  • Donald Trump Jr. Is Engaged (Again). Will Bettina Anderson Get a White House Wedding?

    As the father of the groom looked on in the background, Don Jr. took the microphone, thanking Anderson, standing to his right in a strapless red dress with a stone twinkling on her ring finger, for “that one word: yes.”

    “When you’re down there and you’re gonna go, and you’re trying to ask, and you’re not sure what the answer’s gonna be, it’s always a little bit rough,” he said of the proposal. “But she said yes, so that’s a big win for the end of the year.”

    This is the third time Don Jr. has gotten engaged, which explains that “always” he dropped. Trump was previously engaged, then married to Vanessa Trump, who has been romantically linked to golf star Tiger Woods since early this year, and before Anderson, was engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, whose relationship with Trump ended about the same time as her ambassadorship to Greece was announced and Anderson and Trump’s relationship became public. Are those last things connected? Who could even begin to say!

    The engagement could be seen as a belated birthday present to Anderson, who turned 39 on December 1, or one heck of an early Christmas stocking stuffer.

    Or, hey, maybe there’s something in the air: Earlier Monday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who recently announced that she will resign from her position in January following disagreements with the president, shared that she is also engaged to be married, in her case to journalist Brian Glenn of Real America’s Voice.

    The White House, when contacted by Vanity Fair for comment on the presidential offspring’s latest betrothal, referred us to Don Jr.’s representative. As of the publication of this article, that spokesperson did not respond to the request for comment.

    Anderson also said a few words to the assembled well-wishers at the White House Monday, where her experience as a benefit host, welcoming and thanking attendees and sponsors, was apparent.

    “Wow, what a privilege it is to be here in the White House, Mr. President,” she said. “To our first lady—these decorations! Am I right? Are they unbelievable? This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life and I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel just like the luckiest girl in the world.”

    Those “unbelievable” Christmas decorations masterminded by Melania Trump include a Lego recreation of her husband’s mugshot alongside one of George Washington’s presidential portraits, as well as topple-ready structures made of dominoes and playing cards. It’s an about-face from the chilling blood-red trees of yesteryear, though no update has been publicly offered on whether she now “gives a fuck about Christmas stuff and decorations” as she said in 2018.

  • Donald and Melania Trump Have Themselves an Awkward Little Christmas

    Hosting the Congressional Ball seems like it should be one of the easiest tasks on the Trumps’ agenda. The annual party is a bipartisan event where members of the House of Representatives and Senate gather to celebrate the holidays at the White House. All the president and First Lady have to do is show up in something festive, issue some generic holiday well-wishes, and smile.

    Yet Donald and Melania Trump found a way to make things awkward.

    Melania’s approach to the holidays has always been weirdly spooky, and her attire on Thursday night kept with her inexplicably goth Christmas aesthetic. She wore a black velvet blazer and pants by Dolce & Gabbana over a sheer, high-necked black lace blouse.

    We all know Melania may or may not give a fuck about Christmas, so there’s really no reason to draw attention to her odd vision for the holiday. But the president chose to compliment his wife’s efforts this year by reminiscing about her previous holiday decorating debacles.

    “I would say this is the best. Although, I liked the red trees,” he said. “She got criticized for the red trees. Then I liked the white trees and she was criticized for the white trees. Then I liked the green trees and she got criticized and she went back to green, and they love it.”

    Donald tested Melania’s ability to remain expressionless again a few minutes later, when he breezily recalled how distraught House Majority Leader Steve Scalise’s wife was when he was shot and nearly killed in 2017. He noted that some wives — like maybe the woman standing next to him? — might have had a different reaction.

    “I found out that night you have a wife who loves you dearly,” Trump said. “I know many wives who would not even be crying.”

    In her own brief remarks, Melania thanked lawmakers for supporting the Take It Down Act, which she proudly called “our greatest triumph in my office, in the First Lady’s office, in 2025.”

    She concluded by teasing that she has another legislative project planned for the New Year.

    “I hope you will be excited to support my new legislative initiative in 2026,” she said. “Some of you already know about it because it’s already in the works.”

    Then Donald Trump took the mic again and quipped that he has no idea what the First Lady is talking about.

    “Well, I just heard about that for the first time,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.

    “The only thing I can tell you — I know one thing for sure, Mr. Speaker — it’s going to be great for children,” he added. “I don’t know what it is she’s doing, but it’s going to be great for children.”

    So clothing and décor choices aside, the person making things weird on Thursday night was really Donald, not Melania. But don’t feel too bad for our First Lady. She (or someone on her social-media team) got the president back by posting this video. Initially, it looks like Melania is helping her decrepit husband as he slowly struggles to get down the stairs.

