  • It May Not Be An ‘Afterglow,’ But It Is An ‘Overglow’ For These Blusher Matchups With Taylor Swift Songs

It May Not Be An ‘Afterglow,’ But It Is An ‘Overglow’ For These Blusher Matchups With Taylor Swift Songs

    [ad_1]

Ordering up one grungy greyscale-approved guitarist who attaches their siren calls to electric chords, a self-professed “Starlette” with braided hair better left whooshed in photos, and a pixie-fever, cheesing dream. Australia might’ve just stumbled upon the next Rock ‘Rave Angel.’ You know that we’re calling in the big guns here when we make Bratz references, but with one of the members of Blusher quite literally named Jade (just with an Alice following), we have grounds to. The other two fashionably chic girlies go by Miranda Ward and Lauren Coutts. You really have to drag out the rs in their names until your faux-Aussie accents give you the authentic true blue experience. Another icon in her own right, Kylie Minogue, already has. The girls recently supported her at British Summertime London Hyde Park!

See, we’ve already given you two pop culture reasons to support the girls! But if you need an extra one, we’ve got you. This one comes in a gangly, glitter-pop package, brackets seemingly going around just one of her names these days. Yep, it’s Taylor Swift! Blusher seems to have its own (Taylor’s Version) moment by having a single band member around a particular visualizer. Why’s that the case? Not only can they sing some bars, but they also know how to turn the dials in the production studio! This is a super cool way for each girl to lay their distinctive mark on a cohesive group assignment individually. So, we’re pairing Blusher with not just (Taylor’s Version) but Taylor herself by matching up their three latest tunes with a song from Tay Tay’s discography that fits the vibe!

    ‘Accelerator (Lauren’s Version)’

If the OG is like jumping into an already moving vehicle, the remix is more in tune with setting down an ocean-view highway at just the appropriate speed. At least that’s what the intro feels like, Lauren’s spiky heel slamming down on the breaks, switching lanes from a high-speed 200 hz/second, sensual ‘Accelerator’ to a hushed-down, whimsical intro. The pause, the momentary, leisurely waving of a striped handkerchief, prompts the second lap of a neurotic competition. Then we’re back to hearing the same revving from motor engines. “Sunlight in your eyes, when we touch, it’s like the stars collide,” a copy-paste of the pre-chorus to the intro. Or reversing if we’re following through on this car racing analogy properly. One that is full of these sparkly twinkles, like confetti for one’s ear.

As this crush-craving track speaks of the cloud nine one can be on when butterflies swarm one’s belly around someone they like, we’re matching it up with Taylor’s ‘Gorgeous.’

’24 Hours In Paris (Miranda’s Version)’

The swaying, cacophonous scatter of drums and sunset-tinged pink synths, Miranda’s stamp on ‘24 Hours In Paris’ is if a tourist picks up a croissant and starts using it as a microphone. Of course, what they’re saying would be illiterate to the locals if they were only to speak French, much like we’re only able to hear punching “uhs” and background vocal whisperings until the minute mark. But who needs distinctive words? Isn’t that what French kisses are for?

We’re pushing the Taylor Swift worldwide emotional map discography into the same location pin this resides in, ‘Paris.’ Or at least close to it! Taylor speaks of falling in love, whereas Blusher tells of falling apart. Even when we’re as dizzy as the constantly spinning aesthetic of the remix visualizer, we still can’t run so far from heartbreak.

    Still Loading ‘Overglow (Jade’s Version)’

So, the loading bar isn’t quite 100% on Jade’s ‘Overglow’ remix. Though we know it’s about to be the one thing we will have on constant rotation. For now, we’ll be just in love with its OG form. Instead of toxic partners sprouting tears all over Paree, the axil has spun again! The girls have become a shaky bundle of nerves of a bustling Tokyo, wondering if their muses know how smitten they feel. It’s for the cute video montages, the stolen glances on kaleidoscopic film, pretending as if we’re documenting the attractions. Still, we’re capturing every feature of our object of desire’s faces so we can hit replay back in our hotel rooms. There’s even an instrumental break that screams the kicking of one’s feet in anticipated glee.

That same lowercase-lettered unwillingness to scream out one’s love syncs up with Taylor’s ‘gold rush.’

Seeing the bell notification of Blusher dropping (Jade’s version) of ‘Overglow’ is a lot like waiting for the summer’s rays to turn a glowing golden for our perfect selfie lighting. It’s magical in the long run but dull waiting for each minute to pass until it’s the moment. What do you think the remix will sound like? Let us know on our socials, X, Instagram, and Facebook!

  • Lillian Hepler’s ‘Famous’ Will Help You Win The Breakup

Lillian Hepler’s ‘Famous’ Will Help You Win The Breakup

    [ad_1]

Relationships can be such a wonder. You meet someone, you love them, you plan everything together, look into the future, and see everything that could be for the two of you. Sadly, things don’t go quite as planned sometimes. Things can suddenly explode and implode all at once, and then comes the end of all of it. But we don’t let the bad situations or people get us down. Lillian Hepler feels the exact same after her breakup. Thankfully, she put all her heartbreak and power into an absolute anthem for us to enjoy with her new single, ‘Famous.’

Image Source: Courtesy of Tallulah PR

We don’t let the bad ones win around here, honey. No, no, no. Heartbreak is a ferocious thing to go through; sometimes, we want revenge for all the wrongs. Lillian Hepler is here to remind us with ‘Famous’ that within the heartbreak after the breakup, the best kind of revenge is moving on, not uttering their name, and pretending that they didn’t even exist in your life.

