Meghan’s Business Takes Another Major Hit After ‘Slap in the Face’ From Netflix

The hits keep on coming for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s finances. Fans have noticed that the Duchess of Sussex has quietly deactivated her ShopMy Instagram page, which previously allowed her to earn commission through affiliate links directing users to clothing items she’s worn.

Meghan launched her ShopMy page in March 2025 timed to the premiere of the first season of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. However, less than a week after the premiere of the second season in August 2025, users discovered that Meghan’s collection of favorites had been removed from the account, leaving the page blank. “This curator has not yet added any collections,” the page now reads.

Meghan previously described the account as “a handpicked and curated collection of the things I love,” and noted that she was eligible to make commissions from any purchases made on the platform.

News of Meghan’s Instagram shop closing comes after royal expert Richard Eden told The Daily Mail that Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix deal—which is their second contract with the streaming company after their $100 million agreement in 2020—is a “slap in the face” compared to their first.

“I mean what Harry would want would be another deal he can boast to Oprah Winfrey about how much it’s worth — but it’s clear that’s not coming,” Eden said. “Let’s deal with the facts. Harry himself, in his interview with Oprah Winfrey, talked about how he needed money and he needed it quickly because of security and money being cut off from his father.”

Eden continued, “He said, ‘We sign these deals with Spotify and Netflix,’ clearly implying that they were worth a fortune. This is none of a kind from everything I have heard. It is just a first-look deal, so the only money they will receive is if the programmes are commissioned.”

Eden went on to add about how much of a “downgrade” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix deal is compared to their first. “By all accounts, it is a big downgrade,” Eden said. “It remains to be seen how much money they make from it.”

A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed to Express that the couple received an upfront fee from Netflix but declined to share the exact amount, citing “commercially confidential contractual agreements.”

Meghan Markle might have done a big no-no to Prince Harry when it comes to their children. The Duke of Sussex is pretty protective of his children, so when Meghan posted a photo of them on set of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, some royal correspondents found the action to be odd.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun that Meghan posting a glimpse of their children, Archie 5, and Lilibet, 3, might have ticked off her husband. “He [Prince Harry] ought to be extremely annoyed. Obviously, I don’t know what he thinks, but I think he does what he’s told probably,” he said. “You know, what worries me much more, to be quite honest, is what the children themselves are going to think when they get a little bit older and they realise how they’ve been exploited.”

Allegedly, Harry has very strong feelings when it comes to protecting their children. A source told PEOPLE: “Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats. He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm.”

Usually, Meghan has posted photos of their children with their faces blurred out, or in poses where their face is unseen.

This isn’t the first time that Harry was allegedly peeved because of Meghan’s Netflix show. During an episode, Meghan reveals during a conversation with guest Tan France that Harry was actually the one who first said “I love you” between the two of them. And according to RadarOnline, Harry is not pleased, with the outlet saying the revelation made him “feel less of a man.”

“Harry is seething,” and not just that, “He feels Meghan has made him look weak by boasting he was the first one to drop the love bomb.” The source went on to add, “For a man who has spent his life trying to project strength, it stings,” explaining that, “He told friends it makes him feel less of a man.”

“Meghan thought it was sweet to share,” another source said. “But Harry believes their private moments are being turned into entertainment.”

Yet another insider explained, “He’s proud of his relationship, but he doesn’t want to be cast as the lovestruck puppy.” The source even added, “He’s been venting that Meghan’s oversharing makes him feel emasculated,” and said, “Moments like this cut deep. He wants to be seen as strong, not the man who fell harder and faster.”

With Love, Meghan Didn’t Crack Netflix’s Top 10 List. Does the Streamer Care?

On August 26, Meghan Markle returned to Netflix with another eight episodes of her lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. Though the show garnered less negative attention this season, it was also greeted with fewer viewers. While season two debuted before the end of the month, it didn’t make the list of Netflix’s top 10 shows in August. (Forbes points out that this means the series likely got fewer than 2.1 million viewers in its first week.) By contrast, season one’s March premiere netted about 2.6 million viewers in its first week—landing just inside the top 10 list.

This is not great news for Meghan; her husband, Prince Harry; and their production company, Archewell. But it’s not necessarily a tragedy, either. In early August, Netflix announced that it would continue to work with Archewell—though unlike its first partnership with Meghan and Harry, the new one is a first-look agreement rather than an exclusive, overall deal. And while Netflix hasn’t announced whether With Love, Meghan will return for a third season, it did share that a With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration special will air in December. (Vanity Fair has reached out to representatives for Netflix and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.)

