The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Saturday January 24, 2026, for the premiere of Cookie Queens, a documentary that Archewell Productions has executive-produced.

The couple leaned into Sundance’s trademark understated polish with coordinated, low-key looks that felt relaxed yet refined. Meghan opted for a sleek, all-black ensemble, pairing a minimalist knit top with tailored trousers and pointed heels, her hair worn long and glossy for a clean, modern finish. Harry kept things casual-cool in a quilted navy vest layered over a dark long-sleeve top, teamed with olive trousers and suede boots – practical, unfussy and perfectly in step with the festival’s laid-back energy.

The film highlights the “real financial and time sacrifices” the girls and their families make to hit the goals, as they trade “laid-back weekends for hours outside, wagons full of cookies in tow.”

“As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary,” Meghan said in a statement in December when the news was announced.

“When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in. The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanizing tone and tenor of the directing, and the glimpse behind-the-scenes into such a nostalgic and also modern tradition of Girl Scout Cookie season are absolutely irresistible.”

Prince Harry’s Court Cases and Legal Battles: An Exhaustive Guide

This week, Prince Harry traveled to the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle, or their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to launch another front in his long-running war against the British press. He made an appearance in a London courtroom for his privacy-invasion trial against Associated Newspapers, one of Britain’s largest newspaper companies, and on Wednesday, he took to the witness stand to discuss the case.

The royal family spent most of the 20th century largely avoiding public litigation. Harry, though, has spent years aggressively challenging both the press and the government of his native country, ever since he stopped getting legal advice from Queen Elizabeth II’s lawyers and instead hired his own legal representation.

Harry’s quest began in 2019, shortly after his wife launched her own battle against Associated Newspapers and The Mail on Sunday, alleging that the publisher breached her privacy and copyright. (Meghan would eventually emerge victorious in that lawsuit.) At the tail end of a trip to South Africa, Harry announced that he was suing News Group Newspapers and the Mirror Group, and the following spring, he added that he and Meghan would no longer be cooperating with reporters from many tabloids. His announcement shocked the global media—and would play a pivotal role in the dissolution of Harry’s relationship with his family, which would culminate in Meghan and Harry’s 2020 decision to step back from senior royal duties and move to North America. In June 2023, Harry became the first senior royal to testify in High Court since 1891, when his great-great-great-grandfather Edward VII testified for 20 minutes during a trial.

After more than six years of courtroom struggles, Harry may be getting ready to bury the hatchet. “It’s not a nice experience for anyone to find themselves in court,” a source close to the prince told the Times earlier this month. “But he sees it as a necessary thing to do for a lot of reasons, a continuation of an ongoing mission, and he’s feeling confident going into it. He just wants to get through it and move on.” In the meantime, though, he’s currently involved in two major cases—with four more in the rearview mirror. Here’s a guide to each one.

Harry vs. Mirror Group Newspapers

At issue: Alleged illegal information gathering and phone hacking at The Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, and Sunday People.

Outcome: Harry won on 15 of the 33 claims he had made and was awarded a modest penalty payment of 140,600 British pounds.

Harry signed on to this case in 2019, joining with other British celebrities like former soccer player Ian Wright and the estate of George Michael. Harry’s lawyers alleged that unlawfully gathered information was used in dozens of articles about the prince that had been published between 1996 and 2010. The prince appeared in court for the suit in June 2023 and ultimately testified for two days, describing how the disclosure of private information affected his mental health and his relationship with his then girlfriend, Chelsy Davy. On the stand, Harry said that he joined the lawsuit in order to push back against the assumption that his personal life is open to media scrutiny by default. “There’s a difference between public interest and what interests the public,” he said.

Meghan Markle has one condition for returning to the UK with Prince Harry: experts

There’s only one way Meghan Markle will ever set foot in the U.K. again, royal experts told Fox News Digital.

Prince Harry, who is expected to be in Birmingham, England, for the one-year-to-go celebrations marking the Invictus Games kickoff this summer, hopes to have the Duchess of Sussex by his side, People magazine reported.

