    On the day Rita Ora reveals her Primark collection to the world, she’s wearing the gray acid-wash denim set, consisting of a boxy moto jacket and matching miniskirt with an asymmetrical zipper down the front. She styles the co-ords with leather thigh-high boots, several chunky rings, and a fluffy shopper, one of the signature accessories in the 169-piece collection. It’s clear she’s familiar with them all as she singles out members of her design team at the NYC launch party who are also decked head to toe in Rita Ora x Primark, beckoning them to pose for the crowd. One such look is a tan three-piece pantsuit, my favorite that I’ve seen so far. But the rest of the lineup is easily accessible to me, displayed on racks for guests to sift through and even try on.

    The 32-year-old musician has spent two years dreaming up the versatile, season-less, affordable range that emits ’90s grunge and her own brand of sex appeal. “It was a combination of the friendship that I created with the CEOs and spontaneously being at the same restaurant,” Ora tells me after the intimate preview, when I ask how the collab came to be in the first place. As it turns out, her genuine love for the brand began with early shopping trips to her local Primark in Hammersmith, West London, when she considered herself an everyday fashion fan who didn’t want to break the bank. “It was such a great opportunity to reconnect to my roots, respect the journey that I’ve been on, and understand the customers, because I was one of them,” she says.

    Codesigned by Primark and Ora, alongside emerging London-based designer Jawara Alleyne — and styled by Rita’s personal stylist, Pippa Atkinson — the wardrobe staples allow the singer’s fans to re-create her famous aesthetic on any budget. It’s no surprise that as soon as the first drop was manufactured, Ora began weaving items into her outfits, slowly building suspense and teasing her followers about what was to come. All the while, the accompanying campaign was being shot in Trellick Tower and around Golborne Road in West London, where Ora grew up. “Keeping it really real was all I cared about. That’s the reason I joined with Primark in the first place, so it only made sense to go back to where it all began,” she explains.

    Available on Sept. 19 in all 430-plus of Primark’s stores, the international collaboration — starting at $5 for clothing and accessories, $28 for outerwear, and $20 for footwear — will be available to browse on primark.com, with the option to use a stock checker before heading out to shop. It also prioritizes circularity and sustainability, with two-thirds of the pieces crafted from recycled materials.     New York Fashion Week is always accompanied by one too many over-the-top outfits (at least for my taste). Sure, it’s a great opportunity to experiment in the dressing room, making pairings that you’d normally consider to be too out-there for just any day at the office. But at times, the looks go too far. Then, there are the masters, the people who can style those risqué pieces just right and make their outfits feel both fitting for the occasion and not in need of any editing down. 

    One such mastermind is Olivia Wilde (and her stylist Karla Welch), who arrived at the Michael Kors Collection S/S 24 show in Brooklyn this week wearing 2023’s most daring trend: hot pants. Minuscule in size but huge in impact, the teeny-tiny shorts that have been popping up all year are shockingly difficult to style in a low-key, approachable manner. Yet that’s exactly how I’d describe Wilde’s look, which included the brown suede shorts, a matching cashmere sweater, sheer tights, and a floor-length coat, all of which were designed by the man of the hour, Michael Kors. She also added her signature Ray-Ban Wayfarers, of course, and knee-high suede boots from Stuart Weitzman. Just like that, Wilde cracked the code for styling hot pants for fall. Add a maxi coat, tights, and boots, and voilà—a completely wearable way to style bottoms that are only an inch away from being underwear.

    There’s nothing quite like Fashion Week to kick off the season in style with a whole new set of trends to watch. And, while summer might have come to an unofficial close as of Labor Day, the New York City heatwave has kept celebrities and editors alike stepping out in their finest warm-weather attire — and we are here for it. On Friday, Sept. 8, Prabal Gurung hosted his Spring 2024 show with Lori Harvey sitting front row, wearing a colorfully printed knit mini dress with an integrated cape, posing in the rain for the camera snaps before heading in to sit front row beneath a clear bubble umbrella.

