I Found the Best Travel Essentials From Nordstrom and Amazon

    [ad_1]

Last year, I traveled more than I have ever before, and I’m trying to manifest that same energy for 2024. I love to travel and find going to new places so exciting. You get to experience what it would be like if you chose to live in a different city for a while, you get to leave your problems at home, and you get to wear all of your favorite wardrobe pieces you’ve been saving for a great vacation. I mean, what’s not to love? The key to great trips, however, is planning well and packing strategically. You want to make sure you’re bringing the right things and are thinking about what you will actually need and use on your trip, not what you might have a last-minute urge to wear.

With all of the traveling I’ve done, I have gotten pretty good at packing smart, but that’s not without help from some travel essentials from Nordstrom and Amazon that I swear by. Since I want to make sure your travels go as smoothly as possible you save yourself from overpacking unnecessary items, I’ve rounded up the travel essentials that have changed the game for me.

Keep scrolling to see the Nordstrom and Amazon travel essentials I swear by.

My Mom Is 60, and I'm 28—These Nordstrom Items Are on Our 2024 Wish Lists

    [ad_1]

My mom and I are multiple states and 32 years apart; she’s 4’11”, and I’m 5′ 8″; and if you looked at the outfits we individually put together, you’d be hard-pressed to find similarities. Yet whenever we shop at Nordstrom together—something we’ve been doing since I was a toddler tagging along on a mall trip from the comfort of my stroller—we tend to take a liking to the same things. It’s like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants phenomenon, but with a mother and daughter, and instead of one pair of pants, it’s a heap of chic buys from Nordstrom

When I was home during the holidays, we shopped the Half-Yearly Sale to no end together, both ordering a few of the same items. Afterward, we started planning ahead for 2024 in the retailer’s new-arrivals section. As usual, our picks weren’t very far off from each other’s. Below, take a look at the 37 items my 60-year-old mom and I are both looking to add to our 2024 wardrobe rotations, from cashmere knits and elevated denim to suede accessories and LBDs.

What to Buy From Nordstrom If Your Vibe Is Kaia Gerber But Your Budget Is $100

    [ad_1]

I know—who wouldn’t want to dress like Kaia Gerber? The It girl (and recent Who What Wear cover star) who crushes it both on and off the runway is the ultimate model-off-duty icon. She has perfected California cool and quiet luxury, marrying on-trend and classic style with every look she steps out in. Whether she’s headed to the gym or on the red carpet, Gerber never misses.

While the 22-year-old fronts campaigns for Celine and Valentino on a regular basis and can often be seen in brands like Khaite and The Row, she also mixes it up with more affordable and contemporary labels such as Mango and Madewell. Beyond that, however, her style can be emulated at any budget, and today, I’m here to prove it. From workout essentials to classic basics, I’ve rounded up 34 Gerber-inspired finds that are all under $100 and from everyone’s favorite site—Nordstrom, duh. Ready to get started? • Buy These 7 On-Trend Winter Finds, and Everyone Will Think You Hired a Stylist

Buy These 7 On-Trend Winter Finds, and Everyone Will Think You Hired a Stylist

    [ad_1]

My approach to winter dressing is always to tread lightly when it comes to trends. The goal when buying anything new is to avoid looking overly trendy and instead find ways to weave new must-haves into my rotation of favorites. The resulting outfits are intuitively comfortable because, for the most part, I have worn them before. But the addition of my fresh purchases makes it seem as though I’ve hired a professional stylist to help me put a personal twist on the It looks of the moment.

This winter, the first trend that I leaned into was cherry red, which I’ve begun to incorporate into my outfits by way of accessories. Jeans and a tee are transformed when you add a red pair of heels or sunglasses. Designers such as The Row, Ferragamo, and Stella McCartney have cosigned on the trend, where on the runway, they mixed in red accessories with head-to-toe cherry looks. It’s up to you how maraschino you want to be.

While there are subtler trends, like the continuation of quiet luxury and casually cool cargo pants, there’s also an opportunity to stand out in all black. Cutouts, sequins, and sheer details help add an alluring twist to black staples. To me, it’s the ideal party look—a little mysterious, a bit understated, but still stylish.

Read on for more shopping ideas to help you tackle the top trends of winter, no stylist necessary.

    I Spent New Year's Day at Nordstrom—28 Half-Yearly Sale Items I Couldn't Resist

    [ad_1]

A new year almost always comes with resolutions. This year, the tradition resulted in my promising to cut down on shopping and pick back up my running habit. That’s how I found myself jogging along the west side of Central Park on New Year’s Day, only to somehow end up at Nordstrom‘s front door. While I should have held off and resisted the strong urge to step inside, I didn’t. Instead, I broke my resolution one day in and went off at 10 in the morning into the Half-Yearly Sale section. Surprise, surprise.

From elegant and affordable outerwear that I’m prepared to replace all of my expensive designer coats with to ultra-luxe footwear and accessories from the likes of Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Tory Burch that are shockingly marked down, the 28 Half-Yearly Sale items I discovered during my two-hour jaunt around Nordstrom’s NYC flagship are nothing if not impressive. Before the deals end on January 8, shop every last one below.

  • I Got the Scoop on the Beauty Products Nordstrom Has to Restock Constantly

I Got the Scoop on the Beauty Products Nordstrom Has to Restock Constantly

    [ad_1]

I will always look back on 2023 as the year I was finally won over by Dior’s best-selling Lip Glow Oil, discovered a newfound adoration for the full-coverage and glowy combo offered by Armani’s Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Foundation, and was converted into a Jo Malone fragrance enthusiast. So what’s in store for me in the New Year? I like to think that it’ll be spent in pursuit of a “that girl” beauty collection filled with only the highest-performing products that I can trust to carry me through 2024 without fail.