No decision has been made on whether the mother of two will travel to the U.K. in July. A spokesperson for Archewell told Fox News Digital, “These reports are entirely speculative.”

Kinsey Schofield, host of YouTube’s “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” told Fox News Digital that the “Suits” alum will only return to the U.K. if she’s assured of receiving automatic armed security. Prince Harry has previously said he doesn’t feel safe bringing his wife and their two children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — without sufficient protection.

“If Meghan were to travel to the U.K. under the current RAVEC protocol — which requires 30 days’ notice to assess threat levels — I am confident that both Harry and Meghan would receive armed security for an Invictus appearance,” Schofield said.

“However, the recent surge of headlines suggesting that Meghan will only return if RAVEC reverses its original ruling and grants automatic security appears to be an attempt to influence the committee’s latest threat assessment,” she added.

“While Prince Harry receives armed protection during most of his U.K. visits, the issue for the couple is the lack of automatic armed security,” Schofield claimed. “They object to having to request protection on a case-by-case basis. This outcome was clearly outlined as a consequence when they chose to step back from their roles as working members of the royal family.”

The decision to deny Harry full-time armed protection while in the U.K. could soon be reversed.

“It’s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is now nailed on for Harry,” one insider previously told the Mail on Sunday. Sources also told People magazine that “positive” considerations were being made by the governing body regarding the possible reversal.

A review is currently underway.

“I feel talks are underway to open the doors for Harry and Meghan to return to Britain as part of King Charles’ legacy to unite the family while he has the power and strength to do so,” royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital.

“Meghan will want many assurances, especially about how she is treated and how she can bring her own individuality with her,” he said. “Security is one of the biggest issues. I see encouraging signs that the heated moments of the past have cooled. I also believe Harry has asked King Charles to open the Invictus Games.”

Meghan, 44, typically accompanies her husband to support his Paralympic-style games and has attended previous countdown events. The couple also attended the one-year-to-go celebration in 2022.

People reported that Harry wants increased taxpayer-backed security for his family, which they lost after their royal exit.

Harry has been estranged from his family since he and Meghan stepped back as senior royals in 2020 and moved to California. They cited intense media intrusion and a lack of palace support as reasons for their departure.

Since settling in Montecito, California, the couple has aired their grievances in interviews and documentaries. Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare,” which revealed intimate details about the House of Windsor, further strained his relationship with the royals.

Sources close to Harry told People magazine that the king wouldn’t respond to his phone calls or letters. Royal experts previously told Fox News Digital that Harry and his older brother Prince William were not on speaking terms. Harry, 41, told the BBC in May that he is ready for reconciliation.

While Charles may welcome a reunion, Schofield claimed Meghan can expect a cold reception from other members of the royal family.

“I don’t think we would see the working royals even acknowledge their presence,” she said. “The Sussexes’ credibility has been bruised over the last few years, and the royals want to keep their distance…. She felt rejected by Harry’s family and country and wants to focus on her U.S. aspirations.”

“Meghan is typically there to support Harry’s countdown to Invictus, but I have a hard time believing she will show up this time,” said Schofield. “I don’t believe Meghan will travel to the U.K. for this event. I don’t believe she will be there.”

British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital it’s unlikely many Britons will give the American duchess a warm welcome back.

“It’s a risky move,” Fordwich said. “She will be viewed as divisive at best. She is smart and knows she will be entering a frightfully hostile environment…. The royals are also beyond wary.”

“Prince William blames Meghan Markle for escalating their private tensions into a highly public media circus,” Fordwich claimed. “He has no tolerance for reconciliation.”

“The public could be angry and annoyed at Meghan for her treatment of the royal family,” British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital.

Schofield said Meghan’s biggest obstacle remains winning over the British public.

“Meghan knows she’s not very popular in the U.K.,” Schofield claimed. “She was audibly booed at one of the last times she visited. She is trying to avoid public humiliation more than anything.”

