Parents Dust Off Their Hero Hats to Tackle Home-Schooling With Jaques of London by Their Side

    [ad_1]

With the country in another national lockdown, parents are feeling the pressures of home-schooling like never before. One Kent-based company, Jaques of London, has taken significant steps to support UK parents. Founded in 1795, this family-run business has lived through two World Wars and seen enough to know that, together, the British people can get through anything.

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 15, 2021

Over half of the nation’s parents have turned to search engines to seek guidance on key school subjects. Google data suggests that curriculum-related queries have increased by up to 398% since April 2019. This is a direct result of the pandemic having forced schools to close across the nation. Now parents are left frantically brushing up on ‘Fractions’ or ‘Flags of the World’ in a bid to help tutor their children at home.

It comes as no surprise, then, that at the top of every parent’s wish list is access to reliable learning resources that kids want to do. An analysis of home-schooling during the coronavirus (published by the Office for National Statistics) found that 52% of parents have a child in their household who is struggling with home education, 77% of which is due to “lack of motivation”. This is where 8th generation Toymakers, Jaques of London, come in.

At the beginning of January, Jaques of London launched their new initiative for 2021, ‘Mini Minds Hub’—where education meets fun! Throughout the next six weeks of national lockdown, the company will release free resources to millions of parents who desperately need new ways to make learning fun. The Jaques’ resources have all been designed by UK Teachers and stand to be a saving grace for many UK households. As committed toymakers, their legacy has teaching, education, and Montessori play wrapped up in a neat bow.

Joe Jaques, Co-Owner of Jaques of London, said: “During these difficult times, we all need to do our bit to help each other. We aim to keep kids at the centre of everything we do, which is why we employ teachers to design our toys and why it seemed natural for us to now focus those efforts into making as many free educational resources as possible. For the past 225 years, our motto has been to ‘Teach the world to play’ and, given the current crisis, we now hope to ‘Teach the world to learn’ because learning should be fun first and foremost!”

Though many classrooms have taken up online lessons to bridge the learning gap until school resumes, many believe that online learning cannot facilitate education in the same way. One Primary School teacher said: “Teaching the children online is a real challenge because every child learns at their own pace. Online learning has obvious limitations, particularly for younger children, as some children need face-to-face interaction to give them confidence. That’s why we urge parents to continue the learning at home wherever possible.”

For parents who are searching for that helping hand, the Jaques’ Mini Minds Hub might be just the ticket. In one fell swoop, they have answered the call for credible, cost-free resources that keep children engaged and help to support all those hard-working Mum and Dad heroes. There is no sign-up or purchase required to grant you access—it has all been made available for anyone to enjoy. A quick browse on their website will show you a whole host of fun and informative worksheets that are printable at the click of a button—complete with low-colour versions to save parent’s pennies on printer ink! It is home learning made easy.

Joe Jaques went on to say: “As a Dad of two, I know too well how problematic it can be to keep kids interested in learning—especially with all the distractions we have at home. Our newly launched campaign is where education meets fun. Parents will find free activities for kids, a reward chart to track development, and a certificate of completion to celebrate their progress. It’s essentially a home-schooling survival kit to reward kids for their hard work and to applaud parents for doing such a great job at assuming this new parent-teacher role!”

As family figureheads up and down the country dust off their teaching caps and hero hats, in their corner is Jaques of London. With a band of UK Teachers behind them, Jaques of London aim to make a real difference in homes up and down the country by engaging children with the joys of learning and supporting parents during this historic time.

    updated: Nov 21, 2020

Learn and Play Montessori, a best-in-class provider of online kindergarten and online preschool taught in an innovative, Montessori-inspired way, is proud to announce new information resources focused on online preschool activities. The new information in video format helps busy parents find best-in-class online preschool activities to keep their preschoolers engaged and learning in this time of Pandemic. “Our online preschool activities are delivered in video format,” explained Harpreet Grewal, director of Learn and Play Montessori. “Our focus is to provide best-in-class preschool activities for busy parents and their preschoolers. We know that many parents are struggling not only to keep their children engaged but to keep them learning in today’s environment.”

Persons interested in exploring the online preschool activities can find a key information page at https://www.learnandplaymontessori.com/blog/online-activities/. That page lists key video assets that parents can access for their children. An example video is the hand-washing song at https://youtu.be/cO7Fq1x5UeE. In that video, “Miss Emily” teaches children how to properly wash their hands – obviously a key life skill in today’s environment. A second example focuses on fun learning about dinosaurs at https://youtu.be/LNp_kU_zd-U and now tops over twenty thousand views. Parents who want to dig in to the cornucopia of online preschool options can visit https://www.learnandplaymontessori.com/online-learning/ or reach out to the staff for a consultation via phone or email. The school offers face-to-face and fully online/virtual options.