    Other videos show that Trump had no difficulty descending the stairs. The clip posted by the First Lady’s office looks off because the video is in slow-motion but the audio is normal speed. Maybe Melania’s team was just trying to be artsy, but it’s an odd thing to post when people are chattering about the president’s mysterious health issues and a (fake) photo of Trump using a walker is going viral.

    Either way, hopefully the Trumps can work out their issues and Be Best this Chrismas (whatever that means).

  • Trump awards medals to the Kennedy Center honorees in an Oval Office ceremony

    WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday presented the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees with their medals during a ceremony in the Oval Office, hailing the slate of artists he was deeply involved in choosing as “perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class” ever assembled.

    This year’s recipients are actor Sylvester Stallone, singers Gloria Gaynor and George Strait, the rock band Kiss and actor-singer Michael Crawford.

    Trump said they are a group of “incredible people” who represent the “very best in American arts and culture” and that, “I know most of them and I’ve been a fan of all of them.”

    “This is a group of icons whose work and accomplishments have inspired, uplifted and unified millions and millions of Americans,” said a tuxedo-clad Trump. “This is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center Honorees ever assembled.”

    Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center

    Trump ignored the Kennedy Center and its premier awards program during his first term as president. But the Republican has instituted a series of changes since returning to office in January, most notably ousting its board of trustees and replacing them with GOP supporters who voted him in as chairman of the board.

    Trump also has criticized the center’s programming and its physical appearance, and has vowed to overhaul both.

    The president placed around each honoree’s neck a new medal that was designed, created and donated by jeweler Tiffany & Co., according to the Kennedy Center and Trump.

    It’s a gold disc etched on one side with the Kennedy Center’s image and rainbow colors. The honoree’s name appears on the reverse side with the date of the ceremony. The medallion hangs from a navy blue ribbon and replaces a large rainbow ribbon decorated with three gold plates that rested on the honoree’s shoulders and chest and had been used since the first honors program in 1978.

    Trump honors the honorees

    Strait, wearing a cowboy hat, was first to receive his medal. When the country singer started to take off the hat, Trump said, “If you want to leave it on, you can. I think we can get it through.” But Strait took it off.

    The president said Crawford was a “great star of Broadway” for his lead role in the long-running “Phantom of the Opera.” Of Gaynor, he said, “We have the disco queen, and she was indeed, and nobody did it like Gloria Gaynor.”

    Trump was effusive about his friend Stallone, calling him a “wonderful” and “spectacular” person and “one of the true, great movie stars” and “one of the great legends.”

    Kiss is an “incredible rock band,” he said.

    Songs by honorees Gaynor and Kiss played in the Rose Garden just outside the Oval Office as members of the White House press corps waited nearby for Trump to begin the ceremony.

    The president said in August that he was “about 98% involved” in choosing the 2025 honorees when he personally announced them at the Kennedy Center, the first slate chosen under his leadership. The honorees traditionally had been announced by press release.

    It was unclear how they were chosen. Before Trump, it fell to a bipartisan selection committee.

    “These are among the greatest artists, actors and performers of their generation. The greatest that we’ve seen,” Trump said. “We can hardly imagine the country music phenomena without its king of country, or American disco without its first lady, or Broadway without its phantom — and that was a phantom, let me tell you — or rock and roll without its hottest band in the world, and that’s what they are, or Hollywood without one of its greatest visionaries.”

    “Each of you has made an indelible mark on American life and together you have defined entire genres and set new standards for the performing arts,” Trump said.

    Trump also attended an annual State Department dinner for the honorees on Saturday. In years past, the honorees received their medallions there but Trump moved that to the White House.

    Trump said during pre-dinner remarks that the honorees are more than celebrities.

    “It gives me tremendous pleasure to congratulate them once again and say thank you for your incredible career,” he said. “Thank you for gracing us with this wisdom and just genius that you have.”

    Trump to host the Kennedy Center Honors

    Meanwhile, the glitzy Kennedy Center Honors program and its series of tribute speeches and performances for each recipient is set to be taped on Sunday at the performing arts center for broadcast later in December on CBS and Paramount+. Trump is to attend the program for the first time as president, accompanied by his wife, first lady Melania Trump.

    The president said in August that he had agreed to host the show. At dinner Saturday, he said he was doing so “at the request of a certain television network.” Trump predicted that the broadcast would garner its highest ratings ever as a result. No president has ever been the host.

    At the White House, Trump said he looked forward to Sunday’s celebration.

    “It’s going to be something that I believe, and I’m going to make a prediction: This will be the highest-rated show that they’ve ever done and they’ve gotten some pretty good ratings, but there’s nothing like what’s going to happen tomorrow night,” Trump said.

