    Sometimes, it takes a while.

    Or in the case of N.C. State’s 1968 baseball team, 57 years.

    In the spring of ‘68, the Wolfpack gave the school its first College World Series team. Coached by the late Sam Esposito, the Pack won the school’s first ACC championship and then advanced to Omaha, Nebraska, where the dream of a national title ended with a tough loss to Southern California, the 1968 champion.

    While the players have aged, and some have been lost, many of the memories of the ‘68 team remain fresh. They were the first. They deserved rings. Now, they finally have them through the efforts of some former team members, Wolfpack coach Elliott Avent, former Wolfpack Club executive director Bobby Purcell and private donors.

    A ceremony was held Friday at Doak Field at Dail Park, and Avent helped hand out the rings along with Alex Cheek. It was Cheek, the big lefthander from Greensboro, who teamed with starters Mike Caldwell and Joe Frye to pitch the Pack to Omaha and who helped set up Friday’s ceremony.

    “It was a long time coming,” Cheek said.

    The ‘godfather of NC State baseball’ led the way

    Among those who have passed away are Esposito, who Avent has long called the “Godfather of Wolfpack baseball,” and players Chris Cammack, Steve Martin and Tommy Smith. Family members were presented with their rings, including Sam Esposito, Jr.

    The ceremony had a backdrop of baseball players. Current members of the Wolfpack team stood behind the seated stars of ‘68 to offer their support and appreciation.

    “Hopefully you won’t have to wait 57 years for a ring,” Cheek said to the players. “You can beat anybody like we did. We had so much pride in what we did.”

    It took 45 years, until 2013, for the Pack to return to Omaha with a team that had Trea Turner and Carlos Rodon, both MLB stars playing key roles for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees in the playoffs this month. Other CWS appearances under Avent have come in 2021 and 2024.

    A future World Series star on the mound

    Caldwell, a freshman on the 1968 team, later pitched in the big league for 14 years. The lefty from Tarboro was a 22-game winner in 1978 and won two games for the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1982 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

    “I still say the 1968 season was the most fun and most memorable season of baseball that I ever experienced,” Caldwell said.

    Caldwell credited Avent for remembering and honoring the ‘68 team and “keeping all of this crowd together.”

    In the 1960s and ‘70s, it was not common to present championship rings in college sports. That changed through the years, at every level of sports, and past achievements were celebrated – the Pack’s 1970 ACC basketball champs waited until 2016 before getting their rings.

    The 1968 baseball team was 25-9 and 13-4 in claiming the ACC championship. It went to Gastonia and won the NCAA District 3 title, beating out Florida State to get to Omaha.

    “As far as I’m concerned, the ‘68 team set the standard for what N.C. State baseball can be and should be,” Avent said Friday at the ceremony. “I love this team. It represented everything about this school.”

    The landscape around immigration is shifting again under the Trump administration.Last week, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services released a memo bringing back “neighborhood investigations,” a method once used to evaluate an immigrant’s moral character. Blackford said that raises concerns.”Is that going to result in them being denied citizenship because a neighbor doesn’t like them?     Berkshire Hathaway‘s monstrous cash pile topped $300 billion in the third quarter as Warren Buffett continued his stock-selling spree and held back from repurchasing shares.

    The Omaha-based conglomerate saw its cash fortress swell to a record $325.2 billion by the end of September, up from $276.9 billion in the second quarter, according to its earnings report released Saturday morning.

    The mountain of cash kept growing as the Oracle of Omaha sold significant portions of his biggest equity holdings, namely Apple and Bank of America. Berkshire dumped about a quarter of its gigantic Apple stake in the third quarter, making the fourth consecutive quarter that it has downsized this bet. Meanwhile, since mid-July, Berkshire has reaped more than $10 billion from offloading its longtime Bank of America investment.

    Overall, the 94-year-old investor continued to be in a selling mood as Berkshire shed $36.1 billion worth of stock in the third quarter.

    No buybacks

    Berkshire didn’t repurchase any company shares during the period amid the selling spree. Repurchase activity had already slowed down earlier in the year as Berkshire shares outperformed the broader market to hit record highs.

    The conglomerate had bought back just $345 million worth of its own stock in the second quarter, significantly lower than the $2 billion repurchased in each of the prior two quarters. The company states that it will buy back stock when Chairman Buffett “believes that the repurchase price is below Berkshire’s intrinsic value, conservatively determined.”