Other Archewell productions—a documentary short called Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within and Meet Me at the Lake, a romance based on Carley Fortune’s 2023 novel—are still in active development. The streamer also still has a stake in As Ever, the lifestyle company Meghan launched alongside the show this spring. As Ever has continued to release new products seasonally, including a new orange marmalade featured in season two.

Meghan and Harry’s foray into television began five years ago with that initial massive overall deal. Though Harry would later say that they hadn’t ever planned on starting a production company, the deal came about eight months after Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said in a public interview that he would be interested in signing the pair.

When their six-episode docuseries Harry & Meghan premiered in December 2022, it got a staggering 23.4 million views in its first week; to this day, it remains Netflix’s most-watched documentary. But most of Archewell’s productions have drawn smaller audiences. Their first documentary, Live to Lead, aired just weeks after Harry & Meghan—and though it included one of the final interviews with late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it failed to get much attention. In 2023, they returned with Heart of Invictus, a look at wounded servicemembers who competed in the Invictus Games, and Polo followed in December 2024.

Netflix hasn’t shared any specifics about their initial deal with the Sussexes, though in January 2025, a spokesperson told Vanity Fair it was “not correct” that the pair had gotten $100 million, a widely reported figure. In July, Page Six reported that signing a new first-look deal would likely mean less money upfront for the couple. But Harry and Meghan aren’t alone: other high-profile Netflix talent like Michelle and Barack Obama, who have a deal with the streamer through their Higher Ground Productions, have also been moved from lucrative overall deals to less pricy first-look deals. Evidently, things have changed since the heady days of Peak TV.

If With Love, Meghan does return for another season, it’s at least sure to get plenty of earned media in the form of backhanded compliments from the British press. This week, Sandi Toksvig, a former host of The Great British Bake-Off, got in on the fun. The show “looks like a great tribute to beige, which I think is nice,” the comedian said on Good Morning Britain Wednesday. She’s only one viewer—but at least someone’s watching.

Harry & Meghan Are Actually Considering Returning to Their ‘Senior Royal Duties’ as the Prince’s Relationship With Charles Takes a Dramatic Turn

Things between King Charles and Prince Harry have changed dramatically in the past few months. First, they were in the middle of a bitter feud, with the King not speaking to his youngest son and Harry getting news about his father’s health secondhand. Then, aides for the two met recently, signaling a reconciliation could be in the works. Now, the two are expected to finally meet again for the first time since February 2024.

But does that mean we could see Harry and Meghan back as working royals sometime soon? According to Kristen Meinzer, Prince Harry didn’t want to completely surrender his senior royal duties, and he would consider returning to the UK, at least part-time.

Meinzer told Daily Express US that, “Harry has repeatedly said that it was never his intention to completely surrender his senior royal duties.”

She added: “In a perfect world, he and Meghan would have been able to do what Edward and Sophie did early on in their marriage – pursue their own passions while also serving the crown.” Instead, what happened was that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle completely retreated from royal life and moved to the US.

This was Queen Elizabeth II’s decision, according to Meinzer. “But the Queen did not grant Harry and Meghan the same opportunity, nor did the institution treat the racism Meghan faced with the seriousness it warranted.”

She added, “But Charles is not his mother. And if he arranged for their duties to have both some flexibility and a great deal of safety, I think Harry and Meghan would certainly consider accepting the opportunity.”

The expert also spoke about the thorny issue of security and whether the Prince and his family would return to the U.K. “I think Harry would love to return to the UK, at least part-time,” she said. “He wants to spend time with his UK friends and family. He wants his wife and children to know and love his homeland.”

In fact, according to Meinzer, “That’s why he’s been trying so hard to reinstate the security that Charles took away. He wants to spend time there, but he wants to do so safely.”

Now, Prince Harry and King Charles are set to reunite in the U.K. The Duke of Sussex will be in London on Sept. 8, ironically the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, for the annual WellChild Awards. And according to The Mirror, there is “determination on both sides to make [a reunion] happen.”

“Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry,” the outlet said.

This new development comes months after Prince Harry publicly pleaded for a reconciliation with his estranged family in a BBC interview, “I would love reconciliation with my family,” he said, going on to add that, “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff [the Sussex family is entitled to in the U.K.], but it would be nice to reconcile.”

Whether that means he and Meghan will soon be working royals again, this upcoming reunion is a really great sign for a man and his son. We can’t deny that.

