  • Adam Schefter shares details about Raiders, Maxx Crosby trade rumors

    The big question surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders right now is whether Maxx Crosby will wear a silver and black uniform next season. The star defensive end has seen his name come up in plenty of trade rumors lately, and a number of teams across the NFL would surely love to land him.

    However, as one could expect, the Raiders won’t let go of him easily. The five-time Pro Bowler is 28 years of age, which means he should have plenty left in the tank, and he is one of the very best at generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

    ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter made an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic, a Delaware Valley radio station, to talk about the chances of the Philadelphia Eagles landing Crosby. He said that Las Vegas isn’t very inclined to trade Crosby, and that if it does end up doing so, it may take a king’s ransom.

    “I was told that the Raiders don’t want to trade [Maxx Crosby], and if they even contemplated it, then it would take a Micah Parsons type package. That’s what I was told. Do I think they are getting two firsts and a player, no. Do I think they want to trade him, no. Do I think he’ll be traded like AJ Brown [could be], that’ll change by the week… Any deal involving Maxx Crosby, I would think for the Raiders to make that deal, would take a first round pick at minimum.”

    Parsons, who, like Crosby, is an elite edge rusher, was traded by the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers just prior to the start of this season for two first-round draft picks, as well as defensive tackle Kenny Clark, a three-time Pro Bowler. But Parsons is about two years younger than Crosby, and just because the Cowboys got a big return for him doesn’t mean Las Vegas will get what it may demand for Crosby.

    In 2025, Crosby put up 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, six passes defended and 73 total tackles (45 solo). He has the ability to single-handedly elevate a team’s defense and take plenty of pressure off other defensive ends and off-ball linebackers on his team.

    But the Raiders have an awful team right now, and he doesn’t seem to fit their timeline. After going 3-14 this season, they will have the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft, but this year’s draft class isn’t especially attractive, unless Indiana University quarterback Fernando Mendoza turns into a diamond in the rough.

    Las Vegas badly needs a competent quarterback, as well as help at the wide receiver position and plenty of assistance on the defensive side of the football. Perhaps the team shouldn’t be in a rush to trade Crosby, but if it receives a sizable offer for him, it may be time for it to part ways with him and use the return it would get for him to accelerate its rebuilding process.

    Crosby has four more years left on his contract and will carry a $35.88 million salary cap hit for the 2026 campaign. The Raiders, however, will have over $87 million of cap space, according to spotrac.com.

  • Proposed Blockbuster Trade Sends Maxx Crosby to Detroit Lions Rival

    Every so often, a hypothetical trade pops up that makes Detroit Lions fans stop scrolling and say, “Wait… what?”

    This is one of those.

    While the Lions themselves weren’t included in ESPN’s latest batch of trade proposals, one idea involving the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders should absolutely set off alarm bells in Detroit, because it would drop one of the NFL’s most destructive defenders right into the NFC North.

    The Trade That Could Change the Division

    In a proposal outlined by ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, the Bears would acquire Maxx Crosby from the Raiders in exchange for wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 first-round pick, plus a late pick swap.

    If that sounds terrifying from a Lions perspective, it should.

    Crosby lining up twice a year against Jared Goff, alongside an already aggressive Chicago defense, would dramatically shift the balance of power in the division.

    Why the Bears Might Actually Consider It

    Barnwell explained why Chicago could be willing to move on from Moore, even though he’s been one of their most productive offensive players:

    “I’m not sure Johnson really loves Moore. The Bears will be locked into Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III — both on rookie deals — as two of their top wide receivers in 2026. Colston Loveland will command a ton of targets.”

    Barnwell went further, suggesting scheme and personnel preferences could make Moore expendable:

    “The Bears could move on from Cole Kmet, but what if Johnson wants to live in 12 personnel more often? What if he prefers Olamide Zaccheaus as a third receiver on a much cheaper contract, given the journeyman’s blocking ability? Moore’s a better player, but the Bears can find a replacement for his targets at a much cheaper cost.”

