    Netflix has unveiled its first “KPop Demon Hunters” collaboration with toy maker Hasbro, with the release of an official Monopoly Deal card game based on the hit animated film.

    The Monopoly Deal: Kpop Demon Hunters Card Game dropped this month on Amazon as the first official release from Netflix’s licensing deal with Hasbro. First announced last fall, the partnership will feature the “KPop Demon Hunters” characters used across Hasbro’s line of board games, plush toys and electronics, including popular IP like Nerf and Furby. Hasbro has teased a “range of engaging collaborations designed to delight fans of all ages.”

    Monopoly Deal: Kpop Demon Hunters Card Game

    The officially-licensed Monopoly Deal game combines characters and themes from the Netflix film with the same goal of collecting a full set of cards. Only in this case, players race to collect items that Rumi, Mira and Zoey need to make the concert a success and seal the Honmoon.

    The all-ages game was released Jan. 1 and became an instant bestseller online, with Amazon reporting more than 8,000 units of the card game sold in its first week alone.

    In addition to Hasbro, Netflix is also developing a toy partnership with Mattel, with the brands teaming up to launch a full range of “KPop Demon Hunters”–themed dolls, action figures, accessories and playsets. The first release in the Netflix and Mattel partnership is a three-pack of HUNTR/X dolls set to drop later this year.

    Can’t wait for the official Mattel launch? Amazon currently has this three-pack of “KPop Demon Hunters”-inspired dolls available online. Each doll is fully posable and measures approximately 11.5 inches in height.

    Netflix calls the Mattel and Hasbro licensing deals a way to “help meet the massive fan demand to have these favorite characters as part of their everyday lives, and marks another major milestone for Netflix’s smash global hit.”

  • Trader Joe’s Halloween Mini Totes Are Back—and They’re Already Causing Chaos

    Trader Joe’s stores have a reputation for getting crowded at the best of times, but if you’re planning to make a stop in the next few days, beware: the brand just dropped a Halloween version of its mini tote bags, and they already went viral twice for creating in-store traffic jams.

    The bags, which come in combinations of black, orange, purple, and green, cost just $2.99 each and dropped in stores on October 8. They’re a tiny version of Trader Joe’s classic reusable tote bags, measuring just 13 x 11 x 6 inches—about the size of an iPad. This is the third time that Trader Joe’s has released a new version of the bags, which have proven to be a desirable fan favorite (to put it mildly).

    When Trader Joe’s first debuted the mini tote in March 2024, social media exploded with videos of shoppers lining up to grab the product, with many shoppers piling their carts with every available colorway. The story was similar in April 2025, when Trader Joe’s announced a pastel line of the totes. If eBay sellers are to be believed, these bag designs have become full-on collectors items, with sets of the previous drops selling for over $100 on the site.

    Despite the fact that the new Halloween bags just dropped this morning, all signs indicate that Trader Joe’s shoppers are in for another round of mini tote fervor. Already, several TikToks show crowds lining up for the bags. One Trader Joe’s employee shared an unboxing video of the bags, encouraging shoppers to get one of their own. Another customer has already decked out her new bags with color-coordinated Labubus. On eBay, sets of the Halloween bags are retailing for over $50.

    “It’s 6:49 a.m. and I’m on my way to Trader Joes,” one TikToker shared. “If I don’t get these Halloween tote bags, I’m gonna have a fit.”

    Why is everyone so obsessed with the Trader Joe’s mini tote?

    It’s possible that the mini tote craze is related to the increasing size of the reusable bag market, which is expanding in part due to plastic bag bans (eight states ban single-use plastic bags, and cities including New York and Washington, D.C. charge fees for their use). But the more likely reason for the trend is simpler: within our current stage of consumer capitalism, niche accessories are having a moment.

