  • 10 New Songs Out Today to Listen To: xaviersobased, Gia Margaret, and More – Our Culture

There’s so much music coming out all the time that it’s hard to keep track. On those days when the influx of new tracks is particularly overwhelming, we sift through the noise to bring you a curated list of the most interesting new releases (the best of which will be added to our Best New Songs playlist). Below, check out our track roundup for Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

xaviersobased – ‘Party at My Place’

Xaviersobased has teamed up with 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady and Skrillex for an abrasive new song, ‘Party at My Place’. It arrives on the heels of the rapper’s debut album, Xavier, which came out last Friday.

Gia Margaret – ‘Everyone Around Me Dancing’

Gia Margaret has announced a new album, Singing, and shared its wistful lead single ‘Everyone Around Me Dancing’, in which her voice is strikingly layered. The song “is a reflection on feeling isolated and the comfort found in that isolation,” according to Margaret. “It is for taking a pause, for being in observation of a very scary and loud world and it is for finding stillness in our own inner worlds too.”

    Lala Lala – ‘Arrow’

Lala Lala has shared ‘Arrow’, a blissfully propulsive preview of her forthcoming album Heaven 2. “It’s such a basic spiritual thing,” Lillie West said of the song, which samples La Femme. “Resistance is the root of all suffering, and I did not know that. I thought that I could dictate the course of my life.”

Maria BC – ‘Night & day’

“I imagined this as a kind of lonesome cowboy song, an ode to the night,” Maria BC said of their pillowy yet piercing new song, ‘Night & day’. “When his workday is over and the sun’s gone down, he can be with the one he loves, and speak freely, feel deeply. This time is so precious to him, he often gets carried away and clings to it desperately. Then the morning brings shame, stupor, new longing.” It’s taken from the Oakland musician’s upcoming LP Marathon. “One of my favorite moments of the album comes toward the end of this song, when Cole’s saxophone comes in with a falling pitch.”

Sorry – ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Alone in Cologne’

Just a few months after releasing their latest album Cosplay, Sorry have released two new songs, ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Alone In Cologne’. “I used to be close to you or somebody that I once knew,” the group said in a statement.

    Witch Post – ‘Worry Angel’

Witch Post have shared another haunting single, ‘Worry Angel’. It’s taken from their just-announced EP Butterfly, the follow-up to their debut Beast, which made our list of the best EPs of 2025. “‘Worry Angel’ is a lucky keychain you can’t go anywhere without. It’s a python that curls around your neck and makes you into a bitch,” the duo said in a statement. “It’s twisted superstition that guides your everyday. It’s a pixie taunting you every time you close your eyes. It’s crows that caw on your walk home. It’s a sense of being watched. It’s sweaty palms. It’s not real. We’re waiting on angels. It’s all real and sometimes it’s all just because we feel alone.”

    Tigers Jaw – ‘Primary Colors’

Tigers Jaw have dropped a new single, ‘Primary Colors’, from their forthcoming album Lost on You. It’s a dramatic duet between Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins. “‘Primary Colors’ is about being so wrapped up in the aftermath of something that it overwhelms your senses entirely,” Walsh reflected. “When you’re stuck somewhere between reflecting on the ‘what ifs’ and finding the resolve to move forward. We recreated that mental space in the music video as a performance space that had doorways to memories, journeying through a relationship from the very first sparks to the slow unraveling.”

Charlotte Cornfield – ‘Living With It’ [feat. Feist]

Charlotte Cornfield has previewed her forthcoming album Hurts Like Hell with another poignant single. Following the title track, which featured Buck Meek, ‘Living With It’ is a collaboration with Feist. “I had secretly dreamed of having her sing on the record and mentioned it to [producer] Phil Weinrobe, who she is also friends with,” Cornfield shared. “When Phil reached out and she said yes, I sent her a couple of songs, hoping she would gravitate towards this one. She did, and she added her Feist magic to it, which is undeniable.”