The Real Reason Meghan Isn’t Joining Harry on His Return to the UK After William & Kate’s Friends Dissed Her Brand

Prince Harry is likely to reunite with his father King Charles in the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex is reportedly planning to meet up with the King after 20 months without contact.

A source told The Mirror that the reconciliation is indeed happening between father and son in September. The Duke is slated to return to the UK on the third death anniversary of Queen Elizabeth for the WellChild Awards, a charity he has been patron of for 17 years. There is “determination on both sides to make [a reunion] happen,” the source said. “Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry,” the source said, saying that it’s “the right time to take that step” with “a simple face-to-face conversation between a father and son.”

The source continued, “This is not about grand gestures or set-piece meetings. … The priority is privacy and dignity, but also ensuring the door stays open for further dialogue.

The Sun reported that Meghan is “not expected” to join her husband on the trip. It would mark his first trip back to his home country after losing a public court battle to reinstate his public funded security with the Home Office. Harry always said the legal battle “mattered” more to him than anything else.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have indicated they don’t believe they’re safe in the U.K., with Harry saying when he lost his court case trying to get security reinstated, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”

On the family front, there’s still tension within the family. Prince William is reportedly not involved in the reunion. “As for Harry and William, though, any chance of reconciliation between them has been rejected out of hand,” the Mirror insider added.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of “My Mother and I,” claimed to Fox News Digital that William is having trouble taking that final step because of Meghan Markle. “The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan,” Seward said. A source told People that William and Harry are “on separate paths” with no communication between them. “The rift is very profound and very long-lasting,” Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, told the outlet. “It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes.”

To add to that, William and Kate’s friends refer to Markle’s brand, As Ever. A royal source told the Daily Mail that the rebrand of the company made friends of the couple give the brand a new nickname: “As If.”

Reportedly, the meaning behind “as if” is “as if it will take off.” One reportedly said, “It’s caused quite a bit of laughter within the group. WhatsApp messages have been going back and forth. It’s all very budget and rushed. Embarrassing, really.” There’s no confirmation on whether this is a name William and Kate also use. But time will tell if the royal family will ever be reunited fully.

Meghan Markle Finally Figures Out With Love, Meghan Is a Talk Show, Not a How-To Guide

Five months after Meghan Markle’s Netflix show With Love, Meghan first premiered, she’s back with another suite of eight episodes, in which she feels less like one of the most famous women in the world and more like a skilled talk show host. Though the food certainly looks good, the show seems to understand that the duchess’s activities—frying potato chips or pouring soap into silicon molds—work best as a display of her ability to keep a smile on as she’s doing something incredibly complex.

Earlier this year, Meghan’s critics complained that the show’s pace was slow and she didn’t exactly come across as a Martha Stewart–level talent in the kitchen. Now, her As Ever brand has gone through multiple drops, giving her a bit of credibility in the lifestyle space. In With Love, Meghan, she is most successful when she is putting the attention on others, on a field trip to watch olive oil production, or learning about seafood from a fishmonger.

In season two, the weather changes from Santa Barbara summer (an average daily temperature of 76 degrees) to winter (a still balmy 70 degrees), but the structure of each episode remains the same—a few crafts, a few unusually fancy gifts, a simple yet effective meal, and effusive praise. The alterations are simple but effective, with more attention paid to conversation and eye contact. Season one’s running theme was Meghan’s emphasis that viewers can recreate the crafts and cookery at home, but for season two, that refrain is mercifully dropped, though the activities are still fairly simple. She emphasizes that she is trying many of these recipes and crafts for the first time, supplying enthusiasm rather than expertise.

When Meghan married Prince Harry in 2018, her newfound mega-celebrity status gave her a paradoxical mystique. The media was tracking her every move, even when she wasn’t going anywhere. Her name was everywhere, and her stated desire for a more private life only seemed to heighten the public interest. After a spring publicity blitz and many, many hours of content, she has finally managed to puncture the myth that thrived when she wasn’t able to speak for herself, and it makes every word she says feel less risky. Back in January, her return to Instagram got minute-by-minute coverage, but now her posts feel less like an event and more like the average musings of a mother, business owner, and philanthropist. With Love, Meghan season two leans into that delightful mundanity.

The guest list includes fewer displays of her real-life friendships, though makeup artist Daniel Martin is a notable returning cohost. Other episodes also feature pilates instructor and longtime friend Heather Dorak, her charity collaborator José Andrés, and chef Clare Smyth, who catered her wedding reception in 2018. Instead, we see more Netflix talent, including David Chang, Christina Tosi, Tan France, Samin Nosrat, and personalities like model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen and podcaster Jay Shetty and his wife, cookbook author Radhi Devlukia.