    In August, Fast Company wrote about the rise of the “meta-accessory,” a kind of accessory mainly designed to compliment another accessory. That includes items like a lipgloss phone case; a Stanley water bottle backpack; an $1,000 bag charm; or a Labubu for a Labubu. All of these pieces serve minimal utilitarian purposes, and seem mainly geared toward convincing consumers that they need to make yet another little purchase.

    At Trader Joe’s, the mini tote is like a tote bag for your regular tote bag—and, clearly, shoppers can’t get enough.

    Want to hear your next album on vinyl?

    Pressing vinyl is a common goal for musicians. And understandably so!

    There’s something really special about vinyl. The tangible aspect of it somehow makes your music feel more real. The large packaging gives you more room to create a mood before listeners even drop the needle. And then of course there’s the sonic warmth. 

    Plus, recent data shows that vinyl sales can play a significant part in a profitable music career. That’s why we’ve worked to find a high-quality, affordable, and dependable vinyl-record manufacturing solution for career-minded musicians. 

    But before you press vinyl, there are a few things you should absolutely understand!

    What you need to know before you make a vinyl record

    1. Your album should be mastered for vinyl

    Vinyl is a unique beast. And sound gets etched in those grooves in a way that requires dedicated mastering. In order to make the most of vinyl’s unique audio properties, have your mastering engineer do a separate master specifically for vinyl.

    In fact, knowing you’re going to press your album on vinyl could even impact the way you MIX your music. For instance, it’s often recommended for vinyl that bass and low-end frequencies be centered in the mix. (No hard-panning).

    Be sure your engineers understand this relationship between the vinyl format and the audio embedded on it. 

    To put this simply, vinyl packaging is big! Much bigger than CD. And often with different components than a CD.

    The plus side is that you get a bigger visual playground. Which can help to build a more immersive vibe. 

    The downside is, you may need your designer to create a few more visual assets. Be sure to provide them with detailed specifications for vinyl record design. 

    3. Vinyl takes time! 

    If you’ve paid attention to the vinyl industry over the past 5 years, you may have heard that there are often long turnaround times at vinyl pressing plants, due to limited capacity and high demand. 

    There’s also the matter of approving your test-pressing. 

    All this means, manufacturing vinyl records usually takes a lot more time than pressing CDs. Plan accordingly, and leave some wiggle room for unforeseen delays. 

    4. Vinyl records don’t sell themselves 

    This is a harsh truth, but needs to be said: Just because you press vinyl doesn’t mean you’ll suddenly have fans or customers.

    Most of the vinyl you sell will either move at gigs (so make sure you’re touring!) or on your own webstore (so make sure you’re marketing music online!)

    If your existing fanbase is hungry for merch, and you’ve already gauged their interest in vinyl, great! You might sell out of stock before the record is even pressed. 

    Just don’t expect the format to work its own magic. You are the magic. 

    5. How to choose size, weight, & speed

    There are a lot of options to consider when it comes to this format.

    Vinyl comes in different sizes: 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch. 

    You also have options when it comes to weight: 140 and 180g. 

    And it can also be played at different speeds: 33 or 45 RPMs. 

    The size, weight, and speed of vinyl will all impact how much music can fit per side, and the fidelity of the audio. 

    So be sure to understand each of those factors when you decide what’s best for your album.


    Conclusion

    There’s a lot to understand before you press vinyl. But thankfully all the info you need is easily available.

    Want to sell music merch on Spotify where people are already listening to your songs

    It makes sense to offer products (albums, hats, mugs, shirts, posters, books) right from your Spotify artist page. Because that’s likely to be one of your most visible properties online!

    And as Luminate’s 2024 midyear music industry report shows, not only should merch sales be an important part of your revenue picture as an artist, but paid streaming subscribers are actually MORE likely than other listeners to purchase physical formats like CD and vinyl.

    To feature merch on your Spotify profile:

    1. You need a Spotify for Artists account.

    If you’re not yet verified, go to Artists.Spotify.com.