With that energy in mind, I reached out to one of my favorite retailers for a better idea of which beauty products are worth having. As a Seattle native, Nordstrom has always been my go-to for all things beauty. It’s the place where I purchased my first eau de parfum and experienced a full-face beat at the hands of Anastasia Beverly Hills’ makeup counter. With their help, I’ve ID’d the top skincare, hair, makeup, and fragrance finds that have been absolutely flying off the shelves recently. I’ll be using this as my Nordstrom beauty shopping guide going forward, so don’t be surprised if I try to snag all of these for myself.

  • I Live in Venice Beach Where Low-Key Style Is It—These Outfits Hit

I Live in Venice Beach Where Low-Key Style Is It—These Outfits Hit

    [ad_1]

I’ve always been a city girl. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, grew up in Houston, and upon moving to L.A., lived comfortably east of the 405 for years. But a California hazard they don’t warn you about is that you might meet a cute surfer who eventually lures you all the way west. After some cajoling, I gave in to my inner Pisces, packed up my gray Tabby, and moved us across town to the sun-dappled, salty-aired streets of Venice Beach.

It’s been six years since, and while I may not yet be a bona fide beach babe (I still prefer reading on the sand to roaring waves), it’s home. My hair is blonder, my mornings slower, and I love the neighborhood’s walkability and proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Every time I catch another glorious pink sunset, it does feel a little like living in a fantasy.

If you’ve ever experienced L.A. traffic, you know how vast and sprawling the city is. Different zip codes mean different dress codes, and the attitude in Venice is very relaxed. Denim and comfy shoes reign supreme, and a knit is a must to combat the almost-always-present marine layer. Most of my bolder pieces have been relegated to the back of my closet, awaiting invites for martinis at Tower Bar, dancing at A Club Called Rhonda, and too much pasta at Little Dom’s. So while my highlights may not be low-maintenance, my approach to daily dressing is.

Keep reading for three of my tried-and-true outfits for your next trip to the beach.

My Friends Call Me the Queen of Basics, Here Are the Top 9 to Invest In

    [ad_1]

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always leaned towards classic style. I’m a believer in minimalism and capsule wardrobes. A closet with basics and timeless pieces ensures I’ll never be in a position where I have “nothing to wear.” Most importantly, my love of basics has prevented unnecessary shopping trips.

My friends and family comment on how I often manage to look chic and put together despite infrequently shopping. The trick to having a wardrobe that keeps giving will always and forever be the basics. Furthermore, I find that simpler, well-fitted pieces of clothing or sleek accessories almost always have that tailored look that makes one feel sophisticated and positively elegant. The term “basics” may seem elusive and vague—what constitutes a basic? In my opinion, a basic is a wardrobe building block, an item that can be fashioned in many different ways. Basics can be dressed up or down, layered, or worn on their own. Their versatile nature makes them worth investing in, as they can be handy for everyday dressing. My favorite places to get outfit essentials are usually Madewell, Nordstrom, and H&M, but in addition to those retailers, I’ve included some of my other favorites as well. Below are nine outfit essentials that are worth investing in.

Chic, Not Trendy: 27 Nordstrom Items for Effortless Style

    [ad_1]

So, my official mantra at the moment is ‘fewer, better things’, but if I’m allowed to have a second, it would be ‘chic, not trendy’. But look, as I write this I’m sitting here in my Sambas—so I’m clearly not anti-trend, nor am I immune to a bit of hype. That being said, I have been doubling (and tripling, even quadrupling) down on certain fashion styles and silhouettes for a few years now, and it feels like over the past few years, new iterations of these classic pieces continue to be shoppable each season.

Perhaps the algorithms have just learnt to keep serving me up more of the quiet luxury they’ve figured out I like? Whatever it is, there’s no shortage of fashion on the internet right now that feels timelessly chic, with just nod to this season’s trends. I’ve curated the best shoes, bags, apparel, and winter accessories from Nordstrom that capture this energy. Some picks are designer, some are a bargain, and all of them are very worth your time.

I Tried on Clothes for 4 Hours at My Hometown Nordstrom—These 17 Finds Are *It*

    [ad_1]

I spent my Thanksgiving break in the suburbs of the Bay Area (aka, my adopted hometown on the West Coast, where my husband grew up and where we spent a good chunk of the pandemic). You’ll be relieved to know that between all the important activities (mainly hikes and trips to the bakery), I managed to dedicate four hours on Sunday to ransacking the local Nordstrom.

Let it be said shopping IRL the weekend after Thanksgiving is no joke. I arrived promptly at 10:30 a.m. only to discover it didn’t open until 11, so I spent half an hour sitting in the sun with a coffee from the Nordstrom cafe, making a game plan for when I got inside. Priorities were cozy winter knits and some excellent outerwear, and (per my rules) I had to try on at least one fun thing I normally wouldn’t. You can shop all my best IRL finds below.

One thing about New Yorkers is that they know how to dress. Another thing about New Yorkers is that their style only gets better in the colder months. Even during the winter, I spend a lot of time people-watching in NYC; there’s no better way to get style inspo, in my humble opinion. Whether I’m grabbing a coffee and moseying around on the Upper East Side or sprinting from event to event in SoHo, I keep seeing the same items: pared-down staples.

If you’re looking for some help with your sartorial selections, I’ve curated a list of pieces that NYC fashion people would absolutely buy from Nordstrom (because where else in this day and age can you score hundreds of luxury brands all in one place?).  From cashmere knits and high-quality denim to luxe outerwear and wintertime accessories, here are 30 fashion items that NYC people love.
