Wicked: For Good is slowly creeping toward release day. We’ve been keeping up with every magical moment from this year’s press tour, including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s premiere stops in Singapore and New York. We’ve also been preparing for the new film by replaying our favorite moments from Wicked: One Wonderful Night – we can’t get enough of those shimmering, fantastical costumes! By the way, did we say that we’re going into Wicked: For Good *almost* completely blind? Other than these songs, we have no idea what to expect (assuming we should bring a box of tissues).
Here is every song you can expect to hear in Wicked: For Good, including new additions to the stage musical’s songs. Pre-save the film’s album and listen right on November 21 when it releases.

The Wicked: For Good Soundtrack
‘Every Day More Wicked’ (This is a new addition to the soundtrack! If you see Wicked live on Broadway anytime soon, you shouldn’t expect to hear this song onstage. It’s a brand new song exclusive to the new film, performed by Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh. We expect nothing but greatness from these three powerhouse women on our screens!)
‘Thank Goodness/I Couldn’t Be Happier’
‘No Place Like Home’ (Another new addition to the film! ‘No Place Like Home’ is a nod to the original Wizard of Oz and is sung by Cynthia Erivo. We have no idea what to expect for this one – we can’t wait for opening night!)
‘The Wicked Witch Of The East’
‘Wonderful’
‘I’m Not That Girl (Reprise)’ (‘I’m Not That Girl’ was our favorite song from Wicked last year, so the fact that we’re getting a reprise makes us that much happier! This time around, though, you can expect to hear Glinda singing rather than Elphie. We’re obsessulated!)
‘As Long As You’re Mine’
‘No Good Deed’
‘March of the Witch Hunters’
‘The Girl in the Bubble’ (Another new track for fans! As you might have guessed, this one is sung by Ariana Grande, and maybe we’ll get a glance at her younger self in this song, too, played by Scarlett Spears.)
‘For Good’ (From the small snippet of the song we heard in the trailer, we know that it’s the final song of the movie, and the movie’s title, ‘For Good,’ is going to have us in a pool of tears over our pink popcorn.)

There’s a lot to be said about the new Zac Efron romantic comedy on Netflix (and when it comes to Zac, I’ll always say it), A Family Affair.
First of all, the press tour has revealed a wealth of information about my dear Zac — and unlike with many movie stars, the more I know, the better. Just weeks ago, the internet was set ablaze when Zac revealed that his seminal, star-making performance of the hit “Bet On It” in High School Musical 2 was completely improvised. Beyond his critically acclaimed performance in The Iron Claw (famously snubbed by The Academy Awards), this info finally clued people into Efron’s true acting prowess.
He also revealed that “Get Your Head In The Game” from the original High School Musical was shot in one take. Is there anything this man can’t do? Mastering choreography while sinking baskets and giving us some of the most iconic Disney scenes of all time? Olivia Rodrigo, watch your back, Zac Efron is coming for the crown of Disney’s biggest musical success story. It’s also refreshing to hear a male movie star speak fondly of the projects he did in his youth for younger fans — Jacob Elordi, take note.
But beyond the revelations about the beloved HSM franchise — and the hints that Efron is itching to do another movie musical to recapture the magic of Hairspray and Greatest Showman — the most surprising thing about A Family Affair is that it’s kind of … good?
Let me be clear, I watched it purely because I’ll watch anything with Zac Efron. I watched the recent Amazon Studios film Ricky Stanicky starring Efron and John Cena, after all, and it certainly wasn’t for the plot. I can only watch The Paperboy so many times to get my fix of him and Nicole Kidman together (I’m an Evangelist for that movie — if you haven’t seen the underrated Lee Daniels masterpiece, run, don’t walk). But I didn’t have high hopes for A Family Affair. That was my mistake. Imagine my surprise when the film wasn’t merely tolerable but quite charming.