    The president also swiped at late-night TV show host Jimmy Kimmel, whose program was briefly suspended earlier this year by ABC following criticism of his comments related to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September.

    Kimmel and Trump are sharp critics of each other, with the president regularly deriding Kimmel’s talent as a host. Kimmel has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Academy Award multiple times.

    Trump said he should be able to outdo Kimmel.

    “I’ve watched some of the people that host. Jimmy Kimmel was horrible,” Trump said. “If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president.”

    First Lady Melania Trump has launched her own production company.

    Announced on Trump’s official social media channels on Friday, the First Lady shared that she has launched Muse Films. The announcement comes ahead of the release of the Amazon MGM Studios feature documentary about her, Melania.

    “PRESENTING: MUSE FILMS My new production company,” Trump wrote alongside a video that showcased the company’s logo. “MELANIA, the film, exclusively in theaters worldwide on January 30th, 2026.”

    Muse was reportedly the Secret Service code name for Trump during President Donald Trump’s first term in office.

    The Melania doc from director Brett Ratner — his first film since he was accused of sexual misconduct and harassment — has been produced with Trump’s participation. The film will later be accompanied by a three-part docuseries.

    “Melania offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself,” the official logline describes of the doc. “Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition and re-enters public life with her family. With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations and never-before-seen environments, Melania showcases Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles.”

    Amazon will release the film exclusively in theaters in the U.S. and select territories overseas on Jan. 30, 2026.

    Trump is serving as an executive producer on the doc, along with Fernando Sulichin, who produced Oliver Stone’s Snowden and Sean Penn’s Flag Day.

    Michelle Obama had a kitchen garden, Nancy Reagan had “Just Say No.” Melania Trump has a vanity shingle. The FLOTUS announced her new production company, Muse Films, on social media Black Friday. She’s just the latest political figure to go Hollywood. Biden signed with CAA after leaving office, and the Obamas had their Netflix overall deal in 2021. But Melania isn’t waiting until her husband’s out of office to get this ball rolling. The company takes its name from Melania Trump’s secret service code name during the first Trump admin. Presumably she has a new one now.

    The first film released by Muse will be the documentary Melania. The film depicts the 20 days before Trump’s second inauguration. Directed by Brett Ratner of all people, Melania comes to theaters and Amazon Prime Video in 2026. Amazon paid $40 million for the privilege of streaming the film on their platform.

    It’s possible Muse will be involved in the newly announced (presidentially-mandated?) Rush Hour 4. Paramount has agreed to distribute RH4 after Donald Trump personally requested a revival of the franchise, per Semafor. Melania is Ratner’s first feature film since 2014’s Hercules. In 2017, he was accused of sexual misconduct by six women, including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. Variety reports that many distributors didn’t want to touch Rush Hour 4 due to Ratner’s involvement.

    President Trump and others are responding to the surprising news that Marjorie Taylor Greene is stepping down from her role in Congress. The representative made her announcement on Friday night on social media.

    ATLANTA – Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will resign from Congress early next year, a decision that stunned political observers and drew swift reaction from President Donald Trump.

    What we know:

    Greene, a high-profile Republican from Georgia, announced late Friday that her last day in office will be Jan. 5. In a video message, she said she does not want her district to “endure a hurtful and hateful primary” after Trump withdrew his support and backed a challenger against her for next year’s race.

    “This president that we all fought for dumped tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me and the Georgia Republican Party,” Greene said, adding that the situation contributed to her decision to step aside.

    Trump responds 

    What they’re saying:

    Trump told ABC News the resignation was “great news for the country.” The two have been locked in a public feud in recent months, with Greene openly clashing with conservatives over her push to release the Epstein files and Trump publicly cutting ties with her about a week ago.

    The president also claimed on Truth Social that Marjorie “Traitor” Brown went BAD when he refused to return her “never ending barrage of phone calls.” However, he did thank her for her service to “our country.”

    MAGA activist Laura Loomer is celebrating Greene’s announcement, claiming she finally “LOOMERED” the congresswoman. She also accused the congresswoman of insider trading and claimed that she fired her Deputy Chief of Staff Nick Dyer because he wouldn’t help her cover up her stock trades. 

    Following Trump’s response, MTG posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that she believed in the American people and that there are “no leaders that will save this country.”

    The other side:

    Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon issued a statement acknowledging Greene’s departure and praising her tenure. “Her legacy as a bold voice for the grassroots will endure,” he said. “She entered Congress as a political outsider and never backed down from defending the forgotten men and women of our state.”

    Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who was a recent ally in the fight for the release of the Epstein files, posted on X that he is “sad for our country.” After Trump said that Greene’s resignation was “great news,” Massie also said “No, this is not great news for our country.”