This song was born out of frustration as to how a lot of relationships tend to go these days. You meet someone, plan a future together, and then all hell breaks loose. They betray you, and you’re left watching this person move on without you. It feels like you’re always the bad guy and that they never have to face the consequences for the things they’ve said and done. But the best revenge is actually just moving on and never having their name come out of your mouth again.

Lillian Hepler on the meaning behind ‘Famous’

Moving on from a relationship after a breakup can take a lot of strength, and Lillian Hepler has given us that extra helping hand with ‘Famous.’ If you ever find yourself in the midst of heartbreak (And, please, we hope you never have to feel that, honey!), then please let this song be that powerful, inspiring reminder that moving on is the best kind of revenge you could ever take against your former lover.

People can only take credit if you give it to them, and I don’t like giving people who have hurt me the satisfaction of that. I just pretend they never existed.

Lillian Hepler on the meaning behind ‘Famous’

What a breakup anthem. Lillian Hepler truly took her heartbreak from the breakup and harnessed all of the emotions to give us ‘Famous.’ And we can’t thank her enough.

    Want To Hear More?

If you love ‘Famous’ by Lillian Hepler and are eager to hear more from her, don’t worry, honey! We gotchu! For an extra taste of what this rising star offers, we highly recommend ‘IDK Her,’ another anthem for those wanting inspiration to conquer heartbreak

But don’t stop there! Sit down, grab your favorite snack, and dive into the rest of her music and discover everything she has to offer. You won’t regret it, honey. You’ll quickly say, “Lillian Hepler is my favorite,” to all your friends in no time!

  • All The Fun Taylor Swift References On Jordana Bryant’s ‘Taylor 4 President’

All The Fun Taylor Swift References On Jordana Bryant’s ‘Taylor 4 President’

    [ad_1]

Our favorite stars, they’re just like us! You already know we at The Honey POP are huge Taylor Swift fans, and Jordana Bryant recently released the playful ‘Taylor 4 President’ to celebrate Taylor’s legacy and impact. The pop-country anthem will have you listening for Easter eggs and dancing around your room while you get hyped to vote in this November’s election. It’s yet another example of Jordana’s ability to write witty lyrics that will set up camp in your mind and heart!

As an 18-year-old getting ready to vote for the first time, I’m hopeful this election year to find a candidate who speaks to me – someone that I can get excited about supporting. I think what makes Taylor Swift a really powerful songwriter and entertainer is how she connects with her fans and how relatable her music is. It’d be wonderful to have someone running for president with that similar universal relatability and ability to connect all kinds of people. By releasing this song, I want to bring some lightheartedness to the genuine changes myself and my peers hope to see this November. If nothing else, I hope it’s a reminder for voters, especially first-time voters like myself, to vote for what they want their future to look like.

    Jordana Bryant

Listen to ‘Taylor 4 President’ below, then keep reading for our breakdown of the lyrical references Jordana slipped in to honor Taylor’s work! See how many you can figure out on your own before we compare notes 👀

“This Is The Time For A Matriarchy…”

Has there been a more iconic moment in Swiftiedom than finally hearing what lyric made ‘All Too Well (Ten Minute Version)’ explicit? There are very few moments that could top it! “F*ck the patriarchy” has gone on to become one of Taylor’s most rallying lyrics, with the crowds at the Eras Tour screaming it at the top of their lungs. And we still haven’t had a female president, so this tie-in works perfectly.

“You Said It Yourself That You’d Be The Man…”

Taylor did, in fact, say that she’d be the man! Her 2019 single ‘The Man’ reflects on the double standards that women and men face in the entertainment business and life in general. She notes that men are allowed to “brag about raking in dollars and getting b*tches and models” while women in the spotlight are often shamed for their business moves and dating lives. But she refuses to let that get her down, insisting, “if I was a man, then I’d be the man.”

“We Could Really Use Your Mastermind…”

In her music, visuals, and beyond, Taylor is a total creative powerhouse and always has such innovative ideas. This line specifically references her 2022 track ‘Mastermind,’ which plays with the idea that she plans absolutely everything out. Her powerful mind hasn’t let us down over the years!

“This Summer Would Be Far From A Cruel One…”

So we’ve all had ‘Cruel Summer’ on a constant repeat since the summer of 2019, right?! If not, get on that! The song has made history and become one of Taylor’s most well-known tracks, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 four years after its release thanks to the hype of the Eras Tour

“My Mother Would Breathe Easy If You Won…”

Yay, some recognition for the deep cuts on Taylor’s 2008 album, Fearless! ‘Breathe’ is a melancholy song about parting ways with a friend through a difficult time, and we love how Jordana spun the title here. Here, it’s almost like hoping not to part ways with the idea of a better future while you worry about the outcome of an election.

“It’s Time For The Era Where You’re In Control Of All Of The Polls…”

Taylor running for president would totally usher in a new era, and this line plays on the success of the Eras Tour to make that point! Eras is a career-spanning victory lap for Taylor to celebrate her legacy and music with millions of fans worldwide, both physically at the shows with social content, and through fan livestreams of the concerts.

“You’d Be The Best Thing In The West Wing / With Her Own Kind Of Army…”

The second verse of ‘Taylor 4 President’ includes two references to the lyrics of Taylor’s song ‘You’re Losing Me,’ which was a Vault addition to Midnights. The lyrics in question are “I’m the best thing at this party” and “fighting in only your army.” Jordana flipped the latter to reference the military power the president has, while also celebrating Swifties and their passionate support for Taylor!

