m all for trying out more complicated outfit trends, but Zendaya’s look is reminding me that sometimes something more, well, basic is all you really need. Thanks to her, I’m feeling inspired to shop for some pretty going-out tops. You know the ones—you don’t have to actually be going out to wear one. If you’re on the same page, keep scrolling to shop a few chic Zendaya-inspired tops for yourself since we can’t all have circa-2004 Louis Vuitton.

10 Anti-Trend Autumn Outfits I Plan to Wear Over and Over

    [ad_1]

I don’t know what it is about fall, but every year when October hits, I want to shun most trends in favor of all things classic. Simple, uncomplicated outfit combinations that require little effort are my goal. (Fall is a busy time of year, after all.) And luckily, finding new outfit inspiration that fits the bill has been very easy this season, in particular, as quiet luxury has been the overarching theme of 2023.

I figured I’m hardly the only one who’s into “anti-trend” fall outfits, so I’m here to share some of the best classic looks I’ve come across as of late. As a disclaimer, although I’m using the term “anti-trend” here, you’ll likely notice that some of the below outfits do contain current trends. But trends can also be classic, as many of them are right now (think ballet flats, oversize button-downs, and tweed jackets), so therein lies the explanation.

Scroll on to get inspired by 10 of my favorite classic fall outfits, and shop pieces needed to re-create them.

4 Airport Outfits That Are the Ultimate Combination of Cozy and Chic

    [ad_1]

With fall in full swing and holiday-season travel creeping up behind it, it’s a great time to take your airport outfits to the next level. I mean, what’s worse than heading home for the holidays and running into an old friend in an airport outfit that’s just so-so? Mastering the perfect travel look is easier than you think. The number one thing on my list is being comfortable, especially if I’m traveling far. I used to swear by a sweatsuit and sneakers as my go-to travel look, and while I do still love a good matching set, I thought it was time to elevate my airport looks just slightly. As I said before, comfort is key, but adding a pair of jeans or cargo pants takes things up a notch. I have been eyeing four outfit formulas that are comfortable and still have a bit of style.

Keep scrolling to see the four airport outfits I’ll be wearing on my upcoming flights.

  • Amal Clooney Just Wore the 9-to-5 Version of Fall’s Chicest Outfit Trend

Amal Clooney Just Wore the 9-to-5 Version of Fall’s Chicest Outfit Trend

    [ad_1]

I just love to talk about Amal Clooney’s chameleon-like style. One evening, she’ll be decked out in a glamorous, trendy look while out with husband George Clooney, and the next morning she’ll be back to business attire for her career as a human rights barrister. That’s exactly what occurred this week as she stepped out in a corporate-chic look after attending an event in NYC for her foundation in a white Versace gown the night before. But since we already discussed the bridal vibes of the gown, I’m here to talk about the morning-after look.

One of the biggest outfit trends right now is the combination of a long vest-like top and a slim maxi or midi skirt. Given how chic and effortless the outfit is, it’s not surprising that it’s been such a popular look over the past several months. Clooney opted for a gray pencil midi skirt and a long matching vest, which she accessorized with an oversize leather bag, a belt to cinch the vest at her waist (another on-trend element), and black pumps. Scroll on to see examples of the outfit trend (including on Clooney, of course), and shop it for yourself.

10 Ways to Make Miniskirts Feel Very 2023

    [ad_1]

In a year filled with denim skirts, sheer skirts, ruffled skirts, and floor-sweeping maxi skirts, I’m going against the grain to admit something that, potentially, might get me in some hot water: There’s nothing better than a plain ol’, simple miniskirt

While you can (insert any random statistic here) about shorter hemlines leading to more spending power, I don’t need a mathematical theory telling me it’s a good financial decision to pick up a miniskirt to wear with my favorite trendy items this fall. While wearing a simple, tailored short skirt can seem like it borders on the edge of being boring, there are plenty of ways to integrate all this year’s fall trends into your outfit and keep the classic silhouette feeling incredibly fresh. From fiery pops of color our editors can’t stop thinking about to industrial details Miuccia Prada already gave a shout-out to during a recent Prada runway show, these 10 miniskirt outfit ideas might have hitting the checkout button before you know what hit you.

