Orlando is one of just three cities set to host a back-from-the-dead Vans Warped Tour this week, as part of the skate-punk festival’s 30th anniversary swing.

Performers at this pop-punk weekender include Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup, Pennywise, Less Than Jake, Thursday, MGK, Angel Du$t, Yellowcard, Falling in Reverse and many (seriously) more.

The tour comes to Camping World Stadium and thereabouts in as a partnership with Insomniac, responsible for big-name music festivals like fellow downtown staple Electric Daisy Carnival.

    Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 15-16, Camping World Stadium, 1 Citrus Bowl Place, campingworldstadium.com, $229.98-$449.98.

  • Orlando will get freaky styley at Electric Daisy Carnival all this weekend

Calling all “funkafied freaks,” the Electric Daisy Carnival is back, with five stages and more than 100 artists — including Zedd, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Green Velvet — ready for a phantasmagorical weekend.

This is a festival that brings more than just cranked-up musical performances: a trippy Ferris wheel, interactive art installations, themed environments and an audience often more otherworldly than those onstage. So enjoy a night (or three) of neon lights and pyrotechnics during an EDM takeover of downtown.

    Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9, Tinker Field, 287 S. Tampa Ave, orlando.electricdaisycarnival.com, $286-$599.

EDC is back this autumn and, indeed, bigger than ever

Organizers of gargantuan annual EDM fest Electric Daisy Carnival have announced the list of performers for this autumn’s event, and it features an eye-popping 100-plus performers.

This year’s lineup includes Diplo, Alesso, Eric Prydz, Kaskade, Tiësto, John Summit, Fisher, Alison Wonderland, Illenium, Mochakk, Slander, Oliver Heldens, Benny Benassi, Dimitri Vegas, Steve Aoki, Carl Cox, Vintage Culture, Jaden Thompson, Natalia Roth, Layla Benitez, Lost Frequencies, Odd Mob, Troyboi and Zeds Dead.

The performers will be sprawled over four stages: kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS, neonGARDEN and stereoBLOOM. Additionally, the Rynobus Art Car (is it a mobile stage? a “mutant vehicle”? both?) will give a daylong spotlight to Orlando’s infamous Florida breaks sound.

Electric Daisy Carnival happens Friday-Sunday, Nov. 8-10, at Tinker Field in downtown Orlando. Tickets and passes go on sale starting Thursday, June 27, through the festival’s website.

A holiday weekend celebration of Caribbean culture takes over downtown Orlando

Move over, EDC; this week Camping World Stadium downtown and thereabouts will be home to a holiday-weekend celebration of Caribbean culture in all its many forms. For three days, attendees can take in live music — soca, reggae and calypso — food and drink, dancing and even a parade.

On Friday, Carnival on the Runway — a showcase of Carnival couture and costumes — happens at Camping World. Saturday sees an early Jouvert party (think festive paint and powder being thrown every which way, à la Holi) at Tinker Field, and mini-fest Soca Anthropology taking over the Seneff Plaza in front of the Dr. Phillips Center. Sunday brings the Orlando Carnival Downtown — parade, food festival and even more music — to Camping World. You will dance, guaranteed.

    Fri., May 24, 6 p.m., Sat., May 25, 6 p.m., Sun., May 26, 6 p.m. and Mon., May 27, 6 p.m.

Luke Comibs is to Country Thunder in Central Florida

Luke Combs has been revealed as the mystery Sunday night headliner for this fall’s Country Thunder music festival at Kissimmee’s Osceola Heritage Park.

During a reveal party at Ole Red Orlando on International Drive, Combs was confirmed as the final headliner for the three-day country shindig.

For a relatively young face on the country music scene, Luke Combs packs some serious star power. He has netted six Billboard Music Awards and seven Grammy nominations, played his cover of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman on the Grammy broadcast and recently wrapped his own Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old stadium tour.

The lineup also includes Nate Smith, Russell Dickerson, Mitchell Tenpenny, Priscilla Block, Ernest, Niko Moon, Restless Road, Dallas Smith, Emily Ann Roberts, Clayton Mullen, Calder Allen, Annie Bosko and Alana Springsteen.

Country Thunder happens Oct. 18-20 at Osceola Heritage Park. Tickets are available directly through the Festival’s website.

Florida Puerto Rican Parade and Festival happens downtown this weekend

Wepa! Celebrate culture and community at the Florida Puerto Rican Parade and Festival in downtown Orlando.

This year’s events are themed “Civic Engagement and Responsibilities,” with a focus on civic literacy efforts like voter registration, community volunteering and holding positions in government and public office.

The parade is dedicated to the Municipality of Juncos “La Ciudad del Valenciano,” a town on the eastern part of Puerto Rico. Over 100 vendors will offer art, food (fingers crossed for good pastelón), products from Puerto Rico and more. The festival also features live music from artists like Crespo, Yomo and Elysanij, along with celebrity appearances and a children’s area.

Parade floats and comparsas — groups of musicians and performers traditional at carnivals — will line the streets during the parade, set to start at 11 a.m.

The parade route begins at Robinson Street near Lake Eola and ends at the intersection of West Livingston Street and North Orange Avenue. The festival area, conveniently, begins where the parade route ends.

    Make a day of it.

    11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, downtown Orlando.