    “Queen Of 13…”

Finally, we can’t have a tribute to Taylor without referencing her lucky number, 13! She used to paint it on the back of her hand before every concert, often won her earliest awards while sitting in the 13th row of seats, and now has a bedazzled 13 on her silver Fearless guitar on the Eras Tour.

  • TXT Celebrate Their Bond In ‘We’ll Never Change’ And CHIKAI

TXT Celebrate Their Bond In ‘We’ll Never Change’ And CHIKAI

    [ad_1]

Another TOMORROW X TOGETHER comeback, another arrow straight to our hearts! Back with their fourth Japanese single, CHIKAI, TXT has continued the trajectory they began earlier this year with TOMORROW, by which we mean they’ve decided to hit us where it hurts.

CHIKAI translates to ‘oath,’ and that’s exactly what this single album is. Across three tracks, the members restate their dedication to one another, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. TXT are always busy, but 2024 is proving to be one of the most intense yet. Following the back of TOMORROW‘s global success, TXT are in the middle of their third world tour, ACT: PROMISE. They’re also developing more and more notoriety in the fashion space and have attended Paris Fashion Week twice so far this year, and three of the five members have launched their own solo variety shows. See what we mean? You couldn’t dedicate yourself to all of that unless you really meant it.

TXT continues to grow but don’t worry, they’ll never change…

    ‘We’ll Never Change’

First of all, can we take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous that harp is? We absolutely love that TXT emphasizes it in the choreography, which is as ethereal and dainty as the song deserves.

The layers in both the vocals and the track are stunning, we’re obsessed with the delicacy of the guitar, and overall the song is just so soothing. The tape sound effect in the production adds to the wistful sentimentality, and we couldn’t love it more if we tried. A reverent homage to friendship, ‘We’ll Never Change’ is the latest in a long list of nostalgic TXT songs.

Even at a distance, even as we get older, one oath, we’re never, we’re never, we’re never changing.

    ‘We’ll Never Change’ lyrics

Our tubatu sing of “Blending into each other, filling each other’s gaps,” as “love sparkles,” and we couldn’t agree with them more. As a group with distinct personalities, performance styles, and musical tastes, MOA has long known how well TXT balances each other out. After all, as they say, “Our ‘difference’ is not ‘wrong.’”

    ‘We’ll Never Change’ Music Video

And as for the ‘We’ll Never Change’ music video? It’s delicious agony from start to finish. It opens with a flying light very similar to the fox from the ‘Deja Vu’ music video, and that’s not the end of the links. Just as ‘Deja Vu’ referenced so many of their Korean music videos, ‘We’ll Never Change’ does the same for TXT’s Japanese discography.

TXT all play football together, just as they do in the ‘Run Away (Japanese Version)’ video, but this time Beomgyu is properly in the group now (and doesn’t fall off a bike in this entire MV, which feels like the biggest miracle of all). They all seem to have grown-up jobs now (boo), but what hasn’t changed is their love for their friendship. Yeonjun, who cleans a cinema, sheds tears as he watches their memories on the big screen. It adds to the lore theory that the members only exist inside his head, which makes us wanna bawl our eyes out, TBH.

    ‘Deja Vu (Japanese Version)’

One thing you should know about ‘Deja Vu?’ It’s a triple threat. One of the best K-Pop songs of 2024 now has three versions! We’re so happy to add the Japanese version to our playlist rotation alongside the original and the ‘Anemoia Remix.’ Sandwiching it in between the other two tracks on CHIKAI really emphasizes its emotional intensity, whilst allowing the other songs to be more gentle, light-hearted moments.

    ‘Kitto Zutto (きっとずっと)’

Is it really a TXT comeback if there isn’t a pop-punk-inspired b-side? We guess we’ll never know. ‘Kitto Zutto’ was produced by the one and only diamond maknae, Huening Kai! He adds this to his list of credits including the likes of ‘Dear Sputnik,’ and it’s so cool to see his identity as a producer becoming more and more distinct.

Lyrically, TXT continues to twist the nostalgia-imbued knife. ‘Kitto Zutto’ or ‘きっとずっと’ approximately translates to ‘undoubtedly always.’ Is it just us, or did you immediately think of TOMORROW b-side ‘Miracle,’ too? TXT was singing about how the biggest miracle in their daily life is each other (‘Miracle’) and they promise their future is “you” (‘Deja Vu’), and now they’re doubling down on it with lyrics like this…

I promise, no matter what, surely, always, I will be right beside you

    ‘Kitto Zutto’ Lyrics (translation credit)

See? We weren’t exaggerating when we said that TXT is out to hit us in the feels with CHIKAI, and basically everything else they’ve done in 2024.

So, what’s next for our tubatu? All five members (including Beomgyu, despite his injury!) are currently in Japan promoting ‘We’ll Never Change,’ and then TXT will embark on their first dome tour across Japan, starting in Tokyo on July 10th.

What’s your favorite track from TXT’s CHIKAI? Are you drowning in nostalgia like we are? Let us know on Twitter @TheHoneyPOP! You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram!

  • How aespa’s ‘Hot Mess’ Connects To The Rest Of Their Discography

How aespa’s ‘Hot Mess’ Connects To The Rest Of Their Discography

    [ad_1]

It’s been almost four years since aespa (and their aes) started lighting up our lives, yet they’re still finding innovative new ways to show us new sides of their art while also building on the worlds they’ve already created. Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning’s debut Japanese single, ‘Hot Mess,’ is such a fun addition to their catalog that includes throwbacks to many of their past songs! Whether you’re a new MY or a longtime fan and just want to make sure you’ve caught everything, here’s our breakdown of the references you can keep an ear (and eye) out for.