Banana Republic Is Amazing Right Now, and This Riley Keough Look Is So Chic

    [ad_1]

I recently shared my adoration for Banana Republic. It’s one of those special retailers that I’ve shopped at for years, and I’m turning to even more right now because the latest collections have been so strong. The brand also recently debuted a full home collection (amazing) and just opened its first stand-alone store dedicated to home on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

Celebs gathered to celebrate the opening of the new BR Home store in stylish Banana Republic ensembles. And yes, Riley Keough happened to be one of the A-listers in question. To celebrate the event, she wore a minimalist yet striking Banana Republic ensemble featuring a polo sweater (under $100) and coordinating trousers. The whole silhouette perfectly encompasses that low-key-luxury vibe.

  • The Ultimate Guide to What Boots to Wear With Dresses

The Ultimate Guide to What Boots to Wear With Dresses

    [ad_1]

In case you missed it, we’ve officially entered the fall. With this period comes a whole new set of things to be excited about—especially for the fashion set. Autumn is the time when many people decide to get serious about rebooting their closets. For some, that looks like investing in a few trends, while others do a total closet cleanout. While the latter option, is noble, the start of the new season can usher in added pressures to “ditch” everything old and bring in the new. And while there’s nothing wrong with wanting to replace a few worn-down staples, the idea that you should buy an entire new wardrobe every season is unsustainable (both for the planet and your wallet). It’s crucial to find new ways to style items you already own in a way that adheres to the autumn aesthetic.

But if you’re unsure what pieces lend themselves to doing just that, let us give you one place to start: your dresses. As counterintuitive as it might seem that a dress worn at the height of the summer could transition into the fall, it’s indeed possible. In order to prove that point, we scoured the internet to find outfits that show how to wear boots with dresses. After hours of research, we narrowed down the 10 best boots to pair with every type of dress. Plus, we shopped out the best boots on the market based on longevity, price point, quality, and editorial perspective. Consider this your masterclass in making last season’s dresses feel relevant through styling this season.

And Now, 9 Fresh Ways to Wear a Cardigan This Fall

    [ad_1]

While the word “cardigan” may not exactly set your pulse racing, it’s clear the classic staple is having a major fashion moment this season. The easy basic never really left the runways or our wardrobes, but there was a deluge of styles and iterations on the fall/winter 2023 runways—from Miu Miu’s prim and proper crew-neck cardis styled with sheer midi skirts to Prada’s fitted ribbed silhouettes styled with corporate-chic tapered trousers to slouchy cardi-and-skirt sets seen at Loewe—proving the power and unexpected versatility of the fall staple.

If you love cardigans as much as I do and want some inspiration on how to wear them this season, I’m sharing a whole host of fresh and cool styling suggestions from the street style set and the runways as well as my favorite cardigan picks of the season.

  • Sorry, Not Sorry: The 7 “Boring” Staples We Keep Wearing This Year

Sorry, Not Sorry: The 7 “Boring” Staples We Keep Wearing This Year

    [ad_1]

While the words “basics” and “staples” may not set your pulse racing like this season’s buzzier trends (sheer skirts and sequins come to mind), there’s a reason we talk about them so often here at Who What Wear. Basics are the bread and butter of our wardrobes—versatile, effortless, easy, and chic—and lucky for us, they’re having a moment in the spotlight for fall/winter 2023.

One of the prevailing messages on the runways was wearability with an emphasis on elevated basics as well as fresh silhouettes and wearable color trends that are easy to style within your daily ensembles. The plain-speaking pieces may appear “boring” at first glance, but it’s really all about the way you wear and style them that makes the big difference. Take one gray hoodie and pair it with a camel coat and leggings, and you have a Miu Miu look that’s cool and commuter-ready.