“Meghan’s biggest obstacle would be winning over the public unless hell freezes over and working members of the royal family show up to support Harry. In that case, her biggest obstacle would be the humbling curtsy that would be required of her.”

Fordwich agreed.

“I’m rather skeptical Meghan will be there,” she said. “The last time Meghan was in the U.K., she had to endure being booed as she descended the steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Her ratings haven’t improved since then. In fact, she’s further plummeted in the polls. Being booed again would be frightfully damaging to her brand with huge reputational risks.”

Meghan was last in the U.K. for the funeral events of Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022. Archie and Lilibet have only been back to Harry’s home country once since the couple left for the late queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June of that year. They are being raised in California.

Harry’s ongoing struggle to reinstate his security has contributed to his estrangement from his father, according to People. Harry believes the monarch could influence the decision. However, Buckingham Palace has repeatedly denied that Charles, 77, has the power to reinstate his security.

Meghan Markle shares romantic dancing video with Prince Harry alongside 2016 throwback photo

Meghan Markle shared a romantic new video of herself with her husband Prince Harry along with a throwback photo of the two in 2016 as she celebrated their almost decade-long romance.

On Saturday, the 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex took part in the viral “2026 is the new 2016” trend, in which social media users are marking the new year with nostalgic photos from ten years ago.

Markle posted a black and white video from this year in which she was seen dancing with Harry, 41, on a lawn — along with an image of the couple that appeared to be taken during their 2016 trip to Botswana, Africa just weeks after they first met.

“When 2026 feels just like 2016….you had to be there,” Markle wrote in the caption, crediting their four-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet with taking the video.

In the clip, Markle was clad in a pair of loose-fitting shorts and a short-sleeved white shirt while Harry wore pants and a T-shirt.

The former “Suits” actress was seen dancing across an expansive lawn toward Harry before the couple embraced and kissed. The couple then began dancing with each other with Harry dipping his wife backward at one point.

The video, which was set to Olivia Dean’s 2025 song “So Easy (To Fall in Love),” concluded as Harry picked Markle up and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

The second slide in Markle’s carousel featured a throwback photo of the pair, who were seen beaming as they embraced while standing knee-deep in what appeared to be a waterhole in a savannah.

During a November 2017 interview with BBC, Harry and Markle recalled that they first met after a mutual friend set them up on a blind date in London in early July 2016.

The two had an instant connection and quickly followed up their first meeting with two back-to-back dates. Harry remembered that just weeks later, he asked Markle to accompany him on a camping trip in Botswana.

Harry noted that it didn’t take long for him to realize that Markle was the one.

“I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly — it was a confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned,” he said. “This beautiful woman literally tripped and fell into my life.”

In November 2016, Harry made an official statement confirming their relationship confirming their relationship and pleading for a reprieve from the negative press their romance was receiving.

While speaking with the BBC, Markle noted that the pair were able to enjoy their relationship for several months before it was made public. At the time, she was filming her USA Network TV show “Suits” in Toronto, Canada while Harry was living in London.

“We had a good five, six months almost with just privacy, which was amazing,” she said. “I think we were able to really have so much time just to connect and we never went longer than two weeks without seeing each other, even though we were obviously doing a long-distance relationship. So it’s – we made it work.”

Markle publicly addressed her romance with Harry for the first time while appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair’s October 2017 issue.

“We’re a couple,” she told the outlet. “We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time.

Meghan Markle Returns to her Suits-era Public Relations Strategy

Like everyone else, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle appears to be nostalgic for 2016—and we’re not just talking about her engagement with the “2026 is the New 2016” social media trend. But perhaps the photo she posted of herself with Prince Harry, taken when she was still the star of Suits, provided some inspiration for her latest move as an exiled California duchess.

It’s no secret that Meghan and Harry have struggled to retain a public relations team, with last month’s departure of Meredith Maines marking the eleventh press officer to leave the Sussex ship in just five years. But according to The Telegraph, Meghan has stopped looking for a new spokesperson, and has instead turned back to Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis (SSML), the same public relations agency that managed her public life when she was a Hollywood figure, not a member of the royal family.

