The Milk District’s Festival Park was taken over by brews, bevs and plenty of smiling faces this weekend with the 10th anniversary of Orlando Beer Fest.
We celebrated with scores of drinks, interactive activities, games, local food trucks, plenty of vendors, DJs, sports and live music courtesy headliner Cat Ridgeway, joined by Beemo.

New small food hall Cafe Collective has opened in the former home of Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria on Bumby Avenue, bringing a new energy to the space.
Cafe Collective, now in soft-opening mode, is designed as a food hall-style venue that will host local vendors, like current purveyors Somo T, Takitos Nueva Rosita and Whiskey Church BBQ (on weekends).
Somo T, which also opened a Winter Park location earlier this year, serves Vietnamese coffee and bánh mì. Takitos Nueva Rosita offers hot breakfast and baked goods from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
Cafe Collective will also feature guest pop-ups. On Nov. 15, Noma Matcha will set up shop from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Pom Pom Teahouse and Sandwicheria closed its doors after nearly 20 years in business in fall 2024. Owner and chef Pom Moongauklang garnered a local following with the spot’s beloved “East Meets West” sandwiches, salads and sides. Moongauklang is still playing a role in the culinary scene around town, and a reimagined Pom Pom’s has since opened in Henry’s Depot in Sanford, keeping many of its classic menu favorites.

Orlando Beer Festival takes place this weekend at the Milk District’s Festival Park, promising hundreds of varieties of beers, seltzers and spirits from local and national breweries — including Crooked Can, Broken Strings Brewery, The Salty Llama and Central 28.
But this Orlando Weekly event isn’t all just refreshing bevs. There will be activities, games, local food trucks, plenty of vendors, DJs, sports on big ol’ screens and live music. Live entertainment offerings this year are particularly leveled up with headliner Cat Ridgeway, joined by Beemo.
It’s a fall festival for the ages, whether the leaves have changed or not. (They have not.) VIP access gets you in two hours early with access to exclusive eats and drinks — all the better to toast the 10th anniversary of this fest.

Change is afoot at long-running plant-friendly food hall and “vegan collective” Market on South.
Vegan butcher The Kind Cleaver left the Milk District spot as a tenant back at the end of June, and now the entire Market is about to see some management changes.
To wit, current collective members Vegan Scoops ice creamery, Cuban food purveyor A Lo Vegano and Águila Coffee — all serving up vegan fare, not to overly belabor the point — have joined together to take over Market on South management entirely. Some remodeling of the physical space is also in the process of being finished out.
The new managers are actively seeking additional plant-based food vendors to fill out the space, but in the meantime they are open for business daily.

Due to a city construction project, businesses along a section of Robinson Street in the Milk District are bracing for protracted road closures and asking for community support.
On Monday, the Orlando Utilities Commission began installing a new underground electric transmission line along Robinson Street from North Fern Creek Avenue to North Crystal Lake Drive. The project will see street blockages for at least the next three weeks on this usually bustling stirip, OUC says, followed by months of construction through January 2025.
Storefronts and businesses operating along the several blocks of construction include Etoile Boutique, Bull and Bush, Hair Godz, Minuteman Press, Rugged Perspective, Gringos Locos, Sportstown Billiards, Stay Still Studio and The Nook on Robinson.
In a press release, OUC says the construction may obstruct access to some businesses for brief periods, but access to parking lots will not be affected. Most of the construction is expected to occur during normal working hours, Monday through Saturday.
The work will include excavation and installation of new manholes along the street. Once these manholes are installed, OUC anticipates keeping one lane of Robinson Street open in at least one direction, according to the project plan.

The boutique also shared a video (below) showing patrons how to navigate the area.
Neighboring bar The Nook on Robinson also took to social media to ask for continued support throughout the construction process.
