  • Ballet Flats Are Back, and These 16 Outfit Formulas Make Them Look Chic

Ballet Flats Are Back, and These 16 Outfit Formulas Make Them Look Chic

    [ad_1]

Do you know those people who perpetually live in heels? Well, I’m one of them. For as long as I can remember, I have been wearing heels in all their forms—ankle strap heels, Mary Jane pumps, platform sandals, you get the gist. But the longer I’ve lived in New York City, the more I’ve been open to experimenting with flats partially out of pure necessity. And while I can’t imagine I’ll always have a flair for the dramatics, there are so many great shoe trends (think loafers or vintage-inspired sneakers) that are worth test-driving. But I must confess that the one trend speaking to my soul the most is ballet flats. From Miu Miu’s polished satin iterations to The Row’s square-toe Mary Jane styles, S/S 22 and F/W 22 runways proved ballet flats are back and better than ever.

This makes adopting the shoe trend all the more alluring. But if you’re like me and not sure how to function in flats, you’ll want to keep reading, as I’ve done some digging to see how the fashion set is already wearing this trend. Whether you’re a flat-shoe fanatic or need some convincing that this shoe style is for you, these 16 ballet-flat outfit ideas are bound to impress.

I’m Certain This Is the Most Valuable Basic: 5 Outfits to Make It Feel Chic

    [ad_1]

Kris Jenner works hard but I’m convinced my white button down works harder. There is not one piece in my closet that single-handedly gets more wear than my white button down shirt. Whether it’s worn over a bathing suit with white linen pants, under a blazer with trousers, or tossed over a tank top and jeans, this piece is so versatile and polished all at the same time.

When we talk about best basics (often), there are a few main pieces that are so necessary including quality T-shirts, well-fitting jeans, tailored suiting, and (my hero piece) the button down. Layering options with a button down are endless, plus it gives an air of effortful dressing immediately, whether or not it was truly an effortful look.

Button downs don’t always have to be stiff and business-like, especially in the times of work from home and hybrid-work environments. I’ve tapped my favorite fashionable Instagrammers for five new button down outfit ideas. Shop my take on their looks below.

  • 12 Celebrity Outfits That’ll Make You Want to Wear Leggings As Pants Again

12 Celebrity Outfits That’ll Make You Want to Wear Leggings As Pants Again

    [ad_1]

You’re not imagining it: Leggings as a trend took a hiatus over the past several years. As baggier silhouettes became the norm, they were replaced by sweatpants, as legging lovers such as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner weren’t photographed wearing them quite as much as they once did. As a result, in recent years they’d become less of a trend that you build an outfit around and more of a functional item that you solely wear to the gym or pilates. Well, as things do in the world of fashion, things are starting to shift again.

If you follow the runways, you’ve probably noticed that silhouettes are moving back toward the slimmer spectrum, with Prada featuring skinny pants and Celine cashing in on skinny jeans for their S/S 23 collections. Accordingly, celebrities are again embracing the leggings as pants concept, and we’re seeing them wear them more as of late.

If you’d like some styling inspiration, here are twelve chic legging outfits we spotted on celebrities recently along with some of our favorite pairs to shop right now.

January has come to an end, and spring is in the air. Let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Many of us likely have a handful of chilly months still ahead, but at the very least, we’ll soon be able to ditch the heavy wool coats and winter warmers.

I Just Got Back From Copenhagen—Here’s Every Major Street Style Trend I Saw

    [ad_1]

One of the best things in the world (besides buying something you love) is being able to travel. Having the privilege to leave the bubble you live in allows you to explore new places, learn new things, try different food, and experience new cultures. And while there are so benefits from traveling, my personal favorite is being able to spot (and be inspired by) street style trends. As a resident of New York City, I’m no stranger to seeing someone shuffle out of the subway in the buzziest micro-trend of the moment. That quick second can spark a desire to try something new, and that’s even more true when traveling.

I find that anytime I travel abroad, my sartorial horizons are broadened just as much as my cultural ones. This was very much the case with my last trip to Copenhagen for CIFF and fashion week. There was something so surreal about spotting some of my favorite Scandi-style influencers and editors from around the globe wearing the coolest trends of the moment. And so, to share that magic, I’ve rounded up some of the best looks from Copenhagen fashion week. Plus, I’ve identified 7 street-style trends that dominated the cobbled streets of this Danish capital and shopped them out. Prepare for some serious travel and style inspiration sans jetlag.