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis has a reputation as crisis communications experts, which might be fitting in this case. Maines’ departure at the end of last year reminded royal watchers that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced challenges when it comes to staff loyalty. Perhaps a return to a familiar agency—from which she has previously experienced good results—will put an end to the turnover.

A source who spoke with the Telegraph says that “SSML has been working on intermittent projects with the Duke and Duchess since 2017,” and “is currently working with its in-house team at As Ever and with the couple on specific initiatives in the US.”

Keleigh Thomas Morgan, a partner at the firm, was also a guest at Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding—and could now be the one to lead the couple’s communications strategy. Morgan is the one who aided in Meghan Markle’s transformation from actress to duchess and who, later, helped design the couple’s transition from the British royal family to financial independence under the label of Archewell, the foundation that Harry and Meghan created after ceasing their official duties and leaving their Kensington Palace office.

But after they settled in California, Meghan and Harry formed their own in-house team, trading the outside agency for a succession of workers who would last a breath at their side. For Harry, it might have been a familiar model, as the royal family typically communicates through a structure of secretaries, communications advisors, and assistants that function like a small court. But while London is a machine greased by centuries of tradition, Montecito has been a different story, with the couple’s reputation facing strong headwinds in recent years.

Founded in 1991, Sunshine Sachs has a solid reputation among celebrities. It was the agency that shielded Justin Timberlake after his infamous Super Bowl performance and the one that handled Ben Affleck‘s complex divorce from Jennifer Garner. According to The Telegraph, its client list also includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Barbra Streisand, and Jennifer Lopez. Will Meghan’s jams and candles sell even better under this new public relations relationship? As 2026 continues, we shall see.

Meghan Markle Dips Into Viral ‘2026 is the New 2016’ Trend

It’s not just your friends from college. Even Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has leapt into the “2026 is the new 2016” trend that’s sweeping social media. But while most of us are dredging up grainy, 10-year-old shots and videos intended to establish that 2016 was a great year worthy of nostalgia, Meghan Markle might have more reason than most to look back, as 2016 was the year she met her now-husband, Prince Harry.

These throwback posts have become almost a viral obligation, one that not even royalty can escape. In the Duchess of Sussex’s case the post was a short black-and-white video of the couple dancing barefoot on the grass—but the video, itself, wasn’t from ten years ago, as Markle notes it was shot by the Meghan and Harry’s daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, who was born in 2021.

Swipe, and you’ll see a photo of the pair in Botswana, which the couple visited together just weeks after they began dating in July of 2016. “When 2026 looks just like 2016,” the post’s caption reads.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle staff turnover raises red flags after latest exit: expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing another round of staff departures.

It was confirmed on Dec. 26 that the couple’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, would be stepping down from her position after officially starting work with them in March. Just a few days later, their longtime advisor, James Holt, announced he would be leaving his role as executive director of Archewell on Dec. 29.

News of their departures comes after three communications staffers — Charlie Gipson, Kyle Boulia and Emily Robinson — also resigned earlier this year. Their global press secretary, Ashley Hansen, previously stepped down last year to start her own agency after working with the couple for two years.

“In virtually any context—other than the final months of an outgoing administration—losing five senior-level comms advisors inside of a year is a bit abnormal,” Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR, told Fox News Digital.

He continued: “It’s unclear whether it was due to budgetary constraints within Archewell—as has been alluded to in other articles and sources—or merely a consolidation plan that realigns strategic direction from the UK, or whether it was merely the conclusion of a predetermined engagement. What hasn’t been indicated, or inferred, is that any of the aforementioned advisors either quit or were terminated.”

According to Eldridge, the signs of “a successful strategic communications team and plan are: clarity, continuity, and execution,” which in turn bring stability, something he says “is hard to maintain…when your comms team has become a revolving door over the last 12 months.”