The reviews prove I’m not the only one who thought so.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a cinematic masterpiece. Yet, I have no doubt that I’ll be returning to it as a comfort movie many times in my future. It’s funny! It’s delightful! The acting is good enough to buoy the unfathomable plotlines. And it has enough heart to justify its more outrageous elements.
A Family Affair has officially joined the ranks of classic romantic comedies. But more notably, it’s joined the ranks of Hollywood’s latest obsession: hot young dudes paired with fabulous older women. It’s like The Graduate got a glow-up and decided to call itself feminism. And I’m all for feminism in mainstream movies — thank you, Barbie — I wonder about the limits of this genre and if it can deliver the promises it purports to make.
What is the A Family Affair movie about?
A Family Affair is not the 2009 Mary J. Blige song, much to my dismay. Rather, it’s Netflix’s latest rom-com effort starring Nicole Kidman and Disney Channel alum turned thirst-trap Zac Efron. At the center of their unconventional romance is Joey King, who you might know from The Kissing Booth or her awful accent in Bullet Train. Apparently, joey’s graduated from Netflix teen rom-coms to… Netflix mom-coms (you heard that term here first!)
The premise? Kidman finds herself in an entanglement with Efron — her daughter’s famous boss. Honestly, the most unbelievable thing about this is that King’s character goes from being a pretty terrible assistant to managing a company. Some ex-assistant definitely wrote this screenplay.
Semantics aside, A Family Affair is unexpectedly funny, engaging, and poignant in many ways. Just not the way it probably thinks. King goes from being wholly insufferable and selfish to learning that the world doesn’t revolve around her. Frankly, a lot more of these proto-girlboss characters need to experience the same harsh reality checks that King does in this film. Imagine if one of the characters in Lena Dunham’s Girls was told to their face that they were the worst. That’s what King goes through, and it shows a shift in the zeitgeist of narcissistic female characters paraded as simply chaotic yet relatable feminists. However, the film takes another would-be-feminist angle: the romance between Kidman, a 50-year old writer, and Efron, a 34-year-old movie star. It’s played as a feminist milestone. But is it?
Watch the A Family Affair trailer here:
A Family Affair is not the only film pushing this take. In the past year alone, multiple movies are tapping into this new fantasy. It’s like Eat, Pray, Love, but instead of finding yourself through travel, you find yourself through… Zac Efron’s abs. Hey, whatever works, right?
It’s not just Netflix. Welcome to the boy-toy boom
At the core of this sexy storyline, there’s a deeper message that’s been largely ignored by mainstream media: the idea that women can rediscover their sexuality and sense of self at any age.
Wasn’t that the same message of the early-summer smash, The Idea of You, featuring Anne Hathaway getting her groove back with a character based on Harry Styles? It seems the fantasy of dating a One Direction member isn’t just for teenagers anymore. Moms can have their fan fiction-esque y/n moment, too.
And lets not forget that Gabrielle Union, queen of 90s rom-coms, starred in her own version of this too in last year’s The Perfect Find. Alongside Keith Powers, she played an ambitious 40-year-old career woman making a comeback while falling in love with a younger man. Based on the book by Tia Williams, it was poorly received by critics but beloved as a comfort movie by its target audience.
And it’s easy to understand why. There’s something undeniably empowering when women — who society often tries to make invisible — take center stage in these romantic fantasies. It’s a celebration of female sexuality that has no expiration date. It’s saying that desire, passion, and yes, even silly, giddy infatuation aren’t just the domain of the young.
There’s been a market for this kind of story for decades. Hollywood just kind of … forgot? The essential Eat, Pray, Love is the epitome of the post-divorce drama. Under the Tuscan Sun is for all the women who dream of leaving it all behind and buying a house in Italy, then finding love, of course. But the real blueprint is How Stella Got Her Groove Back, in which Angela Bassett goes on a restorative vacation and falls for the younger Taye Diggs.
