  • Penn State, Matt Campbell given update on Rocco Becht transfer

    [ad_1]

Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Matt Campbell is still building out his roster for the upcoming season, and some of his former Iowa State players could be joining him soon.

Campbell’s former quarterback, Rocco Becht, has decided to enter the transfer portal, a move that came as a bit of a surprise given that he spent his entire college career with the Cyclones.

More news: Urban Meyer Sends Clear Message on Kalen DeBoer to Michigan Rumors

Becht was a redshirt during his freshman year, though he has been the starter over the past three years, during which he has won 26 games as the lead signal caller.

He will be entering his redshirt senior campaign, and given his experience in the Big 12, the quarterback projects to have a robust market, with teams that would kill for a proven commodity amid the uncertainty that this the position play can bring.

Penn State, meanwhile, is losing quarterback Drew Allar after his final year of eligibility, and he is expected to enter the NFL Draft.

The Nitanny Lions will be left with Ethan Grunkemeyer as the leading man on the roster, a promising freshman who settled into his own once Allar went down with an injury.

More news: Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss Awaits Eligibility Ruling With LSU in Play

However, Campbell reportedly has his eyes on Becht, who would lock up the starting spot for next season, giving Grunkemeyer another year to learn about what it takes. According to Pete Nakos of On3, Penn State is one of the teams to watch for Becht.

“Sources have told On3 that Penn State is the clear school to watch in this recruitment, despite Becht planning to evaluate other options,” Nakos reports.

Among the other teams that need a quarterback are also LSU, Florida, Texas Tech, Florida State, Miami, and potentially Oregon.

Still, Becht and Penn State seem like a match made in heaven — the player will get a notable payday to play under his longtime coach and a massive college program.

At the same time, the school receives a quality starting option that will get things going in year one of the Matt Campbell era.

  • Keeler: Deion Sanders isn’t enough. CU Buffs football needs a sugar daddy for Christmas.

    [ad_1]

Omarion Miller finished Julian Lewis’ passes the way Meg Ryan finished Billy Crystal’s sentences in “When Harry Met Sally.”

Alas, there won’t be a happy ending. Or a sequel.

Miller — the CU Buffs’ leading receiver in 2025 — announced Wednesday that he was entering the transfer portal. And apparently Tawfiq Byard will have whatever Miller’s having. The Buffs safety, CU’s best defensive player this past fall despite playing much of it with just one working hand, also plans to transfer out of BoCo next month.

Pain is a process. The gut says, “If we can go 3-9 with you, we can go 3-9 without you, dude.”

The head says something else. Something along the lines of, “Man, Deion Sanders could really, really use a sugar daddy this Christmas.”

Remember when the Buffs hired Coach Prime and finally got out ahead of the college football curve?

That lasted about 16 to 18 months.

    Celebrity coaches are out.

    Celebrity investors are in.

Texas Tech, per YahooSports.com, raised about $49 million for student-athletes from July 2024 to July 2025. A new Red Raiders donor group, called the Athletic Donor Circle, had already pledged roughly $35 million as of early November.

Last week, Utah became the first Power 4 athletic department to formally partner with a private equity firm. ESPN.com reports that Otro Capital out of New York is ready to pump $400 million into the Utes.

Texas Tech bought the best team on the planet, went 12-1, won the Big 12 title and earned a bye in the College Football Playoff. Utah posted a 10-2 record and beat the Buffs 53-7 in late October.

CU athletics, meanwhile, is reportedly staring at a potential $27 million deficit for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, according to multiple outlets. Thank players and Prime, primarily.

Sanders’ salary went up by nearly $5 million for 2025 after his new extension kicked in. The House vs. NCAA settlement required CU to share revenues with student-athletes starting this past July 1, with a cap of $20.5 million for this fiscal cycle. Yet it’s hard to imagine good players such as Miller and Byard taking pay cuts at their next ports of call, isn’t it?

Buffs officials saw the train coming years ago, even as the bills keep piling up. Which is why the indoor practice facility is now sponsored by Mountain States Ford Stores. And why artificial turf was installed at Folsom Field — so the stadium could be utilized more often as a host to revenue-driving events outside the athletic calendar.

Concerts and uniform sponsorships — UNLV will reportedly collect about $2.2 million annually over the next five years from Acesso Biologics, its new “Official Jersey Patch Partner” — will only cover so much. The student-athlete revenue sharing pool is expected to increase by 4% next year. Sanders is slated to make $11 million in 2027, $11 million in 2028 and $12 million in 2029.