    From a Lions standpoint, this is where the concern starts to grow. If Ben Johnson — now Chicago’s head coach — is willing to sacrifice offensive firepower to supercharge the defense, that’s a problem.

    Why the Raiders Would Listen

    Barnwell also laid out why Las Vegas could be motivated to move their defensive star, especially with a rookie quarterback on the way:

    “The Raiders, meanwhile, need to add help at wide receiver for presumptive No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. Speedy flanker Tre Tucker profiles as a secondary option, while 2025 draft picks Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. failed to impress in their rookie seasons, racking up a combined 42 catches for 445 yards.”

    He continued:

    “Klint Kubiak should lean into 12 personnel with Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer, but Vegas still needs a starting-caliber wideout.”

    And while free agency could offer alternatives, Barnwell made it clear Moore would be a clean solution:

    “Raiders GM John Spytek could look toward his old stomping grounds in Tampa Bay and attempt to sign Mike Evans if the future Hall of Famer hits free agency. But Moore would be a much-needed addition for the Raiders, who need to surround Mendoza with talent to ensure that their new QB can live up to expectations.”

    Why Maxx Crosby in Chicago Is a Nightmare Scenario

    Barnwell didn’t mince words about what Crosby would do for the Bears’ defense:

    “Crosby pushes everyone into the right role, notably Sweat, who would see far fewer double-teams.”

    That’s the sentence Lions fans should read twice.

    A Bears front featuring Crosby and Montez Sweat would instantly become one of the most dangerous pass-rushing units Detroit has faced in years.

    Barnwell acknowledged the cost — but framed it as a calculated gamble:

    “Giving up a first-round pick would be painful, and the Bears need to address safety with Jaquan Brisker hitting free agency. But if they think they’re close to making a deeper playoff run, adding Crosby would be one way to leverage Caleb Williams’ rookie-scale salary.”

    The Lions Angle: This Is Exactly What Detroit Doesn’t Want

    From Detroit’s point of view, this proposal is alarming for one simple reason: it makes a division rival significantly tougher in the exact area that causes problems for the Lions.

    • Elite edge rushers disrupt Detroit’s timing offense

    • Crosby is the type of defender who wrecks game plans

    The Lions have spent years climbing to the top of the division. A move like this by Chicago would threaten that balance immediately.

    Detroit Lions fans will remember this proposal as the moment they realized the NFC North arms race had officially escalated.

  • The NFL Season Is Over and Everything Is Worse Now; So, Here Are Some Alternatives – Philadelphia Sports Nation

    The NFL season is over, and everything is worse now. We just saw the Seattle Seahawks soundly defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, meaning the Eagles’ title of defending champions is over.

    We now enter the dark day,s also known as the offseason.

    Football-less weekends are upon us.

    How you spend these next few months is up to you, but here’s where I’m starting.

    Coaching Staff

    Prep for the next Eagles season. There’s been a lot of upheaval in the Eagles staff, particularly on the offensive side. Let’s familiarize ourselves with them. New Offensive Coordinator Sean Mannion, Passing Coordinator Josh Grizzard, and Offensive Line Coach Chris Kuper have joined the Eagles staff for 2026. They seem like promising young hires, which is the cliche way of saying we know very little about how they’ll actually perform.

    We do know that Jordan Love has played well under Mannion, Baker has become the franchise guy in Tampa under Grizzard, and the Vikings’ rushing game was surprisingly competent despite the revolving door of starter quarterbacks. I’ll also be looking at players who may join or leave the team next year.

    A.J. Brown

    Brings us to crazy trade scenarios. Is AJ Brown actually going to force a trade out of Philadelphia? Personally, I want to keep AJ despite his antics from the last two years. Most reports show Brown’s value around a second-round pick, which doesn’t justify it to me. Sure, a second-round pick could be any caliber of player; it could even be an AJ Brown-type player. Then again, Howie has shown he’d rather pull the plug early than late.