    As of Friday morning, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has not issued a statement about Greene’s announcement. 

    Greene claims no plans for future

    What’s next:

    Greene said she plans to “go back to the people she loves” and denied that her resignation is part of a larger political strategy, saying there is “no 4D chess move” behind it. She did not reveal whether she intends to pursue another office or remain in public life.

    However, many people believe that Greene does have plans for the future and quit because she is “playing the long game.”

    Others seem to believe she may end up on CNN.

    In her first joint visit with Second Lady Usha Vance, First Lady Melania Trump met with troops and military families, praising the Marine Corps’ 250 years of service while warning that artificial intelligence (AI) will redefine modern warfare and America’s defense.

    In her Wednesday remarks at Marine Corps Air Station New River, Mrs. Trump emphasized AI’s role in her husband’s administration as a pillar of American defense strategy.

    “Technology is changing the art of war,” Trump said. “Predictably, AI will alter war more profoundly than any technology since nuclear weapons.”

    The First Lady’s remarks come as the Trump administration expands its focus on AI. The president posted to Truth Social earlier this week, saying, “We MUST have one Federal Standard instead of a patchwork of 50 State Regulatory Regimes.”

    “Artificial intelligence is propelling America’s military into a new era,” Trump said. “We are moving from human operators to human overseers – fast. The shift from soldiers to machines is already underway: autonomous helicopters, swarming drones, and recon aircraft are here now. Fighter-less jets and autonomous bombers are on the way.”

    The First Lady was introduced by Second Lady and Marine Corps spouse Usha Vance, who greeted the Marines by relaying a “Happy birthday” message from Vice President JD Vance. The Marine Corps birthday is Nov. 10.

Trump hugged a shy student in a sweet moment caught on camera in a first-grade class where kids read aloud and joined in a lively game of “Heads Up,” wearing a matching notecard on her head.

    “Don’t be shy,” the First Lady said before embracing the boy who seemed nervous to meet her.

    The First Lady concluded her remarks with heartfelt thanks to service members and their families.

    “To every Service Member — thank you for standing watch so others can celebrate in peace. And to every military spouse and child — thank you for your strength and love,” Trump said. “You serve our country, too.”

  • These are the 37 donors helping pay for Trump’s $300 million White House ballroom

    WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says his $300 million White House ballroom will be paid for “100% by me and some friends of mine.”

    The White House released a list of 37 donors, including crypto billionaires, charitable organizations, sports team owners, powerful financiers, tech and tobacco giants, media companies, longtime supporters of Republican causes and several of the president’s neighbors in Palm Beach, Florida.

    It’s incomplete. Among others, the list doesn’t include Carrier Group, which offered to donate an HVAC system for the ballroom, and artificial intelligence chipmaker Nvidia, whose CEO, Jensen Huang, publicly discussed its donation.

    The White House hasn’t said how much each donor is giving, and almost none was willing to divulge that. Very few commented on their contributions when contacted by The Associated Press.

    A senior White House official said the list has grown since it was first released in October, but some companies don’t want to be publicly named until required to do so by financial disclosure regulations. No foreign individuals or entities were among the donors, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details that haven’t been made public.

    Here’s a look at the divulged donors:

    Tech giants (8):

    Amazon Background: Trump was once highly critical of company founder Jeff Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post, but has been much less so lately. Amazon donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, an event attended by Bezos. Its video streaming service paid $40 million to license a documentary about first lady Melania Trump. Its cloud-based computing operation, Amazon Web Services, is a major government contractor.

    Apple Background: After an up-and-down relationship during Trump’s first term, CEO Tim Cook has sought to improve his standing with the president this time. Before returning to the White House, Trump hosted Cook at his Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, and said he had spoken with Cook about the company’s long-running tax battles with the European Union. Cook also donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund. In the spring, Trump threatened the computing giant with tariffs after Apple announced plans to build manufacturing facilities in India. In August, Cook presented the president with a customized glass plaque with a gold base as the CEO announced plans to bring Apple’s total investment commitment in U.S. manufacturing over four years to $600 billion.

    Google Background: During his first term, Trump’s administration sued Google for antitrust violations. While a candidate last year, Trump suggested he might seek to break up the search engine behemoth. Once Trump won the election, Google donated $1 million to his inauguration, and its CEO, Sundar Pichai, joined other major tech executives in attending the ceremony. Google’s subsidiary, YouTube, agreed in September to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit with Trump after it suspended his account following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. According to court filings, $22 million of that went to the Trust for the National Mall, which can help pay for ballroom construction.

    HP Background: An original Silicon Valley stalwart, the company donated to Trump’s inaugural fund. HP ‘s CEO, Enrique Lores, participated in a White House roundtable event in September. Lores also previously met with President Joe Biden at the White House on multiple occasions as top CEOs endorsed that administration’s economic plans.