The Buffs can’t play at the same poker tables as the Red Raiders and Utes — or retain star players — without a serious influx of cash. Utah is pointing the way now. Not CU.

College football is so broken. The system? The system — and by that, we mean greedy college presidents and the corporate suits they propped up as conference commissioners — for too long took advantage of student-athletes as a pool of indentured labor, as entertainment contractors on the cheap. A free market for talent was overdue. But the pendulum has swung so hard the other way that roster retention is the stuff of satire now.

Bowls? Bowls are nothing more than three-hour infomercials for some random chamber of commerce or provincial company you’ve never heard of; exhibitions propped up by Disney stiffs to eat up programming blocks over the holidays. When Iowa State and Kansas State would sooner eat a million bucks in league fines than join in, that ship’s sailed. (Not you, Pop-Tarts Bowl. You’re weirdly perfect. And perfectly weird.)

Fans? Fans are caught in the crossfire, casualties in the battle of dollars over sense. Ticket prices and point-of-entry fees will skyrocket. Pay-per-view will become more the norm than the exception. Universities will pass the cost to the consumer.

The Buffs vow that they won’t cut sports — and with only 13 non-football options offered, they don’t have much room on that front to cut, anyway. They’ve vowed that they won’t lop student-athlete services, although outgoing athletic director Rick George laid off two track coaches last spring.

Something’s gotta give. Of course, if Coach Prime wanted to help retain student-athletes, he could donate half of his $10 million salary to the revenue-sharing pool. That’s not happening.

In an effort to slow the chaos, FBS scholarships could require a minimum of two years of service at your initial college of choice coming out of high school. But that’s not happening, either.

As of early Friday morning, at least 11 CU players had expressed interest in transferring out. Among the Big 12 programs that didn’t change coaches (Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State), only West Virginia had seen more defections (19) as of mid-December than the Buffs.

The Sherrone Moore saga continues, and an OnlyFans model claimed the fired Michigan head football coach “slid into” her direct messages after it was revealed Thursday he followed many other OnlyFans and Instagram models.

Moore even once attended a party thrown by convicted music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to a post of Moore’s on X.

Moore was booked into jail Wednesday night after he was dismissed for allegedly having an “inappropriate relationship” with a staffer.

“I wasn’t surprised he was all in my DMs trying to risk it all with an OF model,” “fitness influencer” and OnlyFans model Mia Sorety said X.

After the bombshell news Wednesday night, many went digging into Moore’s social media presence, and users on X started to find he was following many OnlyFans, Instagram models and college women.

“Look at Cherrone [sic] Moore’s following list on Instagram,” one X user tweeted. “The dude follows hundreds of college girls, only fans models, & female reporters/anchors. It’s crazy & obvious the dude is a cheater.”

MICHIGAN PRESIDENT CALLS SHERRONE MOORE’S CONDUCT A ‘BREACH OF TRUST’ AFTER SHOCKING DISMISSAL AND ARREST

    Sorety replied, “He absolutely was.”

Sports podcast host Justin Spiro also found a photo of Sorety at Michigan Stadium for a football game “a couple years ago” supporting the Wolverines.

As Moore’s social media history was dissected, it was found he attended a Kentucky Derby party thrown by Combs at the Louisville Palace hotel.

“What a great week in Paris! Such a blessing to be apart of the Michigan family! Off to the Ville for the weekend to enjoy the #KentuckyDerby Festivities! @trifectagala hosted by @Diddy tonight to start it off! #BonjourBlue #CantStopWontStop

This 2018 party came before Diddy’s infamous “white parties,” which involved alleged sex abuse.

Moore has been married since 2015 and has three daughters with his wife.

Moore was locked up in the Washtenaw County Jail in Michigan Wednesday, Fox News Digital confirmed. No charges have been listed yet for the coach.

Pittsfield police said they responded to a home as part of an assault investigation. Police said a suspect was taken into custody and that the incident does not appear to be random. Police said the suspect was being held in the Washtenaw County Jail pending review of charges by the Washtenaw County prosecutor.

Moore was dismissed by athletic director Warde Manuel Wednesday.

Michigan President Domenico Grasso sent a mass email message to students Thursday addressing the Moore controversy.

“Students, Earlier this week, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics dismissed head football coach Sherrone Moore with cause for violating University policy by engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. When the findings of a University investigation into Coach Moore’s behavior were presented on Wednesday, we immediately terminated his employment,” a copy of the message obtained by Fox News Digital said.