Real-life seems to provide a plethora of examples of older women in recent relationships with younger men. However, from Jada Pinkett Smith’s entanglement with August to Cher and Madonna’s 39 and 35-year age gaps respectively, these might not be the greatest examples.
Yet, we take what we can get. Let’s be real, in a world where women are constantly bombarded with messages about how to stay young, how to fight aging, how to basically apologize for daring to continue existing past the age of 40 (which is not that old?), these movies feel like a breath of fresh air. They’re saying: You’re not past your prime, honey. You can still snag one of the internet’s boyfriends.
Subverting the genre
In a way, these “reverse” age-gaps are refreshing. For decades, we’ve been force-fed the tired narrative of older men with younger women. From Bond Girls to Woody Allen’s entire filmography, Hollywood has been telling us that men age like fine wine while women don’t exist beyond 25 — just ask Leonardo DiCaprio.
Even now, looking at the age difference between many actors and their co-stars gives me the ick. Some of our favorite rom-coms are guilty of this too. Kiera Knightly was just 17 in Love, Actually. That says more than enough.
In that sense, these new films are giving a big middle finger to that tired old trope. They’re saying, “Hey, women over 40 are still sexual beings! They can be desirable! They can desire!” And honestly? It’s about damn time. They’re starting conversations. They’re challenging norms. And, as Hathaway asserted when taking the controversial role in The Idea of You, just because a woman isn’t in her twenties, doesn’t mean she can’t have interesting roles. And-so. This genre is giving actresses over 40 complex, sexy roles.
It’s also important to note that many of these films are written or produced by women. Gabrielle Union’s production company was behind both The Perfect Find and The Idea of You. And many of these storylines are sourced from books. So these are real women’s voices — and there’s clearly a market for it. But does that make it feminist?
To be or not to be a feminist narrative
While I champion the idea of women exploring their sexuality and finding themselves, why does a woman’s journey of self-discovery have to revolve around a man? Are we still saying that to be fulfilled, a woman needs to be desired? Does her journey of self-discovery need to involve a man — even if it’s a younger, hotter one?
The problem isn’t that these movies exist. Like any sweet treat, they’re easy and comforting and scratch a specific itch. There will always be a place in my heart for Zac Efron doing anything. The problem is that this genre is being touted as the apex of feminist cinema — which is taking up space that could be used for actual feminist art. Just like Barbie’s fickle feminism (which I loved, but barely said anything), we’ve seen how feminism-lite can get in the way of actual radical ideas.
Real feminism isn’t just about flipping the script — it’s about rewriting it entirely. It’s about telling stories about women who are fully realized human beings, with lives, interests, and passions that exist independently of their relationships with men (or anyone else, for that matter).
So where does that leave us? These age-gap movies can be celebrated for giving us fresh narratives, but they’re a starting point, not an end goal. We need stories that celebrate women’s sexuality and desirability at all ages, yes. But we also need stories that celebrate women’s intellect, ambition, friendships, and personal growth — stories that recognize that a woman’s worth isn’t tied to those who need or desire her but to who she is as a person.
So go ahead and enjoy A Family Affair and The Idea of You. Swoon over Zac Efron’s abs and Nicholas Galitzine’s accent. But remember, this is only the beginning.
There are few movies that are deemed instantaneous classics. Comfort films that sink into your soul from the moment you first watch them in the theater and resonate for decades in your memory bank. For many, that movie is the Y2k 2006 hit: The Devil Wears Prada.
It had all the makings of a classic: a gorgeous, star-studded cast some of whom had yet to reach the apex of their careers, quip-worthy lines that are still quoted to this day, and then there are all those delicious, catty jabs at Vogue.
The star-studded cast in question? Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, the semi-clueless journalism school grad who landed a job at Runway Magazine as an assistant to the widely feared and highly regarded Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep.)
If you somehow live under a rock and haven’t seen the film or read Lauren Weisberger’s wonderful novel, it’s a satire about work-life balance and the lengths we’ll go to for success. And, of course, Meryl Streep’s Priestly is based on Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour.