Royal photographer, Helena Chard, joked that it feels like déjà vu with Harry and Meghan this time of year, as “the unusual high staff turnover merry-go-round continues,” while also sharing a potential reason for Maines’ departure.

“Allegedly, the Kris Jenner birthday party controversy contributed to Meredith Maines’ decision to leave. She, along with the communications team, has faced scrutiny over media relations handling and public perception,” Chard told Fox News Digital.

“Maines is a highly respected communications professional and, without doubt, will be protecting her reputation from the Sussex’s possible damaging erratic behavior,” she continued. “A communications strategy only works if all parties adhere to the plan.”

Harry and Meghan attended Jenner’s birthday party at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ Beverly Hills home in November. Both Kim Kardashian and Jenner posted photos of the couple at the party on Instagram, with the two of them later taking their posts down.

Chard also speaks to there being “a distinct lack of clarity” in their messaging, noting that “there should be a focus on consistency and credibility for success.”

“There are murmurs of Meghan and Harry not following advice given by experts,” Chard adds. “Hiring top experts is essential to things running successfully. Everyone has their strengths and one would hope that Meghan and Harry have learned that they do not always know best!”

NEW CLAIMS EMERGE ABOUT PRINCE HARRY, MEGHAN MARKLE MYSTERIOUSLY VANISHING FROM KARDASHIAN SOCIAL MEDIA

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich refers to the new round of departures as “undeniable confirmation” that Harry and Meghan are “are unmanageably high‑maintenance and hypocritical at best,” calling them “the common denominator here in this dysfunctional situation.”

“There is no other logical explanation as this is far from business as usual, it’s neither calm nor coherent,” Fordwich added. “Harking back to their royal legacy of the ‘Sussex Survivors Club’, coined by former Palace staff describing their trauma from bullying allegations after working for the couple, believing, only half-jokingly, they suffered from a form of post-traumatic stress.”

Fordwich explained that people in those positions usually stick around for three to five years, with most departures happening because of “mergers, scandals, or change of leadership,” with exceptions being “start-ups or companies in crisis mode,” adding “such tumultuous turnovers signal either the principals are ghastly to work with and for, and/or the company is shrinking, or both.”

She also contrasted the level of turnover in Harry and Meghan’s staff to Prince William and Kate Middleton, whose senior communications staff worked with the couple for years, adding this continuity “is facilitated by established protocols and clear institutional hierarchies.”

Eldridge and Chard also focused on the media attention the departures are bringing the couple, adding that “paradoxically, it creates the very type of headlines they wanted to avoid in the first place.”

He explained that now that they don’t have a team to “plant headlines on your behalf,” the public is now more focused on “why your senior comms advisors are leaving in droves.”

“The UK ‘audience’ (I’m not sure she has a demonstrable fan base over there) are markedly more vicious, at least by American tabloid standards,” Eldridge said. “Here in the U.S., the presumption—whether right or wrong—will be that she is difficult to work with and that’s why so many experienced, senior comms leaders are exiting faster than a “10 items or less” line at the checkout. Neither conclusion will benefit Markle.”

“The NDAs are signed, the messaging is carefully choreographed and smoke and mirrors covering staff departures dominate press coverage,” Chard added. “Many have sparked conversations surrounding the underlying issues, instability and disconnect within camp.”

In terms of what this means for the couple moving forward, Fordwich explains that it might be hard for them to find high-caliber professionals who are willing to work for them.

“What this will do henceforth is to limit the caliber of professionals willing to work for Harry and Meghan Markle,” Fordwich said. “Top notch professionals don’t either want to nor need to enter into such a volatile situation with no sustainability, let alone a contracting versus expanding philanthropic entity with strategy confusion and a ghastly incoherent track-record to date.”

Prince Harry and Nacho Figueras Had a Friendly Ski Weekend in Aspen

December is for hitting the slopes, even if you’re royalty. And because Aspen is the top destination for skiing in the U.S., it was only a matter of time before Prince Harry made an appearance there. The Duke of Sussex traveled to Colorado last week to attend the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship.