“There is absolutely no tolerance for this conduct at the University of Michigan. None. I have been in close communication with the Board of Regents and we are united in committing to doing what is right. This breach of trust by Coach Moore is painful for many in our community, first and foremost, the individuals directly involved in this situation.

We must remain steadfast with those efforts.”

Potential charges for Moore are not expected to be announced until at least Friday.

“As this remains an active investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time, but our office will provide an update once a decision on charges is made,” the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office said.

  • Robert Griffin III accuses CFP committee of ‘SEC bias’ after Alabama choice over Notre Dame, BYU

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The fallout of this year’s College Football Playoff bracket continues days after the selection committee ignited controversy with its at-large-bid teams.

The main culprit? Alabama was given the No. 9 seed despite being blown out by the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game to fall to 10-3 on the season.

Many believed the Crimson Tide’s loss meant both Miami and Notre Dame were going to get in. Instead, the selection committee chose to leave out the Fighting Irish, awarding the Hurricanes the No. 10 seed followed by conference winners Tulane (No. 11) and James Madison University (No. 12).

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

For FOX Sports analyst and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, the selection committee simply “got it wrong this year,” and his thoughts revolve around some bias.

“The SEC bias is clear. You got five SEC teams in it, and I think most people would agree, having looked at this and looked at the numbers and seen the recent trends over the last three years, the SEC simply isn’t as dominant as what it used to be,” he told Fox News Digital after helping USAA gift two military veterans with new vehicles before the 126th Army-Navy game this weekend. “The Big Ten has caught up, the Big 12 is a more competitive league top to bottom than they’re given credit for. I thought the committee could’ve done the easiest thing possible to make the most people happy because it was inside their parameters.”

What exactly was the “easiest thing possible” in the eyes of Griffin? It was to have both Miami and Notre Dame in, because now he feels BYU, who went 11-2 this season after getting blown out in the Big 12 Championship Game by No. 4 Texas Tech, was punished.

EX-NBC HOST CHUCK TODD RIPS COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF OFFICIALS OVER ALABAMA GETTING INTO FIELD

Meanwhile, Alabama was given a chance at a national title despite a similar result and one more loss than the Cougars.

“If you’re going to punish BYU, punish Alabama,” Griffin explained. “Alabama’s got one extra loss, they both got blown out in their conference championship games. Move them both out. Now, that way you put both Miami and Notre Dame in, and you avoid that whole conversation of head-to-head and all that. They did the worst thing you could do: they punished BYU and then put Miami in over Notre Dame, even though neither team played [in a conference championship] and made them jump each other. It made zero sense.”

Griffin added that a problem for BYU was that they were never within the top 10 in prior rankings leading up to the selection.

    Marcus Freeman calls a play

But one of the national conversations is whether the selection committee can be trusted moving forward. Of course, an expanded playoff format means some teams are just going to have to fall out in the end, but Griffin sees bias in the process like many others do.

“When you talk about trusting the committee, the committee, in my opinion, have too many good men on it that they would make this colossal mistake,” he said. “It’s not just, ‘Oh, there might be some SEC bias.’ There’s clearly SEC bias. I’m not mad at JMU, I’m not mad at Tulane. They did what they were supposed to do based off the rules. They won their games, they deserve to be in.

“This illusion that we’re trying to put the 12 best teams in the country — it’s not true, man. It’s never been about the 12 best teams. It’s about the 12 teams they can justify putting in, and I think they got it wrong this year.”

Notre Dame has since declined any bowl game invitation, while BYU is set to play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl against Georgia Tech.

Griffin was back in Baltimore, where he spent the remaining years of his NFL playing career, to show honor through action in the tradition of the annual Army-Navy Game by gifting two recycled rides with USAA, the official Salute to Service partner of the NFL.

Petty Officer 1st Class Jamil Lewis, who is currently serving in the Navy as a cryptologic technican, and Army National Guard veteran Patrick Huber, were both surprised by Griffin with the brand-new vehicle at Inner Harbor in front of the USS Constellation.

Griffin, who comes from a military family, has long enjoyed his partnership with USAA and couldn’t have been happier to help out with this.