With an equally stacked supporting cast in Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, The Devil Wears Prada is often quoted and replayed. Sarcastic quips from Streep’s character like “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” or “What you don’t know is your sweater is not blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s cerulean.”
And while I could go on and on about how iconic specifically Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Wintour is, that’s not why I’ve gathered you here today. I actually have good news:
The Devil Wears Prada has been renewed for a sequel– and yes, Streep, Hathaway, Tucci, and Blunt are all in talks about returning.
While nothing’s confirmed just yet, Entertainment Weekly just got word that both Blunt and Streep are in talks to star in a film with a storyline concerned with the death of print media in more recent years.
Although Disney declined to comment, EW reports that most of the original cast, director, and producers are discussing a reunion. Which is quite possibly the best news, since no one else can play Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs but Streep and Hathaway.
In past years, multiple members of the cast have mulled over the idea of a sequel..but struggled to imagine a world where The Devil Wears Prada can exist side-by-side rapidly vanishing world of printed fashion magazines.
However, there’s a plethora of possibilities in the fashion journalism community– simply take a few notes from Vogue!
Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial — Documentary legend Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost) takes a six-episode stroll through the history of the Third Reich, with the Nuremberg Trials as a framing device. If you’re unfamiliar with that aspect of the story, the Nazis all had their convictions overturned on appeal because the judge hadn’t allowed them to tweet smack about the Allies. (Netflix)
How to Rob a Bank — Explore the methodology of the late Scott Scurlock, who got dubbed “The Hollywood Bandit” for wearing theatrical disguises while holding up 17 banks in the Seattle area. Fun fact: The Unknown Comic tried something similar after falling on hard times, but drawing a new face on the bag for each heist didn’t fool anybody. (Netflix)
Under Paris — Remember when Bérénice Bejo was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Artist? Now she’s starring in a Netflix movie as a scientist who discovers a giant, bloodthirsty shark lurking in the river Seine. And that’s all it is: just a shark. If the woman’s going to wave the white flag on her whole-ass career, the least they could do is make it half kraken or something. (Netflix)
Premieres Thursday:
Am I OK? — Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne direct Dakota Johnson as a woman who has to confront the real reason she can’t form successful relationships with men. Personally, I’m guessing it’s because they aren’t bears. (Max)
Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura — Characters from the two hit manga series meet in a contest of martial-arts prowess. It’s kind of like RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars, but with a slightly lesser possibility of violence. (Netflix)
Basma — Writer/director/star Fatima Al-Banawi drew on her degree in psychology to compile this dramatic portrait of a young woman who returns to her native Saudi Arabia after completing her academic studies in the U.S.A., just in time to discover that her father has become a delusional paranoiac. Gosh, a guy really has to be crazy if he still seems off to you after you’ve been living with Americans. (Netflix)
Counsel Culture — Get a better understanding of the mental-health issues facing today’s men in this series hosted by Nick Cannon and adapted from his podcast of the same name. Because “Nick Cannon” and “podcasting” are two things that always go together perfectly smoothly, as your rabbi well knows. (Prime Video Freevee)
Criminal Minds: Evolution — As Season 2 dawns, the members of the Behavioral Analysis Unit are shocked to learn that last season’s big bad — serial killer Elias Voit — has been transferred to their own neck of the woods by the feds. It seems like this shouldn’t be too much of a concern unless you don’t trust the feds. So count me in, because boy do I not trust the feds! (Paramount+)
Kübra — The Turkish thriller series has cooked up even more trouble for protagonist Gokhan Sahinoglu, whose acceptance of his role as a modern-day prophet threatens to put him at odds with just about everybody in Season 2. Yeah, people just naturally resent a prophet. Look at what Britney has to deal with every day. (Netflix)