Aspen Snow Polo’s Instagram page noted that Harry competed on the Aspen Valley team, playing alongside Grant Ganzi and Nic Roldan. Missing from that roster was Nacho Figueras, Harry’s friend and a former professional polo player from Argentina, who was instead a part of the St. Regis team.

Even though they were competitors at the sporting event, the pals were spotted on the slopes before the games began. Figueras and Harry spent a few hours together skiing and having a high-altitude lunch. According to Hello, which first reported the news, “Harry seemed happy and was also joined by a number of male friends on the slopes.”

Harry and Figueras first met in 2007 during a tournament raising funds for Sentebale, a charity founded by the prince. Afterward they bonded over their shared passion for polo. Figueras was among the guests at Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, and he also appeared in Polo, a docuseries that Harry and Meghan produced for Netflix.

Meghan wasn’t on hand to cheer for her husband this time around; she remained in Montecito, California, with her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Meghan did share her enthusiasm for the event by sharing a picture of Harry on horseback to her Instagram account.

Earlier this month, the duchess’s father, Thomas Markle, underwent a leg amputation in the Philippines. On December 10, a spokesperson said that Meghan was able to deliver a letter to his bedside, per The Guardian, and criticized the British media for making it difficult for her to have private exchanges with her father. Last week, Harry and Meghan shared their annual holiday card, including a family picture showing Archie and Lilibet in profile.

Meanwhile, Harry’s time in Aspen was his first public appearance in weeks, and he seemed to be enjoying this boys’ weekend in the snow. As a child, the prince would spend vacations with his family in cold destinations like Switzerland. Most years, he still chooses to spend some time on the slopes. In 2024, he even tried sit-skiing during a visit to a training camp ahead of the 2025 Invictus Games in Whistler and Vancouver. That same year, he reportedly took his own children to Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Utah for a family vacation.

Before the tournament kicked off on Wednesday, there was the obligatory pilgrimage to Kemo Sabe, where Mariah Carey, Shay Mitchell, and Pia Baroncini picked up custom cowboy hats—the must-have accessory for blending in with Aspen’s Western-chic aesthetic.

Once play began at Rio Grande Park, champagne flowed freely alongside a raw bar, sushi station, and taco setup in the St. Regis tent. What the Royal Families of Europe Eat During Christmas

During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, English royal holiday banquets were stacked with countless dishes, with a heavy emphasis on expensive meats. According to Louise Cooling’s A Royal Christmas, 30 oxen, 100 sheep, five boars, nine dozen fowls, salted venison, salmon, lampreys (an eel-like fish) and 19 large wine casks were procured for King Henry III of England’s Christmas at Woodstock Palace in 1264.

Mincemeat pies, crane, swan, brawn (terrine made with a pig’s head and served with mustard), goose and lamprey pie, and even porpoise (served dressed with vinegar and breadcrumbs) were all popular holiday fare. A boar’s head, presented on a platter, was often the first dish of the feast. “After a flourish of trumpets it was carried into the banqueting hall, by the server, on a gold or silver dish,” the Nottinghamshire Guardian reported in 1900. “A procession followed, consisting of nobles, knights, and ladies singing a joyous carol.”

Peacocks were also considered a delicacy in medieval feasts; their colorful feathers proudly displayed. “The bird was first skinned, and the feathered tail, head and neck were laid on a table, and sprinkled with cumin,” Sheila Hutchins writes in Royal Cookbook: Favorite Court Recipes from the World’s Royal Families. “The body was then roasted, glazed with raw egg yolks, cooled, sewn back into the skin, and served as the last course.”

Frumenty—a wholegrain porridge made with cream, honey, expensive spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, and dried fruit and nuts—was a popular dish (which later evolved into a Christmas pudding). There was also “Christmas Pottage,” a plum broth of beef or mutton, breadcrumbs, raisins, currants and spices. This recipe would evolve over the centuries, becoming even more decadent. The recipe preferred by 19th-century English monarch George IV included beef, veal, dried fruits, spices, ground cochineal (for a festive red pigment) and tons of booze including port, brandy, sherry, Madeira and claret.