    Maxx Crosby

    Is Howie going to pull a masterclass and try to get Maxx Crosby? While I would love to see a player like him added to the team, I think it only really happens if the Raiders are desperate to move him.

    He has a massive contract signed last year, and the Eagles need more help on the offensive line than on the defensive line. They’ll likely try to build through the draft.

    2026 NFL Draft

    Speaking of, you can also start prepping for the draft. My early draft prep is to take an o-line or player from either the college playoffs or the SEC. I think the biggest difference for the Eagles from 2024 to 2025 was their running game.

    Hand up, I’m not much of a college football fan, so specifics will come later as we get closer to the draft. I do know that we can’t judge their past season of play until we see how well they exercise before the draft. More to come later, but we have our last idea.

    Landon Dickerson

    Doom scroll about the team. Not recommended, and actually, I’m going to try to talk you down on the big ones. Landon Dickerson might retire due to a knee injury that has reportedly plagued his 2025 season and was an issue when he was first drafted. It may surprise you, but I’m not secretly a doctor with a great knowledge of players’ knees.

    As a sports watcher, I can say we’ve seen a lot of players with leg injuries heal faster and return to 100% as of late. There are ACLs like Jayson Tatum or even Joel Embiid who got knee surgery and have been playing like they did when they won the MVP.

    Lane Johnson

    Lane Johnson also underwent surgery, and as the Eagles’ longest-tenured player (assuming Brandon Graham re-retires), there are questions about his future. I don’t actually expect him to retire unless his healing goes worse than expected.

    What I do expect is that this is his last year, so the Eagles better take one of those guys I haven’t researched yet.

    Vic Fangio

    Vic Fangio also flirted with retirement but has told the team he’d remain for at least another year. While this would be bad for obvious reasons, there’s always the chance that these were just rumors and a return to winning would cure his issues. There’s also our old pal Jim Schwartz, who is taking a year off from football after not being picked as the Browns’ head coach.

    Would he be willing to take another defensive coordinator position? Who knows, but I can tell you he’d get more national coverage with the Eagles than the Browns.

    Those are a few things I’ll be doing.

    The Detroit Lions just got pulled into one of the biggest trade rumors of the entire offseason.

    During Super Bowl LX week, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN named the Lions as one of several “natural would-be contenders” to pursue Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby, a revelation that immediately caught the attention of fans across the league.

    The timing isn’t accidental. Earlier in the week, Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer reported that Crosby may be “done” with Las Vegas, setting off widespread speculation about where one of the NFL’s most relentless pass rushers could land next.

    Why Maxx Crosby Makes Sense for Detroit

    Detroit is firmly in win-now mode, and the idea of pairing Crosby with Aidan Hutchinson is the kind of move that could change the balance of power in the NFC.

    Crosby has been one of the league’s most consistent edge defenders over the last seven seasons, earning two All-Pro selections and five Pro Bowl nods. Adding him opposite Hutchinson would give the Lions one of the most feared pass-rush duos in football — something this defense has lacked in high-leverage playoff moments.

    According to Fowler, Crosby’s priority is clear:

    “What has been made clear to me: Crosby wants to be a part of a winner. That’s the priority.”

    That alone puts Detroit squarely in the conversation.

    Lions Named Among Serious Trade Contenders

    Fowler reported that trade interest in Crosby is massive, with more than a dozen teams expected to at least inquire. Among the contenders he specifically listed were the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys, and Ravens — a group made up almost entirely of Super Bowl-caliber teams.

    Crosby has remained loyal to the Raiders throughout his career, but Fowler noted that loyalty could soon be tested. Las Vegas is still far from contention, and Crosby is approaching the heart of his prime.

    The Financial Reality

    Any Crosby trade would come at a steep cost — both in draft capital and money.

    If Detroit were to acquire him, Crosby would carry a 2026 cap hit north of $30 million, though he does come with four years of team control after signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension last offseason.

    That number is significant, but for a franchise pushing for its first Super Bowl appearance, it’s the type of financial swing that front offices sometimes decide is worth it.