    Class A shares of Berkshire have gained 25% this year, outpacing the S&P 500’s 20.1% year-to-date return. The conglomerate crossed a $1 trillion market cap milestone in the third quarter when it hit an all-time high.

    For the third quarter, Berkshire’s operating earnings, which encompass profits from the conglomerate’s fully-owned businesses, totaled $10.1 billion, down about 6% from a year prior due to weak insurance underwriting. The figure was a bit less than analysts estimated, according to the FactSet consensus.

    Buffett’s conservative posture comes as the stock market has roared higher this year on expectations for a smooth landing for the economy as inflation comes down and the Federal Reserve keeps cutting interest rates. Interest rates have not quite complied lately, however, with the 10-year Treasury yield climbing back above 4% last month.

    Notable investors such as Paul Tudor Jones have become worried about the ballooning fiscal deficit and that neither of the two presidential candidates squaring off next week in the election will cut spending to address it. Buffett has hinted this year he was selling some stock holdings on the notion that tax rates on capital gains would have to be raised at some point to plug the growing deficit.

    To determine which reverse mortgage lenders are best, CNBC Select analyzed dozens of U.S. mortgages offered by both online and brick-and-mortar banks, including large credit unions, that come with flexible loan amounts and terms to suit an array of financing needs.

    When narrowing down and ranking the best mortgages, we focused on the following features:

    • Types of loans offered: The most common kinds of mortgage loans include conventional loans, FHA loans and VA loans. In addition to these loans, lenders may also offer USDA loans and jumbo loans. Having more options available means the lender is able to cater to a wider range of applicant needs. We also looked for lenders that offer loan and refinancing options that could work well for seniors, such as various types of reverse mortgages and cash-out refinancing loans.
    • Fees: Common fees associated with mortgage applications include origination fees, application fees, underwriting fees, processing fees and administrative fees. We evaluate these fees in addition to other features when determining the overall offer from each lender.
    • Flexible minimum and maximum loan amounts/terms: Each mortgage lender provides a variety of financing options that you can customize based on your monthly budget and how long you need to pay back your loan.
    • No early payoff penalties: The mortgage lenders on our list do not charge borrowers for paying off the loan early.

    Sometimes, in baseball, you don’t come through.

    First baseman Parks Harber remembered watching the moment from the dugout. Vance Honeycutt delivered a home run yet again in the postseason and the Tar Heels stacked consecutive base hits after it.

    But, with runners on first and third with one out, Anthony Donofrio got caught stealing. Gavin Gallaher struck out. Casey Cook stranded on third and North Carolina never got that close to scoring again on Sunday night.

    North Carolina starter Shea Sprague and a four-man bullpen held No. 1 Tennessee and the nation’s second-best slugging percentage to three extra-base hits. It was good enough to win, head coach Scott Forbes said. Only the Tar Heels managed just five hits and were held to one run for the first time in over two months in a 6-1 loss.

    It’s the fifth time in the last six games that North Carolina scored four runs or less. Now the Tar Heels are a game away from elimination in Men’s College World Series with a potent Florida State lineup looming on Tuesday at 2 p.m..

    “I thought they got the big hit and they capitalized and we could not do that,” Forbes said. “They got it done with runners in scoring position and we didn’t.”

    Tennessee starter Drew Beam went through the North Carolina lineup in order his first time through on just 21 pitches—19 of them strikes. Beam largely relied on his high-90s fastball the first time through the lineup before implementing more off-speed selections to get ahead in counts and keep batters off-balance.

    North Carolina finally jumped on Beam the third time through the order. Vance Honeycutt sent Beam’s offering 401 feet into left field at 111 miles per hour. Casey Cook followed with a single into right and Tennessee third baseman Billy Amick couldn’t handle a sharp hit from Harber.

    That ended Beam’s day with four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts in over four innings. Tennessee reliever Kirby Connell inherited runners on first and second with no outs but North Carolina couldn’t get anyone across.

    “Sometimes I feel like we have kind of been on our heels recently,” Harber said. “We need to go out there aggressive, let it all out there and play with no regrets.”

    Sprague did what he could to battle the potent lineup with a mix of high-80s fastballs and sweeping off-speed pitches. The lefty struck out four of the first 12 batters he faced while just two of them reached safely. Eventually, however, the nation’s leader in home runs finally showed up.