    “A hot mess…”

From pretty much the beginning of aespa, MYs have had a joke that Giselle is the resident Hot Girl of K-Pop because of her talent and the fact that her high school yearbook quote was Paris Hilton’s “that’s hot” catchphrase. Since then, it’s made its way into their music in the form of Giselle’s ‘2HOT4U’ solo, as well as the OT4 songs ‘Next Level,’ ‘Spicy,’ and ‘Supernova.’

Giselle is the only Japanese member of aespa, so it’s cute that aespa made the name of their Japanese debut tie into one of her inside jokes!

The first of a few different references to aespa’s Drama mini-album and era! The girls remind us not to blink and miss something important after warning someone not to let their guard down on ‘Don’t Blink.’

“If you likе it, I can take you to MY WORLD…”

Face it, everyone loved it when aespa took us to their world on the MY WORLD mini-album last year! With songs like ‘Spicy’ and ‘Thirsty,’ it really was one of the most iconic eras of the girls’ career so far. Another iconic aespa song notably references MY WORLD, but we’ll get to that shortly…

    “Hidden ænergy, dream designer…”

From the first time we heard ‘ænergy’ on aespa’s 2021 Savage mini-album, we know it’d go down in history as one of the best opening tracks in K-Pop history! It set the scene for a powerful EP that let aespa show off their fierce personalities, and the title describes their strengths and charms. Here, they’re flaunting how those strengths and charms have let them design the life of their dreams.

“Drama has begun, this is not fiction…”

We think the strongest ties ‘Hot Mess’ has with any past aespa song are with ‘Drama!’ Not only is there this name-drop, but both songs reference MY WORLD and there are a whole lot of connections in the ‘Hot Mess’ music video. Let’s break them down!

During the first chorus of the ‘Hot Mess’ video, one shot shows Winter through a car backup camera that says, “Check surroundings for your safety.” It kind of reminded us of the ominous message we got in the beginning of the ‘Drama’ music video: “Please follow [these] rules while watching the Drama. Look back immediately when you feel a presence in the dark. If your reflection in the mirror tries to shake your hand, do not let it.”

Winter winds up freefalling off a building during the bridge of ‘Hot Mess,’ much like she does in the ‘Drama’ music video after Ningning seems to drop her. Later in the ‘Drama’ video, Winter refuses to let Karina fall the same way, and keeps a tight grip on her wrist.

Finally, the last chorus of ‘Hot Mess’ shows aespa as giants in a modern city. Yup, you know where we’re heading with this: it almost definitely connects to the Giant teasers from the Drama era! We think this is the most clear confirmation that ‘Hot Mess’ and ‘Drama’ belong in the same universe.

The animated characters in the ‘Hot Mess’ music video also reminded us of the ones we see in the ‘Savage’ video, and ‘Drama’ mentions ‘Savage’ in its chorus! Could this be another connection? Maybe each of these three songs take place in the same section of aespa’s multiverse, and these animated characters are their versions of aes…

Which track on aespa’s Hot Mess single album is your favorite? Did you notice all of these references on your own? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Feel The ‘Strawberry Rush’ With Chuu’s Second Mini-Album

Feel The ‘Strawberry Rush’ With Chuu’s Second Mini-Album

    [ad_1]

Chuu’s first mini-album was a perfect release to introduce the world to who she really is as an artist. While we still haven’t gotten tired of those incredible songs, Chuu isn’t wasting any time, and she’s back with her first solo comeback, Strawberry Rush! And yes, it’s just as good as (if not better than) Howl

    The Title Track

After ‘Howl,’ Chuu taps into retro and city pop for her new title track, ‘Strawberry Rush.’ The song is energetic and fun but still has undertones full of hope and emotions. The surprising rap parts are a cute highlight of this song. ‘Strawberry Rush’ is all about support, love and reassurance. It embodies Chuu’s positive side perfectly – it’s sweet, full of flavor, and full of love. Overall, it’s such a fresh and addictive song, perfect for the summer.

Right from her debut, Chuu created a visual world of her own with her music videos, and the music video for ‘Strawberry Rush’ continues in that world. In ‘Howl,’ Chuu comes out of the dark and embraces the idea that life comes with uncertainty but also beauty. With ‘Strawberry Rush,’ we’re thrown into a world full of color, fun animations, and creativity. If ‘Strawberry Rush’ didn’t give you the serotonin boost you needed by itself, its music video will do it.

    The B-sides

Chuu stuck to the style and energy she had displayed on her first mini-album and we love that. But she still manages to give us fresh and unique songs in Strawberry Rush that expand her range. ‘Honeybee’ is a sweet, summery track clearly inspired by bossa nova. It showcases the softer, more lowkey side of her vocals, and the play on words all throughout the song makes it even better.

Chuu has been known for always bringing happiness and spreading positivity. And that’s precisely what she does with her music, but even more so with ‘Daydreamer.’ In this b-side, Chuu sings about romanticizing everyday life, seeing the bright side of things, and daydreaming about a beautiful world. ‘Daydreamer’ captures the magic of creativity and finding beauty in everything, both in the lyrics and the instrumental.