“I’ve been so honored to partner with USAA. We’ve been partnered together for the last 13 years, and I’m a guy who likes to do genuine, authentic partnerships. Military brat, mom and dad both served in the Army. So, I’m a ‘Go Army, beat Navy’ guy — 31 years combined between them. To see the impact we’ve been able to make over the last 13 years, doing things to make our military members know they’re not forgotten, it does something for me,” he explained. “If it’s doing something for me, it’s doing something for these families we get to impact, to make their lives a little bit easier. It’s not a free car. I say that because, yeah, they didn’t have to pay money for it, but there was sacrifice for us and our freedoms to be able to get this type of treatment. We want them to know that, ‘Hey, man, we appreciate you.’”

Griffin said Huber, a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, made sure to take a crack at him during their time together about the Washington Commanders, who the Baylor product was drafted by.

And Griffin also loved seeing Lewis’ 9-year-old son, one of his five children, “going ballistic” when he realized what was happening.

“They got a free car to the point where, 30 minutes after the event, he’s still sitting in the passenger’s side seat,” Griffin said about Lewis’ son.

  • Notre Dame lands 4-star prospect in viral recruiting announcement

    [ad_1]

While Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame aren’t celebrating in 2025 after being snubbed from the College Football Playoff, there is excitement to be had looking into the Fight Irish’s future.

After a lengthy recruitment process that saw schools like Auburn and Arkansas court him, the top defensive back in Ohio, Ace Alston, chose Notre Dame for where he will play college football come the new year.

During his announcement, Alston went viral on social media when he snubbed hats from Lane Kiffin’s LSU, Ryan Day’s Ohio State, and Lincoln Riley’s USC to pour himself a bowl of Lucky Charms before putting on the Fighting Irish hat to a chorus of cheers from the crowd.

Alston, a 5-foot-11 cornerback out of Cincinnati, Ohio, decided not stay home and play for one of the colleges in the state where he has become a blue-chip prospect.

  • RECAP – Playoffs: A Philly Football Upset; Villanova Beats Lehigh in a Defensive Battle, 14-7 – Philadelphia Sports Nation

When it came to Lehigh vs. Villanova on Saturday at Goodman Stadium in the second round of the NCAA FCS Championship ,  one team with a Philly connection had to lose.

Lehigh had opened the scoring early in the third quarter. Villanova then tied the game with a one-yard plunge by Ja’briel Mace.

After a scoreless first half and a 7–7 deadlock through the 3rd quarter , Villanova would take the lead with a 28-yard connection between Pat McQuaide and Braden Reed with just over three minutes left in the contest. On the very next possession, Villanova’s defense came up big again, stopping a Lehigh drive when Obinna Nwobodo stripped Mountain Hawks Quarterback Hayden Johnson to preserve the upset of #5 Lehigh.

Last weekend — Villanova (10–2), hosting historic Harvard (9–2) at home, completely dominated the first round of the FCS Championship Playoffs — with the Wildcats going up 31–0 before Harvard got onto the board.

In the season finale against Scared Heart on Saturday, that included a mesmerizing performance on the ground from Ja’briel Mace, including 165 yards and two scores on nine carries, including an 80-yard scamper and a receiving touchdown in the 34–10 win. A week before, in an overtime win against Stony Brook with David Avit out due to a knee injury , Isaiah Ragland ran the ball for nearly 100 yards.

Next up for the Wildcats — a trip to Tarleton State for the next round of the NCAA FCS Championship.

  • Unexpected coach surging for Penn State job amid Kalen DeBoer rumor

    [ad_1]

The Penn State Nittany Lions are in need of a new coach after firing James Franklin in the middle of the season.

As the search for Franklin’s replacement began to heat up just a few weeks ago a surprise candidate started to emerge: Alabama‘s Kalen DeBoer. Jon Sauber of The Centre Daily Times, reported DeBoer is a leading candidate for the Nittany Lions

“He’s been one of Penn State’s top targets from the beginning,” Sauber said via Tide 100.9. “I think it was, early on, a little bit pie in the sky, of course, Alabama’s close game with South Carolina, there was a chance it could have picked up there. It didn’t, and then the loss to Oklahoma nudged the door open a little bit.”

More College Football: Alabama Could Suffer Double Loss Amid Kalen DeBoer, Penn State Rumor

More Football: National Champion Coach Could Join Lane Kiffin at LSU

“I still think Alabama would have to miss the Playoffs to make this a real possibility, which, obviously, would include a loss to Auburn to end the year,” he added. “And I’m sure the reaction down there wouldn’t be great. He’s been the top target since early on; I know they have a lot of respect for him and what he’s done in his career, and he’s someone that they think would be an excellent coach here at Penn State.”

Former NFL player Breiden Fehoko added to the DeBoer smoke this week.

