Authorities including the Texas Game Wardens and the Tarrant Regional Water District are searching the water for a kayaker who went missing Monday at the Marine Creek Reservoir in northwest Fort Worth.
The search team includes a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department dog and her handler, according to a department spokesperson.
A friend of the missing man called 911 Monday after his truck was found near a boat ramp at the lake.
Fort Worth Fire Department divers and police also have assisted with the search.
Fort Worth police said in a news release that they received a call about 8 p.m. Monday alerting them that a person was missing in the 4700 block of TCC Lakeside Drive.
The missing man’s last known contact with friends and family was around 10 a.m. Monday, when he said he was going fishing and kayaking, according to police. After several hours without contact, family members pinged his last known location, which led officers to the search area.
The FWPD Air One helicopter responded and police spotted the man’s empty kayak on the east side of the lake.
Fire Department dive searched until about 11 p.m. Monday, when officials with the Tarrant Regional Water District arrived and assumed search operations.

The body of a missing North Carolina man was recently found in South Carolina and two people have been arrested, according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
On Nov. 20, the body of 33-year-old Mocksville, North Carolina, resident Jonathan Charles Shores was found in a wooded area near Newberry Road, the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office said. That’s in a part of Winnsboro between I-26 and I-77, and it’s about 130 miles from Mocksville, which is in Davidson County, North Carolina.
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said it was working with members of the Davidson County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office to find Shores, who was believed to have been shot and killed Nov. 9 — in Lexington, N.C. His remains were left by two people driving through South Carolina, before they continued on to Georgia, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
It appears that South Carolina’s only connection to Shores’ death is that it was where his body was dumped by 26-year-old Jose Guadalupe Lopez and his 31-year-old girlfriend Brennan Summer Alexander, Fairfield County Sheriff Will Montgomery said in a news release.
Lopez is accused of shooting Shores then leaving North Carolina in the victim’s vehicle, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said. Alexander joined Lopez in the car, and neither of them provided aid to the victim nor reported the shooting to law enforcement, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
There was no word on a motive for the shooting, or what, if any, connection Shores had to Lopez or Alexander prior to the gunfire.
Lopez was taken into custody in Richmond County, Georgia, where he’s being held until extradition back to North Carolina will be arranged, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said. Lopez, a convicted felon, was taken into custody Nov. 10 in Georgia on a possession of a firearm by a felon charge, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said. At that time, Shores had not yet been reported missing, and deputies released the vehicle to Alexander.
On Nov. 11, Shores was reported missing in Davidson County by his family, the coroner’s office said.
That was the same day that Alexander was arrested in Columbia County, Georgia, by members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for a hit-and-run collision while driving Shores’ vehicle, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies noted that the vehicle was associated with an active missing person investigation, and a possible bullet hole and biological evidence were discovered inside the vehicle, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office seized the vehicle and Alexander was booked into the Columbia County Jail, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
In North Carolina, Lopez is facing a first-degree murder charge in addition to counts of conceal/fail to report death, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and two counts of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, law enforcement said.
Alexander will be charged with accessory after the fact in multiple counts in North Carolina, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Like Lopez, Alexander is waiting to be extradited back to North Carolina.
Based on evidence and investigative work, detectives developed a timeline that placed Lopez and Alexander along with the victim’s body traveling through Fairfield County during the early morning hours of Nov. 10, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said. That’s when their counterparts from Davidson County asked the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office for help in searching areas of interest in South Carolina.
A canvas of local camera systems and their surveillance footage corroborated Davidson County’s timeline of movements in the Winnsboro area on Nov. 10.
Despite the arrests, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said it’s continuing to investigate the shooting, along with the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office.
“Partnerships and thorough forensic and digital investigative work were essential in locating Mr. Shores and advancing this investigation,” Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons said in a news release.