‘Lucid Dream’ has to be one of the main highlights of Strawberry Rush. In this beautiful song, Chuu sings about embracing her dreams and believing in herself against all odds. ‘Lucid Dream’ has a certain vulnerability to it, both with its vocals and melodies, all while remaining optimistic. It’s a true celebration of Chuu’s path, dream, talent and art.

Strawberry Rush closes with ‘Chocolate’ and its English version, a special single Chuu released for Valentine’s Day earlier this year. It’s a cute, addictiv,e and upbeat love song. Even months after its release, we’re still obsessed with this one. With the video game motifs, ‘Chocolate’ fits perfectly into Strawberry Rush, making it an even brighter release.

Chuu continues to brighten our lives with her music and expands her world through her music, music videos, and artistic vision. Strawberry Rush is a perfect mini-album for the summertime and a killer first comeback. Chuu is a solo artist everyone should have in their playlist right now.

Are you loving ‘Strawberry Rush’ as much as we are? What’s your favorite b-side on Chuu’s new mini-album? Be sure to let us know by tweeting us at @thehoneypop or visiting us on Facebook and Instagram.

  • Matching Red Velvet’s Cosmic Songs To Zodiac Constellations

Matching Red Velvet’s Cosmic Songs To Zodiac Constellations

    [ad_1]

Our love for Red Velvet is nothing short of cosmic, and that’s especially true now that we’ve heard their latest EP, Cosmic. Ever since their debut in 2014, they’ve consistently delivered incredible songs, music videos, and more that have cemented their way into K-Pop history. Cosmic is a stunning culmination of a decade of hard work, success, and magic that’s guaranteed to win over any girl group fan!

The Cosmic mini-album celebrates the group’s 10th anniversary with a beautiful fusion of their Red and Velvet concepts, mixing their signature harmonies and R&B influences with bubbly energy and sparkling excitement. This duality also pops up in the era’s visuals – most of the concept photos were space-themed and ethereal, while the ‘Cosmic’ music video takes place in a meadow à la Midsommar

With the cosmic theme in mind, venture “through the solar system” and into the cosmos with us as we assign each track on Cosmic to a different zodiac constellation!

    ‘Cosmic’

Our first peek into Red Velvet’s latest era came with the title track ‘Cosmic,’ which is a sparkly anthem for summer love! Throughout the song, Red Velvet likens their hearts to a star that “tells [them] she’s a bit lonely” as they start falling for someone. They’re ready to take on the world with this new lover by their side! And the chorus’ “riding your rhythm through the solar system” lyric is a fun nod to their 2022 song ‘Feel My Rhythm.’

The Gemini constellation would be a great match for this song since it’s about connection and unity! That symbolism comes from the Greek myth of Castor and Pollux, who were twin brothers despite having different dads. It reminds us of how the members of Red Velvet are like sisters now, even if they aren’t related!

    “‘Come with me,’ you say
‘Discover things no human eyes have seen,’ you say
    I just can’t say goodnight…”

    ‘Sunflower’

‘Sunflower’ is an energetic, adorable song about the thrilling rush of love. It’s as bright as a ‘Sunflower!’ If someone wrote something this sweet about us, we think we’d collapse on the spot. The “I’ll find you in my dreams, driving forward” lyric might be a callback to ‘In My Dreams,’ one of our all-time fave Red Velvet songs, which makes us love this track even more. Our constellation pick for this one is Aries, since it often symbolizes new beginnings and adventure. What an exciting way to describe a new relationship!

“I might melt away in your universe
    You got me hypnotized…”

    ‘Last Drop’

Is it really a Red Velvet EP if we don’t shed a few tears? We think not, and ‘Last Drop’ was the song that brought on the waterworks! Full of pretty synths and guitar strums, it’s all about Red Velvet’s love and appreciation for Reveluvs who have supported them over the years. Even with how difficult it can be in the music industry, they promise to keep delivering amazing music for us and giving us every last drop of effort. We also love how the “dazzling night festival” lyric references their iconic The ReVe Festival albums.

Our official constellation choice for ‘Last Drop’ is Cancer, which symbolizes loyalty. We’ll always be loyal supporters of Red Velvet!

“I’ll fly lightyears to find you
To you, who made me shine bright in the boundless night
To you, my universe and the only reason I exist…”

    ‘Love Arcade’

‘Love Arcade’ has already become one of our favorite Red Velvet b-sides thanks to its creative theme and production! The song compares love to a game that the girls are ready to take on, and its retro pop sounds that sound like a classic video game soundtrack will make you feel like you’re really in a fun arcade. We think the Scorpio constellation would be the best match – it symbolizes passion, strategy, and power, which are three important things when you’re playing a game.

“Everything is ready, there are no rules (Make a new stage)
Should we end this boring quest?
    Let’s go to the top…”

    ‘Bubble’

‘Bubble’ is an energizing, synth-infused track about exploring the world and embracing all its possibilities with the right person by your side. And since this is RV’s anniversary comeback, we think it’s about the group themselves! They’ve made the global music scene their “shiny” stage together and it’s been so fun to watch over the years, especially with how many different sounds and concepts they’ve explored. We’d match up ‘Bubble’ with the Sagittarius constellation, which represents exploration!

“I want to be with you wherever you go
Following your light because all dreams become clearer…”

    ‘Night Drive’

The Cosmic mini-album ends with ‘Night Drive,’ a midtempo synthpop song with a relaxing edge, which would make the perfect soundtrack for an actual ‘Night Drive’ down a city street. It tells a story about enjoying a night drive with someone you care about, possibly as a celebration of Red Velvet’s members or Reveluvs. We think ‘Night Drive’ would totally pair well with the Pisces constellation, which is associated with love and escapism! The symbolism comes from a Greek myth in which Aphrodite and her son, Eros, escape a monster by turning into fish.