Nelma Kodama: The Queen of Dirty Money — Fresh out of prison for her involvement in one of Brazil’s most infamous corruption cases, the black-market money trader sits down with interviewers to paint herself as a mere stooge to an all-powerful criminal network. Smart move, Nelma. Everybody hates Ticketmaster. (Netflix)
Queer Planet — The next time somebody insists to you that heteronormativity is the natural order of things, plunk them down in front of this documentary about the fluidity of sexuality that exists throughout the animal world. Just make sure they’re wearing pants, because you never know what’s going to turn those people’s crank. (Peacock)
Rafa Márquez: El Capitán — Go straight to the horse’s mouth to learn about the highs and lows in the life of the great Mexican defender. “Ooh, a defender! Like a crusading public defender?” No. “OK, maybe an Aztec soldier with a nifty golden sword?” Nope, defender as in soccer. “Goddammit, hasn’t the UN’s Human Rights Council outlawed that yet?” (Netflix)
Sweet Tooth — The third and final season takes the action to Alaska, where human/deer hybrid Gus is pursued by forces dedicated to the cause of human supremacy. On the plus side, I think Marisa Tomei has finally convinced Joe Pesci not to shoot him. (Netflix)
Daniel Brühl and Théodore Pellerin in ‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld’
Premieres Friday:
Becoming Karl Lagerfeld — Daniel Brühl plays the title role in a French-made period piece that shows the legendary designer battling rival Yves Saint-Laurent (Arnaud Valois) to define fashion in the ’70s. Interestingly, the series only came about because the French government announced it was willing to fund “somezing like ze Ryain Murph-AY.” (Hulu)
Hierarchy — Just when they’ve fully accustomed themselves to their school’s rigid social order, the students at a Korean private academy have to cope with a whole bunch of unfamiliar phenomena, like untimely death and the arrival of a new pupil who’s there on a scholarship. I mean, the occasional corpse is something every kid should learn to deal with, but a full-rider? Ewwwww! (Netflix)
Perfect Match — Season 2 brings together past contestants from shows like Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum and Too Hot to Handle to find a pairing that might actually stick this time — and to vote on one another’s prospects while they’re at it. Here’s hoping Season 3 adds the Baby Reindeer chick, to really spice things up. (Netflix)
Queenie — Author Candice Carty-Williams is executive producer and showrunner of this series adaptation of her 2019 novel, with Dionne Brown in the title role of a 20-something Jamaican British woman who reacts to being dumped by making some questionable choices. Hey, getting dumped is when you get to make all the questionable choices you want. Sleep around! Share needles! Become a showrunner! This is your mulligan! (Hulu)
Transformers: EarthSpark — The first nine episodes of Season 2 feature guest voice-over work from Richard Ayoade, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Flea. Not to be outdone, Luther Campbell is lobbying hard for a part in the next He-Man show. (Paramount+)
Premieres Tuesday:
How Music Got Free — Yes, that title is meant to be ironic. Because what we have here is an industry-sponsored excoriation of the file-sharing explosion of the early 21st century, with the tech innovators of the time denounced as “thieves” who ruined music for everybody. But seriously, if that were true, the recording artists of today wouldn’t be able to make a single penny for their … oh, shit. ShitshitSHIT. (Paramount+)
Keith Robinson: Different Strokes — Get a humorous lesson in perseverance from comic Robinson, who suffered life-threatening strokes in both 2016 and 2020. But that’s what’s gonna happen when a guy’s refreshing fivethirtyeight.com every 10 seconds. (Netflix)
Love Island — Ariana Madix of Vanderpump Rules replaces Sarah Hyland as host in Season 6, with the action now set in Fiji. Meanwhile, herpes replaces hepatitis C as the pathogen you’re most likely to contract from just watching. (Peacock)
Tour de France: Unchained — Season 2 invites us to relive the thrills of the 2023 race, through every one of its 21 nail-biting stages. (Is anybody else a little weirded out that that’s three times as many stages as grief gets?) (Netflix)
I’ll watch anything with Zendaya in it. Even without the genius-level marketing that was the Challengers press tour — complete with those tennis ball Loewe heels — I still would’ve rushed to the theater to watch Challengers. Due to last year’s strike, its delayed release made one thing obvious: anticipation really does make the reward that much sweeter. Challengers finally comes out on Friday, April 26th and after watching an early screening, I can confirm, it’s well worth the wait.