    Sprague tried to sneak in a changeup on a 2-0 count against Kavares Tears with runners on first and second. Tears sent it 390 feet into the North Carolina bullpen for his 20th homer of the season to give Tennessee a 30 lead in the fourth.

    The left-handed junior came back out for the fifth and was greeted by the bat of Reese Chapman. Tennessee’s designated hitter jumped on a 1-0 pitch and sent it 411 feet into right field. Those were Tennessee’s 176th and 177th home runs, respectively, of the season.

    Sprague’s night ended there after four runs on three hits, two walks and six strikeouts in just over four innings. Matthew Matthijs, Ben Peterson, Cameron Padgett and Connor Bovair combined to allow four hits and two runs in the final four innings.

    Some of them may be available for Tuesday’s elimination game. With Sunday’s loss still fresh, Harber shared his excitement for a chance at redemption.

    “This is the most fun I’ve ever had playing baseball,” he said. “I’m not going to let this loss ruin any of my experiences here. I’ll be so grateful that I have another opportunity to go out there and play and just leave it all out there and be ready to go.”

    Georgia hit four home runs, including two in the first three innings, en route to an 11-2 Game 2 victory against NC State in its best-of-three super regional in Athens.

    The Georgia win sets up a decisive Game 3 on Monday with the winner earning a spot in the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The game will start at noon or 7 p.m., ESPN announced.

    NC State clobbered Georgia 18-1 on Saturday in the series opener.

    But it was the Bulldogs who struck early in Game 2, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the first inning and extending it to 5-0 in the third. Georgia extended its lead to 10-0.

    Georgia 11, NC State 2 (bottom of 8th inning): NC State catcher Jacob Cozart hit his third home run of the super regional.

    Georgia 11, NC State 1 (top of 8th inning): Corey Collins hit a solo home run to lead off the inning.

    Georgia 10, NC State 1 (bottom of 7th inning): Luke Nixon singled, advanced to third on a single by Matt Heavner and scored on a groundout by Noah Soles, getting the Wolfpack on the board.

    NC State has been shut out once this season and held to one run on three other occasions.

    Georgia starting pitcher Leighton Finley tossed 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits and one run. He struck out five and walked two.

    Georgia 10, NC State 0 (top of 7th inning): Fernando Gonzalez singled to center, driving home Clayton Chadwick with Georgia’s 10th run of the game. Gonzalez was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.

    NC State relief pitcher Ryan Marohn has pitched four innings, helping preserve the rest of the bullpen for a likely Game 3 on Monday.

    Georgia 9, NC State 0 (top of 6th inning): Paul Toetz hit a solo home run to extend the Bulldogs’ lead.

    Georgia 8, NC State 0 (top of 4th inning): Georgia added to its lead with a RBI double from Kolby Branch and a run-scoring groundout by Corey Collins.

    Tre Phelps drove in another run on a hit by pitch.

    NC State starting pitcher Dominic Fritton was taken out after three-plus innings pitched. He allowed seven hits and seven runs (all earned).

    Georgia 5, NC State 0 (top of 3rd inning): Tre Phelps smacked a three-run home run to center field, extending the Bulldogs’ lead. It was the 11th home run of the season for Phelps, a freshman.

    It was Georgia’s third hit of the inning and sixth of the game. NC State held the Bulldogs to four hits in Saturday’s Game 1.

    Georgia 2, NC State 0 (top of 1st inning): Georgia grabbed an early lead in its must-win Game 2 against NC State on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs are the visiting team even through the game is in Athens.

    Second baseman Slate Alford hit a two-run home run off NC State starter Dominic Fritton.

    NC State never trailed in Saturday’s 18-1 victory in Game 1, erupting for 11 runs in the second inning. The Wolfpack need just one more win to advance to the College World Series for the third time.

    NC State is the No. 10 national seed and Georgia is the No. 7 national seed.

    Wolfpack clobber Georgia in Game 1

    Noah Soles had two doubles and five RBIs in N.C. State’s 11-run second inning, and the Wolfpack routed Georgia 18-1 on Saturday in Game 1 of the best-of-three Athens Super Regional.

    Luke Nixon and Matt Heavner had back-to-back bunt singles in the top of the second inning, the former to drive in Brandon Butterworth and open the scoring and the latter to load the bases with nobody out.

