Ah yes, that wonderful time of year where we unwrap the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, exchange gifts with loved ones, and swoon over Santa’s favorites like Latto who stunned in a Christmas-themed birthday photoshoot ahead of the holiday.

Festive and fine, the “Go Girl” rapper continued her holiday tradition by donating gifts from trendy brands to her hometown of South Atlanta in the heart of Clayton County.

The benevolent baddie did her big one for her community, blessing more than 500 Atlanta families at the epic giveaway for her Win Some Give Some foundation.

In collaboration with Amazon, Apple, and Sims, Latto made the holidays even happier for households across Clayton County, which declared Dec. 18 “Latto Day” and awarded her a key to the city.

With flicks and photos going viral, fans congratulated the “Somebody” stunner, not only because she gave back to the babies, but because they think she’s expecting one of her own.

As previously reported, pregnancy predictions started in October when social media sleuths claimed Latto had a baby bump showing onstage at the Force Festival in Japan.

Between Latto seemingly soft-launching her long-rumored relationship with 21 Savage, the beachside baecation photos, and his lyrics about pulling a Russell Wilson on someone in cheetah print, fans claimed the conception commotion wasn’t a reach.

Naturally, social media launched an investigation after seeing the latest photos and video of Latto from her foundation’s event.

    *zooms in*

Based on a preliminary investigation, the internet concluded that Latto was, indeed, pregnant but we’re not too sure based on the hitmaking rapper’s viral birthday sleigh.

Do you think Big Mama is about to be a mama? If so, what would you gift Latto at her birthday shower? Tell us down below and enjoy our gallery of swoon-worthy sleigh belles on the flip.

  • Sherri Shepherd Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame – LAmag

    [ad_1]

The unveiling marks the 30th anniversary of the comedian, actress, and daytime television host’s career in Hollywood

The Hollywood Walk of Fame has received its latest addition, unveiling Sherri Shepherd’s star on Monday. Marking Shepherd’s 30th anniversary of her career in comedy, acting and daytime television.

Receiving the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2878th star, located in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.

Tyler Perry, Niecy Nash and Ira Bernstein were in attendance at the ceremony.

Perry, producer of films starring Shepherd, like the 2009 film “Precious” and “Straw”, Shepherd co-starring with Taraji P. Henson, released earlier this past June, said, “There are many people on the planet that were sent here to bring light, and then there are other people who are here to be light. Sherri is a person who is light. When she walks in the room, you feel it, you know it. She makes everybody feel seen.”

Although Shepherd is best known for her work on the big screen and television, Shepherd has had a number of other projects outside of daytime television and films. Last month, she published her first children’s book, “The Sunshine Queens,” on female friendships. Aiming to celebrate the importance of cheering each other.

On the stage, she was the first African American to play an evil step-mother on Broadway in 2014.

Shepherd’s daytime talk show “Sherri” airs on FOX, covering pop culture headlines, and premiered in 2022. “I’ve dreamed about having my own talk show since I was a little girl,” Shepherd said at the ceremony just before the unveiling of her star.

  • Ryan Murphy Toasts Kim Kardashian and the “Lady Avengers” of All’s Fair

    [ad_1]

It’s one of the most eagerly awaited series of the year, with a trailer that boasts 44 million views. All’s Fair and its high-flying female cast will soon be arriving on Disney+. To celebrate, lead actors Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, Sarah Paulson, and Niecy Nash have embarked on a promotional marathon that began in Los Angeles and recently came to Paris, for a screening at La Maison de la Chimie on Kardashian’s 45th birthday. On the pink carpet, a veritable parade of fashion and icons unfolded in front of an audience of journalists, photographers, and a lucky few fans.

Between a photocall and an interview, the show’s six stars gathered on a lobby staircase for an exclusive photo session with Vanity Fair France. Paulson, dressed in a white Schiaparelli ensemble, was the first to lend herself to a few light tests, followed by Nash, Taylor, Close, and Watts. Last to arrive on the pink carpet was Kardashian, sculptural in a vintage Dior piece by John Galliano, accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner. The shoot ended with applause and a round of “Happy Birthday” initiated by Nash.