    Meta Background: Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg had been critical of Trump going back to 2016, and Facebook suspended Trump for years after the Jan. 6 insurrection. This time around, Meta contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, and Zuckerberg attended.

    Micron Technology Background: The producer of advanced memory computer chips announced an April 2024 agreement with the Biden administration to provide $6.1 billion in government support for Micron to make chips domestically. Then, in June, Micron pledged $200 billion for U.S. memory chip manufacturing expansion under Trump. But at least $120 billion of that involved holdovers first announced during Biden’s administration.

    Microsoft Background: The company donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, twice what it spent for Biden’s or for Trump’s first inauguration. CEO Satya Nadella has also met with Trump numerous times, as Microsoft has supported the administration’s relaxation of regulations on artificial intelligence. He met previously with Biden, too. Trump has called for Microsoft’s president of global affairs, Lisa Monaco, to be fired because she was a deputy attorney general under Biden when the Justice Department led several investigations against Trump.

    Palantir Technologies Background: Co-founded by billionaire libertarian Peter Thiel, the firm concentrates on artificial intelligence and machine learning. It has seen profits soar thanks to lucrative defense and other federal contracts.

    Crypto (5):

    Coinbase Background: The major cryptocurrency exchange was founded by Brian Armstrong, a top donor to a political action committee that helped Trump and other pro-crypto candidates in 2024. Armstrong attended the first crypto summit at the White House in March. Coinbase also hired Trump’s co-campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, to its Global Advisory Council.

    Ripple Background: In March, the Securities and Exchange Commission dropped a lawsuit filed during Trump’s first term, which accused the company of violating securities laws by selling XRP crypto coins without a securities registration. Biden’s SEC sued Gemini for selling unregistered securities, but the case has been paused under Trump.

    Caterpillar Background: The equipment maker ‘s PAC has donated to candidates from both parties, but given more to Republicans. It has also said publicly that Trump’s tariffs, some of which the administration has now eased, could increase its costs and hurt earnings.

    NextEra Energy Background: NextEra is the world’s largest electric utility holding company. Trump says he’ll work to ensure tech giants can secure their own sources of electricity to power data centers, especially as they expand energy-hogging artificial intelligence operations. Google recently entered into an agreement to buy power from a shuttered nuclear power plant in Iowa owned by NextEra, which the company plans to bring back online in 2029.

    Paolo Tiramani Background: An American industrial designer who has donated to Trump’s political campaigns. Tiramani, with his son, runs BOXABL, a firm specializing in modular, prefabricated homes.

    Union Pacific Background: Trump has endorsed the company’s proposed $85 billion acquisition of Norfolk Southern, which would be the largest-ever rail merger. It also will be up to the president to appoint two more Republican members of the Surface Transportation Board, who will ultimately decide whether to approve the merger. In August, Trump fired one of the two Democratic members of the board.

    Adelson Family Foundation Background: Founded to strengthen the state of Israel and the Jewish people, the foundation was created by Miriam Adelson, the majority owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, close Trump ally and longtime GOP megadonor.     Betty Wold Johnson Foundation Background: Based in Palm Beach, the foundation supports health, arts and culture initiatives, as well as environmental and educational programs. It’s named in honor of the mother of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, who served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Kingdom during his first term.

    Laura & Isaac Perlmutter Foundation Background: The nonprofit based in Lake Worth Beach, near Palm Beach, focuses on promoting health care, social justice, the arts and community initiatives. Isaac is an Israeli American businessman and financier and former chair of Marvel Entertainment. He and his wife have donated to Trump’s presidential campaigns and affiliated PACs.

    Benjamin Leon Jr. Background: The Cuban American founder of Miami-based Leon Medical Centers is Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to Spain.

    Kelly Loeffler and Jeffrey Sprecher Background: A former Republican senator from Georgia, Loeffler heads Trump’s Small Business Administration.     Communications/entertainment (3):

    Comcast Background: The mass media and telecom conglomerate has often been criticized by Trump, including in April, when the president posted that Comcast was a “disgrace to the integrity of broadcasting.” The company owns NBC and is spinning off MSNBC. It could be interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Discover, and that would leave Comcast looking for government approval.

    Hard Rock International Background: A Florida-based gaming and tourism concern owned by the Seminole Tribe, the company operates a number of casinos, including the former Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Trump has for decades criticized federal exemptions allowing tribes to operate casinos.