This time around, the show is more explicit about the duchess’s thought process for welcoming guests she has never met. She starts with a dossier of their qualities and develops a series of gifts and activities with them in mind. Tosi, the founder of dessert mecca Milk Bar, is known for always wearing a scarf in her hair, so Meghan uses a marbling technique to tie-dye scarves and pocket squares for everyone to take home. France has two young sons and a love of spices, so she spends the episode finding and wrapping gifts for his family, including a vintage spice cellar for him to take home. Nosrat, author of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, is known for including references to her Iranian heritage in her flavor palette, so Meghan makes lavashak, an Iranian fruit leather that can be made from pomegranate and apples. “No one’s ever made this for me, other than my grandmother,” the chef says. “This is perfect—I can’t stop eating it.”

Because she has history with a few of the guests, she does supply a few dishier moments than ever before. Her husband’s quirks come up a few different times; with Andrés we learn that Harry isn’t a fan of lobster and that he said “I love you” first. Teigen and Meghan discuss the time they both spent as models at the game show Deal or No Deal, and the way they would all stand in a row for the application of fake eyelashes. Smyth reveals that she catered a private surprise dinner in an old chapel for the couple’s first anniversary back in 2019.

Meghan Markle is back with Season 2 of her Netflix series – and the royal family won’t be watching.

The claim was made by royal expert Kinsey Schofield of YouTube’s “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” on the eve of “With Love, Meghan” premiering Aug. 26.

“According to my sources, Season 2 is not even on the palace’s radar,” Schofield claimed to Fox News Digital. “It poses no impact on the core four: King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales… When it comes to something as trivial as Meghan Markle making bath salts, the royals have far bigger priorities.”

Schofield pointed out that friends of William and his wife, Kate Middleton, recently spoke to Bella magazine, claiming that the Duchess of Sussex’s latest ventures are “all very budget and rushed.”

“That sentiment aligns completely with what my sources tell me,” said Schofield. “There’s a sense of desperation… that the royal family simply cannot relate to… They won’t lose any sleep over the prospect of ‘With Love, Meghan.’ It won’t be on their calendars, and they certainly won’t be making her pasta or bath salts.”

On Aug. 11, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix partnership was extended with a multi-year, first-look deal for film and television projects through Archewell Productions.

Despite the success of the lifestyle series, which premiered in March, The Hollywood Reporter claimed the Netflix change mirrored the “downgrade” the Obamas experienced with the streamer and their Higher Ground banner.

“We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Meghan, 44, previously said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

British royals expert Hilary Fordwich claimed to Fox News Digital that the royals are said to be “relieved” that Meghan didn’t make any revelations about the royal family in Season 1. Therefore, there’s no reason for them to tune in.

“Senior royals have zero interest in watching Meghan Markle’s show,” Fordwich claimed. “It’s deemed irrelevant while it avoids nakedly commercializing their royal connections.”

“I doubt this is on the royal family’s radar of priorities, and it’s most definitely not a worry to ‘The Firm.’… The average person feels that ‘With Love, Meghan’ lacks a wow factor. I hear Netflix hopes to strike gold with an obvious big bucks series. A second Harry and Meghan docuseries or a documentary about Princess Diana ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death is on their wish list.”

Meghan, an American actress, became the Duchess of Sussex when she married the British prince, 40, in 2018. They stepped back as senior royals in 2020, citing the unbearable intrusions of the British princess and a lack of support from the palace. They went on to air their grievances in interviews, documentaries, as well as Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare.”

In the couple’s attempt to be financially independent in California, they signed a five-year $100 million deal with the streaming giant. Their five-part docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” detailed their struggles with royal life and offered an intimate look into their lives in California.

A special holiday episode of “With Love, Meghan” will air in December.

But Meghan isn’t the only royal that’s been cooking up something for the streaming giant.

“King Charles is collaborating with actor Idris Elba on a yet-to-be-titled documentary about The King’s Trust, the charity he founded in 1976, for Netflix,” Schofield pointed out.

“That makes it harder to fault Harry and Meghan for their own Netflix contracts. Of course, if the Sussexes continue producing negative content about the royal family, estrangement will persist. But if they avoid targeting the royals in future projects, it’s worth noting that the king is now working with the very same platform.”

While Meghan has been keeping busy bonding with celebrity chefs for the series, there have been loud whispers of a royal reconciliation.

In May, Harry told the BBC he wanted to reconcile with his family, but his father wouldn’t speak to him. His father, King Charles III, was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024.