It was during Queen Victoria’s long reign that many of the British royal family’s Christmas traditions were set. “At dinner there were all the Christmas dishes, of which we generally had to eat a little,” Queen Victoria recalled, per Cooling. “First the cold baron of beef which stood on the large sideboard all decked out – brawn – game pies from Ireland…stuffed turkey – wild boar’s head…mince pies etc. etc. – and all sorts of Bonbons and figures and toys were brought at dessert, many of which were given to the children; and there used to be such great excitement and delight.”

Was it improper timing? Royal sources are blasting Meghan Markle for announcing her new documentary at the same time as King Charles‘ health update.

Meghan Markle’s production company, Archewell Productions announced the upcoming documentary Cookie Queens which will premiere at Sundance Film Festival. The film is directed by Alysa Nahmias and is described as “a coming-of-age story about the joys, pressures, and pain points woven into one of America’s most cherished rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season,” per Deadline.

In a statement to the outlet, the Duchess of Sussex said, “As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary.”

The announcement comes hours before King Charles shared “good news” about his cancer treatment. Royal sources told RadarOnline that Meghan’s news was “super-cynical” and had “tone deaf” timing.
One source told the site, “The timing comes across as utterly self-serving. The project itself is fine, but it inevitably steals attention from a significant and hopeful moment for the king.”

Another insider added: “It feels like a deliberate effort to shift public attention at a time when the royal family is already under intense scrutiny for other matters. It is both super-cynical and tone deaf and feels as if it was timed to take away from Charles’ announcement. She effectively tried to hijack it, as everyone knew it was coming hours before, as it was announced by global media.”

In a pre-recorded message for Stand Up to Cancer, the King said, “Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to ‘doctors’ orders,’ my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year,” the King said in the message. “This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years; testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the fifty percent of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives.”

The message also comes after reports that Meghan and Harry are ‘unlikely’ to heal their damaged relationships with their fathers. The Times reported that a source said that Harry and is moving in the right direction and claimed the pair do speak, but another said this is laughable. Meghan Markle’s father was hospitalized after experiencing a blood clot and had his leg amputated on Dec. 5. She sent her estranged father a letter after the surgery.

Yesterday, Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, shared his own festive family photo on Instagram. Kate Middleton and her husband also opted for a country setting: they pose, seated in the grass, with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The relationship between King Charles and his youngest son, Prince Harry, has been strained in recent years, but the monarch has a touching image of his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, on display at his London home.

The Queen invited children, supported by the organisations Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, to decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House on Thursday, and the framed photograph could be seen on a table in the background.

Paying tribute to his father in the 2017 BBC documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Harry spoke about the moment he asked Charles to walk his future wife down the aisle: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you’. Meghan added: “Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him ‘I’ve lost my dad in this,’ so him as my father-in-law is very important to me.”

The King and Prince Harry were reunited for the first time in 19 months during a 55-minute meeting at Clarence House when the Duke returned to the UK in September.

— Reba McEntire hosts NBC’s annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” which culminates in the lighting of the giant Christmas tree in New York’s Rockefeller Center. This year’s tree is a Norway spruce from Greenbush, New York. It has more than 50,000 colored lights and is topped with a Swarovski star that weighs 900 pounds. — Some people find holiday prep daunting. It comes naturally to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, whose life seems to be a Pinterest page. She’s got ideas to share in a special episode of Netflix’s “With Love, Meghan” lifestyle series. In “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” Meghan taps guests including Naomi Osaka and Tom Colicchio to bake, make treats with holiday flair and craft. “Being a hostess or a host, it’s about making people feel comfortable,” the royal says.