    A Franchise-Altering Move?

    Statistically, Crosby is exactly what Detroit would be buying:

    • 69.5 career sacks
    • 133 tackles for loss
    • 164 quarterback hits
    • Relentless snap-to-snap motor
    • Proven durability and leadership

    The Lions already have their defensive cornerstone in Hutchinson. What they don’t yet have is the elite second edge rusher who forces quarterbacks to pick their poison.

    That’s why the Crosby rumors won’t die anytime soon.

    Whether Detroit actually pulls the trigger is another question — but according to ESPN, the Lions are very much in the mix.

  • Geno Smith’s frustration boils over with obscene gesture toward fed-up Raiders fans

    HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — All indications since he joined the Raiders this year are that Geno Smith is popular and well-respected in the locker room, and his interactions with the media have mostly been positive.

    But everyone has a breaking point, and Smith might have reached his on Sunday.

    After he was sacked 10 times in a 24-10 loss to Cleveland and booed from the moment he was introduced, Smith was seen making an obscene gesture toward fans as he left the field. Shortly thereafter, his answers in the postgame news conference were uncharacteristically brief.

    The Raiders pointed to a statement they issued to the Las Vegas Review-Journal regarding the incident with fans.

    “We are disappointed in his actions and have discussed the incident with Geno,” the statement read. “We hold the Raider Nation in the highest regard and take this matter seriously.”

    It’s understandable why Smith is frustrated. This isn’t the kind of season he and coach Pete Carroll envisioned when the Raiders traded with Seattle to land him. Both had success with the Seahawks and had every intention of translating that to Las Vegas.

    Smith even spoke at his introductory news conference of having “unfinished business.”

    But 11 games and an NFL-high 13 interceptions later, his business with the Raiders may be closer to finished. Judging Smith as the starting quarterback is tricky, however, given how inept the offensive line — coached by Carroll’s son, Brennan — has been.

    Smith had virtually no chance against Myles Garrett and the Browns’ pass rush, and as Carroll said Monday regarding the offensive line, “We got the guys we got.”

    But Smith will have a new offensive coordinator and play-caller in Greg Olson, the interim replacement for Chip Kelly, who was fired Sunday night. Maybe Olson, in his third stint as the Raiders’ OC, will find a way to help Smith play better than he has to this point.

    That Carroll has fired two coordinators in the same month — special teams boss Tom McMahon was let go on Nov. 7 — is more than telling. Carroll had never fired a coordinator in-season before he got to Las Vegas.

    “I’m really surprised as well that this has happened, but I think our players deserve it, and our fans deserve that we give them our best shot, and that’s what competing is all about,” Carroll said. “It’s just a very difficult time to have to do this … but we’re 2-9. So, unfortunately, that’s where we are.”

    What’s working

    DE Maxx Crosby. When is he not? Crosby always brings it, in practices or games. He was sensational even by his standards against the Browns, recording a personal-high five tackles for loss. His 19 tackles for loss this season are on pace to surpass the 23 he registered in 2023, when Crosby led the league in that category for the second year in a row. He trails only the 26 by Browns superstar Myles Garrett.

    What needs help

    The offensive line. If T Kolton Miller returns from injury at some point, it will get at least a little better. But any true improvement will have to occur in the offseason. This line might be the NFL’s worst and will need an overhaul. Giving up 10 sacks even to a stellar Browns defensive front is inexcusable, but the lack of pass protection and run blocking is not new.

    Stock up

    Move up the boards. The Raiders are up to fifth in next year’s draft order, and there’s a real chance they won’t win again this season. If Las Vegas loses out, the Raiders could put themselves in line to draft Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and maybe find the franchise quarterback they so desperately need.

    Stock down

    Job security. With two coordinators gone already, no one can feel too comfortable about their future in Las Vegas. That includes Carroll. Massive change figures to come in the offseason, and given how this season is playing out, it would be difficult to argue for the status quo.