Family and friends searching for a missing man found his bicycle abandoned near “blood stains and spent bullet casings,” leading to a monthslong homicide investigation, California police say.
McClatchy News is not naming the men as they have not been formally charged.
Officers responded to a missing persons report shortly after 10:30 a.m. June 22, police said.
Friends and family reported a man last seen three days earlier as missing after finding “his bicycle was found abandoned near a creek trail, a short distance from blood stains and spent bullet casings,” police said.
Officers found his disappearance “suspicious in nature” and launched a homicide investigation, according to police.
Days after the man’s bike was found, police said DNA testing confirmed the bloodstains belonged to the missing man, “further indicating foul play was involved,” police said.
Detectives canvassed the area, spoke to witnesses and served search warrants, police said.
In doing so, detectives identified two cars believed to be connected to the missing man’s death, police said.
The cars were near where the man was last seen alive, police said, adding that they also identified the three men as suspects in his killing.
Evidence led detectives to believe the missing man was likely killed, then “buried in the Saratoga Hills area,” according to police.
Police said investigators got arrest warrants for the three men, ages 44, 43 and 41, as well as warrants to search their homes.
Two days after the men’s arrests on Oct. 7, detectives, aided by cadaver dogs from the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue Team, found the remains of a man buried near Saratoga Hills, according to police.
The remains were recovered and turned over to the Santa Clara County Crime Lab and Office of the Medical Examiner, which will confirm the remains’ identity and release the man’s name, police said.
“This case was as complex as it was compelling,” Chief Paul Joseph said in the release. “Our detectives handled it with care, compassion, and relentless determination.”
McClatchy News reached out to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and is awaiting a response on formal charges.

The remains of Doh Soe, a man who lived and worked in Rochester, New York, have been identified, state police said.
New York State Police
Human remains found by a work crew in 2021 have been identified as a man who vanished after leaving his job at a sushi restaurant in Rochester, New York, fourteen years ago, according to authorities.
The remains are of Doh Soe, a Burmese refugee who lived in Rochester and worked at Wegmans Next Door Bar & Grill, according to a forensic analysis, New York State Police announced in an Oct. 1 news release.
His loved ones remember him “as a hardworking and happy young man who is deeply missed,” state police said. “They continue to seek answers and justice.”
Soe was 23-years-old when he was reported missing June 1, 2011, according to police. He was last seen leaving his workplace, where he worked as a chef, days earlier on May 29, 2011, WHAM reported.
Authorities are investigating Soe’s death as a homicide, Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker shared during an Oct. 1 news conference streamed by WHAM.
“Based upon the review of the skeleton, he wasn’t hit by a car,” Baker said. “This is not an accidental death situation.”
On Dec. 13, 2021, New York State Department of Transportation employees came across Soe’s remains in a culvert in Dansville, about a 55-mile drive south from Rochester, according to police.
Items belonging to Soe, including clothing, were also found and recovered, police said. The items are being analyzed by DNA technology that was not available in 2021.
The day of Soe’s disappearance, he bought a new phone at a mall in Greece, New York, according to police.
The phone, an LG Optimus S, has not been found, police said.
Soe was known as an important member of the LGBTQ community and Burmese community in Rochester, Baker said during the news conference.
New York State Police said anyone with tips on his disappearance can call 607-225-5400.
“Calls can be made anonymously, and no detail is too small,” authorities said.

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for three men and their 31-foot-long fishing vessel after seven days of searching the ocean.
The agency said in a news release that its crews had searched more than 94,000 square miles, “an area larger in size than the states of Georgia and South Carolina combined.”
The three missing men have been identified as Dalton Conway, Caleb Wilkinson and Tyler Barlow. The three men were hired by the owner of the boat, a fishing vessel named the Carol Ann, and departed Brunswick, Georgia, on Oct. 14 to fish about 80 miles offshore. They did not return on their scheduled date of Oct. 18, and did not respond to attempts at communication.
The missing crew and boat were reported to the Coast Guard, spurring the massive search, which involved multiple helicopter and aircraft crews, several Coast Guard boats, and searchers from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

“Despite the unwavering dedication of our crews, regrettably, we have not been able to uncover any traces of the vessel and have made the difficult decision to suspend the search for three beloved family members,” said Capt. Frank DelRosso, commander of Coast Guard Sector Charleston, in the news release. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner agencies and the countless volunteers who have lent their assistance in this arduous search. Undoubtedly, they, like us, share in the deep sympathy we hold for the families of the missing individuals.”
Anyone with new information about the case is asked to contact the Coast Guard.
According to CBS News affiliate WTOC, the family of Barlow has set up a GoFundMe and intends on using the money raised to help with the search.
Hikers on Saturday discovered human remains on Southern California’s Mount Baldy, officials said, the same mountain area where British actor Julian Sands went missing more than five months ago.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that the remains were reported by hikers at about 10 a.m.
Deputies responded and transported the victim’s remains to the county coroner’s office for identification, the sheriff’s department disclosed.
The 65-year-old Sands was reported missing on the night of Jan. 13 on Mt. Baldy, a popular hiking area located in the San Gabriel Mountains, about 50 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Sheriff’s officials announced last week that they resumed the search for Sands on June 17, with over 80 search and rescue volunteers, deputies and staff taking part. However, he was not located at the time.
“Despite the recent warmer weather, portions of the mountain remain inaccessible due to extreme alpine conditions,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement last week. “Multiple areas include steep terrain and ravines, which still have 10 plus feet of ice and snow.”
This past winter, California was hit by a series of historic storms, driven by atmospheric rivers, which caused flooding and mudslides statewide and also created dangerous conditions in wilderness areas.
Two days after Sands went missing, a mother of four died after sliding more than 500 feet down Mt. Baldy. Later that same month, a 75-year-old man was found and rescued after going missing on Mt. Baldy for two days.
Sands has dozens of film and television credits over a five-decade career. They include “A Room with a View,” “Leaving Las Vegas,” “The Killing Fields,” “Oceans Thirteen” and “24.”