— In the new Apple TV special, “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock,” the Fraggles are anxiously waiting for snow to kick off their festive season. — The OWN original, “The Christmas Showdown,” reunites Amber Stevens West and Corbin Reid from the acclaimed Starz comedy “Run the World.” They play former besties competing for the same job who learn it’s better to work as a team. Loretta Devine also stars.

— How about a cozy mystery this Christmas? UPtv offers the new film “A Christmas Murder Mystery.” Vera Vexley is a puzzle editor for her local newspaper who also has a side-gig as a detective. When Vera’s invited to spend the holidays with family friends, a murder launches her into investigative-mode and everyone is a suspect.

— A new two-hour, faith-based special tells the story of Mary, Joseph and the birth of Jesus in “Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas” for ABC. The Oscar winner serves as host and narrator.

Dec. 10

— Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox co-star in a new holiday rom-com called “Merv” for Prime Video. The pair play exes who share joint custody of their dog Merv. When Merv is visibly depressed because his human parents are no longer together, they take him on a trip to cheer him up.

— Jimmy Fallon’s musical comedy special from last year gets a repeat. In “Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular,” the “Tonight Show” host searches a New York apartment building for the holiday spirit and encounters different celebrity guests behind each door. Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, LL Cool J, the Roots and “Weird Al” Yankovic all appear.

— AMC’s annual holiday programming includes a marathon of Will Ferrell’s “Elf” beginning at 6 p.m. It broadcasts back-to-back for eight-hours.

— Apple TV streams the beloved favorite “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for free on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.

— In “A Suite Holiday Romance” for Hallmark Channel, Jessy Schram stars a ghostwriter who checks-in to a fancy New York hotel for a job writing a memoir. She meets a handsome Brit (Dominic Sherwood) and the two experience a series of misunderstandings until they realize they’re meant to be.

Dec. 14

— HGTV returns to the White House at Christmas for a one-hour special that goes behind-the-scenes of its decorating transformation at the holidays. It also streams next day on HBO Max and Discovery+.

— On the first night of Hanukkah, Hallmark Channel premieres the new movie “Oy to the World!” When the pipes burst at a local synagogue, a church opens its doors for an interfaith service. Brooke D’Orsay and Jake Epstein play choir directors who were also rivals in high school that must work together to put on a successful event for all.

Dec. 15

— Acorn TV has a two-part Christmas special of “The Madame Blanc Mysteries” airing Dec. 15 and Dec. 22. British actor Sally Lindsay plays antique dealer Jean White, who visits the France museum Maison Sainte-Victoire on Christmas Eve to authenticate an Ormolu box once owned by Marie Antoinette. It’s discovered that the box contains a ticking time bomb and Jean and her team have just 90 minutes to diffuse it.

— “The Nutcracker” ballet is a Christmas classic, and PBS is offering a reimagined version taped at the London Coliseum. Still set to Tchaikovsky’s score, this version centralizes Clara’s story and is set in Edwardian London where a street scene has dancing chimney sweeps and suffragettes. “Great Performances: Nutcracker from English National Ballet” will also be available for streaming on PBS.org and the PBS app.

Dec. 20

— Lifetime is jumping on the pickleball popularity bandwagon with the new movie “A Pickleball Christmas.” It stars James Lafferty as a tennis pro whose family’s racquet club is on the brink of closing its doors. He and a tennis instructor take part in a holiday tournament to save the day.

Dec. 21

— Tate Donovan and Jillian Murphy star in a new Christmas movie for Great American Family called “Mario Lopez Presents: Chasing Christmas.” In the film, Donovan plays a morning show host and Murphy a designer who team up to make a child’s Christmas wish come true. Lopez’s son Dominic also has a role.

— The Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer classic “The Sound of Music” airs on ABC.

Dec. 24

— “Home Alone” airs on ABC. The film made Macaulay Culkin a child star for playing a boy whose parents accidentally leave him home when their large family hurries off on a Christmas vacation. He’s left to defend his house against two clumsy burglars.

Dec. 25

— Netflix is gifting us with football on Christmas again this year. The Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders game is at 1 p.m. Eastern followed by the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