“I would love reconciliation with my family,” said the prince. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

The Mail on Sunday reported that Harry’s aides had a private meeting on July 9 with the king’s communications secretary in London. Representatives for Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment at the time.

However, Schofield said that when it comes to the Sussexes holding back on more tell-alls, the damage is already done.

Chard agreed, noting that even with the Sussexes launching projects that don’t monetize their royal connections, “The Firm” remains cautious.

“The royal family’s mistrust of Prince Harry and especially Meghan Markle runs very deep,” Chard claimed. “They continue to be estranged from the royal family. Prince William, above everyone, knows his brother just too well and more than any other royal mistrusts Harry and Meghan… It’s a real rock and a hard place situation. The royal family refuses to feed the Sussexes with new royal material.”

“If the rumors around a possible documentary about Diana, which might involve the Sussexes, are true, that would certainly cause concern,” added royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. “It would commemorate 30 years since she died, yes, but will it also show how Harry and Meghan have to monetize their royal connections to survive in Hollywood? That’s if it’s true, of course.”

“If the Sussexes truly want peace, they should cease monetizing anything destructive about the royal family on the small and large screen, and in print,” he advised.

And the royal family does have one hope for the Sussexes from afar, said Schofield.

“The hope is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do find financial success away from airing their grievances,” she said. “The irritation lies in Meghan’s insistence on using her title commercially. Queen Elizabeth was firm that titles should not be tied to businesses, so this does little to soften the prospect of reconciliation.”

“[The couple] made it clear to the public that they’ve held back,” said Schofield. “Prince Harry admitted he cut significant passages from his memoir to protect his father and brother… And sadly, Penguin Random House, Netflix and Spotify have made it clear – secrets sell.”

Harry & Meghan Deal Is a ‘Slap in the Face’ as Netflix Gives Them 1 Condition to Get Paid—They ‘Need the Money’

For a while there, it seemed like Harry and Meghan would not get a new Netflix deal when their old one expired in September. But then they did sign a new Netflix deal, and their new one is said to work pretty much like the one President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama signed. It’s less a long-term deal and more a first-look type deal, which aligns more with the new Netflix strategy. But what exactly does that mean for them?

According to royal expert Richard Eden, “It’s definitely a slap in the face. What Harry would want would be another deal he could boast to Oprah Winfrey about—how much it’s worth.” Speaking on the Mail’s Palace Confidential, Eden said: “Harry himself, in his interview with Oprah Winfrey, talked about how he needed money and he needed it quickly because of security and money being cut off from his father.”

Eden even compared this new deal with the couple’s original deals with Spotify and Netflix, which, according to him, were “worth a fortune.” Suffice it to say that, to him, the new deal is pretty much peanuts in comparison and requires them to work so much harder to get paid.

But the new Netflix deal seems to be less about Harry and Meghan and more about the changing way of doing business for the streamer, which has transformed a lot of its longer-term deals into this type of deal lately and still continues doing business with a lot of different individuals. Proof positive that they are still interested in continuing to do business with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is the announcement of the new deal.

“We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Markle said in a statement about the new Netflix deal. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”

That’s right, not only did Netflix sign a new deal with Harry and Meghan, they expanded their collaboration to include Meghan’s As Ever brand. That means the brand “will continue expanding into new product categories with new items continuing to be released throughout the remainder of the year.” According to the Sun, the deal also means Netflix will continue to back Archewell Productions, with funding reportedly covering staffing and office costs. Pretty good deal for the Sussexes, all around.

Harry and Meghan’s collaboration with Netflix has produced With Love, Meghan, Polo, and the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan. Season 2 of With Love, Meghan, will premiere later this month, with a holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, set to premiere in December. On top of that, Archewell has two projects in the pipeline, Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, a documentary about children in the Masaka region of Uganda, and Meet Me at the Lake, a romance adaptation of the novel by Carley Fortune.

Prince Philip didn’t mince his words on his grandson’s big day.

Grant Harrold, King Charles’s former butler, claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh didn’t hold back after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said “I do” in 2018. In his upcoming memoir, “The Royal Butler,” the etiquette expert claimed he overheard “a few choice words” from Queen Elizabeth II’s husband.

“Once all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the royal family, filed out of the chapel,” Harrold wrote, according to an excerpt published by The Telegraph.

Archewell, which handles the offices for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, told Fox News Digital they had no comment.