    Crafted of teal and black, Harvey’s micro-mini silhouette was the perfect piece for the transitional season, as it was knit of a lofty weave yet still showing a healthy amount of skin. With the addition of a fringed scarf designed to be draped across her frame and pooling on the concrete beneath her feet, the look had everyone looking toward colder days ahead as well. As Harvey’s outfit was pulled straight from the Fall 2023 collection Gurung presented back in February of this year, it’s likely to be readily available for all to purchase shortly, although not quite yet.

    For Spring 2024, Gurung presented a collection inspired by his own family’s journey to the city a quarter of a century ago and what that meant for the integration of cultures. In a press release, the designer explained, “In the spirit of my aunts’ journey as immigrants in 1980s New York City, who once struggled to balance their roots with the demands of the Western world, serve as a poignant symbol. Their story inspired me to imagine the reverse—instead, envisioning someone traveling from West to the East, embarking on a voyage, shedding the obligations of Western norms, unraveling of her own beliefs as she discovers and embraces the wisdom of her new world in the East.”

    Rife with saturated pastels, bold prints, metallic materials, and embroidered details, this latest collection is one that finds the balance between the romantic and the bold; the new and the old; and the everyday with the luxe.

    Olivia Wilde was living the best of both worlds in a weather-defying ensemble at New York Fashion Week on Sept. 11. As summer style begins to mingle with fall fashion, with some celebrities still wearing bikinis and others experimenting with non-traditional fashion trends, Wilde is taking a firm stance at the center of the sartorial debate. Surrounded by fellow stars, Wilde arrived in a Michael Kors trench coat, a ribbed sweater, sheer tights, and a pair of hot pants that created the illusion of a bodysuit. She styled the outfit with knee-high suede boots, a fringe handbag, and gold Oera earrings.

    The focal point of the outfit, styled by Karla Welch, was the pair of teeny-tiny hot pants that blended seamlessly with Wilde’s sweater. From afar, Wilde easily looked like she was serving her take on the no-pants trend. Though she wasn’t completely pantsless, the star’s micro shorts, sheer tights, and black sunglasses felt like a not-so-subtle nod to summer.

    The rest of her outfit, meanwhile, was a clear homage to the impending fall weather. Wilde’s ribbed sweater provided a layer of comfort many of us crave when the temperature drops; the ruching on her hot-cocoa-brown boots added an effortlessly cozy energy to the ensemble; and her herringbone trench coat created a wind-swept drama that practically summoned a whirl of fallen leaves to dance at her feet. Though New York recently experienced its second act of summer in the form of a heat wave, followed by a series of thunderstorms, it’s clear Wilde isn’t letting the unpredictable climate deter her from wearing whatever she wants.

    Good things come to those who wait, especially when it involves Christian Siriano. On Friday, guests mingled inside the Pierre on the Upper East Side, adorned with flowers in shades of deep purple and blue, as they awaited the start of the designer’s New York Fashion Week show. Avril Lavigne, Laverne Cox, Quinta Brunson, and more were all in attendance, but once a Siriano-clad Janet Jackson arrived, the show could officially begin.

    The presentation, which marked 15 years since Siriano’s debut, cast a diverse group of models who showcased Siriano’s vision for spring-summer 2024, all dressed in romantic and whimsical evening wear that pulled inspiration from the ballet.

    “Is it nostalgia? Is it something from the past?” Siriano told Vanity Fair he first asked himself when dreaming up what 15 years should look like on the runway. “My sister and I were ballerinas, and I remember being in these black warm-ups and then coming to life in sugarplum fairy dresses, so I really wanted to show that [transformation] tonight, the progression of what it could be and how visceral and dreamlike clothes can feel. I wanted it to be magical, and a lot of work went into those clothes,” he said.