ONLINE PRESCHOOL ACTIVITIES THAT KEEP CHILDREN LEARNING

Here is the background on this release. It’s no secret that both parents and preschoolers are struggling to keep learning in today’s environment. The pandemic has shut schools across the country and forced many of them into an online-only learning environment. At the same time, many parents are working from home or have to continue their job activities which may be outside the home. Parents, in short, have been left as the last resource for society to keep their children learning. The new post identifies where busy parents can avail themselves of these best in class online learning resources.

    Press Release

    updated: Mar 26, 2020

Learn and Play Montessori, a best-in-class preschool program in Fremont, Danville, and Dublin, California, is proud to announce a new informational post that parents can read during the current shutdown. The post helps parents understand the importance of “play” as a way to bolster foundational skills in science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM.

“While our schools are closed during the current crisis, we want to encourage parents to think strategically about how they can nurture foundational skills for success at STEM,” explained Harpreet Grewal, director of Learn and Play Montessori. “Our new post shares why a teaching approach that includes plenty of child-guided playtime for curious little students can set the foundation for better learning in later grades.”

Bay Area parents can review the new post about Fremont preschool choices at https://www.learnandplaymontessori.com/blog/if-you-are-looking-for-preschools-in-fremont-there-is-a-lot-of-choice/. A curriculum designed to mix play and discovery can guide a young student towards developing key skills. Self-directing techniques could help children learn simple science facts, writing, and necessary math skills. Interested residents can review the Montessori preschool informational page at https://www.learnandplaymontessori.com/preschool/. Persons who want to learn more about the shutdown, can visit the information page at https://www.learnandplaymontessori.com/blog/covid-19-update-on-3-18-2020/

A MONTESSORI METHOD HELPS FREMONT PRESCHOOL STUDENTS PRACTICE ‘NATURAL LEARNING’

Here is the background on this release. Small children can appear to be in constant movement during waking hours. Natural inclinations to touch, taste, and manipulate items can help young children learn about the world around them. Bay Area families might prefer a childcare program designed to support inherent learning skills. Fremont preschools using Montessori teaching methods can be the right path for a life-long love of education. For these reasons, Learn and Play Montessori announces a new post about Fremont preschools. Even parents who are “homeschooling” during the shutdown can use these tactics to help their children.

DANVILLE, SAN RAMON, AND ALAMO HAVE PRESCHOOL OPTIONS FOR CHILDREN HUNGRY FOR KNOWLEDGE

Here is the background for this release. It’s common for young children to stop and examine everything in their environment. Family walks can turn into engaging learning moments. Parents living around the I-680 corridor might need an early education program robust enough to keep up with a curious child. For this reason, Learn and Play has announced a new page consolidating positive reviews.

    Press Release

    updated: Dec 19, 2017

Learn And Play Montessori School is launching a new school location in Danville, California. The new school, set to open on Jan. 2, has enrollment open now. The Danville campus will serve children 18 months to six years of age and will be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The school will host an open house for parents who wish to take a walk-through Dec. 18 to 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Danville campus is nestled in a lush green serene surrounding and offers a spacious and beautiful Tudor cottage style campus, which has eight colorful and inviting classrooms that are filled with sequenced and high-quality Montessori material. A spacious playground, separate for each age group, in the back of the school is fully gated and offers a safe environment for children as they play and work on strengthening their gross motor skills.

Montessori schools have been so successful because children work on activities of their own choice at their own pace. Children experience the opportunity to solve problems, learn, play and develop freedom and self-discipline in a place especially designed to meet their developmental needs.

Harpreet Grewal, CEO of Learn And Play Montessori School

Learn And Play Montessori School in Danville offers year-round programs and is designed to be a hands-on learning environment where children will be introduced to math facts, phonics, writing phrases in script and cursive, poetry, expressive language, and the concepts of earth, water, continents, and countries as well as learn an extensive vocabulary for botany, biology, and cultural concepts.

With close to 4,000 certified Montessori schools in the United States and about 7,000 worldwide, demand is climbing among parents who want their children to have a Montessori education. Some Montessori schools are even seeing a waitlist. The school’s philosophy and way of teaching was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician, educator, and innovator.

Montessori schools have had some very successful graduates. Founders of Google Larry Page and Sergey Brin both attended Montessori schools as did the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos. Former First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis as well as Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Henry (Harry) of Wales KCVO all attended a Montessori school.

“Montessori schools have been so successful because children work on activities of their own choice at their own pace,” says Harpreet Grewal, CEO of Learn And Play Montessori School. “Children experience the opportunity to solve problems, learn, play and develop freedom and self-discipline in a place especially designed to meet their developmental needs.”