In 2023, a Really Good Outfit Features One of These 5 Basics

    [ad_1]

I consider basics to be the backbone of a solid wardrobe—the true workhorses in a closet, if you will. While I personally consider a range of items to be fantastic staples (yes, white T-shirts and black trousers included), I wanted to highlight the trendier basics that I think are particularly noteworthy in 2023.

Given that my favorite outfit ideas are comprised of A+ basics, I believe elevated basics will help to create some of the chicest ensembles you can wear this year. The staples in question are not only highly versatile (the true making of an amazing basic), but they are also modern and bring a forward twist to any look.

Below, you’ll uncover really great outfits that feature trendy basics the fashion crowd is going to be all about this year.

Considering the fact that there are a handful of outfits that will always look good, you can build a completely foolproof wardrobe for the season if you really put your mind to it. However, if there’s one ensemble we had to pick as our favorite, it would be a dress with sneakers. Don’t get us wrong. We love skinny jeans with ankle boots as much as any other outfit, but in case you want to switch things up a bit, this one really takes the cake.

Wearing a one-and-done piece like a dress is already simple enough, but the addition of a pair of sneakers will have you giving off that enviable cool-girl vibe in one easy step. Whether you’re headed to drinks with friends or are jetting out of the house to run errands, we’re here to show you why dresses with sneakers are the outfit formula you should always have on rotation. 10 NYC-Girl Outfits That Were Clearly Inspired By L.A. Girls

    [ad_1]

I recently came across a New York Times article entitled Is New York Turning Into Los Angeles? It touches on everything from cuisine to wellness to style, and in a nutshell, the writer’s take is that ever since the pandemic began, the New York lifestyle has become more laid back than ever, and this has clearly translated to what people wear.

For a refresher, L.A. girls are known for their casual, fun style which can lean a bit beachy (as a refresher, here are some L.A.-girl outfits). The Southern California climate also gives them a lot more freedom when it comes to what they can wear, and it can be argued that the NYC climate is becoming milder, at least over the past year (it hasn’t snowed at all this winter…) Whatever the myriad of reasons may be, New Yorkers are adopting a more relaxed way of dressing as of late, and I have the receipts to prove it.

Below, scroll through a handful of NYC-girl outfits that are giving L.A., and shop pieces women on either coast can appreciate.

The Low-Key Cool Way to Style Your Sweaters in 2023

    [ad_1]

As someone who’s spent her fair share of money on of-the-moment fashion items, there’s nothing better than a trend that can be re-created entirely with items that already live in your closet. And unless you live somewhere that never dips below 90ºF, I’m pretty sure you own at least one sweater that can, with little effort, be tied around your shoulders in the kind of laissez-faire manner that’s going viral on Instagram in 2023.

Whether it’s worn with activewear to give your post-Pilates ensemble a stylish touch or another knit for a modernized take on the sweater set, the sweater-around-the-shoulders look is a huge hit this year. And for good reason since lazy dressing is having a moment right now, and nothing’s lazier than tossing your favorite knit around your neck as opposed to actually putting it on. Plus, since most of us already own about a million different sweaters (oh sorry, is that just me?), there’s no trekking to the store required. *Pauses for lazy dressers to sigh in relief.*

Below, see how low-key-fashion people are styling their knits in 2023.

  • Here’s How to Pair Jackets With Dresses

Here’s How to Pair Jackets With Dresses

    [ad_1]

No matter the season, it goes without saying that my dresses are some of the simplest and most convenient pieces in my wardrobe. In the summer, I throw one on and run out the door with barely a thought because they’re the most practical item one can wear while summer temps blaze. In winter, the added thought is only to slip into a pair of tights and maybe layer a turtleneck underneath. No matter the season, however, dresses are always complicated by one thing: coats. In the summer, temperatures can swing from 90ºF midday to 65ºF at night in the blink of an eye, which means it’s essential to have a coat to combat the evening chill. In fall and winter, a coat practically becomes part of your outfit as you need one to even step out the door.

The challenge lies in the fact that, as a coat immediately becomes the most visible part of your ensemble, it can easily make or break an outfit. Styling coats with dresses can be particularly tricky, as the final layer can make the entire dress seem shapeless or even cover it in its entirety. But it’s necessary, and there are, in fact, ways that a coat can upgrade—and even highlight—the dress underneath. If you don’t believe me, read on to learn how to pair jackets with dresses.