    As for Siriano’s showstopping guest, Jackson said she and the designer met a year ago after the Grammy Award winner fell in love with a red tulle skirt—a textile heavily featured in the collection shown at the Pierre. “I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. So Stunning. Oh, my gosh. He totally outdid himself,” she said of Siriano’s latest collection.

    For Jackson, fashion’s ability to evoke feeling is where its beauty lies. “You know it has power when it gives you the ability to feel different, to feel sexy, to feel loony, to take you through these different journeys. That’s what fashion does,” she said.

The crop top boasted an off-the-shoulder silhouette and featured a knot at the center with lacy ruffles that skimmed the neckline and top of her abs. Meanwhile, the matching knee-length skirt was ultra-low-rise, finished with tiers full of the same romantic lace. Ratajkowski completed her outfit with a Marc Jacobs St. Marc top handle bag and patent pumps replete with gold chainlink anklets to play up the hardware. Her long brown hair was parted at the center with a silky-smooth sheen and side-swept bangs, and she opted for a darkly-lined eye and nude, glossy lip.

    Ratajkowski joined fellow fashion A-listers Sarah Jessica Parker, who colorblocked in a purple Oscar de la Renta dress and neon heels to celebrate being named shoe brand of the year; Lila Moss, who chose a Prada minidress to receive the breakthrough model award; Pamela Anderson, named style icon; and Dove Cameron, who looked dapper in a black-and-white Valentino ensemble.

    Ratajkowski has had quite the busy Fashion Week so far, making appearances at the Lacoste 90th anniversary party in a white polo on September 9 and commemorating her participation in Victoria’s Secret’s The Tour ’23 show in all-leather on September 6.

    One such person is Laura Harrier, who attended a NYFW kick-off party for Fossil wearing a deep-V, polo-neck LBD that featured breast pockets and a maxi hemline with a gold chain necklace and black boots. The look is just the sort I talk endlessly about to my friends and coworkers, swooning over the timeless appeal and sexy yet sophisticated elegance of it all. Luckily, it didn’t take me long to find an $89 similarly polo-neck black dress from Nordstrom’s in-house label Open Edit, a brand every editor keeps in their back pocket, that gives off a near-exact vibe to Harrier’s. And with NYFW still very much going strong, I simply have to have it to wear, like, tomorrow.     Florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but alongside shimmery adornments, chic tracksuits, and playful plaids, Kate Spade New York sure made them interesting. Kicking off Fashion Week on Sept. 8, the storied New York City brand presented its joyful spring 2024 collection at the High Line. Against a backdrop of giant white floral sculptures and artificial grass, models posed in patterned sequins, “wasabi” green silhouettes, and recognizable archival prints.

    Kate Spade’s latest collection captures the “relief” you feel after a long winter, and represents the pieces you’ll reach for when you abandon your winter wardrobe, explained Jennifer Lyu, Kate Spade’s SVP and Head of Design, Leather Goods, and Accessories. Together with Tom Mora, SVP and Head of Design, RTW, and Lifestyle, the design duo wanted customers to feel the energy and excitement that comes with the first glimpse of spring, particularly in NYC.

    At the presentation, celebrity guests stunned in a variety of vibrant, youthful ensembles representative of the line. Stephanie Hsu wore a peplum top and trousers in a plaid pastel print; Anna Cathcart looked adorable in a striped button-down and pleated skirt; and Justine Skye dressed in a tweed crop top and matching tiny miniskirt. Despite the mix and match of patterns, all the contrast worked well together, and still felt true to each of their personal styles. That’s exactly what Mora and Lyu hoped for the collection.

    “We’re offering you this glimpse into the Kate Spade world and we would love to see what you do with it.”

    They didn’t have one specific muse in mind; they wanted to see how different people would express themselves with the pieces. “We want that expression that’s always been part of the brand, that idea of we’re offering you this glimpse into the Kate Spade world and we would love to see what you do with it,” Mora said. “That’s such an important part of this brand. We celebrate that uniqueness and that personal style that our customers have.”