    2. Next, you need a Shopify account.

    To get just the most streamlined features, there is a starter plan for $5/month. 

    If you already had a Shopify store, then it’s simple; just move on to step 3!

    However, if you’re brand new to Shopify, you’ll need to spend some time inputing your merch items, quantities, size specifications (for things like shirts and sweatshirts), prices, etc.

    3. It’s time to connect Shopify & Spotify.

    You do that either by clicking the MERCH button in Spotify for Artists…

    … and adding the URL of your Shopify store:

    Or you can add the Spotify for Artists app within the Shopify App Store:

    4. Got multiple artists on your roster?

    If you’re a manager or label who has many artists in either your Shopify or Spotify account, you’ll be asked to select which merch belongs with which artist.

    5. Arrange the merch on Spotify

    Then you’ll see a display of merch items listed in Spotify for Artists (under the Merch section), with the most recently added items at the top.

    You can manually pin a handful of items when you want to feature the most important merch at the top of your store on Spotify.

    6. Be mindful of merch availability.

    Anytime one of your merch items is out of stock, it’ll automatically be removed from Spotify. 

    And be aware that whenever you add a new merch item in Shopify, you may need to manually post it to the collection or store that’s connected to Spotify. 

    7. Spotlight your best-seller or newest merch.

    Lastly, whenever you drop new merch, be sure to use Spotify’s Artist Pick section to prominently feature the item at the top of your profile.

    Silent Hill: Ascension hasn’t made a big impact on the video game world, but maybe its licensed T-shirts will. Konami recently announced some tie-in merch, which is now available on its website. The store features some generic shirts, a hoodie, and a green beanie, but, most importantly, a light blue T-shirt and mug that say “It’s trauma” surrounded by rainbows and stars in the bubbliest font.

    If you’ve ever wanted the most emotionally problematic merch that looks surprisingly great and reflects how you feel on the inside, this is the purchase for you.

    When Silent Hill: Ascension was announced, it promised a new take on the series by being an interactive, live, choose-your-own-adventure-inspired experience. It was the tagline “It’s trauma,” though, that made a big impact on me, specifically because it was so bewildering. It was very on the nose for a story that was, as we were told, about trauma. Even worse, it was insulting to both people with trauma and Silent Hill fans who knew the franchise’s history with the topic.

    For example, Silent Hill 2 offered a profound commentary on trauma, grief, and guilt, creating a character-driven story that differentiated itself from the first game’s dense lore-based world. These are themes the Silent Hill franchise has been chasing throughout its lifetime, sometimes successfully (Silent Hill: Shattered Memories) and sometimes not (Silent Hill: Downpour).

    Silent Hill: Ascension is just the latest to try and capture that magic, and it’s been a huge failure. Critics have slammed the interactive story for failing to understand the core concept of “Silent Hill as trauma,” for stilted dialogue, and for being a general slog to sit through. The completely arbitrary season pass and microtransactions, which featured cosmetics and allowed players to choose characters’ actions, didn’t help with making it feel like a tonally consistent experience. It’s tough to take any piece of media seriously when it releases a purchasable sticker that shouts its theme. You didn’t know this was a game about trauma? Now you do.

    A T-shirt or mug isn’t going to make Ascension any better, but the “it’s trauma” sentiment makes for some perfectly ironic merch. Plus, with how the world is right now, you can do much worse than a T-shirt or mug that screams “I have a relationship to trauma.”

    Union Urges Music Venues and Festivals to Stop Cutting Into Artists’ Merchandise Sales – EDM.com

    A lot is expected from musicians, but nobody wants to pay for it. That includes music venues and festivals.

    The Union of Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW), known for their steadfast campaigns against Spotify, are pushing venues and music festivals to stop taking percentages of musicians’ merchandise sales.

    The campaign, dubbed “#MyMerch,” has brought in the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) and Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon to assist. It comes after a successful campaign in the U.K. that FAC completed earlier this year.