What is Challengers about?
Challengers is about tennis. Challengers is about a love triangle. Challengers is about Zendaya’s bob. Directed by Luca Guadagnino of Call Me By Your Name, it’s no surprise that this movie is also about sex. It follows three young tennis players — two lifelong friends who are rising stars and superstar prodigy Tashi Duncan with whom they are massively enamored — over their messy love lives and careers.
Zendaya leads as Tashi Duncan, the intense and intensely ambitious woman at the center of this story. After a devastating injury, Tashi goes from the top of the game to her husband’s coach, trying to recall what she felt at the height of her career.
Ambition battles desire as the love story between the three twists and turns over the course of time. Shifting between time periods and storylines, it feels like a Christopher Nolan film if it slayed. And with Luca’s expert directorial eye, styling from JW Anderson’s Loewe, and Zendaya as heroine, it’s a cinematic feat — tense, vivid, and utterly irresistible. Zendaya herself recommends watching the movie at least three times while “viewing” it from each character’s perspective each time. Well, what Z says, goes.
Clearly, Mike Faist (Dear Evan Hansen, West Side Story) as Art and Josh O’Connor (The Crown, God’s Own Country) as Patrick have been inducted into the exclusive club of Luca’s muses. If you weren’t in love with them before, you will be by the movie’s end. The film has confirmed them as the white boys of the month. But they’re more than just pretty faces. They are Actors — with a capital A.
And Challengers is their launch pad for Hollywood’s latest leading men. Their performances are masterful, their characters are tight and consistent, and their chemistry is unmatched.
While their chemistry with Zendaya is electric, it’s their chemistry together that keeps the film pulsing with anticipatory tension. Whether they love each other or hate each other, the best scenes are those when Faist and O’Connor can play off each other — whether it’s literally tennis or a battle of wits and the battle for Zendaya’s heart.
Of course: we have to talk about that scene. Teased in the trailer and the promo images alike, everyone is all aflutter over the film’s alleged menage a trois. Appearing early on, it’s a taste of what the film does well: emphasizes sex appeal without denigrating any of its characters — especially Zendaya — as mere sexual objects.
Sex in this film is often implied. Yet, sensuality and the power exchange of desire are foregrounded. It’s about power. But it’s also a game. And, like tennis, Zendaya is a master. “You don’t know what tennis is,” she tells Art and Patrick. “It’s a relationship.” For the three of them, this certainly proves true. The central question here is: who will win?
This is a movie about tennis, actually.
The internet has noticed a strange trend: the women who’ve played Spiderman’s love interest in the major Spiderman franchises have all gone on to do movies about tennis. Kirsten Dunst did the underrated rom-com Wimbledon. Emma Stone portrayed Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes just three years after her term as Gwen Stacey. And now, Zendaya is playing her own version of a tennis star.
But this isn’t just a film about tennis players. It’s a movie deeply in love with the game of tennis itself. It plays with the form of the game by mirroring a tennis match — each act of the film feels like a set of a match. It moves through scenes and time periods like perfect volleys. The key scene that ties it all together is a tennis match. We watch the ball go back and forth as we are transported to and from the past, wondering which player will get the upper hand.
“What do you want?” The boys ask Tashi early in the film. “To watch some good fucking tennis,” she says.
In the end, the sentiment is repeated. In tennis, love means zero. And that’s the Challengers’ conceit. Sitting across from the umpire (who is — fun fact — played by her real-life assistant Darnell Appling) in the central tennis scene, her judgment is all. It’s like the final scene of Love and Basketball — they’re playing for her heart. And her heart is always with the game.