    The spring 2024 line marks the pair’s third collection since joining Kate Spade last September. Their goal was to respect the essence of the longtime brand while evolving it into a more relaxed, modern vibe that’s reflective of trends today. “There was a real restraint to the way this company was launched. It was really about shape and silhouette, and we continue to always keep that in mind,” Mora explained. “There’s a simplicity to the silhouettes of everything here, so you could amplify the codes like the stripes and checks. It was about really taking classic beautiful silhouettes and just making them more relaxed, giving them a little slouch and a little bit of more attitude.”

    Christina Aguilera’s dress shows a lot of body — but not necessarily her own. While attending Vogue’s Smart Tox event on Sept. 7 during New York Fashion Week, the singer stood out in a colorful naked illusion dress by the brand Feben. The design featured a green and yellow bodice à la the famous Venus de Milo, shaping Aguilera’s own curves to look like the sculpture’s. The original painting on the dress — created by artist Jaana-Kristiina Alakoski — included a vivid oil-slick of colors, dripping down from the top of Aguilera’s neckline, all the way down to her long sleeves.

    Styled by Chris Horan, Aguilera accessorized the bright bodycon ensemble with olive green sunglasses, a matching clutch, and metallic gold knee-high boots from Steve Madden. She left her long platinum-blond hair down and completed the look with minimal gold jewelry to keep the attention on the art.

    The naked dress trend originally meant showing skin through sheer fabrics, as seen with Florence Pugh’s braless couture at the Valentino Couture show and Ciara’s fishnet gown at the Oscars afterparty. But more recently, some celebrities have debuted much more literal interpretations, including Kourtney Kardashian, who in January wore a similar nude illusion dress with a Renaissance-era print. The look could easily be mistaken for bridal, especially when teamed with diamond drop pearls, white pumps, and a matching quilted clutch. Watson opted for a natural beauty look with soft makeup and peach-tinted cheeks, and her hair was swept up into a side-parted bun with loose waves extending toward her shoulders.

    Watson is currently rumored to be dating Proper Snacks cofounder Ryan Kohn after reportedly splitting from Brandon Green, the son of British fashion businessman Sir Phillip Green, in early 2023. She attended Wimbledon in July with Alex, coordinating with him in peach linen separates and sporting a classic French manicure. On Sept. 5, she sat next to Vogue’s Anna Wintour at the US Open, showing off her own brand of quiet luxury.

    Doja Cat’s spilling her own secrets following a Victoria’s Secret party. (She hated her dress.) After attending the “The Victoria’s Secret World Tour” celebration during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6, the rapper told her followers what she really thought about the thong-baring slip dress she wore on the red carpet. “It’s crazy when you got a dress on and your whole vagina is out the whole night and the straps on the dress pull ur t*ts all the way down to your knees and all you asked for was a slip dress,” she wrote the following day in a series of since-deleted Instagram Stories, per Insider.

    While Doja’s original request seemed reasonable enough, the black dress she ended up wearing appeared to be relatively unoffensive, featuring a plunging cowl neckline and low back to reveal her back tattoo and matching thong. But as Doja explained in subsequent posts, her chief complaint had more to do with an overall sense of discomfort than the actual style. She specifically cited the nonadjustable straps and construction of the accompanying undergarments as some of the most glaring issues. “I’m in my complaining era, my f*ckin Karen era,” she said. “A b*tch coulda got a uti.”

    Doja paired her Victoria’s Secret dress with accessories more in line with her edgy aesthetic. Styled by Brett Alan Nelson, she wore Y2K-era crystallized sunglasses, pointed-toe heels from Christian Dior, and a diamond Messika necklace. She stood out even further with icy blue contact lenses, sparkling ear cuffs, and silver tooth jewelry.

    Despite starting a personal feud with her own dress, Doja said she was still able to make “lemons out of lemonade” and enjoy a “beautiful night” out in New York City. That said, she did end up leaving one more (especially) graphic description, perhaps as a cautionary tale for the future. “When I tell u the panty was built into the dress so when I put it on, the shoulder straps pulled the string up through my cervix and split me like a block of cheddar cheese.” Chilling.