    Punchbag – ‘I Am Obsessed’

Punchbag, the duo of London siblings Clara and Anders Bach, have announced a new EP, I Am Obsessed, with the anthemic title track. “If our first EP was a selfie, these new songs are like zooming in and thinking, ‘fucking hell my pores look huge,’” the band said. “This EP is turning up the contrast on everyday life, rinsing the disgusting dish towel so far that all the gunk comes out. It’s pushing Punchbag’s sonic world even further, into a grander landscape, and dramatising the everyday more than ever before.”

  • 12 New Songs Out Today to Listen To: Mitski, Broken Social Scene, and More – Our Culture

There’s so much music coming out all the time that it’s hard to keep track. On those days when the influx of new tracks is particularly overwhelming, we sift through the noise to bring you a curated list of the most interesting new releases (the best of which will be added to our Best New Songs playlist). Below, check out our track roundup for Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Mitski – ‘I’ll Change for You’

Mitski’s second single from Nothing’s About to Happen to Me is here, and boy, is it good. Devastating and ornate, it comes with a video directed by Lexie Alley and edited by Rena Johnson. “Yeah/ I’ve been drinking/ Why’s that gotta mean/ I can’t call you ‘bout you and me?” she sings, calling back to ‘Bug Like an Angel’, an early single from her previous album, and its line about how sometimes a drink feels like family. I hope you’re not in a bar when you listen to it.

Broken Social Scene – ‘Not Around Anymore’

Broken Social Scene’s first album in 9 years, Remember the Humans, is on the way. It’s led by the shimmery yet wistful ‘Not Around Anymore’. “There’s a different kind of honesty in this record,” the band’s Charles Spearin commented, which reverberates through the new song. “We’ve had success, we’ve lost friends, we’ve lost parents, we’re at this ‘what happens next?’ stage in life.”

    Friko – ‘Seven Degrees’

Friko’s just-announced album is aptly titled Something Worth Waiting For, and its first single, ‘Seven Degrees’, is very much worth your time. “I have searched and I have crawled
I have drank at every bars “For a long time I thought the saying was ‘seven degrees of separation’ and not ‘six,’” vocalist/guitarist Niko Kapetan explained in a statement. “There’s a lightness to that song but really it’s about connection, and trying to stay close to the people you care about.” At one point, he sings,: I have searched and I have crawled/ I have drank at every bar.” I’m guessing Mitski must have been at one of them.

Mandy, Indiana – ‘Sicko!’ [feat. billy woods]

Mandy, Indiana got billy woods to guest on the latest single from their new album URGH, which arrives on Friday. It rules.  Instead of pairing it with a traditional music video, the band cobbled together clips from seven different filmmakers in the form of an interactive carousel. “Social media has changed the way we consume art and music, often meaning that we rarely see a full music video in the way it was intended to be experienced,” they explained. “For ‘Sicko!’, we wanted to try something different, leaning into the way people consume art on social platforms. We asked creators to make 30 second films based around “sickness” as a theme, drawing inspiration from the track. It was an experiment to see what a music video might be like if we present distinct, often conflicting, visual styles side-by-side. The videos were then matched with different sections of the track in a sequence that felt right. By moving through and watching each short, you will hear the full song.”

Ratboys – ‘Penny in the Lake’

Ahead of the release of their new album Singin’ to an Empty Chair, Ratboys have unleashed one more single. Ever since I got the advance of the record, ‘Penny in the Lake’ is a song I keep turning over in my head, especially the “Baby, you’re my Ringo Starr” lyric. Julia Steiner elaborates: “I wrote this song on a sunny summer day while sitting outside in my backyard, and then we recorded the album version up at the Driftless Cabin in Wisconsin, about as close to nature as we could get. We wanted everything to feel live and loose, and we chose to leave the final recording as unadorned as possible. Chris [Walla] dubbed this approach ‘photographic realism,’ and I love to think of the song that way, as a snapshot of our band in a room playing a song together, living in the moment and having a great time.”