Challengers will make a tennis fan of you. While you don’t need to know the game in order to follow the plot, its artistic representation of the game — from the writing to the directorial shot list — will satisfy the superfans and intrigue the newbies.
Let’s get to the point (pun intended): Is Zendaya’s Tashi a triumph?
Earlier this year, Timothee Chalamet achieved the impressive feat of starring in two of the year’s highest-grossing films — Dune: Part Two and Wonka. I predict that by the time they stop this weekend’s Box Office count, Zendaya will achieve the same feat with Dune: Part Two and Challengers.
While she’s the heart of Dune: Part Two, she’s finally taking her rightful place as a leading lady with her turn as Tashi Duncan. After playing high schoolers for decades from Spider-Man to Euphoria, the role of Tashi is the perfect transition. We meet Tashi the summer after high school, before she heads to Stanford, and watch her grow into an adult in real-time. Zendaya and her character get similar arcs.
Zendaya deftly handles Tashi’s youthful confidence with her jaded older self while rocking that damn bob. It’s up to you to decide whether you love this character or despise her. There’s a viral interview in which an interviewer remarks that as much as he loves Zendaya, this character kind of made him hate her. Meanwhile, I — lover of maneaters and female manipulators — am pinning photos of Tashi to my vision board as we speak.
Audiences are split on their takes on Tashi but everyone agrees: Zendaya played her with the chill-inducing complexity she deserves. EGOT soon! This is Zendaya’s magnum opus — so far. She’s proven she’s a movie star, a leading lady, and an adult woman ready to play older roles. I can’t wait for what she does next.
Challengers will hit theaters on Friday, April 26th. Watch the full trailer here:
We have seen action-packed movies, thrillers and we have loved it all. Be it Pathaan, Jawan or Gadar 2. The films had a patriotic connection as well. After Shershaah, Sidharth Malhotra will be seen in a uniform yet again and this time for a movie called Yodha. The Yodha assets that have so far been released, be it poster, songs, teaser or trailer, have received an amazing response from the audience. Karan Johar and Hiroo Yash Johar have backed this movie alongside Apoorva Mehta, Shashank Khaitaan and Anil Thadani. Read our BollywoodLife’s Yodha Movie Review below:

About Yodha
Yodha stars Sidharth Malhotra as an army officer Arun Katyal. He follows his father’s footsteps and becomes a military man who leads a group of army officers that carry out important missions for the country called Yodha, started by none other than Arun’s father. However, one failed hijack mission puts Arun and Yodha’s existence in jeopardy. Arun is suspended along with other Yodhas. He is deemed unfit to carry duty and is almost called an enemy of the country. It severely impacts Arun who loses everything, life, career and his personal life. When another hijack situation is presented to Arun, how this Yodha heroically saves the day, while also fighting his own demons and absolves all the doubtful fingers pointed at him forms the rest of the story.
What’s Hot?
Of course, Sidharth Malhotra in action. He just keeps getting better and better. Raashii Khanna plays his wife. She does a great job as secretary to the Head of State. Disha Patani as the flight attendant is one out of syllabus. There are twists upon twists that will keep you guessing and engaged through and through. Not just the action but also some of the dialogues are quite whistle-worthy. Within five minutes you are introduced to the love story between Arun and Priyamvada. Vishal Mishra’s Zindagi Tere Naam Ki will make you fall in love. The chemistry is affable. The twists and turns affect their personal and professional relationship as they are interlinked. You will get to see Disha Patani perform action sequences in saree. She looks quite hot. Sunny Hinduja plays the head of Lashkar, Jalal. He brings his best menacing game to the big screens and delivers it with great conviction. Several incidents are inspired by real incidents and turned into fictionalised story telling..
What’s Not?
A few twists are predictable. At some points you’d feel that the movie is all over the place because of the number of twists. One or two songs could have been trimmed. Yodha in the movie is about a military unit which eventually is turned into a one man show. The blatant disregard for rules and line of command will make you doubt heroism.