    On the bright side, Doja happily reported that she plans to feed her gown to the moths as retribution. How’s that for a statement piece?

Her patent leather Pleaser boots featured a 3-inch platform sole and no back heel for additional support, which is practically a broken ankle waiting to happen. In fact, they come with a warning on the Pleaser website, reading, “Due to their extreme height and unique heelless design, these shoes are not recommended for walking or dancing.”

    Despite the risks, Fox still managed to strut the sidewalk with a 7-Eleven Slurpee in hand and nary a wobble in sight as the cameras snapped away. Later on in the evening, Fox changed into a sheer silver thong-exposing dress and much more walkable heels for the Victoria’s Secret World Tour launch party, where stars including Iris Law, Lila Moss, Priyanka Chopra, and Lori Harvey hit the pink carpet.

    Fox regularly makes headlines with her eccentric style choices. Just one day ago, the actor showed some skin in a revealing chain bikini at Naomi Campbell’s PrettyLittleThing runway show, risking a wardrobe malfunction as she posed on the red carpet. Other notable head-turning outfits this year include a completely sheer cutout swimsuit, a translucent condom crop top and boots, and a corset made entirely of neckties. She’s also previously repped Pleaser, stepping out in the brand’s white platforms with heels at New York Fashion Week in February.

    Nearly 40 years into her storied career, Naomi Campbell is still a runway staple at the most prominent brands around the world: Versace, Schiaparelli, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen. But this year, one fashion show was different. She wasn’t just walking the runway; the marquee bore her name. On Tuesday, Sept. 5, at New York City’s famed Cipriani 25 Broadway, the legendary supermodel debuted a 70-piece collection for PrettyLittleThing, designed in collaboration with Edvin Thompson of Theophilio and Victor Anate of Vicnate. The choice to work with two Black artists was intentional. “For me, it’s where I’m at in my life, sharing my platform with those who are so talented who don’t get the chance in getting the opportunities and having the light shine on them,” Campbell told POPSUGAR backstage.

    “The world has taken from our culture long enough. We need now to own all these things that have been taken from us.”

    Models walked around a mirrored runway in chainmail minidresses, structured suiting layered under faux-fur coats, and intricate crystal-beaded skirts. Styled with strappy sandals and black cat-eye sunglasses, the collection felt confident, glamorous, and timeless, much like Campbell’s own wardrobe. “I love the white dress,” she said, referring to a cowl-neck tiered skirt design that looks like something she would’ve worn to party with Kate Moss in the late ’90s. “For me, it was just so easy and comfortable and sexy and chic.” Her style repertoire includes plenty of similar dresses, all of which she’s excited to pass down to her daughter one day. “She’ll have a lot,” the mother-of-two quips, adding coyly, “you’ll understand more come mid-October.”

    Dressed in a floor-length, embellished, backless gown, Campbell delivered her signature walk to thunderous applause from the crowd, which included Julia Fox, Lori Harvey, Emily Ratajkowski, and Teyana Taylor. Afrobeats artist Davido closed the show performing his worldwide hit “If” as Campbell danced joyfully in her seat. She was thrilled to feature the Nigerian-born musical genre at an event on the NYFW calendar — in one of many displays of diasporic unity.

    Black cultural ownership was top of mind for “The Super Models” star. “The world is looking at our culture,” she said. “The world has taken from our culture long enough. We need now to own all these things that have been taken from us.”

    After turning France’s Cannes Film Festival into her veritable runway with a series of outré looks, Julia Fox is ready to do it again stateside.

    The “Uncut Gems” actor kicked off New York Fashion Week on Tuesday by attending the Pretty Little Thing x Naomi Campbell show in a floor-length black trenchcoat from the collection.

    As she posed for photos, she opened her coat to reveal only a silver chain bra and a matching metallic thong underneath.