A search is ongoing for British actor Julian Sands, who has been missing since last week when he went hiking in a mountain area northeast of Los Angeles, authorities said Wednesday.
The 65-year-old Sands was reported missing on the night of Jan. 13 on Mount Baldy, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Sands went missing in the Baldy Bowl area, the sheriff’s department said, which includes a popular trail that leads to the Mount San Antonio summit.
Crews initially launched a search for Sands, but were forced to abandon it on Jan. 14 due to an avalanche risk and poor trail conditions, the sheriff’s department said. No further details were provided.

Over the past several weeks, California has been hard-hit by a series of fatal storms – driven by atmospheric rivers – which have brought heavy rain and snow, causing mudslides, flooding and millions of dollars in damage statewide. The storms prompted President Biden to issue a disaster declaration over the weekend.
The sheriff’s department said in a statement Wednesday it would “schedule another ground search” for Sands “when the weather improves.”
It also warned hikers to “stay away” from the Mount Baldy area.
“It is extremely dangerous and even experienced hikers are getting in trouble,” the sheriff’s department said.
On Jan. 15, Crystal Paula Gonzalez, a mother of four, died after sliding more than 500 feet down Mount Baldy. She was described by friends and family as an experienced hiker, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Mount Baldy is located in the San Gabriel Mountains, about 50 miles northeast of downtown L.A. It borders both L.A. and San Bernardino counties.
Sands has dozens of film and television credits over a five-decade career. They include “A Room with a View,” “Leaving Las Vegas,” “The Killing Fields,” “Oceans Thirteen” and “24.”

The family of rapper Theophilus London filed a missing persons report with Los Angeles police this week and are asking for the public’s help, saying he hasn’t been seen in months.
London’s family and friends believe someone last spoke to the musician in July in Los Angeles, according to the family’s statement released Wednesday from Secretly, a music label group that has worked with London. His relatives have been trying to determine his whereabouts over the last few weeks and filed a police report earlier this week, the statement said.
In a news release Wednesday night, the LAPD provided a different timeline for his disappearance, stating that London was last seen in the Skid Row area of downtown L.A. at around noon on Oct. 15, adding that “family members lost complete contact with him in October.”

The LAPD confirmed to CBS News that a missing persons report for London was filed Tuesday, but no further details were provided. London was not yet listed on the LAPD’s online missing persons database as of Wednesday evening.
“Theo, your Dad loves you, son,” his father, Lary Moses London, said in the statement. “We miss you. And all your friends and relatives are searching for you. Wherever you are send us some signal. No matter what we will come get you son.”
London posted prolifically on Instagram, but his last posts also came in July.
London, 35, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and later raised in the Brooklyn borough of New York. He was nominated for a 2016 Grammy for best rap performance for a featured spot alongside Paul McCartney on Kanye West’s “All Day.”
London has frequently collaborated with West, the artist now known as Ye, who produced and guested on 2014’s “Vibes.” London would often post updates on Ye’s “Donda” and “Donda 2” on Instagram, even sayingthat he was “promoted to tackle media duties” on Ye’s behalf for the month of February.
London himself has released three studio albums — 2011’s “Timez Are Weird These Days,” “Vibes” and 2020’s “Bebey.” He recently was a featured artist on Young Franco’s “Get Your Money,” released this past September — after his family says he was last heard from.
While “Vibes” was a Warner Records release, while “Bebey” was released on London’s own label, My Bebey Records.
“I wanted to see what a sense of family is, a sense of me having a plot of land, building a house on my own land, instead of sleeping at a hotel for the rest of my life,” he told Complex of branching out on his own in 2020.