Today, I’m highlighting some of the staples we editors here at Who What Wear are fully endorsing in our daily wardrobes this season. Many of them are pieces we have already been wearing and loving most of the year, from button-downs to ballet flats. Keep scrolling for our unapologetic love for the basics.

  • How to Wear the Corporate Aesthetic Without Looking, Well, Corporate

How to Wear the Corporate Aesthetic Without Looking, Well, Corporate

    [ad_1]

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration centered around current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

Everything about getting dressed for an office setting lacks excitement—suits that don’t fit, materials that itch in the too-warm cubicle-lined workspaces, and stockings that run after every wear. Rather, that all was the situation in the officewear department. But after the corporate look began trending on the runway post-lockdown, everything’s changed when it comes to work attire.

Pencil skirts, waistcoats, briefcase bags, and tailored blazers—many of 2023’s most-wanted trends stem from the attire and accessories that we often associate with corporate settings thanks to labels like Prada, Saint Laurent, Victoria Beckham, Peter Do, and more, all of which have been emphasizing the office aesthetic in their recent runway collections. SFW ties, pinstripes, Oxford button-down shirts, pocket squares, and kitten-heel pumps have also made appearances. These items once could have been described as blasé essentials for your 9-to-5, but with input from Miuccia Prada, Raf Simons, Anthony Vaccarello, and more, new life’s been blown into every last one of them, formally ending the notion that getting dressed for work is a mundane task that’ll never result in a great outfit.

For proof, see four looks below that are as chic as they are HR approved (mostly).

The time has come to pack up all our summer minidresses and swimwear and pull out our jackets and boots for fall. I know—I’m sad about it too, but there’s always exciting energy in the air that comes when the seasons change. Fall feels like the start of something new. For those of us in New York City, it’s the time of year when everyone who has retreated to their summer homes returns to the city and long vacations away come to an end, and the city is back in full swing.

The kids go back to school, college students move into dorms, and it’s chilly enough to wrap yourself in a chic sweater and sit in the West Village while wine tasting with friends. And of course, for those of us who work in fashion, it’s the beginning of fashion month, starting with New York Fashion Week. Change isn’t always easy, especially regarding the shift from summer to fall. As much as shifting into a new season can bring a bevy of things to be excited about, that doesn’t mean it won’t come with a bit of sorrow. On one hand, we can all collectively look toward the prospect of travel, new trends, and less unbearably hot temperatures. But at the same time, it can mark the end of time away from our desks, sun-filled weekends, and beach getaways. All of this is to say that it can be a bittersweet time, so we all must have our own coping mechanisms to make the transition easier.

For me, one of those coping methods comes from spending hours scrolling through social media in search of fall outfit ideas. • I Just Went to New York Fashion Week—Here’s Every Fall Trend I Saw IRL

I Just Went to New York Fashion Week—Here’s Every Fall Trend I Saw IRL

    [ad_1]

Every fashion week, we’re reminded that the New York crowd knows how to dress—it’s evident through the street style. But if you’re still a bit dubious about how this city has the world beat, then let me highlight one last “trend” that dominated this season: low-key luxury. For the record, minimalism isn’t really a trend; it’s been around since the ’90s. But in recent months, we’ve seen wide adoption of a more laid-back approach to dressing this season. Partly, that shift can be attributed to wider cultural conversations around being a more thoughtful shopper and popular fashion aesthetics like “old money“, but my hunch is it’s more than that.

New Yorkers have always known that great style can’t be bought; it’s curated. Yes, you can buy into every trend, but truly stylish people pick items they know will look good long past when they were photographed. It’s why we saw so many showgoers this season donning minimal staples like tube tops, slip skirts, button-downs, pencil skirts, and suits—because they’re timeless. It’s the wide adoption of all things low-key this season that reminds us New Yorkers always know how to take even the most “boring” wardrobe items and transform them into a moment. Keep scrolling to see how low-key luxury was styled this season…