    Fox’s undergarments were designed by Seks, a New York-based label. She coordinated the outfit with dramatic eyeliner and black lipstick.

    Perhaps more so than any other star, Fox has made the so-called “naked dressing” trend her signature.

    In May, she attended Cannes Film Festival party in a structured bodice made of a glasslike material. And in March, she attended the Courrèges runway show in Paris in a black mesh dress that was was completely see-through.

    Such looks are perhaps indicative of what Fox herself has described as her “‘I don’t give a fuck’ era.”

    When asked about her daring ensembles last year, the actor told People she could see “beauty in every type of style and fashion.”

    “If you have the opportunity to serve,” she added, “why not serve?”

    Naomi Campbell’s debut collection for PrettyLittleThing drew quite the star-studded crowd ahead of New York Fashion Week. The supermodel partnered with Black designers to create a capsule line for the retailer, which was showcased at NYC’s Cipriani on Sept. 5. As sheer designs, crystallized ensembles, and mesh bodycon dresses came down the runway, fashion-week mainstays and stars alike watched in daring outfits of their own.

    Campbell kicked off the show in one of her PrettyLittleThing creations, a see-through maxi dress covered in rhinestones. Julia Fox certainly turned heads in the front row, wearing metallic chains as undergarments, which she topped with an oversize trench coat from the brand. At Fox’s side, Emily Ratajkowski stunned in a shimmery, mustard-colored dress with a neckline that dipped down her stomach, while Lori Harvey chose a sheer hooded maxi dress and fishnet tights. The Yevrah Swim founder further accessorized with velvet opera gloves and maximalist gold jewelry. Similarly, Teyana Taylor wore layers on layers of gold body jewelry underneath a sleek black suit.

    Other striking looks included Leni Klum’s see-through white set with lace lingerie, La La Anthony’s fully sheer bodycon outfit, and Winnie Harlow’s black lace bra and panties under a naked bodysuit.

    Upon announcing her collaboration in July, Campbell initially garnered criticism for working with a fast fashion brand, but she’s since spoken about her commitment to collaborating with emerging Black designers. “If I can get them on the platform, and get the light shone on them, and give them a helping hand in their career and what they want to do with their own designs, helping them on their journey, that makes me happy,” she said in an interview with W.

    Picking out your outfits for fashion week takes hours of consideration and planning. As much as we’d all like to pretend that every look found in those famed street-style roundups was thrown together effortlessly, nine times out of then, they were crafted days ahead of the first show. As for what inspires them, the previous season’s runway collections are almost always at the top of the list, and this year, for me, will be no different. 

    Once you decide that that’s the route you’re going to take, the next step is to select which looks to make your muses, usually based on buzziness, the weather, your personal style preferences, and what you already have in your wardrobe, of course. Since I’ve had a running list of my favorite looks from the fall 2023 shows I bore witness to last February for closing in on six months now, selecting the ones I wanted to mimic wasn’t all that difficult. Then, all that’s left to do is fill in the blanks of each outfit with new pieces.     Most Wanted is a weekly franchise that goes live every Monday. The story features a list of one editor or influencer’s current favorite 30 fashion or beauty products around a certain theme. 

    The days leading up to New York Fashion Week, aka the first stop of four in the marathon that is fashion month, are some of the busiest of the entire year for those who call the industry home. Not only do you have to make your schedule for some of, if not the entire month, locked in, you also need to brainstorm coverage ideas, meet with publicists, attend pre-NYFW events, and, the most mentally taxing of all, plan your outfits. 

    Since fashion month’s kickoff is just days away, I as a fashion editor, am knee-deep in the planning process, taking inspiration from the runways (both current and archival), street style, my never-ending Instagram saved folder, and more, and pulling from my existing closet before shopping out the final touches. It’s a full-time job, but one that’s certainly worth it when fashion month comes around and I love everything I’m wearing. (Yes, it does make a difference.)