    Injuries

    The Raiders got some rare good news with RB Ashton Jeanty (ankle) avoiding serious injury. He is not expected to miss any time. …There is still hope Miller (ankle) will return by the end of the season, but Carroll said his situation was “more week to week” than day to day.

    Key number

    8 — The number of play-callers the Raiders have had since October 2021, including Olson twice.

    Next steps

    The Raiders visit their AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

  • Cowboys trade idea nets $26.5 million pass-rusher ahead of NFL deadline

    The Dallas Cowboys are big-game hunting edge-rushers ahead of the NFL‘s trade deadline, but they may need to settle for a good player instead of a great one.

    Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported on Wednesday that the Cowboys have pursued both Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders and Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals.

    “My sense is that Dallas would be pretty surprised if the Raiders actually moved on from Crosby, with whom owner Mark Davis has a deep affection,” Fowler wrote. “The Cowboys — armed with two first-rounders in 2026 and seven picks in total before compensatory selections — also have looked into Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, whom the Bengals don’t plan to deal.

    “Several other edge-rushers will be available league-wide, so expect the Cowboys to get involved in various talks. They have shown an eagerness to trade for players on rookie deals, which worked out great with [George] Pickens, who is having a contract year for the ages.”

    The big question then becomes if Dallas can’t land an elite player to replace Micah Parsons, who is out there for them? One name that makes considerable sense is that of Jermaine Johnson II, a 26-year-old defensive end and former first-round pick in 2022 (No. 26 overall).

    Matt Bowen of ESPN joined Fowler in authoring a trade column Wednesday that ranked Johnson as the 10th-best player who could potentially move ahead of the deadline, as well as one of the more likely movers with a 35 percent chance of getting traded.

    “An Achilles injury forced Johnson to miss 15 games in 2024, and he had to sit for three earlier this season with an ankle issue,” Bowen wrote. “But when healthy, he has the strength and the lower-body quickness to attack the pocket. Johnson had his best numbers in 2023 (pre-Achilles injury), when he totaled 7.5 sacks and 16 pressures.”

    Johnson, a Pro Bowler in 2023, is in the final year of his $13 million rookie contract. However, the Jets have already exercised the fifth-year team option on his deal for 2026, which is worth $13.4 million for that season.

    Dallas would be in position to get quality value on Johnson over the next year and a half if he remains healthy, at which point the Cowboys could decide on his long-term future with the franchise.

  • Ben Johnson Makes His Thoughts Clear on Maxx Crosby Ahead of Bears-Raiders

    The Chicago Bears are coming off a strong 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

    Now, the team is heading into another tough matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, who are in Year 1 of the Pete Carroll era. While Carroll is a new face to the Raiders franchise, one player who’s long been synonymous with Las Vegas is defensive end Maxx Crobsy. He even has the Raiders logo tattooed on him.

    Ahead of Sunday’s matchup, Bears head coach Ben Johnson opened up about the team’s next opponent and let his feelings out about having to defend a player like Crosby.

    “In my opinion, he’s a top-five player in this league on defense and probably doesn’t get the recognition that he deserves,” Johnson said of Crosby, according to the Raiders’ website. “He’s all over the place, relentless, high motor and you’ve got to account for him and know where he’s at every single snap or else he’ll get ya. He wrecks drives. That’s what he does.”

    Bears quarterback Caleb Williams also got in on the Crosby chatter.

    “He’s Maxx Crosby; he’s something that you need to be aware of for every single play and understand the type of player that he is and how much he can affect the game, how much he does affect a game and a game plan,” Williams added.

    Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle noted that Crosby is a “unique player” and that the Bears are taking him into consideration with their pregame planning.

    “When building a plan, obviously you have to have awareness of where he’s at at all times. He’s a phenomenal player. He plays with great effort,” Doyle said. “That’s the biggest thing about him that shows up on the tape. He’s slippery and you just have to have an awareness and on every single play, you’ve got to have a plan for how we’re going to handle him.”