    T-Mobile Background: The wireless carrier is indirectly linked to Trump Mobile, which the president’s family controls and offers gold phones and cell service in a licensing deal. Trump Mobile uses Liberty Mobile Wireless, a small, Florida-based network that T-Mobile says runs its operations on T-Mobile’s network. T-Mobile says that is unrelated to its decision to donate to Trump’s ballroom, which it says is meant to “restore and enrich the historic landmarks that define our nation’s capital.”

    Big Tobacco (2):

    Altria Group Background: The tobacco giant controls Philip Morris USA, maker of Marlboro. It has pressed for federal crackdowns on counterfeit and illegal vaping products. The company donated $50,000 to Trump’s inauguration.

    Reynolds American Background: With brands including Lucky Strike and Camel, the company has been active in lobbying to steer the Trump administration away from a Biden-proposed ban on menthol cigarettes.

    Defense/national security (2):

    Booz Allen Hamilton Background: A major defense and national security technology firm with extensive government contracts, it paid fines to settle lawsuits with the Justice Department under Biden. Booz Allen Hamilton agreed to pay more than $377 million in 2023 to settle allegations that it improperly billing costs to its government contracts. In January, it paid nearly $16 million to settle allegations that it submitted fraudulent claims in connection with government contracts.

    Lockheed Martin Corporation Background: The massive defense contractor has huge government contracts. It said in a statement that it “is grateful for the opportunity to help bring the President’s vision to reality and make this addition to the People’s House.”

    Stefan E. Brodie Background: A biotech entrepreneur and co-founder of the chemical manufacturing company Purolite, Brodie and his family donated to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and affiliated committees. Brodie and his brother, Donald, were convicted in 2002 of circumventing U.S. sanctions on Cuba.

    Charles and Marissa Cascarilla Background: Charles Cascarilla is co‑founder of the blockchain firm Paxos. He and his wife are philanthropists who have advocated for financial technology sector deregulation.

    J. Pepe and Emilia Fanjul Background: Longtime Republican donors and Palm Beach residents, the couple controls U.S. sugar refining interests that includes the Domino brand.

    Harold Hamm Background: The billionaire oil tycoon and pioneer of hydraulic fracturing heads the oil producer Continental Resources. He’s praised the Trump administration for aggressively moving to purchase oil to replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve stockpile.

    Stephen A. Schwarzman Background: A Palm Beach resident and chair and CEO of the Blackstone Group, a global private equity firm he helped establish in 1985. Schwarzman has donated to Trump and his PACs previously and led his first-term President’s Strategic and Policy Forum.

    Konstantin Sokolov Background: Born in Russia, he immigrated to the U.S. and now heads the Chicago-based private equity firm IJS Investments. Sokolov has donated to many educational and charitable causes in the past, and to Trump’s political campaigns.

    Public tours of the White House will resume in early December amid ongoing construction for a new ballroom.

    The White House says it will resume public tours starting on Dec. 2.

    Tours of the People’s House paused “indefinitely” in August, in preparation for the construction of President Donald Trump’s new ballroom.

    The East Wing, which was demolished last month as part of the construction process, has historically been the spot where visitors enter the building for public tours.

    In light of the renovation works, the upcoming tours will now lead visitors through “an updated route,” according to a news release.

    All December tours will spotlight first lady Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations on the State Floor, per the release.

    Congressional offices may once again submit constituent tour requests on Monday.

    Tour availabilities for December will open 30 days ahead of each potential tour date, while tour availabilities for January 2026 should be made available to congressional offices at some point next month.

  • Melania Trump Memecoin Sparks Lawsuit Over Alleged Scam

    When the Melania token launched in January, Donald Trump’s supporters and speculative crypto investors were quick to hop on board, quickly taking the memecoin to an all-time high of $13.73 and a market cap over $2 billion. Today, the token trades for less than a dime and its market cap is about $84.8 million. A lawsuit alleges the backers of that coin launched it as part of a fraud campaign meant to enrich only themselves.

    The accusation was made Tuesday in an amended complaint to a class action suit against Benjamin Chow, co-founder of Meteora (a crypto exchange), and Hayden Davis, Gideon Davis, and Charles Thomas Davis of venture capital firm Kelsier Labs, in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York. The defendants are accused of running a massive pump and dump scheme with at least 15 crypto coins, including $MELANIA.

    The suit alleges Melania Trump was used as “window dressing for a crime engineered by Meteora and Kelsier.”

    “Neither Melania Trump nor her representatives knew the project was part of a systemic fraud, and they would not have agreed to any use of her name had they known the truth,” the suit reads.

    Neither the White House, Meteora, nor Kelsier Labs responded immediately to requests for comment about the lawsuit. We will update the article if they respond.

    Here’s what to know.

    What is the lawsuit alleging?