“You tell me, ‘I’ll always be by your side, I promise…’”

  • Find Your Perfect Bass Guitar Based On Your Favorite RIIZE RIIZING Song

Find Your Perfect Bass Guitar Based On Your Favorite RIIZE RIIZING Song

    [ad_1]

One thing about K-POP phenomenon RIIZE is that they love their instruments, especially those guitars. How do we know? Well, we’ve all heard their irresistible song ‘Get A Guitar,’ and we’ve all witnessed that epic MMA performance in 2023 where Wonbin rocked the stage with his guitar.

Plus, if you’re like us, always keeping up with all things RIIZE on social media, you’ve seen them flaunting their colorful bass guitars while promoting their latest single, ‘Boom Boom Bass.’ This track both completes and marks the arrival of their first mini album, RIIZING, which we’re here to celebrate in style. To mark the release of RIIZING, we’re matching you with a bass guitar inspired by your favorite song from RIIZE’s first mini album, RIIZING.

    ‘Boom Boom Bass’

Kicking off the album is ‘Boom Boom Bass,’ a pop dance anthem with funky disco beats and a groovy bass line that screams excitement. It’s got catchy melodies and insane dance breaks and features choreography by members Shotaro, Sungchan, Wonbin, and Anton. If ‘Boom Boom Bass’ is your favorite song from RIIZING, we’re pairing you with a blue and green bass guitar, where the colors collide like those abstract vinyl pressings. Inspired by the opening of the music video, where we see a guitar dramatically descending to earth, it’s the only fitting choice.

    ‘Siren’

‘Siren’ is an icon and a must-have on any RIIZE playlist. It’s bold and confident, demanding attention. Plus, it’s a classic for any BRIIZE. So, if ‘Siren’ is your top pick, a deep red bass guitar is your match. We’re inspired by the impact of the song and the album artwork for this one, so going red will make your guitar as striking and unforgettable as the song itself.

    ‘Impossible’

‘Impossible’ has become the summer anthem of 2024. Everyone loves it, and we mean everyone! Even the pets of social media are living their best lives with ‘Impossible‘ as the soundtrack. With its vibrant summer vibes, we’re pairing you with an orange-bodied bass guitar. This choice is inspired by the sunny scenes of Lisbon’s colorful Alfama neighborhood, which sets the scene for the ‘Impossible’ music video.

    ‘9 Days’

If ‘9 Days‘ is your favorite track, you’re a hard worker with clear goals and a passion for creativity. So, we’re paring you with a white bass. It’s clean and versatile, reflecting the song’s beat and endless possibilities for customization. Just like RIIZE are on their own creative journey, your white bass can be customized to represent you and your personal journey.

    ‘Honestly’

We can’t blame you if ‘Honestly’ tops your list. The ethereal vibes from the boy’s harmonies and vocals make us feel like we’re floating. For this dreamy track, we’re pairing you with a gold sparkly bass guitar. Think Taylor Swift’s Fearless but in guitar form – those gold sparkles are like the rush of emotions we get from the song.

    ‘One Kiss’

One Kiss‘ is wholesome and refreshing, just like a bright new day. The music video’s fun and lively waterfront scenes inspired us to match this song with an ocean-blue bass guitar. It’s the perfect reflection of the boy’s playful energy on this track.

    ‘Talk Saxy’

Moving onto such a classic in RIIZE’s discography, choosing the body color of a bass to represent ‘Talk Saxy’ was a challenge. But we’ve settled on midnight black with silver sparkles that glimmer in the light and give it that extra sexy flair. It’s sleek, stylish, and oh-so-RIIZE!

    ‘Love119’

Love119‘ gives us cozy winter vibes; perhaps it’s that album artwork we can’t stop thinking about. This soft song calls for a unique ice blue bass with hints of purple and, of course, a textured heart stamped on the body to capture the charm this song holds.

With every release, RIIZE carry themselves with such sophistication you’d think they’ve been in the industry for decades. Now we’re passing the mic (or should we say guitar) to you. What are your favorite songs on RIIZING? What bass did we pair you with? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter, DiscordFacebook, and Instagram.

  • Showing Love To Heather Mae’s Queer Love Anthem ‘kissing girls’

Showing Love To Heather Mae’s Queer Love Anthem ‘kissing girls’

    [ad_1]

Pride month is right around the corner, but it’s never too early to celebrate! Heather Mae gives us the queer anthem of the season with her new single, ‘kissing girls.’ It is all about learning to love (and learning to love yourself). ‘kissing girls’ is fun, raw, and intimate.

    ‘kissing girls’

Showcasing a variety of relationships and symbolizing love does, in fact, come in all shapes and sizes, the music video for ‘kissing girls’ is simple in all the right ways! After all, love is already complicated. Why add to it? We’re obsessed with the makeshift photo booth, impromptu dance party, and home movie-esque shots. It makes us feel like we’re right there with her, giving this personal song that extra personal touch.