But DeBoer isn’t the only one in the mix. An unexpected candidate is starting to surge in Kalshi’s odds for the next Penn State head coach: BYU’s Kalani Sitake. According to the latest data, Sitake has a 23% chance to land the job – up from just 3% earlier this week.

The head coach has the Cougars in the thick of the College Football Playoff race.

  • Texas’ Arch Manning, coach make case for Longhorns to get into College Football Playoff after upset victory

Texas Longhorns football coach Steve Sarkisian made the case for his team to get into the College Football Playoff after Arch Manning led an upset victory over Texas A&M.

Manning was 14-of-29 with 179 passing yards and a touchdown pass. He found Ryan Wingo for a 29-yard score to put the Longhorns up three points in the third quarter. Then, up three points in the fourth quarter, Manning scampered for a 35-yard touchdown run to give Texas a 10-point lead.

No. 16 Texas won the game, 27-17, and ruined No. 3 Texas A&M’s hopes of making the SEC Championship.

“We’re absolutely a playoff team, and worthy of an opportunity to play for a national championship.”

If the Longhorns made the Playoff, they would be the first three-loss team to do so. They have a bad loss to Florida on their resume, which would likely hold them back from getting into the final 12. Their other losses were against No. 1 Ohio State and No. 4 Georgia.

Sarkisian said the Longhorns should be rewarded, not punished, for scheduling an out-of-conference matchup with the defending national champions to start the season.

“If we’re a 10-2 team right now, this isn’t a discussion,” Sarkisian said.

    Manning echoed Sarkisian’s sentiments.

“If you let us in, we can beat anyone,” Manning said. “If you don’t think we’re one of the best 12 teams in the country, I don’t know what to tell you.”

  • Lane Kiffin says he has ‘a lot of praying to do’ before deciding on Ole Miss future

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Will Lane Kiffin stay at Ole Miss or take his talents elsewhere?

It was the question that was on the mind of Rebels fans and the rest of college football entering the team’s final game of the regular season against Mississippi State.

After the game, he didn’t exactly tip his hand as he went to celebrate the 38-19 victory.

“No, I haven’t,” he said when asked if he had made up his mind. “I’ve got a lot of praying to do to figure that out tomorrow. But right now I’m just going to go enjoy these players. I told them last night you’re gonna win your 11th game. All I want to do is enjoy watching you, and that’s what I’m about to do.”

He said, with a smile, he was experiencing joy at that moment.

Kiffin has been the hottest coaching target in college football with multiple jobs open. He’s been linked to the LSU and Florida jobs. The Tigers parted ways with Brian Kelly, and the Gators split from Billy Napier in the middle of the year. Both openings are at schools considered to be the gold standard when it comes to the sport.

However, Kiffin has turned the Rebels into a college football national championship contender this year. Ole Miss’ 11 wins this season are the most in school history, and the Rebels have done it twice under Kiffin.

Kiffin took over an Ole Miss program that was 4-8 in Matt Luke’s final season. He’s notched at least 10 wins at Ole Miss in four of the six years he’s been at the helm.

Kiffin has already come under fire in the past for leaving places on a whim, specifically taking the USC job in 2010 after only one season with Tennessee.

He faces the potential for more scrutiny should he depart Ole Miss for another job.

The coach is well-travelled, having taken the job at Washington back in 2023, and previously spent 12 years on the Cardinals’ coaching staff in various roles.

He was a former assistant coach and coordinator, and an alumnus who played quarterback for the former PAC-12 school.

Stanford hopes Pritchard can bring stability to the school after its previous coach, Troy Taylor, was involved in multiple controversies.

More news: Auburn Set to Take Major Step in Head Coach Search

General manager Andrew Luck, the former All-Pro quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, brought in his former coach, Frank Reich, to stabilize the team while they looked for a new head coach, and he has now made his first big hire.

“Tavita Pritchard is exactly the right head coach at the right time to help us build on the foundation of this season and lead Stanford football to its next great era,” Luck said in a statement.

“Coach Pritchard is a culture builder, a teacher of football of the highest caliber, and a humble yet determined servant leader who is committed to the success of Stanford’s student-athletes. I could not be more excited to welcome Tavita, Caroline and their family back to campus.”

More news: Lane Kiffin’s Handling of Coaching Rumors Is Upsetting SEC Programs

Pritchard was Stanford’s quarterback in 2018, and the following year, he was beaten out by Luck, who is, ironically, returning the favor and giving him a job this time.