    Soles followed with a three-RBI double down the line in right and Eli Serrano III hit the next pitch over the wall in right center. Butterworth added an RBI single before Nixon and Soles each hit two-RBI doubles to give No. 10 seed N.C. State (37-20) an 11-0 lead.

    “Hitting is contagious,” catcher Jacob Cozart sad. “You start out the game having a quick inning, then the second inning came around and we got two really, really good bunts down. They found the hole, chaos unloaded and we just started to roll. We got to the top of our lineup, and then that’s what we do. Once they turn that lineup around, they start to roll.”

    Sam Highfill (7-2) gave up a run on four hits and three walks over six innings to earn the win for the Wolfpack. Andrew Shaffner pitched three scoreless innings of no-hit relief for his first save of the season.

    “He was unbelievable today,”Soles said of Highfill. “He’s very tough. I personally look up to him and I think he’s a great leader, on and off the field. He’s just someone everyone looks up to and I think he’s a really, really good leader for the clubhouse.”

    N.C. State can clinch a berth in the College World Series with a win Sunday in Game 2. The Wolfpack have made three appearances at the CWS, the most recent in 2021.

    “It’s good to get that first one, but obviously we have to get one more,” NC State coach Elliott Avent said. “They’re tough to get but obviously we played really well today. We obviously also had that one inning that got things out of kilter for them.”

    Corey Collins singled to right in the bottom of the fifth for seventh-seeded Georgia (42-16) to make it 13-1.

    “Here’s the great thing about our game: nothing carries over to tomorrow,” Georgia coach Wes Johnson said. “The scoreboard goes back to 0-0, and we’re going to come out, and we’re going to be ready to respond.”

    Every NC State batter in the starting lineup has at least one hit and at least one run scored. Seven players, including Pennington, have at least two hits. Five players, including Pennington, have at least two runs scored.

    Alec Makarewicz doubled and scored on a wild pitch to make it 16-1.

    Brandon Butterworth and Alex Sosa started the inning with singles. Luke Nixon scored Butterworth with a bunt single. Another bunt single from Matt Heavner loaded the bases.

    Then Noah Soles delivered a bases-clearing double to extend the lead to 4-0.

    Eli Serrarno III homered to bring in Soles and extend the lead to 6-0 with no outs.

    With the bases loaded again, Butterworth delivered a long single to make it 7-0, chasing Georgia starter Kolten Smith, who failed to record an out in the second inning.

    Nixon followed with a one-out, two-run double to extend the lead to 9-0. Soles then blooped a two-run double to left field, giving him five RBIs in the inning and pushing the lead to 11-0 before Georgia finally got out of the inning.

    The record for runs in a single inning in a super regional is 13.

    Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway gathered for its first annual meeting in an Omaha arena on Saturday, bringing together shareholders for the first time since the death of longtime vice chairman and right-hand man Charlie Munger. 

    Tens of thousands of shareholders filled the arena eager to vacuum up tidbits of wisdom from billionaire Buffett, who famously dubbed the meeting “Woodstock for Capitalists” and to pay tribute to Munger, who died at 99 in November. 

    The meeting opened with a video tribute to Munger recounting his life and highlighting some of his best known quotes from the meetings over the years that drew applause, including classic lines like “If people weren’t so often wrong, we wouldn’t be so rich.” The video also featured old interviews with Buffett and Munger talking about their epic friendship.

    The video also featured several of the classic skits the investors made for meetings over the years with holiday stars like a “Desperate Housewives” spoof where one of the women introduced Munger as her boyfriend and another video where Jamie Lee Curtis swooned over Munger.

    As the video ended, everyone in the arena gave Munger a prolonged standing ovation to thank him for being what Buffett called “the architect of Berkshire Hathaway.”

    For decades, Munger shared the stage with Buffett every year for the marathon question and answer session that is the event’s centerpiece. Munger routinely let Buffett take the lead with expansive responses that went on for several minutes. Then Munger himself would cut directly to the point. He is remembered for calling cryptocurrencies stupid, telling people to “marry the best person that will have you” and comparing many unproven internet businesses in 2000 to “turds.”

    He and Buffett functioned as a classic comedy duo, with Buffett offering lengthy setups to Munger’s witty one-liners. Together, they transformed Berkshire from a floundering textile mill into a massive conglomerate made up of a variety of interests, from insurance companies such as Geico to BNSF railroad to several major utilities and an assortment of other companies.