    Crosby, who was drafted by the Raiders in 2019, has been one of the strongest defensive ends in the league. The Michigan native has clocked 61.5 sacks since joining the NFL. During the offseason, he signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders that includes $91.5 million guaranteed.

    Over the last few years, the Las Vegas Raiders have been full of hope. There have been multiple years that it looked like the franchise could get back to being a potential playoff contender.

    Unfortunately, the disappointment has continued to build. Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Raiders have a new head coach in Pete Carroll and he has brought a new culture to the team. There are legitimate reasons to be excited about the upcoming campaign.

    A big part of their success will be superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

    Crosby has been a leader on the field, but he’s looking to take that leadership a step further. Tom Brady has been influential for him and he spoke out and talked about the biggest thing he has learned from the best quarterback in league history.

    “He’s taught me how to be a better leader,” Crosby said. “He’s showed me, this is what it looked like when I was young, and this is what it looked like in year seven for me. It’s been a constant evolving relationship, and he’s helped me so much, I think mostly in a leadership role, how to bring teammates along, how to push guys, to pull guys in a certain direction.”

    Carroll will need to lean heavily on Crosby. He will need the star defensive end to help his teammates get better around him. That is what he has learned from Brady.

    Learning from one of the best players to ever play the game of football is huge. Not only is Brady one of the best players of all-time, he was also an elite leader. He was the definition of improving players around him.

    Hopefully, that is a role that Crosby can play for the Raiders.

    Last season, Crosby played in 12 games. He racked up 45 tackles to go along with 7.5 sacks and five defended passes. Back in 2023, he totaled 90 tackles, 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and two defended passes.

    Those numbers show a glimpse of what Crosby can do on the field. If he can take his leadership to the next level, he will become a complete player.

    While this is all great news, fans will need to see it on the field. It will be interesting to see what changes Crosby makes this season and how he can bring his teammates up around him throughout the 2025 campaign.

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Raiders entered their matchup against the Browns with the NFL’s worst running game and without star players Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams.

    Plus, Las Vegas was coming off a loss to the previously winless Panthers that drew the ire of coach Antonio Pierce.

    But the Raiders found a balanced running attack and overcame a Cleveland rally to win 20-16 on Sunday.

    “Yeah, a lot of adversity this week, there’s no doubt about it,” Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew said. “I was happy to see how we responded. Coming in Friday’s practice, we kind of turned the corner and the overall mood of the team changed and everybody was feeling really it again.”

    Cleveland drove to the Raiders 9-yard line with the chance to walk out with the victory, but Charles Snowden sacked Deshaun Watson on fourth down with 35 seconds left.

    The Raiders (2-2) found enough offense without star wide receiver Adams (hamstring) and held the Browns to 241 yards without Crosby (ankle).

    “We all had to take a step up,” Snowden said. “I have to thank Maxx. He was engaged all week coaching us up, being a very present figure.”

    Alexander Mattison rushed for 60 yards for the Raiders, who totaled 152 on the ground and had five players with runs of at least 10 yards, their most since 2010 against the Seahawks. The Raiders got rushing touchdowns from receivers Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, becoming the first team since the Jets in 2010 to get two TD runs from wideouts.

    Las Vegas hadn’t rushed for more than 55 yards in a game this season.

    “It felt really good to be able to operate on all cylinders like that to get the run game going,” Mattison said. “The O-line did an amazing job. We have to keep it going because we know what we’re capable of.”

    Minshew was 14 for 24 for 130 yards. He was sacked twice by reigning AP Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who is dealing with an assortment of injuries.

    Watson completed all eight passes in leading the Browns to a touchdown on an opening drive that lasted 9:22, but he finished 24 for 32 for 176 yards.

    He entered the game having taken a league-high 16 sacks, and the Raiders took him down three times. Cleveland’s offensive line was missing four starters for much of the game.

    Although it’s not yet October, the Browns (1-3) took a blow to their playoff chances. Only 42 teams since the 1970 merger have made the postseason after opening 1-3.