Stanford went through more than 30 candidates for the head coaching gig. The search included assistance from new athletic director John Donahoe, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Stanford president Jonathan Levin, and Luck.

The program needs to ensure Pritchard is a success after going 3-9 last season and entering their season finale on Saturday against Notre Dame at 4-7.

They still hold a good deal of prestige, but they are a shell of their former selves.

  • ‘College GameDay’ makes big announcement before Ohio State-Michigan game

    [ad_1]

As expected, ESPN’s “College GameDay “is heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for its final regular-season show on Saturday morning ahead of the massive rivalry showdown between the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines.

While the Buckeyes enter the game as favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook, Michigan has won the last four meetings, including last year’s upset in Columbus as a massive underdog. In this rivalry, nothing can be taken for granted.

On Friday, less than 24 hours before the show, “College GameDay” announced its celebrity guest picker for the game: Detroit Lions star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson. He will join Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, and Kirk Herbstreit on the set.

“A Michigan icon,” ‘College GameDay’ posted. “Aidan Hutchinson will be joining us in Ann Arbor as tomorrow’s guest picker ahead of The Game.”

    Fans reacted to the announcement:

“If I were UM I’d want nothing to do with him after watching his pro performance this year but whatevs lol,” a fan said.

Someone else added, “The guest picker got a losing record in THE GAME? That’s funny.”

Another person wrote, “Sure you want a Lions player bringing the vibes? They know how to lay an egg.”

“Isn’t Tom Brady in town? Get him on set too!” One more fan suggested.

Hutchinson just finished playing on Thanksgiving for the Lions, who fell 31-24 to the Green Bay Packers, but he doesn’t take the field again until next Thursday when Detroit hosts the Dallas Cowboys. That makes it the perfect time for him to step away and join arguably the greatest rivalry in all of sports that he was apart of for several seasons.

While Ohio State has largely dominated since the early 2000s, the Wolverines have found success under Ryan Day’s tenure as Buckeyes head coach, setting the stage for another thrilling matchup on Saturday at noon.

The No. 4 Duke Blue Devils (7-0) travel to the United Center to face the No. 22 Arkansas Razorbacks (5-1) in a CBS Sports Thanksgiving Classic college basketball matchup.

    • When: Thursday, November 27, 2025
    • Time: 8:00 PM ET
    • TV Channel: CBS
    • Live Stream: Fubo (try for free)

Duke has been dominant thus far, racing out to an undefeated record. Only a 12-point win over No. 24 Kansas at a neutral site appeared to test the Blue Devils. Most recently, Duke has demolished Niagara (100-42) and Howard (93-56). In the win over Howard, Duke held a 52-18 halftime lead, ultimately coasting to the final score. Cameron Boozer played a nearly perfect game, shooting 10-for-12 from the field to score 26 points with 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 26 minutes of action.

While Arkansas can still boast a phenomenal overall record, the way they’ve gotten there hasn’t been without concern. A four-point win over Samford, followed by a one-point win over Winthrop (both at Bud Walton Arena), gave reason for pause, but the Razorbacks’ most recent win (115-61 over Jackson State) renewed some enthusiasm. Arkansas shot a remarkable 69.8% from inside the arc against Jackson State, led by Malique Ewin, who scored 21 points in just 14 minutes off the bench, making 8-of-9 from the field.

  • PREVIEW – Playoffs: A Wealth of Riches in the Backfield — And Headed to the Playoffs as Villanova Takes on Harvard – Philadelphia Sports Nation

    [ad_1]

    Credit: Villanova Football-Twitter/X

Generally speaking, it’s been a great year for collegiate football in the Philly area. Not only have Penn and Villanova had winning seasons , but Temple has a chance to become bowl-eligible with its next game against North Texas.

And once again — across America’s nearly 136 collegiate programs — talent from the Philly region can be felt from coast to coast.

At the head of that list are the Villanova Wildcats (9–2), who learned on Sunday afternoon that they would be the #12 seed in the Football Championship Subdivision and would face Harvard in the first round.

For Villanova ,  it’s another chance to highlight a great rushing attack.

    Credit: Villanova Football-Twitter/X

Villanova’s football program has had plenty of great talent over the years. Perhaps it’s finest — running back Brian Westbrook — whose career as an all-purpose player led him to a 1,000-yard rushing and receiving year in the same season (the first player in college to do so), the Walter Payton Award, and FCS Player of the Year. His contributions would land him in the Villanova Hall of Fame before playing six seasons with the Eagles.