After presenting Monster: The Ed Gein Story earlier this fall, the hyperproductive Ryan Murphy is also behind this new series for Disney+, in collaboration with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. The show follows the day-to-day doings in a divorce law firm run by Allura Grant (Kardashian), Liberty Ronson (Watts), and Emerald Greene (Nash). In the manner of a procedural drama, each episode shifts focus between new business and long-running intrigue set against a backdrop of rivalries and betrayals. “In a world where money is king and love is a battlefield, [they] will change the game,” reads the synopsis.

Led by Kardashian, the cast of All’s Fair is made up of many of Murphy’s regular collaborators. They include Paulson, seen in several seasons of American Horror Story and in American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson; Watts, seen in season two of Feud; and Nash, who won an Emmy Award for her role in Dahmer. Long-time icon Close and Taylor, a breakout in the recent film One Battle After Another, are the only newcomers to this universe. In addition to the main cast, the series will feature choice guest stars like Brooke Shields, Judith Light, Elizabeth Berkley, and Jessica Simpson.

  • Niecy Nash-Betts Talks Menopause, Hot Flashes, and the Power of Skinny-Dipping – POPSUGAR Australia

Niecy Nash-Betts Talks Menopause, Hot Flashes, and the Power of Skinny-Dipping – POPSUGAR Australia

    [ad_1]

Niecy Nash-Betts is hot. Yes, her career is on fire (did you see her iconic Emmy’s speech last year?). But she also quite literally feels hot, she tells me during our conversation at the Pendry Hotel in New York at the end of March. Donning a blazing red suit, the “Dahmer” actor admits that she is in her menopause era and owning it.

But while the hot flashes weren’t a surprise, just about everything else about menopause was. Growing up, Nash-Betts didn’t understand what menopause was or how it impacted the body. “My mama failed me without giving all the information,” she tells PS. “But you don’t know what you don’t know.”

In her 50s, Nash-Betts would become more familiar with the other life changes tied to menopause, including hair thinning, skin dryness, and fatigue – although she didn’t immediately realize that last symptom was related to menopause. “I’m a hard-working Black woman, I’m always tired,” Nash-Betts tells PS. Her first-hand experience with a lack of knowledge about the life stage is why she’s partnered with Versalie, a digital-first platform offering support and resources for all things menopause.

One key aspect of getting educated about the realities of menopause is breaking apart misconceptions – like that there’s no fun after menopause. Nash-Betts is living proof that that’s not true. When asked about how she likes to stay healthy these days, she tells PS, “My health routine these days looks like skinny-dipping.” It’s something that she and wife Jessica Betts love doing together, and often. “Right after I won my my Emmy…[we went] skinny-dipping. We went straight to the pool, trophy and all,” she says.

Not only does it feel good – “you’re swimming back and forth, kiss a little bit in the middle, and then you swim a little bit more” – skinny-dipping also a total-body workout, Nash-Betts says.

In terms of other fitness trends, she tries to stay away from the ones that don’t quite make sense to her. “I don’t understand people working out with goats, and lambs, and baby pigs. I don’t know what they’re doing in there,” Nash-Betts tells PS. As far as she’s concerned, if she wanted to go to the farm she would – and the same goes for yoga. “When you put the two of them together, it’s just a lot going on,” she says. She’d rather invest her time in something that she knows will yield benefits: therapy.

“We live there,” she tells PS, admitting it’s a non-negotiable of being in a relationship with her. “My better half and I go separate and together – it’s a necessary evil.” That said, finding the right therapist hasn’t been without its hurdles. But she encourages everyone to stick it out, likening the journey to dating. “You have to try [therapists] on for size,” she tells PS. And just like finding a potential partner, “a referral from a friend is usually the best way to go,” she adds.

Which brings her back to the menopause conversation. When it comes to navigating the life stage, Nash-Betts hopes to be a kind of referral for other women – and particular Black women, who often aren’t privy to the conversation and may find themselves silenced in their own health journeys.