    Munger often summed up the key Berkshire’s success as “trying to be consistently not stupid, instead of trying to be very intelligent.” He and Buffett also were known for sticking to businesses they understood well.

    “Warren always did at least 80% of the talking. But Charlie was a great foil,” said Stansberry Research analyst Whitney Tilson, who was looking forward to his 27th consecutive meeting with a bit of a heavy heart because of Munger’s absence.

    That absence, however, may well create space for shareholders to get to know better the two executives who directly oversee Berkshire’s companies: Ajit Jain, who manages the insurance units, and Greg Abel, who handles everything else. Abel will one day replace the 93-year-old Buffett as CEO. Abel and Jain are sharing the main stage with Buffett for the first time this year in the spot Munger used to occupy.

    The first time Buffett kicked a question to Abel, he mistakenly said “Charlie?” out of habit.

    Morningstar analyst Greggory Warren said he hopes Abel will speak up more this year and let shareholders see some of the brilliance Berkshire executives talk about. Ever since Munger let it slip at the annual meeting three years ago that Abel would be the successor, Buffett has repeatedly reassured investors that he’s confident in the pick.

    Berkshire Hathaway remains successful amid drop in earnings 

    Buffett’s company reported a steep drop in earnings because the paper value of its investments fell and it sold off part of its massive Apple stake, but overall, Berkshire Hathaway’s many businesses performed well. 

    Berkshire reported a $12.7 billion profit, or $8,825 per Class A share, in the quarter. That’s roughly one-third of the $35.5 billion, or $24,377 per A share, that Berkshire reported a year ago.

    But those figures were heavily swayed by a large drop in the paper value of Berkshire’s investments. That’s why Buffett encourages investors to pay more attention to the conglomerate’s operating earnings that exclude the investment figures. By that measure, Berkshire’s operating earnings jumped 39% to $11.222 billion from last year’s $8.065 billion as its insurance companies led a strong performance.

    The three analysts surveyed by FactSet Research had predicted operating earnings of $6,701.87 per Class A share.

    Buffett did sell off nearly $6 billion in stocks during the quarter, including trimming about 13% of Berkshire’s massive Apple stake. The investment in the iPhone maker is still the biggest one in the $364 billion portfolio at $135.4 billion, and Buffett said he expects Apple to remain the biggest investment for years — even up to when his successor takes over.

    But the estimated value of Berkshire’s Apple stake suggests that Buffett sold off more than 100 million shares. Buffett has said he invested in Apple’s stock because of how devoted consumers are to the iPhone and other Apple products.

    Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is at the Berkshire meeting, told CNBC that he still considers it a privilege to have Berkshire as a major shareholder, and he knew about the sales before Berkshire disclosed them Saturday.

    Berkshire reported a $2.6 billion underwriting profit at its insurers, up from $911 million a year ago.

    BNSF railroad’s profits did disappoint and drop 8% to $1.143 billion, but most of its many other companies delivered solid results, including a 72% jump in operating profits at the utility unit that added $717 million to Berkshire’s total.

    Berkshire’s revenue grew 5% to $89.87 billion in the quarter. The two analysts who reported estimates to FactSet predicted $87.044 billion revenue.

    With no major acquisitions in sight, Berkshire’s massive cash pile continued to grow to a record $188.993 billion in the quarter. Berkshire even spent $2.6 billion repurchasing shares during the first three months of the year, but its companies include Geico insurance, BNSF railroad, several major utilities and an assortment of dozens of others keep generating mountains of cash.

    “We’d love to spend it but we won’t spend it unless we’re doing something with very little risk that will make us a lot of money,” Buffett said.

    OMAHA, Nebraska — Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway cut its gigantic Apple stake in the first quarter as the “Oracle of Omaha” continued to downsize his one-time favorite bet.

    In its first-quarter earnings report, Berkshire Hathaway reported that its Apple bet was worth $135.4 billion, implying around 790 million shares. That would mark a decline of around 13% in the stake. Apple was still Berkshire’s biggest holding by far at the end of the quarter.

    This is the second quarter in a row that the Omaha-based conglomerate has trimmed the stake in the iPhone maker. It sold about 10 million Apple shares (just 1% of its massive stake) in the fourth quarter. This filing, when accounting for the change in Apple’s stock price, would imply Berkshire sold about 116 million shares.