Meghan, an American actress who starred in “Suits,” married the British prince in a ceremony that was held at St George’s Chapel. Both the queen, who died in 2022, and Philip, who passed away in 2021, were in attendance.

Several royal experts told Fox News Digital they weren’t surprised by the alleged remarks made by Philip.

“He was 96 years old at their wedding,” said British royals expert Hilary Fordwich. “He had just recovered from surgery, so he was likely in pain and tired. Anyone would not have been at their best, alone at his ripe age.”

“Prince Philip was infamous for his colorful language and, on occasion, inappropriate, offensive comments,” said British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard.

“His gaffes became the norm, many putting it down to his razor-sharp tongue, lack of inhibition and PC due to his older generation,” she shared. “On this particular occasion, Prince Philip was feeling groggy, tired and fed up. He’d had enough for the day. He didn’t have enough tact left in his tank.”

“It wasn’t a personal swipe at the Sussexes,” Chard added.

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner said he was all too familiar with Philip’s blistering words and no-nonsense approach to life.

“There are many expletives that could describe Philip, who was known for his outspoken views on anyone who would care to listen,” said Turner. “I used to be a royal photographer. Whenever I was given that task, I would check my life insurance, as he could be dangerous at times, especially when he was on his horse and carriage.”

“More than once, he would… full charge towards me,” he recalled. “Once I had to dive into a thorn bush to get out of his way, and he muttered a similar oath to me, even though I was doing his carriage championships a massive favor. In reality, he was my least popular royal to work with. He led his own life… So, swearing after the wedding is just par for a man who thought he could get away with his behavior.”

Philip spent more than seven decades supporting his wife, England’s longest-reigning monarch. She affectionately referred to him as her rock in public.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in 2020, citing the unbearable intrusions of the British press and a lack of support from the palace. They moved to California that year. The couple went on to air their grievances in interviews, documentaries, as well as Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare.”

In sit-downs leading up to the book’s publication, Harry accused members of the royal family of getting “into bed with the devil” to gain favorable tabloid coverage. He singled out Queen Camilla’s efforts to rehabilitate her image after her longtime affair with his father, the king. In the book, Harry also claimed that he and his brother begged their father not to marry Camilla.

Harrold admitted to The Telegraph that he was surprised by Harry’s words.

“[The family]… got on so well,” he told the outlet. “And that’s why I don’t understand what Harry’s said, I really don’t understand. Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together… The king used to do things to make [his sons] laugh and giggle.”

Harrold also noted that both Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, made sure to include Harry in their “little gang.”

“They involved him,” said Harrold. “William would be away, and Kate and Harry would be out doing stuff together. They’d go shopping together, they’d go to pubs together… I think when people say, ‘Oh, he was left out,’ he really wasn’t. But also, he was with [his then-girlfriend] Chelsy [Davy]. Chelsy was always around. And Chelsy and Kate got on really well.”

The brothers were “so close,” Harrold insisted about William and Harry.

“The banter was great,” he told the outlet. “They used to go around being silly with each other and winding each other up, jumping out at their dad from corners and making him laugh. It was just like a [normal] family.”

King Charles Forced Prince Harry to ‘Draw a Line’ With Meghan Markle After Reports the Monarch Doesn’t Know ‘How Much Longer’ He Has Left

King Charles and Prince Harry are awfully close to a royal reunion. However, there are a set of rules that the monarch set for his son in order for them to meet without conflict.

A royal insider told RadarOnline that Charles’ son has to keep mum about the royal family for them to reunite. “The King has never hidden his affection for both his sons, but he has also stressed that Harry cannot realistically expect a return while he persists with public criticism and constant interviews,” the source said. “What is needed is calm and restraint. If Harry can demonstrate that, there may be a path forward.”

Charles’ team reportedly stressed Harry must “draw a line” for his wife Meghan Markle to stop tarnishing the royal family. An aide said, “It has been made crystal clear to Harry by Charles, if he wants any chance of being welcomed back, he must stop attacking the family in public and ensure his wife avoids further controversy.”

A PR expert told Newsweek that Harry would need to display “consistent discipline” and avoid the “ugliness” of bombshell interviews. One of those interviews includes Prince Harry’s pleas to reunite with his father with the BBC. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”

However, one royal family member is beyond hesitant to reconcile. “The King wants to bring everyone together, but William feels especially let down by what was revealed in Spare,” the RadarOnline source said. “That will not be an easy wound to close.”

A counter report by Parade indicates concerns about King Charles’ health might actually end up bringing the brothers closer together. “King Charles really isn’t doing well,” the insider said about the King, adding that his health has been “deteriorating more.”