Former Villanova running back Kevin Monangai earned All-CAA Honors while a Wildcat and went on to play in the NFL for the Eagles and the Vikings. In the 1960s — running back Billy Joe was the only Villanova athlete ever inducted into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame for two sports — and would go on to play professionally for the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and was a World Champion with the New York Jets.

Now the Villanova Wildcats have a sophomore running back named David Avit. And they almost lost him.

After a freshman season with 923 yards rushing and nine touchdowns,  Avit has followed up so far this year by breaking out against Monmouth with 135 yards. He followed up that performance with 102 yards against the University of New Hampshire and 63 yards against Elon.

But that isn’t all of the talent.

For Villanova , late-season playoff football is bolstered by an elite running game.

It gives potential for a deep run as well.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Nyier Daniels was kicked off the team on Monday following his arrest on multiple charges resulting from a high-speed police chase, coach Kirby Smart said.

Daniels was arrested Sunday and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Georgia. He was charged with three felonies, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and 10 misdemeanor charges.

The other felonies against Daniels were two counts of cruelty to children because his two younger siblings were in his vehicle at the time, officials said. The misdemeanor charges included reckless driving and speeding.

He reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph in a 25-mph zone in Commerce and 150 mph when the chase continued on Interstate 85.

“I have not had a chance to talk to him or his family, but obviously he’ll no longer be with us,” Smart said.

Brandi Canada Green, Daniels’ mother, was also arrested after she allegedly drove another vehicle that became involved in the chase. She faces a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, as well as a misdemeanor charge of willful obstruction of law enforcement.

Capt. Cole Edwards said in the police report that he asked Daniels why he fled and Daniels responded “he did not want his mother to get a ticket.”

Daniels was able to get away from the police, but was arrested after officers learned he was a Georgia player and contacted team coaches, who provided assistance, according to an incident report.

  • Oregon’s Dan Lanning makes Ducks’ case for College Football Playoff after big win over USC

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Oregon Ducks improved to 10-1 overall and 7-1 against Big Ten Conference opponents on Saturday night as they handed the USC Trojans a 42-27 defeat.

With the win, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning endorsed his team for the College Football Playoff. The Ducks were ranked No. 7 in the latest reveal, moving one spot up from the previous week. Oregon would have been pitted against No. 10 Alabama, according to the latest release.

It would mean that the Big Ten gets three teams in the College Football Playoff.

“I think proof’s in the pudding,” Lanning told reporters, via ESPN. “We can beat you in multiple ways, right? We can outscore you at times, right? We can hold you to the 18-, 16-(point) type of game, win in tough environments, any weather, put the ball down, let’s go play football. That’s the kind of team that we have.”

Lanning also pointed to the difficulty of the team’s schedule, contrasting it with some of the SEC schools. Oregon will take on the Washington Huskies to finish the year.

ARCH MANNING MAKES TEXAS FOOTBALL HISTORY IN LONGHORNS’ WIN OVER ARKANSAS

Ducks quarterback Dante Moore was 22-of-30 with 257 passing yards, two touchdown passes and an interception in the win. Oregon had a 28-14 lead over USC at halftime.

“At the end of the day, I kind of just kept telling the team it was going to be an emotional game, because it was senior night, but also you can’t let emotions take over because with the emotions come negativity. So it’s been a lot within this game,” Moore said. “But I feel like we pushed out ourselves Monday through Friday to get the result we wanted.”

USC head coach Lincoln Riley lamented the team’s struggles as their College Football Playoff hopes were seemingly dashed.

  • Ryan Day gives major injury update on Jeremiah Smith ahead of Michigan game

    [ad_1]

The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes moved to 11-0 on Saturday after securing a dominant 42-9 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, despite being without star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, who both missed the game with lower-body injuries.

At the moment, there isn’t significant concern in Columbus ahead of the regular-season finale. However, if Wednesday or Thursday arrive and neither receiver is on the practice field, even in a limited capacity, doubt could begin to creep in as Ohio State prepares for its biggest game of the season against its rival, the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has struggled against Michigan during his tenure, losing the last four meetings — a glaring blemish on an otherwise elite resume. The Buckeyes’ most recent loss came nearly a year ago in their last matchup with the Wolverines.

Following Saturday’s win, Day addressed the media and provided an update on the injury status of both Smith and Tate heading into rivalry week.

“The only thing I’ll really say is they’re day-to-day, and the staff and those guys are working really hard to get ready to play next week,” Day said. “The guys had a really good week of work in terms of focus, and it was a good opportunity for others to step up in different ways. It’ll be the same this week, and those guys will have to fight like heck to get back on the field.”