Buck Meek – ‘Ring of Fire’

Later this month, Big Thief’ Buck Meek will release his new album The Mirror, and today he’s got a new single called ‘Ring of Fire’. It sounds nothing like the famous ‘Ring of Fire’, which honestly suits its lovingly tongue-in-cheek nature. Like every song on the record, it features Adrianne Lenker on backup.

Weird Nightmare – ‘Might See You There’

Alex Edkins, the Toronto frontman known for fronting METZ, is back with new music from his power-pop project Weird Nightmare. Its sophomore LP, Hoopla, was co-produced by Spoon’s Jim Eno and arrives May 1. Lead single ‘Might See You There’ is incredibly hooky, and Edkins had this to say about it:

‘Might See You There’ is about going back to visit my hometown and being flooded with teenage nostalgia. Small-town boredom and isolation almost feel like a gift in today’s highly connected world. I feel fortunate for that time spent idly, down in the basement, learning the entire Rancid Let’s Go album on guitar with my friends. I find it easy to romanticise that time in my life, even though I was, without question, a disgruntled kid who badly wanted to escape my surroundings and see the world.

I was listening to a lot of the Irish bands The Undertones and Protex while writing this one, and I think there is a fair bit of their influence. Just the simplicity and big bar chords mostly.

Seth Manchester and I were very into the idea of adding piano and bells to the outro, akin to the Phil Spector-produced End of the Century album by The Ramones. The great Julianna Riolino sings with me on the choruses, too!

Alexis Taylor – ‘For a Toy’

Hot Chip’s Alexis has previewed his upcoming solo LP Paris in the Spring with a twinkly, vulnerable new song called ‘For a Toy’, which features vocals from Elizabeth Wight. “‘For a Toy; is about self-destructive behavior – but it’s not clear what the toy or plaything or distraction is that keeps getting in the way of the path the protagonist wants to be on,” he explained. “It’s amusing to me that a song which shares a lyric with a powerful grunge track by Neil Young could sound this pretty. The chorus explodes in an unexpected way with a lot of sonic bombast – so the song really opens up with drama. It’s as much about bathos as it is about pathos. There is some humor here, in the grandeur of self-pity. But most importantly, this song is stuck repeatedly asking ‘why do I do this?’ Music itself can be a plaything or toy that you can get hooked on – as much as the songs can be about getting hooked on something, or someone, or some pattern of behavior.”

“Elizabeth Wight adds glacial, ghostly vocal tones and interjections, which are closer to her opera singer upbringing than the deep goth house worlds she is known for with Mike Simonetti as Pale Blue,” Taylor added. “She brings the song to life.”

    Koyo – ‘Irreversible’

Koyo have announced a new LP, Barely Here, which is set for release on May 8. Featuring appearances from Drain’s Sammy Ciaramitaro and Fleshwater’s Marisa Shirar, it’s led by the uproarious new single ‘Irreversible’.

    Poison Ruïn – ‘Eidolon’

I love when heavy bands use Greek words, if only because I’m Greek and effortlessly know what they mean. ‘Eidolon’, the lead single from Poison Ruïn’s new album Hymns From the Hills, can mean both idol or phantom; it’s violent and exhilarating. “‘Eidolon’ is about being stuck in a broken reality, a cog in a fate-machine doomed to play out the same cursed loop until it fully breaks down,” Mac Kennedy expounded. “The ones who had the power to affect change have abandoned the scene. Their phantoms loom down in quiet disapproval of the disaster that slowly plays out beneath – Grim reminders of what could have, but will not be.”

Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart – ‘dawn | pulse’

Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart have announced their debut album as a trio, BODY SOUND, out March 20 via International Anthem. It’s preceded today by the pensive, serene composition ‘dawn | pulse’.

    mildred – ‘Fish Sticks’

mildred, who are about to go on tour with Naima Bock, have announced their debut album, Fenceline, out April 24. “‘Fish Sticks’ is a song of scenes from two worlds,” the band said of the smooth lead single. “Conversations with your boss. Acute workplace mediocrity. Riding home and eating fish sticks with your friends. For UK audiences, a fish stick is a fish finger, ideally Alaskan-caught cod. The song comes packaged in Fenceline, an album about conversations with old friends, little cousins, ceaseless piles of dust in your crumbling duplex, loves and theologians and their books. Fencelines mark two places but belong to neither. Neither nor, either or.”