“It wouldn’t be surprising if William and Harry reconnected a bit more over this,” the source added. “This could be the thing that pushes it to happen.”

King Charles and Prince Harry’s senior aides held a secret meeting in July 2025. According to The Mail on Sunday, these talks in London were the first big step towards resolving the feud between father and son. “There’s a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years,” said a source. “There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.”

Prince Harry’s Makes a Discreet Tribute to Prince Philip In Honor of His WWII Service

On August 15, Prince Harry honored the memory of his grandfather, Prince Philip, on the 80th anniversary of the end of the war in the Pacific during World War II. The Duke of Sussex asked a friend to lay a wreath at the foot of the National Memorial Arboretum once the official ceremony was over and King Charles III and Queen Camilla had left, so as not to disrupt the course of the day. The royal couple had been present at the commemorations, and were seen to be very moved when a veteran stepped away from his speech to say a few comforting words to the sovereign, who was suffering from cancer.

The wreath was accompanied by a typed letter, topped by Prince Harry’s seal. In it, he saluted the “courage” and “resilience” of the “’Forgotten Army,” dedicating an entire paragraph to his grandfather, who died at the age of 99 in 2021.

“For me, this anniversary carries an added layer of meaning. My late grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, served in the Pacific campaign,” he wrote in his letter, as shared by GB News. “He spoke with quiet humility about those years, but I know how deeply he respected all who stood beside him in that theatre of war.”

Queen Elizabeth II’s husband joined the Royal Navy in 1939. After missions in the Mediterranean, he went to the Pacific. Second in command, he was on board a destroyer on a mission in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered on September 2, 1945.

“Today, as I think of him, I think also of each of you, of the shared hardships, the bonds forged, and the legacy you leave,” confided the former soldier. He concluded: “I am humbled by your example, proud of your service and dedication, and profoundly grateful for what you endured. Your story is part of our shared heritage, and it must never be forgotten.” The note was signed “Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.”

The 40-year-old Briton served ten years in the armed forces, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Inspired by his military background, in 2014 he created the Invictus Games, a sporting event for veterans and those wounded in war. His honorary military patronages were withdrawn and returned to his grandmother the Queen in in February 2021, one year after he and wife Meghan Markle relinquished their royal duties.

Prince Harry had already spoken of his admiration for his grandfather, “a seriously sharp wit,” who “could hold the attention of any room due to his charm,” as he wrote in a statement shared on the Archewell website after the announcement of his death. He was a “consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke,” and above all a beloved grandfather, “master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end,” he recalled.

Meghan Markle sparks reaction as former co-star shares behind-the-scenes photo

Meghan Markle‘s Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams has sent fans into a frenzy as he shared a previously unseen snap of the former actress on set.

Patrick, who played Meghan’s love interest, Mike Ross, to her character Rachel Zane on the US legal drama, posted the behind-the-scenes shots of his castmates following the release of a new episode from his podcast series.

The actor co-hosts Sidebar with Sarah Rafferty, who played legal secretary Donna Paulsen in Suits.

Suits ran for nine seasons, but Patrick and Meghan bid their farewells to the show in the seventh series.

Prince Harry says harms of social media have created an ‘epidemic’ for today’s youth

NEW YORK (AP) — Prince Harry said today’s youth is in the midst of an “epidemic” of anxiety, depression and social isolation due to negative experiences online, as he brought his campaign to help children and their parents navigate cyberspace to this week’s Clinton Global Initiative.

“These platforms are designed to create addiction,” Harry, 40, said in remarks Tuesday in New York City. “Young people are kept there by mindless, endless, numbing scrolling — being force-fed content that no child should ever be exposed to. This is not free will.”

Beyond supporting parents and youth throughout this advocacy, The Duke of Sussex stressed the need for corporate accountability. He asked why leaders of powerful social media companies are still held to the “lowest ethical standards” — and called on shareholders to demand tangible change.

“Parenting doesn’t end with the birth of a child. Neither does founding a company,” said Harry, who revealed that his smartphone lock screen is a photo of his children, five-year-old Prince Archie and three-year-old Princess Lilibet. “We have a duty and a responsibility to see our creations through.”

Harry’s remarks arrive as pressures continue to mount on tech giants like Meta, Snap and TikTok to make their online platforms safer, particularly for younger users. Many children on these platforms are exposed to content that is not age appropriate, such as violence, or misinformation. Others face unrealistic beauty standards, bullying and sexual harassment.