Smith is widely regarded as the best wide receiver in college football, and Tate isn’t far behind him. Their importance to Ohio State’s success can’t be overstated.

Smith consistently draws the opponent’s top defender and has been dominant this season, recording 69 receptions for 902 yards, 10 touchdowns, and an average of 13.1 yards per catch. Tate has hauled in 39 receptions for 711 yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging an impressive 18.2 yards per reception.

  • Bill Belichick’s daughter-in-law unleashes profanity-filled rant at Jordon Hudson after Tar Heels game: report

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Bill Belichick’s daughter-in-law reportedly lashed out at the legendary coach’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, in a “nearly hour-long profanity-laced tirade” after a game, adding to the whirlwind of controversy in his first year as UNC Tar Heels head football coach.

The New York Post first reported the outburst by Jen Belichick, the wife of the coaching legend’s son, Steve Belichick, who serves as UNC’s defensive coordinator.

The incident allegedly occurred Nov. 8 inside the elder Belichick’s office, where Jen Belichick didn’t hold back her opinions on Hudson — from fashion choices to her relationship with her father-in-law to her body — while the 73-year-old coach was in the room.

The Tar Heels are not enjoying the best season. The team is 4-6 in Belichick’s inaugural college heading into a matchup with Duke at home Saturday. But the rant from Jen Belichick came after a win over Stanford. The feeling of victory seemed to be short-lived because Jen Belichick was “furious with Hudson” regarding an interaction they had earlier in the day.

Jen Belichick proceeded to call Hudson “bats— crazy,” while adding that all she “does is control s—.” It reportedly got to the point where Jen Belichick allegedly said Hudson was “f—ing twisting” her father-in-law’s brain and even pleaded for him to “wake up.”

Jen Belichick allegedly told the room, which included more than just her husband, father-in-law and Hudson, that she didn’t care if her tirade resulted in her husband’s firing or her father-in-law disowning her.

BILL BELICHICK RELEASES STATEMENT INSISTING HE WON’T BE PURSUING NFL COACHING JOBS

“He wants to fire you, fire you. He wants to f—ing disown me, disown me. I don’t f—ing care,” Jen Belichick allegedly told her husband in front of the group.

Another part of the rant included Jen Belichick berating Hudson about her fashion choices, visible at Tar Heels games as she watches from the sideline. Jen Belichick specifically took a shot at Hudson’s snakeskin prints she’s worn to games, while commenting on her body as well.

“You also need to eat a burger,” Jen Belichick allegedly told Hudson.

The Post reported that Jen Belichick’s tirade lasted about 40 minutes.

    Jordon Hudson fixes her hair

This isn’t the first time Jen Belichick has said something about Hudson, and it dates back to the infamous “CBS Sunday Mornings” interview, when the 24-year-old interrupted  awkwardly after Bill Belichick received a question about how the couple met.

At the time, a pair of Bill Belichick’s former New England Patriots players, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, were commenting on it during their “Dudes on Dudes” podcast. They alleged that Hudson was “working with Coach Belichick in the professional world” as his publicist.

Comedian Nikki Glaser, who was part of the Tom Brady roast on Netflix that featured Edelman and Gronkowski, supported what the former NFL stars said in an Instagram comment. She wrote, “100% this. She’s acting as his publicist. Publicists do this during interviews. People are out for blood.”

Jen Belichick jumped in to the comment section to reply to Glaser.

“Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” she wrote.

Fox News Digital did not immediately get a response for comment from UNC Athletics about whether this argument took place after the game Nov. 8.

It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Bill Belichick since entering the college football world with a struggling on-the-field product and off-the-field distractions.

However, with NFL head coaching vacancies already open following mid-season terminations, Belichick reassured everyone at Chapel Hill he plans on staying put.

“Since arriving in Chapel Hill, my commitment to the UNC Football program has not [wavered],” Belichick said in a statement after the New York Giants fired Brian Daboll, leading to talks about him becoming their next leader.

“We have tremendous support from the university, our alumni, and the entire Carolina community. My focus remains solely on continuing to improve this team, develop our players, and build a program that makes Tar Heel fans proud.”

Samuel Harris ran for 102 yards on 12 carries, but the rest of the offense struggled, with Kaden Anderson getting benched after going 6-of-23 for 64 yards and an interception. The Cowboys managed just nine first downs and 184 yards of total offense in the loss.