  • Designing Our Dream Mermaid Look With Lyrics From Addison Rae’s ‘Aquamarine’

Designing Our Dream Mermaid Look With Lyrics From Addison Rae’s ‘Aquamarine’

Pop girls are so back. Leading the pack is Addison Rae. Some may have doubted her, but with the drop of ‘Diet Pepsi,’ our girl proved everyone wrong. Fans, new and OG, flocked to TikTok to lipsync to the addictingly caffeinated pop song and get the song climbing the charts. Addison even sang the song as a special guest on the Sweat Tour with Charli xcx and Troye Sivan. It was an instant hit, to say the least, and a hard song to follow. With many wondering what would come next for Addison, she suddenly started dropping hints online with mermaid, oyster, and sea shell emojis. That could only mean one thing, ‘Aquamarine’ was coming. 🦪🧜‍♀️🌊

The salty song has only been ours for a few days, but it’s already another smash hit with the music video already at 1.7 million views! To celebrate ‘Aquamarine’ and Addison’s success, we’re creating our dream mermaid look inspired by the most iconic lyrics in the song.

    Oyster Shell Bra

    The world is my oyster

It’s only fitting that our dream mermaid look incorporates oysters somehow. So why not make them our shell bra? And don’t worry, we won’t let the pearls go to waste! We’ll use them to make anklets, bracelets, and earrings for ourselves and our mer-friends. We know Addison would love this touch of detail – we hope we can make real custom jewelry for her one day!

    Aquamarine Blue Tail

    Aquamarine, honey dive into me

It would be a missed opportunity if we did not incorporate the title of the song into our look. Aquamarine is one of our favorite colors, so we had to make it the star of the show. Our mermaid tail will be a gorgeous shade of blue and green and maybe even have a little holographic shimmer to it as well. If you could design a mermaid tail in any color, what color would it be?

    Heart Of The Ocean Necklace

Heart of The Ocean around my neck

Addison gave us this inspiration all on her own! The Heart of The Ocean is an iconic dark blue necklace that you may have seen dangling around Rose’s neck in Titanic. We could definitely envision our mermaid look with this necklace, and it would match so beautifully with our aquamarine tail.

    Salt Hair

Swimmin’ in the sea with the salt in my hair

Our favorite part about going to the beach? Walking out of the water with shiny salty hair. Our mermaid look would be complete with a “wet hair” look and a lot of salt. So much salt that our hair and our skin would glisten even from the deepest depths of the ocean. Edward Cullen has nothing on us!

  • New Releases We Are Streaming This September

New Releases We Are Streaming This September

September is finally here, which means we’ve got tons of new music to listen to! From full-length albums to singles and EPs, our fall playlists are getting longer and longer every week. We’ve pulled just a few favorites from the queue to share with you (we know you’ll love them just as much as we do), so get cozy honeybees! It’s time to start September off on the right musical note.

    Joe P’s Garden State Vampire

You are crazy if you thought this album wasn’t going to make our list! We’re screaming bloody murder for Joe P because he’s our vampire crush wish come true 🩸. New Jersey may just be that girl. So many influential musicians have come from NJ like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, and now Joe P! We are so excited to watch his fame grow and grow.

From his latest album, Garden State Vampire, Joe P explores themes of nostalgia, feeling like you don’t belong, and learning how to love yourself.

One of the reasons I named the album Garden State Vampire is that I really thrive in being in a place that no one pays much attention to, instead of living in Nashville or L.A. or New York like a lot of people in the music business. It’s kind of nice to feel like I’m alone on a different planet, where the only thing that matters is staying true to whatever these songs want to be.