    Buffett became a big fan of Apple after one of his investing managers Ted Weschler or Todd Combs convinced him to buy the stock years ago. Buffett even called the tech giant his second-most important business after Berkshire’s cluster of insurers.

    Many has speculated that the 93-year-old investing icon reduced his favorite stake due to valuation concerns. Apple’s stock gained a whopping 48% in 2023 as megacap tech shares led the market rally. At its peak, Apple ballooned in Berkshire’s equity portfolio, taking up 50% of it. The shares are trading at more than 27 times forward earnings.

    Shares of the iPhone maker got a big boost in the past week after the firm announced that its board had authorized $110 billion in share repurchases, the largest in company history. However, Apple posted a decline in overall sales and in iPhone sales. The shares are down more than 4% so far this year amid concerns about how it will revive growth.

    It’s not without precedent that the Berkshire CEO would adjust the Apple bet. He sold a bit of the stock in the fourth quarter of 2020, but Buffett admitted then that it was “probably a mistake.” Also it’s not usual for Buffett to trim a position that has grown so large.

    Even with the sale, Berkshire is still Apple’s largest shareholder outside of exchange-traded fund providers.

    A preliminary 79 tornadoes were reported Friday across six states, most occurring in Nebraska and Iowa, where homes were leveled and buildings collapsed.

    Omaha, Nebraska, Mayor Jean Stothert said in a Facebook post early Saturday that no deaths had been reported and there were a few minor injuries after a destructive tornado moved through rural farmland before hitting the suburbs.

    Omaha police Lt. Neal Bonacci said hundreds of homes were damaged, mostly in the Elkhorn area in the western part of the city.

    “You definitely see the path of the tornado,” Bonacci said.

    Police and firefighters went door-to-door to help residents and to search areas where people could be trapped, Omaha Fire Chief Kathy Bossman said.

    “We’ll be looking throughout properties in debris piles, we’ll be looking in basements, trying to find any victims and make sure everybody is rescued who needs assistance,” Bossman said.

    Pat Woods, who lives in Elkhorn, told The Associated Press, that he and his wife took shelter but could hear the tornado “coming through.”

    “When we came up, our fence was gone and we looked to the northwest and the whole neighborhood’s gone,” he said.

    His wife, Kim Woods, said the neighborhood to the north of them was “pretty flattened.”

    Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a disaster emergency for Pottawattamie County after video posted on social media showed parts of Minden, about 30 miles northeast of Omaha, Nebraska, completely flattened.

    Jeff Theulen, the chief deputy of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, said at a Friday evening news conference that 40 or 50 homes were “completely destroyed.” There have been two reports of injuries, one “fairly severe but not life-threatening,” he told reporters.

    “It’s a very dangerous right now. We’ve shut off entrance to the city except for the people that live here,” he said, noting that “50% of the town is damaged badly and then there’s light damage everywhere else.”

    In nearby Shelby County about 40 homes were damaged, said county emergency coordinator Alex Londo. Officials were assessing the destruction, he said, noting there have been no reports of fatalities.

    There were also more than 30 damaging wind reports and 60 hail reports Friday afternoon and overnight. National Weather Service offices are surveying the damage ahead of more severe weather expected Saturday.

    More than 30 million people in Oklahoma City; Dallas; Wichita, Kansas; Omaha; Milwaukee; and Madison, Wisconsin, are in the path of severe weather.

    Northwestern Texas and western Oklahoma are under tornado watches for Saturday, according to The National Weather Service.

    “Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are expected over parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and North Texas today into tonight,” the agency’s Storm Prediction Center said in a Facebook post. “Strong, potentially long-track tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds are likely.”

Ronco President, Zak Olsen, will likely earn his own time behind the wheel. “We saw the unraveling and now Mike is oh for two,” said Olsen, laughing. A few years ago, the two were once again on the losing end of a golf game and were teased by co-workers when they were forced to wear hotdog costumes at 72nd and Dodge. The hilarious video lives on thanks to a drone crew and photographer who captured the notorious event.Now, there’s a new scenario.     Two Nebraska construction guys are quickly becoming gas station celebrities, because of the vehicle they drive.