    A week earlier, Las Vegas lost 36-22 to the Panthers, prompting Pierce to question some players’ effort. Then the Raiders found themselves in a 10-0 hole in the first quarter.

    Las Vegas scored the next 20 points to seemingly take control.

    “I knew what group I had,” Pierce said. “That wasn’t the team (last week) that we’re accustomed to seeing. It was a trying week. It probably started with me and my comments and I apologized to (the players) for that. I don’t want to be a distraction in that way.”

    Zamir White fumbled on the first play of the fourth quarter, and Browns safety Rodney McLeod returned it for a 25-yard TD to give Cleveland life. Dustin Hopkins missed the extra point, leaving the Browns down 20-16.

    “They had the momentum at that point and we really needed to step up and get a takeaway,” Garrett said. “That’s what we were calling for in the huddle, and we answered the bell. That was an adrenaline shot.”

    Cleveland appeared to take the lead on an 82-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Amari Cooper, but backup center Nick Harris was called for holding, and the Browns eventually punted.

    On their last-gasp drive, with the Browns forced to go for the touchdown, Watson couldn’t attempt a pass on the decisive play.

    Injuries

    Browns: C Ethan Pocic (ankle) went into the locker room in the first quarter, returned in the third and then left again. …. Cleveland was already missing RG Wyatt Teller (knee) and OTs Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee) and Jack Conklin (hamstring). … LB Jordan Hicks (elbow) left in the second quarter. … TE David Njoku (ankle) did not play.

    Raiders: LB Divine Deablo (oblique), T Thayer Munford (knee/ankle), CB Decamerion Richardson (hamstring) and TE Michael Mayer (personal reasons) did not play. … Return specialist Tyreik McAllister (shoulder) was hurt in the fourth quarter.

    While the Super Bowl was the perfect way to kick off the week, Eagles fans received some frightening news on Sunday.

     

    A panic was set in before the big game had even started. Would the Eagles really end up trading their star Defensive End?

    Thankfully on Wednesday, some more information came out on this catastrophic situation.

     

    Reddick himself confirmed that HE was not the one to ask for the trade request. Which asks the question, where did the trade request come from?

    Nothing New From Howie Roseman

    There was more than enough reason to panic. Nothing like hearing your Defensive Player of the Year Finalist could be on a new team soon. But after the news was confirmed that Reddick wasn’t seeking the trade himself. Things began to make more sense, as this isn’t the first time the Eagles have gone about contract negotiations with a potential trade.

    Just days before free agency of the 2023 season started. The Eagles and Darius Slay were in a similar situation. While the Eagles eventually cut Slay at the start of free agency. Only 1 day later, and Slay was back with Philly on a brand new 3 Year, $42 million deal.

    Hopefully if this situation unfolds the same way. Reddick will find himself with a new contract, and a lengthy stay in Philadelphia.

     

    On The Other Side Of The Coin

    But what if the Eagles DID trade Haason Reddick? Currently, Reddick is the 21st highest paid edge rusher(per spotrac). Since joining the Eagles in 2022, let’s see how Reddick compares to some of the highest paid edge rushers.

    With 27.5 Sacks of his own, it’s clear enough that the contract Howie Roseman was able to get Reddick on was a highlight of the 2022 Off-season. Expecting to see an extension somewhere above the $25 Million average, the Eagles could be in an even longer off-season next year with Reddick, Sweat, Smith and Dickerson all due for large contracts.

