Portillo’s, a Chicago restaurant chain known for its hot dogs, will be opening a new Orlando location later this year.

The new store, set to open at the Waterford Lakes Town Center, will be the chain’s third Central Florida outpost. Current locations include one at 7715 Palm Parkway and another at 8041 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.

The diner-style restaurant will be 7,800 square feet, with indoor seating for more than 190 guests and outdoor seating for about 40 guests. There will also be grab-and-go pickup spots and the company’s signature double drive-thru lanes.

It will be the seventh location in Florida that will serve classic meals of Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chocolate cake, char-grilled burgers and more.

Portillo’s lovers or first-time guests can sign up to get updates on the progress of the restaurant and its opening.

Portillo’s last opened its second Orlando-area location in January 2023. The first Orlando area location opened in 2021.

Celebrity chef and Food Network icon Guy Fieri’s restaurant Chicken Guy! is facing eviction over unpaid rent at its Winter Park location, according to court records.

According to records, the restaurant is accused of breaching its contract and owing its landlord $38,507.72 in overdue rent, interest and late fees. A three-day notice was issued Feb. 15 ordering Chicken Guy! to pay rent or give up possession of the premises. The landlord issued the same notice again March 4, before filing an eviction notice in Orange County court.

Chicken Guy! opened in Winter Park at 818 S. Orlando Ave. in 2021, joining the only other Central Florida location in Disney Springs. The two other Florida locations are in Miami and Wesley Chapel.

Orlando welcomed its very first Fatburger location this week, and the chain wants to celebrate by giving away burgers to a lucky few.

The Los Angeles-based fast food joint made its Orlando debut Feb. 22 at 1713 Future Way in Celebration. It’s only the second location to open in Florida (the first was in Tampa) since the company announced plans to set up shop along the East Coast back in 2022.

Fatburger’s brand-new Orlando(ish) location will host a grand opening event March 2 during normal business hours. And to win over its Central Florida patrons, the restaurant’s first 100 customers will receive a free Original Fatburger.

And for those who don’t make the cut, the restaurant will also be giving away free fries with any purchase throughout the day.

Predominantly located on the West Coast, Fatburger is known for its classic burgers, chili cheese dogs, and loving lyrical mentions from icons like Ice Cube, Notorious B.I.G. and the Beastie Boys.

The chain is owned by FAT (Fresh, Authentic, Tasty) Brands Inc., the same company that owns chains Hurricane Grill & Wings, Twin Peaks and Fazoli’s.
