  • The Best Fashion Moments From the 2026 Golden Globes Red Carpet

You might still be easing into 2026, but awards season is already out in full force. In a twist from the usual schedule, the calendar kicked off with the Critics’ Choice Awards, and just a week later, it’s time for arguably one of the most fun ceremonies of the season: the Golden Globe Awards.

The Golden Globes celebrate the best in the film and television industry; this year, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another garnered the most nominations for a film with nine, closely followed by Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, which netted eight noms. The White Lotus leads the pack with six television nods, tailed by Adolescence with five.

Tonight, the Golden Globes return to the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, with Nikki Glaser once again taking on hosting duties in a repeat from last year. The 83rd Golden Globe Awards also mark the first time that podcasts will be honored, as this year the show is introducing a Best Podcast category. So far, announced presenters include Amanda Seyfried, Ana de Armas, Ayo Edebiri, Charli XCX, Chris Pine, Colman Domingo, Connor Storrie, Dakota Fanning, Dave Franco, Diane Lane, George Clooney, Hailee Steinfeld, Hudson Williams, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, Joe Keery, Judd Apatow, Julia Roberts, Justin Hartley, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Hart, Kyra Sedgwick, Lalisa Manobal, Luke Grimes, Macaulay Culkin, Marlon Wayans, Melissa McCarthy, Mila Kunis, Miley Cyrus, Minnie Driver, Orlando Bloom, Pamela Anderson, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Sean Hayes, Snoop Dogg, Wanda Sykes, Will Arnett and Zoë Kravitz.

The evening always begins with a dazzling red carpet, when A-list guests arrive in their finest fashions. The Golden Globes tend to offer a more exciting spectacle in terms of style; it’s still a black tie event, but it’s not as buttoned-up as, say, the Academy Awards, which is why it’s one of our favorite red carpets of the entire year. Take a look at all the best, most fashionable moments from the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet.

  • Critics Don’t Think Him Has It

    [ad_1]

    AHS: NFL
    Photo: Universal Pictures/YouTube

If you’ve seen the trippy ads for Him — the new sports thriller from director Justin Tipping and producer Jordan Peele — then you’ve seen the whole movie. At least that appears to be the critical consensus. Reviewers found the film flimsy, doing too much while saying too little. The movie depicts a college athlete (Tyriq Withers) who is taken under the wing of a spooky Svengali all-star QB (Marlon Wayans). At the mentor’s remote compound, the athlete undergoes psychological torture to accompany the grueling physical training. There are many set pieces with striking visuals, until the whole things hurtles towards an unsatisfying ending. In others words, it’s American Horror Story: Football.

Critics did cite certain performances for elevating the material. Marlon Wayans is praised for his intense turn, especially by Rolling Stone: “at least Wayans knows how to lace with toxic irony as things get more unhinged.” Julia Fox was also routinely praised for her turn as Wayans’s kooky influencer wife. But overall, reviews found Him to be a fumble.

Him’s marketing has Jordan Peele’s name all over it as producer, but it was actually directed by Justin Tipping, whose previous feature was the ultrastylized 2016 indie movie Kicks. Tipping has been working in the TV salt mines since then, which might explain why in Him he throws every cinematic trick in the book at us; maybe he needs an outlet for all that creative energy. The movie at times plays like a high-budget student film: It’s eager to impress us with technique.” — Bilge Ebiri, Vulture

“I can’t believe I left the house to see HIM. I can’t believe I took the train for over an hour from the north side of Chicago to downtown to see this movie. I can’t believe I stood in line to buy a soda and popcorn at the theater to see HIM. And I especially can’t believe that I sat through the entirety of this thematically lost movie, allowed it to live in my head on my trip back home, and that I’m currently sitting on my couch writing about it. Putrid and hollow, Justin Tipping’s brain-dead football horror film, which somehow managed to secure the backing of producer Jordan Peele, is incomprehensibly bad.” — Robert Daniels, RogerEbert.com

Him’s marketing campaign suggests something akin to a religious experience with its wannabe star quarterback posing as some sort of Christ-on-the-cross-like figure in the ads with the tagline, ‘Greatness demands sacrifices.’ I would add, ‘Movies demand coherence.’” — Pete Hammond, Deadline

HIM ultimately takes all of these elements and throws them rapidly downfield at what feels like the most unfocused attempt at a socially resonant, allegory-heavy genre movie in ages. Anyone who thinks that the notion of a sports league centered around the financial exploitation of Black athletes and physical exploitation of Black bodies for gladiatorial entertainment, all overseen by rich, white team owners, would make for a compelling horror film will find that there’s a serious gap between conception and execution here.” — David Fear, Rolling Stone

“The sports-centric thriller occasionally verges on horror territory, but it never tips over into the eerie (let alone the terrifying) despite numerous attempts. While it has a few fun visual flourishes, it’s a barely-competent movie, held together only by its lead performers who function less like MVPs and more like an injured athlete’s sports tape.” — Siddhant Adlakha, IGN

‘HIM’ | Anatomy of a Scene

The director Justin Tipping narrates a scene from “HIM,” featuring Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers.