Companies have made some changes over the years — with Instagram, for example, announcing last week that it would be making teen accounts private by default in a handful of countries. But safety advocates have long-stressed that there’s more work to be done. Many also maintain that companies still put too much responsibility on parents when it comes to keeping children safe on social media.

Harry’s contribution to this year’s CGI annual meeting was part of the “What’s Working” theme, in a panel that included former President Bill Clinton, Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton and World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres.

The Archewell Foundation, which Harry founded with his wife, Meghan Markle, to carry out their philanthropic work recently launched an initiative supporting parents whose children have suffered or died due to online harms. Harry highlighted the work of that initiative, called The Parents Network, in his speech Tuesday.

The foundation has also partnered with the World Health Organization and others to end violence against children, an issue he and Meghan outlined during a recent trip to Colombia. Harry on Tuesday pointed to the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, which is set to take place in Bogotá this November. He said that this meeting could result in the first global agreement for prioritizing child safety and protection online.

His CGI address was part of a string of appearances for Harry in New York at the growing number of humanitarian and philanthropic events that run alongside the United Nations General Assembly Week.

On Monday, he appeared at an event for The HALO Trust, where he discussed how the work of the landmine clearing charity was influential on his late mother, Princess Diana, as well as at the 2024 Concordia Annual Summit, where he spoke with winners of The Diana Award.

“The HALO Trust’s work in Angola meant a great deal to my mother,” he said. “Carrying on her legacy is a responsibility that I take seriously. And I think we all know how much she would want us to finish this particular job.”

Harry’s message on Tuesday was generally well-received at the conference.

Nia Faith, 22, co-founder of the Canadian nonprofit Revolutionnaire, which works to empower youth and uses social media to mobilize members, said she saw his presentation as a “call to action” on an issue that does not get enough attention.

“I was incredibly moved by Prince Harry’s speech,” she said. “At Revolutionnaire, we use digital advocacy and social media to empower youth to make a positive impact. We also recognized that social media is being used in a way that is harmful and detrimental to the mental health of young people.”

Faith hopes that Harry’s work will convince companies and governments to take action to protect children while encouraging the use of platforms to drive more positive action.

Ashley Lashley, 25, whose Ashley Lashley Foundation works to address environmental challenges in her native Barbados by motivating young people to take action in their communities, said she was impressed by his remarks, even though she also worries about the digital divide in her country.

“His message really hit home that parents, teachers, and students really need to unite to educate each other about the safe usage of digital technology,” she said. “I really believe that there needs to be a multi sectorial approach. That’s what we’re seeing here at CGI where different persons from different sectors — from governments, from private sectors, from philanthropy organizations — can really work together to ensure that there is peace and equity across all social media platforms.”

On stage at the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual summit on Tuesday, Prince Harry stood in front of a screen that showed photographs of children on phone screens. During the speech’s most emotional moment, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and mentioned his own children, Archie and Lilibet.

“My lock screen is a picture of my kids. What’s on yours?” he said. “These children, and thousands more, meant the world to their families. The beautiful faces you see before you, their smiles, their dreams.” He added that they were lost too soon “because of social media.”

Harry delivered his speech to explain why he and wife Meghan Markle launched the Archewell Foundation’s Parent Network, an online support group for parents whose children have suffered from harms online. He also made a reference to a few of his tabloid misadventures when talking about what has changed about childhood today. “Some say kids will be kids and that may well be true. Kids may get into trouble—I know a thing or two about that,” he said. “But our kids are being targeted. The harmful effects of social media are made by design.”

Though his speaking slot followed appearances by Bill Clinton, Samantha Power, Laurene Powell Jobs, and José Andrés, his comments about empowering young people to change technology drew some of the morning’s most enthusiastic applause.

Harry and Meghan launched the network, a part of their larger efforts to promote online safety, in an August interview with CBS This Morning where they also opened up about their experiences getting to know parents whose children died of suicide following online bullying or overdosing on drugs purchased on social media. In his CGI speech, Harry also mentioned some of the more common harms.

“As the digital landscape has evolved, we’ve seen rising polarization, social unrest, and a disconnect that often manifests itself in violence and fear,” he said. “Personal social connections have fallen secondary to alternative digital realities. These platforms are designed to create addiction.”

The speech was a somber beginning to the prince’s second day attending events connected to the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week. Following the event, he attended a panel discussion at the UN, where he appeared alongside King Letsie III and Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso of Lesotho to discuss the work of Sentebale, the HIV/AIDS prevention charity he founded in 2003 following time spent in the country with Letsie’s brother Prince Seesio.