    The court filing alleges executives at Meteora and Kelsier, through a network of crypto wallets, held roughly one-third of the entire $MELANIA supply before the memecoin began trading publicly. They then allegedly began actively promoting it with paid promotions, influencer posts, and other events. The “official” label on the token further stoked public interest, the suit says.

    “In truth, the insiders had already cornered the market before a single public buyer could act,” the suit reads. “The use of the Melania name completed the illusion. The branding suggested oversight and endorsement by a prominent public figure, neutralizing investor skepticism. In this way, the enterprise weaponized fame to disarm diligence.”

    Within hours, the $MELANIA token boasted a market cap of tens of millions of dollars. The suit alleges the defendants sold off tokens as the price rose, making millions of dollars in profit within hours.

    The defendants are accused of running a similar play with several other tokens. “$MELANIA’s story, though cloaked in celebrity glamour, was just another chapter in a single, unbroken enterprise designed to extract value under the pretense of innovation and credibility,” the filing reads.

    Are these criminal charges?

    No. The suit is a civil class action suit brought on behalf of investors. To date, there have been no criminal charges brought against any of the defendants. There has also been no action filed against them by the Securities and Exchange Commission or Justice Department, both of which remain closed due to the ongoing government shutdown.

    Is the Melania Trump memecoin still being traded?

    Technically, it is. But because the token has lost 99 percent of its value, there aren’t a lot of investors paying much attention to it these days.

    Is Melania Trump being sued?

    No. Although celebrities such as Linday Lohan or Jake Paul have been sued for promoting cryptocurrencies (for not disclosing they were being paid to do so), the filing is very direct in clearing up any questions about the first lady’s possible involvement in an alleged rug pull. “Melania Trump’s team, to the extent it granted any permission, did so without knowledge of the fraud, the insider rigging, or the deceptive launch mechanics,” reads the suit. “Had they been aware that the project was part of a coordinated criminal scheme, they would have rescinded any consent immediately.”

    Trump’s involvement is different than that of celebrities such as Linday Lohan or Jake Paul, who were sued for promoting cryptocurrencies without disclosing they were being paid to do so.

    The Trump family, however, has been criticized for its deep involvement in the crypto world, which some have called a conflict of interest, given Donald Trump’s influence. The Trump family is estimated to have made more than $1 billion from crypto ventures since Trump took office in January.

    Will Melania Trump memecoin investors receive some sort of compensation?

    That remains to be seen. The case seeks an order compelling the defendants to hand over all of the money gained through the launch of the $MELANIA and other tokens along with compensatory and statutory damages. If the defendants settle or are found liable, though, it’s unknown much that will amount to—or what will be left for investors after legal fees.

    The finance magazine reported that Barron received 10% earnings since the company earned over $1.5 billion since its inception. Barron’s share, after taxes, reportedly comes out to around $38 million.     Melania Trump also allegedly fought hard in her prenup with Donald Trump to ensure her son get a better inheritance, according to a biography, The Art of Her Deal.

    A source told Page Six that Donald and Melania Trump’s only son held the date at the Fifth Avenue building bearing his name for “security reasons.” This meant that residents of the building were unable to access the floor, which “wreaked havoc” on the building, according to The Independent. The identity of his date and the youngest Trump’s relationship status are both unknown. Vanity Fair has reached out to the White House for comment.

    Last year, while appearing on the PBD Podcast, Donald Trump said that Barron did not have a girlfriend. “I’m not sure he’s there yet,” Trump said on the podcast. “I don’t think he’s had a girlfriend yet. He doesn’t mind being alone, but he’s somebody that gets along with people.”

    Although the youngest Trump attends the NYU Stern School of Business, he is currently living at the White House while studying at NYU’s campus in Washington, DC. Per the university’s website, each semester NYU’s DC campus accepts up to 120 students who are interested in pursuing subjects such as politics, public policy, history, economics, and journalism.

    When Barron was a freshman in Manhattan, sources told Vanity Fair that the six-foot-seven Trump son reportedly traveled by motorcade and attended classes flanked by Secret Service. A peer said they once asked the incredibly tall Barron if he wanted to play basketball. While interested, Barron declined the invitation because “he wasn’t really allowed to do stuff,” the anonymous source said.

    “He’s sort of like an oddity on campus,” Kaya Walker, the former president of NYU College Republicans, told Vanity Fair. “He goes to class, he goes home.”

    Now he’s apparently going on dates—and apparently investing in cryptocurrency. According to Forbes, Barron’s fortune has increased by $80 million in recent months and now totals $150 million, dwarfing Melania’s reported net worth of $20 million. His investments earned him two billion dollars, out of the three billion in profits he made over the year. Jumping 70%, his fortune now stands at $7.3 billion. The Republican moves up 118 places in the Forbes 400 ranking (listing the richest men in America) to the 201st position.

