You’re not imagining it: Leggings as a trend took a hiatus over the past several years. As baggier silhouettes became the norm, they were replaced by sweatpants, as legging lovers such as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner weren’t photographed wearing them quite as much as they once did. As a result, in recent years they’d become less of a trend that you build an outfit around and more of a functional item that you solely wear to the gym or pilates. Well, as things do in the world of fashion, things are starting to shift again.
If you follow the runways, you’ve probably noticed that silhouettes are moving back toward the slimmer spectrum, with Prada featuring skinny pants and Celine cashing in on skinny jeans for their S/S 23 collections.