Joe P stated in a press release

Check out the music video for one of our favorite tracks, ‘Violet.’

You can catch Joe P live at Sea.Hear.Now in his home state of New Jersey or on his other world tour dates for the rest of 2024.

That’s why we simply had to add this song to our September list. ‘RIDIN’’ is an extension of her hit ‘SHUT UP,’ which we loved just as much. SOFI TUKKER’s BREAD

This duo is cooking up some heat in the kitchen! BREAD is an album full of every song you could ever need in a playlist. The love songs, the bangers, and the chill ones that every music lover would deem essential. Our faves are ‘Spiral,’ ‘Perfect Someone,’ and, of course, ‘Throw Some A**.’

The BREAD world is vivid – a celebration of life and sensuality intended to give the listener energy, just like carbs. Bread is also something people all around the world use to connect, gather and share. We’re reminded that it feels amazing to lose your inhibitions, feel energized and dance. The creative thread throughout BREAD explores togetherness, the magic of the Brazilian essence, which the music is inspired by, as well as a playful surrealism that says: live life to the fullest, eat all the BREAD, and BE REALLY ENERGETIC AND DANCE.

  • Two New Smashing Singles by Marlon Hoffman, Written by Davey Johnstone & Rick Otto, Soon to Be Released

Two New Smashing Singles by Marlon Hoffman, Written by Davey Johnstone & Rick Otto, Soon to Be Released

The Songs are Included on Hoffman’s Upcoming Record HOLY MATTERS, Co-Produced With Johnstone

“SUICIDE RIDE” and “RUNNIN OUTTA ROAD” are the first two singles to be released from the new album HOLY MATTERS by Marlon Hoffman. Both songs were written by Davey Johnstone (Elton John Band) and Rick Otto and are performed by Hoffman. The new songs dropping this summer are “SUICIDE RIDE” and “RUNNIN’ OUTTA ROAD.” Denny Seiwell, original member of WINGS, said, ‘SUICIDE RIDE’: No negotiation. This is bada** rock ‘n’ roll at its best — give me more, give me more, give me more!”

The new album HOLY MATTERS is to be released in September 2024 everywhere.

    Suicide Ride:  https://youtu.be/XFgXLKGVxbY

    Runnin’ Outta Road: https://youtu.be/qS3A0wSgGkU

When Johnstone heard his friend Marlon’s work with Marlon Hoffman Band (Le Happy & La Paix), he recognized that Hoffman’s “Outlaw” voice and performance style was perfect for these songs. They recorded at Hoffman’s Kenrose Studio where Johnstone recorded his album DEEPER THAN MY ROOTS in 2022. HOLY MATTERS is co-produced by Marlon Hoffman (Marlon Hoffman Band, The Clones STL, St. Louis Mopes) with Davey Johnstone (Elton John Band, Magna Carta, Alice Cooper, Stevie Nicks) and Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones, The Charlie Watts Quintet, Tackhead). Musicians on the song “Suicide Ride” include: Davey Johnstone on Electric, Acoustic, Bass and Slide Guitars; Jesse Johnstone on Drums; Adam Chester on Piano; Charlie Johnstone, Mixing.

“I’m running to the nearest record store to get this one. Marlon’s vocals are so honest and this bit of Americana rock ‘n’ roll southern style is really pulled across the finish line with Davey Johnstone’s production and mandolin as well as the single-note guitar lines that hearken back to the days of great music gone by.” — Denny Seiwell  (Original member of Wings)

Musicians on the album include Marlon Hoffman, Davey JohnstoneBernard Fowler (Rolling Stones), Phil Parlapiano (John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, Tracy Chapman), Stephen Ferrone (Average White Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), John O’Kennedy, Major Wynn, Jon Poli (Naked Eyes) and Jody Daley-Lovett.

Happy Cowboy Carter day– oops, I mean Friday — to all who celebrate. Yes, it feels a bit sacrilegious to work on Opening Day, Beyonce’s Release Day, and Good Friday, but I digress. Some of us have to stay strong and power through the workday while others are enjoying the singular sunny day we’ve had all week.