    “You guys like my ride?” Mike Langford shouts to people taking photographs as he fills his old Honda minivan with fuel. The vehicle has 210,000 miles on it and an unusual new paint job.

    Langford is the Chief Operating Officer of Ronco Construction Company in Omaha, Nebraska. And he’s also a self-admitted terrible golfer.

    Langford’s golf skills earned him a special prize in the latest company golf outing. Ronco President, Zak Olsen, will likely earn his own time behind the wheel.

    “We saw the unraveling and now Mike is oh for two,” said Olsen, laughing.

    A few years ago, the two were once again on the losing end of a golf game and were teased by co-workers when they were forced to wear hotdog costumes at 72nd and Dodge. The hilarious video lives on thanks to a drone crew and photographer who captured the notorious event.

    Now, there’s a new scenario. The company purchased and painted a bright pink, Barbie-themed minivan complete with a working cassette player and fuzzy pink keychain.

    “A pink car! There’s pretty pink flowers on it,” said Michelle Hurt, co-founder of Chariots 4 Hope, a non-profit that helps people in need find affordable transportation.

    Langford must drive the car for the number of days that coincide with the number of golf strokes that put him on the losing end of the game. And while he drives it for 23 days, the company figured a non-profit should benefit.

He’s probably white or Black or something. Does he have little glasses, or is that the governor? I thought maybe he was the guy who extended the light rail? Wait, we don’t have a light rail, what am I talking about?” At press time, the residents of midsize cities were reportedly rattled after discovering the existence of a city council.

    The radically liberal actress Jane Fonda is speaking out this week to reveal why her legendary Hollywood star father Henry Fonda once smacked her across the face.

    Jane’s Father Smacked Her

    While appearing on the former “Scandal” actress Kerry Washington’s “Street You Grew Up On” podcast, Jane recalled when her father married his second wife Susan Blanchard, a Jewish socialite and stepdaughter of musical theater director and composer Oscar Hammerstein II, after the suicide of her mother. When he married Susan, Henry moved to Greeenwich Village in New York City, across the country from where Jane and her younger brother Peter were raised in Los Angeles.

    “She (Susan) had African-American friends, and for the first time I got to know Geoffrey Holder, who I now realize — I always thought of him as a dancer — but someone just gave me a book … of his artwork. He was a great artist,” said Jane, 86.

    When asked by Kerry if she was exposed to black people in Los Angeles, Jane replied, “No, not at all. Not exposed to people of color at all.”

    “I didn’t know racism until I went to Greenwich,” she continued. “That was the first time I ever heard the N-word, and I repeated the N-word once, and [it was] the only time in his life that my dad whacked me across the face. He said, ‘Don’t you ever, ever say that word again.’”

    Jane went on to say that when Henry was a child, his father forced him to watch a Black man be hanged and his body be dragged around the town’s square in Omaha, Nebraska.

    “That had a huge impact on my father,” she explained, adding that it inspired him to make movies like The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), The Wrong Man (1956), and 12 Angry Men (1957).

    “He cared about justice and he hated racism, and, you know, with that slap taught me to pay attention,” Jane concluded.

    Henry Was A Republican

    Though Jane has been known for decades for her radically liberal activism that earned her the nickname Hanoi Jane during the Vietnam War, her father was actually a registered Republican in his younger days, something that shocked both of his children when they found out.

    “Several years ago a friend of mine sent me a wallet that had belonged to my father,” her late brother Peter told AARP in 2013. “Inside was an uncashed check from my maternal grandmother and his first voter I.D.  And the card had him as a Republican!”

    “My sister could not and would not believe it,” he added with a laugh. “She had the worst time with that! I figured I’d wait until she really dug herself into a hole, and then I’d drop it on her, because I had the weapon in my hand.”

    Jane Slams Henry

    Last year, Jane spoke out to slam her father, who died in 1982, for the way he raised her.

    “He never brought joy home,” Jane said of Henry, according to Daily Mail. “I never felt that he got joy… it never manifested when he came home, so it was not like ‘oh my God, I want what he’s got.’”

    Jane said this as she spoke about why she decided to become an actress.

    “I’m not one of those who grew up wanting to perform, wanting to be an actor. I didn’t think that I had talent,” she explained. “I wish that somebody had said to me, ‘Don’t give up, keep going, it’ll get better,’ because I saw no future. I didn’t think that I would live past 30. That’s why…I don’t take anything for granted.”