Growing up in church and the Evangelical movement, the only representation of LGBTQ+ people that I was familiar with were the kids who got kicked out for being queer. Even though my first crush was on a girl, I hid the truth of what that meant to protect myself from losing my entire community. This is why visibility is profoundly important to me

    Heather Mae

In ‘kissing girls,’ Heather doesn’t just show off her vocals but also her incredible songwriting ability. A captivating story from beginning to end, she shares her own path and experiences beautifully. From whimsical lyrics about playing as children and sleeping over after softball games to exploring why she felt the need to hide herself, Heather Mae takes you on a journey. She may have been kissing girls as long as she’s been kissing boys, but this song isn’t just for the bisexuals. ‘kissing girls’ is a song for everyone!

‘kissing girls’ celebrates not only queer joy but also pays a heartfelt tribute to the transgender community—highlighting the journey of transitioning and the steadfast love of supportive partners.

A bisexual love song for people who have loved or been loved by someone who was transgender. We deserve to hear our love songs on the radio, too.

    Heather Mae

‘kissing girls’ is a warm hug of heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies you’ll want to listen to over and over again. We guarantee each time you do, you’ll find something new to love. We know we have!

Stream ‘kissing girls’ by Heather Mae on Spotify and Apple Music!

  • Our Feelings For The Script’s New Single Go ‘Both Ways’ For Sure

Our Feelings For The Script’s New Single Go ‘Both Ways’ For Sure

    [ad_1]

One of our absolute favorite bands of all time is The Script. These guys have been making music for almost two decades now and have been the soundtrack to some very important moments in our lives. Which is why we’re stoked to see them back with another single and an album announcement! ‘Both Ways’ came out on Friday and it’s already made its way into our playlists and our hearts.

The song seems to be a preview of what we can expect from The Script in the coming months: high energy, funky beats accompanied by lead singer Danny O’Donoghue’s powerful voice. And, of course, the promise that there is hope and light after dark times. And if you think we didn’t cry listening to “If you miss me like I miss you, then the feeling goes both ways” at the end of the chorus, then you’d be wrong.

‘Both Ways’ is the best way (hehe) to start off this new era of The Script and we cannot wait to see what comes next in their story. But we do have one clue: the band is set to release a new album, called Satellite, on August 16, which will include ‘Both Ways’ as the opener and 11 more tracks we cannot wait to hear. And if we had to guess, we’d say this is going to be quite the emotional ride, as Satellites is the first album the band will record and release after the passing of guitarist Mark Sheehan last year.

“The album cover is silhouettes of me, Glen, and Ben Sargeant, our bassist, who’s been with us from the beginning. Then we have a hooded silhouette, because the air of Mark is still there. He always will be, but it’s also giving a tip of the hat to the future. It’ll never be the same Script. We’re just trying to get on and do what it is that we all feel is the next right thing to do and that’s to keep making more great music.”

And if you think that’s all, think again, dear reader! Because not only are The Script giving us a full album soon, they’re also heading back to the stage on a North American tour along with P!nk between August and October of this year, with a few headline shows in between as well. You can check out the full list of dates on their website here.

And what did you think of ‘Both Ways?’ Tell us all about it by chatting with us on Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook. We’d love to hear what you have to say!

  • Take A Musical Journey Of Jennifer Love Hewitt To ‘Islands In The Stream’ And Beyond

Take A Musical Journey Of Jennifer Love Hewitt To ‘Islands In The Stream’ And Beyond

    [ad_1]

For fans of the hit series 9-1-1, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s cover of ‘Islands in the Stream’ is beyond special. In some corners of the internet, it’s quickly become the theme song for the couple – loving nicknamed “Madley” following a heartwarming karaoke scene in season two. Now, Jennifer Love Hewitt has graced us all with a ballad to play at their wedding as a true treat to avid watchers!

    ‘Islands In The Stream’

..when Kenny Choi (Howie “Chimney” Han) does emotional scenes, he likes to listen to music, and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney’s song is “Islands in the Stream,” which they performed in the karaoke episode. So, I got together with my friend (producer) Nick Marzock, and we recorded a ballad version of it.

Jennifer Love Hewitt on the cover of ‘Islands in the Stream’

But for 90s kids, we’ve known that Jennifer Love Hewitt has always had the pipes. Some of you may have forgotten her late 90s/early 2000s music career, but we never will! In celebration of this new release, let’s take a look at a few other Jennifer Love Hewitt deep cuts you need to listen to right now!

    ‘BareNaked’

Calling out the bad days and self-doubt we all go through, ‘BareNaked’ was a radio anthem. All about being confident in yourself no matter what comes along, it’s a smash. Written by music industry phenom Meredith Brooks, Jennifer Love Hewitt was the first to remind us that “life’s what you make it” before the days of Hannah Montana.

    ‘Cool With You’

As the lead single off her self-titled album, ‘Cool With You’ is an R&B-infused bittersweet love song. Released in 1996, this song introduced us to a smoother, sultry version of Jennifer Love Hewitt that was right with the times. Working with artists like Smokey Robinson and Deborah Cox, this album is a real late-90s gem.

    ‘Can I Go Now’

Another track penned by Meredith Brooks, ‘Can I Go Now,’ didn’t get its flowers when it was released but is now considered a cult classic and basically a 2003 time capsule. From the dark eye make up, low cut jeans, right down to the angst, she proved to the world that she had soul and attitude.

You can stream all of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s greatest hits on Spotify and Apple Music!

  • Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Friday

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Friday

    [ad_1]

After a week full of 60+ degree weather in New York, I’m officially read to slam the laptop shut and enter the weekend. I’m bathing suit shopping online, I’m spending time basking in the short-lived early spring weather, and I’m absolutely gearing up to make another playlist to get through the weekend.

