    [ad_1]

Naslen and Mamitha Baiju starrer Premalu was released in theatres in 2024 and went on to become a massive box-office hit. While a sequel titled Premalu 2 was announced earlier, it now appears that the project has been shelved by the makers.

Is Naslen and Mamitha Baiju starrer Premalu 2 shelved?

According to a report by the online portal Kerala Box Office, Premalu 2 has been shelved by the makers. The sequel was announced during the success event of the first installment and was reportedly planned on a much larger scale than Premalu.

However, it now seems that the sequel will not move forward. While this remains unconfirmed, early speculation suggested that the final screenplay failed to impress Naslen, leading the actor to step away from the project.

Although these claims are currently based on rumours, an official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.

Lokah Chapter 1 faces BACKLASH on THIS comment in the film; Makers released official statement

Popular Malayalam film actor and producer Dulquer Salmaan is in controversy these days. His production company Wayfare Films’ recently released film Lokaah Chapter 1: Chandra is doing well at the box office, but the film has been embroiled in a controversy over a dialogue. A scene in the film shows Inspector Nachiyappa Gowda, played by choreographer-turned-actor Sandy, saying that he does not want to marry girls from Bengaluru because they are “characterless”. Calling this dialogue anti-women, viewers, especially from Karnataka, strongly objected to it. The controversy quickly gained momentum on social media. People alleged that the film not only insults women, but also misrepresents the identity of Bengaluru.

What is the Lokah Chapter 1 controversy?

In view of the growing anger, Dulquer Salmaan’s company Wayfare Films issued an official apology on social media on Tuesday. The company wrote that they have come to know that a dialogue spoken in the film has hurt the sentiments of the people of Karnataka. They said, “It has come to our attention that a dialogue delivered by one of the characters in our film Lokah: Chapter One has unintentionally hurt the sentiments of people from Karnataka. At Wayfarer Films, we place people above everything else. We deeply regret this oversight and assure you that no offence was intended. The dialogue in question will be removed/edited at the earliest. We sincerely apologise for the hurt caused and humbly request you to accept our apology.”

At the same time, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has also taken the matter seriously. He said that it has been sent to the Social Media Monitoring Cell of the Central Crime Branch and action will be taken if violation of law is found. However, despite the controversies, there has been no significant impact on the earnings of Loka Chapter 1: Chandra. This film has earned more than Rs 30 crore at the domestic box office.