     

    The Last Huge Edge To Get Traded

    It’s been almost 6 years since the Raiders traded Khalil Mack to the Bears. In his debut season with Chicago he put up 12.5 Sacks in only 14 games! The price to pay for a 27-year old Khalil Mack? Not only was it a 6-year, $141M contract. The Bears also received a 2020 2nd round pick (TE Cole Kmet) and a 2020 7th (OL Arlington Hambright) in the trade. However, Chicago sent 4 draft picks to the then Oakland Raiders which ended up becoming:

    • 2019 1st (RB Josh Jacobs)
    • 2019 6th (CB Blessuan Austin) – This pick was traded to the Jets, which resulted in a 2019 5th (WR Hunter Renfrow)
    • 2020 1st (CB Damon Arnette)
    • 2020 3rd (WR Bryan Edwards)

    At the time of this trade, Mack was 27. However 4 years later, the Bears would get the following when they traded a 30-year old Mack to the Chargers:

    • 2022 2nd (S Jaquan Brisker)
    • 2023 6th (DL Scott Matlock) – This pick was traded back to the Chargers, which resulted in 2 2022 7th’s (S Elijah Hicks & P Trenton Gill)

     

    With 1 season left on Reddick’s contract, the Eagles could end up with a 1st round pick and more. While losing the star edge rusher would leave 862 defensive snaps to fill, the Eagles could stock up on more draft picks and attempt to make a splash on upcoming free agents like Danielle Hunter, Chase Young or Marcus Davenport.

     

    For the record, I’d love to keep Reddick as long as we can. However with him and Josh Sweat due in 2025, sometimes tough choices have to be made.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Las Vegas Raiders were oh-so-close to finally getting the best of the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.

    Then the replay showed close wasn’t good enough.

    Frantically trying to rally his team in the final minute, Derek Carr threw a pretty pass down the sideline to Davante Adams, who already had hauled in touchdown catches of 58 and 48 yards. The standout wide receiver made the grab with less than a minute to go, not only giving the Raiders a first down but putting them in field-goal range position.

    But almost immediately the call went to a video review, and it clearly showed Adams bobbled the ball as he stepped on the white chalk. The ball went back to the Las Vegas side of the field, and an ensuing fourth-and-1 throw was incomplete.

    Final score: Chiefs 30, Raiders 29.

    It was the fourth consecutive loss to the Raiders’ nemesis, and their ninth in their last 10 meetings. They are 1-4 this season.

    “It sucks, what our record is. We’ve earned that,” said Carr, who fell to 1-8 at Arrowhead Stadium. “I just keep reinforcing: We have a good team. I’ve been on some teams that aren’t as good as this one. We’re doing the right things.”

    They did most of the way Monday night, too.

    Josh Jacobs followed a career-best 144 yards rushing and two touchdowns in last week’s win over Denver by running for 154 and a score against the Chiefs. Adams made a mockery of almost everybody who covered him. Maxx Crosby kept harassing Patrick Mahomes, and the rest of the Raiders defense held the vastly improved Kansas City ground game in check.

    Daniel Carlson was once again perfect on three field-goal tries, running his streak to 38 in a row.

    It still wasn’t enough to beat Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who improved to 16-3 against the Raiders since arriving in Kansas City, or Mahomes, who is 8-1 in his career against them.

    “Congratulate the Chiefs. They made a few more plays than we did,” Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said. “I thought our team really battled, played the way we wanted to play, to get in front, play from ahead. Give Andy and his team a lot of credit. They fought back; we knew they would. We thought they would and figured it would be a four-quarter game. They were able to make one more play than we did. So, give them credit. We’ll learn a lot from this. We competed hard tonight.”

    The frustration was still evident as the Raiders left the field, though. Adams roughly pushed what appeared to be a member of the camera crew to the ground as he headed up the Arrowhead Stadium tunnel to the locker room.

    “He jumped in front of me coming off the field. I kind of pushed him. He ended up on the ground,” Adams said later. “I want to apologize to him for that. That was just frustration mixed with him really just running in front of me.

    “I shouldn’t have responded that way, but that’s the way I responded. I want to apologize to him for that.”

    The loss kept the Raiders in last place in the AFC West, a game behind Denver and well behind the Chiefs, who are aiming for their seventh consecutive division title. They have next week off before facing the Texans on Oct. 23, the start of a four-game stretch against non-division opponents that could allow them to climb back in the race.

    “I thought our team battled and gave ourselves an opportunity,” McDaniels said Monday night. “We didn’t make one or two plays there at the end to finish it.”