Since this weekend is St. Patrick’s Day, I’m sure many of you are traveling to hotspots like Boston and New York for parades and soul-crushing crowds. The only way to get through this weekend of horrors? Lots of music, and even more green beer. Doctor’s orders.

But, you can’t keep replaying your same old playlist with songs your friends have heard come over your speakers time and time again. People will stop letting you get aux if you can’t deliver a dance-worthy playlist that’s both refreshing and timeless. That’s where I come in, dear reader.

I love to deliver a playlist filled with new music releases today, March 15, 2024. So get your Spotify accounts ready, because it’s time to see what’s in store for this week! Let’s get listening.

    ZAYN- “What I Am”

He’s baaaacckkk. Former member of One Direction, Zayn Malik, left the band (and should be paying my therapy bills for this) in 2015 and completely switched direction (pun intended). Now an R&B soul god, ZAYN has found his stride with “What I Am.”

I think just being where I was at that time, staying away from things and living with my own thoughts inspired me to want to write something from that place. I’ve got to put this out as a whole body of work, it’s something for myself, not even just for the world,” says Zayn.

I worried at first that ZAYN wouldn’t be able to create a stylistically different track without sounding repetitive. “What I Am” highlights his vocals without going overboard, conveys yearning, longing, and melancholy all in one. It’s an easy listen. Zayn Malik, you’ll always be famous.

    Cardi B- “Enough (Miami)”

If you’ve been missing Old Cardi, she’s here. With “Enough (Miami)”, Cardi goes back to her roots: classic rap, biting lyrics, a hook that gets you out of your seat. It’s reminiscent of classics like “Bodak Yellow”, where Cardi tells it as it is: you can’t beat her, you can’t even be her.

    Kacey Musgraves- “The Architect”

With one of the most satisfyingly crisp voices in country music, Kacey Musgraves delivers “The Architect” on a silver platter. It’s introspective, beckoning the listener to really look inside themselves and wonder who’s the architect of their lives. A song about not fully understanding someone, something, or everything, “The Architect” is one-of-a-kind.

Ahead of her new album, Deeper Well, which she promises to be a “cleanse” of sorts for listeners, “The Architect” is a great intro.

    Zack Bia, Teezo Touchdown- “DAMN”

Any weekend should be met with house music, which is why Zack Bia and Teezo Touchdown’s “DAMN” is a perfect fit. Something light and easy, “DAMN” is the perfect track to lead off a night out, or to help you get hyped up while getting ready. Zack Bia is known for his commitment to the nightlife scene, so it’s no surprise that this track embodies a night out with your friends.

Sydney Sherrill- “Boy In The Blue Cadillac”

Alongside her debut album, 17 Young and Stunning, Sydney Sherrill releases vocal powerhouse single, “Boy In The Blue Cadillac.” Few singer-songwriters can belt out a commanding chorus riddled with guitar trills and have such an impact as Sydney Sherrill does.

Singing from the perspective of her 17-year-old self, 17 Young and Stunning, takes us through the throes of adolescence. From finding your first love to figuring out who you really are in the world, Sherrill knows how confusing growing up can be. “Boy In The Blue Cadillac” sends you back in time in the best way.

    Cloonee- “Sippin’ Yak (We Like)”

Cloonee is in high demand: with both weekends of Coachella booked, a headline LIV Beach Las Vegas residency, a show at the Brooklyn Mirage, and more, fans flock to see a performance no matter where he is. After teasing “Sippin’ Yak” on socials and in live sets, Cloonee is finally releasing the track ahead of all of these major performances.

“Sippin’ Yak (We Like)” is an instant hit for fans of tech house with an intricate eye for production and style.

  • Lana Del Rey Releases New Single

Lana Del Rey Releases New Single

    [ad_1]

Lana Del Rey proves once again that she is the queen of spooky lo-fi piano ballads. Her new single,”Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it” is as lyrically dense as the long-winded title suggests, beautifully following Del Rey through a consideration of fame, family, and womanhood. But what sets the song apart is the juxtaposition of the timeless ballad style sung in Del Rey’s lilting voice, and the modern violence of her words.

It’s an objectively pretty song, but more importantly, it commits to its own theatricality whole heartedly. It’s perfectly stylized teenage angst forcing every listener to feel something of the pubescent-glory of a 15-year-old girl weeping into her pink bed spread, mourning everything and nothing. Its absurdly melodramatic, and yet somehow earnest and hopeful too.

    Among the best lines are:

“I’ve been tearing around in my fucking nightgown/24/7 Sylvia Plath”

“Shaking my ass is the only thing that’s/Got this black narcissist off my back/She couldn’t care less, and I never cared more/So there’s no more to say about that”

“Servin’ up God in a burnt coffee pot for the triad/Hello, it’s the most famous woman you know on the iPad/Calling from beyond the grave, I just wanna say, ‘Hi, Dad.’”

Each line is written so informally they sound like viral tweets, but what the song lacks in grandiose language, it more than makes up for in concentration of feeling. Paired with the spooky, airy soundscape and perfectly minimal production, the poetry of the single creates an inescapable swell of nostalgia.

“Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it” clads you in a silk, victorian-style nightgown, places you in a candle lit room with a baby grand piano…but then it covers the baby grand in lines of coke, hangs Taylor Lautner posters and cosmo clippings on the walls, and adds a strobe light. It’s the perfect absurd teen anthem for this particular moment in time, and leaves us in anticipation of Lana Del Rey’s upcoming album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, expected out sometime this year.