“I hope that people see themselves,” Nash-Betts says of her partnership with Versalie. “Let me let me be a part of the conversation and the solution.”

  • Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor Put Everything Into ‘Origin.’ She Hopes It Wasn’t in Vain

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor Put Everything Into ‘Origin.’ She Hopes It Wasn’t in Vain

    [ad_1]

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor still feels caught in the whirlwind of Origin. She went out on a limb to score the lead role in the production that started less than a year ago, and only months later made a splashy bow in Venice. “It feels like something I don’t want to let go,” she tells me. “It feels so fast.”

There’s a deep connection Ellis-Taylor communicates about the film, and particularly the role of Isabel Wilkerson, an author and scholar whose provocative and profound ideas about class and stratification in global history make up the book Caste. Director Ava DuVernay took her ambitious theories and decided to make a movie out of them, both by dramatizing her central areas of inquiry—taking the production from the contemporary U.S. to Nazi Germany to India—and by turning the focus on Wilkerson herself, paralleling her personal journey with her brilliant investigative work. Ellis-Taylor herself had already been a big fan of the Pulitzer Prize-winner’s work. In Origin, she embodies a woman asking huge questions about humanity while experiencing incredible personal loss—a nuanced character arc that DuVernay weaves into the fabric of her emotional cinematic epic.

Ellis-Taylor has experienced a swift rise in Hollywood after years of “toiling in oblivion,” as she put it to me years ago. Last year, she earned her first Oscar nomination for stealing scenes in King Richard, and this is now the richest lead role of her screen career, and she makes good on it with a performance of astounding vulnerability and intellectual prowess. Frustratingly, she and the film, which was acquired out of Venice by Neon, have been struggling for a place in this year’s awards conversation, despite strong reviews and audience response out of festivals. Ellis-Taylor has taken it upon herself to get the word out during Oscar nominations voting (which ends Tuesday) and ahead of the movie’s January 19 theatrical release. Her ultimate hope is that Origin is simply seen.

“My prayer for this film is that it won’t be in vain,” she says of the work to get here. “I know that it will continue to be a grassroots thing, and honestly, I’m not mad about that. I wish we had millions of dollars, so our billboards could be everywhere—it would just make it certainly easier for us—but going to the people, getting the folks involved in it, feels consistent with the spirit of the book.”

In conversation with Vanity Fair, Ellis-Taylor breaks down one of the most complex and fascinating figures she’s ever portrayed.

Vanity Fair: Last time you and I spoke, you’d mentioned the lengths you went to, to get this part, in sending Ava pictures of yourself and Isabel Wilkerson side by side. Can you tell me that story and how you so quickly saw yourself in this woman, this character?

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor: Yeah, I did it. [Laughs] When I knew that there was a conversation about actually making the film, I said, “I want to be in that conversation, I want to be a part of that.” I started looking at her and I said to myself, “If I did the right things, I could make myself look like her.” She has a sort of iconic look. She has pearls, she wears this burgundy sheath dress. I said to my sister, “We’re going to make me look like that.” So we ordered a dress from Nordstrom’s or Bloomingdale’s, I can’t remember which; I got the right makeup at the beauty supply place in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and got me a nice wig. My sister ordered me some pearls from Amazon because Ms. Wilkerson wears pearls often. And I had her take a picture of me, and we sent it to Aisha Coley, who was the casting director for the film.

Hollywood’s most-watched celebs gathered on Jan. 10 at the 2023 Golden Globes Awards, and some swapped viral Barbiecore pink for something much more regal.

Purple, in a variety of shades, was the trending color on the Golden Globes red carpet. Sheryl Lee Ralph opted for a floor-hitting embellished gown by Aliétte (and rocked matching colored eye shadow for the finishing touch) in a vibrant jewel tone. Niecy Nash appeared in a rhinestone-studded Dolce & Gabbana ensemble, complete with a billowing cape, in a rich eggplant. Similarly, Selena Gomez‘s velvet Valentino number was washed in a deep, almost black ultraviolet, with lighter balloon sleeves.