    For her part, Melania has a wallet worth $20 million, which has grown thanks to “classic means for a First Lady (books, conferences, documentaries),” the media outlet notes. Not to be left unmoved by the promise of cryptocurrency, she has launched her own meme coin, $MELANIA, a speculative token whose aesthetic is based on a meme and whose value is decided by buyers. Listed on the stock exchange, its value is estimated at $200 million.

    Sixteen years ago, Miley Cyrus reminded us that life isn’t about the destination—it’s the climb. Perhaps that should have been President Donald Trump’s takeaway when an escalator stopped working at the United Nations General Assembly gathering on Tuesday. As Trump and his wife, Melania, headed up to the speaking floor, the stairway before them came to a halt, forcing the confused pair to walk up with their very own feet.

    Trump was visibly displeased with the faulty conveyance—but he didn’t express the full extent of his anger until the following day, when he called the incident “sabotage” in a post on Truth Social. “It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first. It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster,” he wrote on Wednesday, adding, “The people that did it should be arrested!”

    While at the UN, Trump also reportedly had issues with a teleprompter and audio quality during his speech. In his Truth Social post on Wednesday, he reproached the triple-mishap, deeming them “three very sinister events!”

    Before Trump lashed out, U.N. Secretary General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric explained the potential cause of #Escalatorgate in a statement on the United Nations’ website. (The memo’s subject line, in all seriousness, reads, “Note to correspondents: on UN escalators.”) Dujarric said a White House videographer who went up the escalator ahead of Trump appeared to have “inadvertently triggered” the built-in stop safety mechanism. As for the teleprompter, an anonymous U.N. official said someone from Trump’s team was operating it, AP News reported. But Trump still called for an investigation, which the U.N. says it will oblige with “full transparency.”

    In the time since Trump’s Truth Social post, the situation has only escalated. On Thursday’s edition of Mornings with Maria, a Fox Business broadcast, news anchor Maria Bartiromo and Florida Representative Greg Steube both went along with Trump’s allegations of sabotage. “It seems to be intentional,” Steube said. Bartiromo, contended that the stalled escalator constituted a safety hazard, saying that “The president being frozen there in one place makes him vulnerable”—though she didn’t identify a specific threat.

    The ongoing brouhaha brings to mind a similar incident: when Joe Biden’s brief stumble on some stairs in 2021 spawned widespread coverage (handwringing, punditry, debate over fitness), becoming a defining moment in certain media circuits. Or maybe Trump is smarting because he’s generally had positive experiences with escalators—particularly in 2015, when he kicked off his first presidential campaign by descending the mechanical stairs in Trump Tower. Back then, Trump famously turned a simple ride into a watershed moment. Melania recalled the triumph in her self-titled memoir: “He waved and gave two thumbs up before guiding me with his left hand to the escalator,” she wrote. “I stepped on in front of him, and down we went.”

The Princess of Wales and the First Lady of the United States met in the gardens of the Frogmore estate, near Windsor, for their first-ever joint outing. The two women accompanied young members of the Squirrels, a UK scouting group, for nature and craft activities. The watchword for this historic appearance? Casual, as evidenced by the outfits chosen by Kate and Melania: suede jackets, light-colored pants or long brown flared skirts. Their outdoor looks were far removed from the formal gowns of the state banquet held the day before with great ceremony. They were seen chatting with little interlocutors, aged four to six, and even got their hands dirty by helping them to draw pictures and observe garden insects.

    During the afternoon, Prince William’s wife revealed the surprisingly seasonal new passion of her youngest son, Prince Louis, aged seven: chestnuts. Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s little brother doesn’t seem to appreciate the nuts for their gustatory qualities, but rather for collecting. “We keep finding conkers in cupboards, in his bed—conkers everywhere!” his mother explained, using the British term for brown horse chestnuts. Kate added that Louis also puts the chestnuts in his miniature trucks to play with. In March, Kate and William revealed Louis’s sporting hobby at a meeting with former rugby players who had to give up their careers due to severe injuries: “Louis is six and he’s just started touch rugby, and George is 11 and he plays a bit more,” she said. “They do really enjoy it.” Prince William added. “At weekends we go from one competition to the next.”

    We also know that the youngest prince loves toasted marshmallows, which he enjoyed on his first official engagement with his family in May 2023. He also loves friendship bracelets, popularized by Taylor Swift, which he likes to steal from his sister Charlotte, a big fan of the singer. As for rhythm, his musical awakening seems to be going wonderfully well, if we are to believe his father’s recent declarations: “My youngest is learning the drums, which is why I spend most of my time with my fingers in my ears,” William humorously confided to Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, during a meeting last November.