But, I’m not bitter. No. Because every Friday I jump out of bed and open my Spotify app, where I’m greeted by a plethora of new music that just makes the day go by quickly. And even better, I get to make a fresh playlist for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend.

With Easter coming up, we all have our plans to travel home and that entails tons of music. Whether you’re trying to ignore your family members, need something to pass the long hours traveling, or simply need some new tunes to fill your playlist with, I’ve got you covered. Because we all understand how difficult it can be to comb through every single playlist on Spotify, I do the work for you!

While you may be streaming Ariana Grande’s Written By playlist on Spotify, which includes some of her own smash hits like “7 Rings”, “Positions”, and “Into You”, and also features collaborations with Missy Elliott (“Borderline”), Lil Wayne (“Let Me Love You”), Nicki Minaj (“Bad to You”), Pharrell Williams (“Blazed”), and The Weeknd (“Off the Table”), among others…it’s time for new music.

It’s a new weekend filled with brand new music from artists like Beyonce, Becky Hill, and more. While Cowboy Carter has been all the rage as Beyonce makes her country debut, I took the time to shoutout a few songs you may have missed. I’m super excited, so let’s get listening!

    Becky Hill- “Outside Of Love”

As her album inches closer, Becky Hill proves time and time again that she can push boundaries in the dance community. She can make a heartfelt ballad feel like a dance party- having a unique ability to isolate her vocal abilities while uplifting her lyrics. “Outside of Love” is one of her best to-date, which means it only gets better from here. Becky says,

“I’m so proud to present my latest single ‘Outside Of Love.’ This song is a big anthemic dance ballad with fresh underground production and is one of the stand out moments of the new album. I wrote it with my long time collaborators Mike Kintish and Charlotte Haining ,and producers Parisi. I really hope people connect to this frustrated and isolated love song and still feel like they wanna dance their way through the shared sadness.”

    Anyma- Genesys II

Anyma is a dynamic character in the electronic dance music world. Not only a record label founder and performer in his own right, but a visionary in production and creating music. Following up his debut album, Genesys, Anyma continues to dazzle listeners with Genesys II.

Exciting and refreshing, Genesys II is exactly what you want from a sophomore album.

Louis The Child- “Falling” with NJOMZA & Daniel Allen

My favorite thing about Louis The Child is that they can take any track and turn it into something solely their own. With “Falling”, you get a perfect melancholic vibe that masks sad lyricism behind catchy beat drops. Louis The Child delivers yet another banger in their already impressive discography. They add,

“We have this thing we love to do when we make music with NJOMZA. We’ll write a song super slow based around some emotional chords, then strip the production, speed the whole song up, and reproduce with the song in mind. This was originally written at 128bpm and sounded like a slow ballad, nothing like what you hear now. We loved the songwriting, and when we got together with Daniel Allan, we played it for him and it was like ‘oh for sure let’s do this.’”

    Quinn XCII- “Pasadena”

His first song post-fatherhood, Quinn XCII returns with “Pasadena”- a reminder for all of us to just live our lives, because we’re too old to care. It’s about living in the moment, doing things for no reason just because you want to. Quinn XCII gives us the reminder that we don’t need to wait to do the things we love.

Whether it’s going to Pasadena, or eating breakfast for dinner, this song is a great reminder to live for yourself.

    YUNGBLUD- “Abyss”

Written as the opening track for the new anime series, Kaiju No. 8, YUNGBLUD traveled to Japan to write the song. What makes “Abyss” stand out is the attention to detail- how it perfectly encapsulates the struggle of the main character while remaining relatable. YUNGBLUD says,

“I think there are times when we feelthat the world is cruel and not necessarily made for us. I think that’s expressed very beautifully in the story, and it’s really in line with what I’m trying to achieve myself. Tofind my place in the world, to find my friends. Don’t suppress your hidden talents andpower, even if you can’t be proud of them yourself. Because everyone is beautiful”