“Hi, My name is Justin Tipping and I’m the director of “HIM.” “I’m going to need a little volunteer.” Mr. White. I got you. “My man!” This is the moment in the film where Isaiah White, played by Marlon Wayans, is going to teach Cameron Cade, played by Tyriq Withers a lesson in how to be a great quarterback. In this lesson, I did a lot of research about quarterback drills that hone in on specific skills. For example, in a pro game, you want to be able to get the ball out of your hands under two seconds. So that’s why we have two seconds on the clock and to work on that speed that’s required of decision making. That’s why he’s turned away from the actual receivers. He has his eyes closed. So that you’re forced into a panic-like situation, and you have to throw the ball as quickly as possible. So what I really wanted to communicate in this scene specifically, was that there’s going to be a big tonal shift from something’s off to something’s very wrong, and it’s the first time we’re going to introduce violence and a dynamic between the two characters that becomes much more like a narcissistic, abusive relationship than a mentor-mentee “Too slow.” But seed it and bury that under the guise of hazing and just being a rookie. And what I landed on was this idea of using this JUGS machine to be that conduit of punishment. I also didn’t want him to have time to process anything. That’s why I kind of try to get music and a rhythm going in the edit. And even the sound design is rhythmic. That vibration and metallic clanking, it escalates and grows and grows over this entire sequence. And then we have these really tight, extreme close-ups of Cameron Cade’s eyes. And that was just a creative choice I made to rely on the language of horror, where there’s a classic peekaboo.

  • Jordan Peele Produced Newest Thriller, HIM is Out In Theatres

    [ad_1]

Attendees were also treated to a photo experience. Photo by Noah Washington/The Atlanta Voice

Football has long stood as one of America’s most resilient institutions, celebrated for its grit, glory, and larger-than-life heroes. But behind the spectacle of packed stadiums and primetime broadcasts are questions about the costs of chasing greatness; questions that Him, the Jordan Peele-produced supernatural psychological sports horror film, places at the center of its story. As the NFL continues to face scrutiny over player safety, fan fanaticism, and the immense pressures placed on young athletes, Him uses the lens of horror to peel back the layers of America’s game, asking what sacrifices lie hidden beneath the pursuit of football immortality.

Few sports carry the cultural weight of football, where the pigskin is more than leather and laces; it symbolizes community, sacrifice, and sometimes obsession. The film, distributed and produced by Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, twists that symbol into something darker, asking: What price must be paid to hold the ball, and who decides who is worthy of greatness?

Directed by Justin Tipping and co-written with Skip Bronkie and Zack Akers, Him opens Sept. 19. The film follows Cameron “Cam” Cade (Tyriq Withers), a promising athlete whose career nearly ends after an obsessed fan attacks him. Just as hope slips away, Cade’s idol, legendary quarterback Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), invites him to train at his private compound. Over the course of several days, that mentorship devolves into something more sinister as Cade uncovers the rituals and manipulation behind White’s storied career.

Photo by Noah Washington/The Atlanta Voice

Withers is freshly coming off, I know what you did last summer, which was released earlier this year, and is most recognized for his role as Aaron in Donald Glover’s Atlanta. Wayans, long known for his comedic chops in films like White Chicks and Scary Movie, takes a dramatic turn as White, showcasing his best audition as The Joker, portraying the quarterback as both mentor and the ultimate gaslighter. His performance transforms the archetype of the celebrated athlete into a manipulative figure who uses Cade’s ambition against him. Julia Fox, recognized for her role in Uncut Gems, stars as White’s wife Elsie, a social media influencer who is more involved in the game than what is initially presented.

The cast also includes comedian Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), stand-up comic Jim Jefferies, and Don Benjamin as Cade’s father.

The screenplay began life as Goat, referencing both the sports acronym “greatest of all time” and the sacrificial undertones at the heart of the story. That metaphor runs throughout the film. Football fandom, often fueled by rituals, devotion, and near-religious fervor, becomes a backdrop for exploring how easily ambition and obsession can tip into fanaticism. For Cade, every pass and play with White isn’t just practice, it’s initiation into a cycle where chasing glory may demand more than sweat.

With a score by composer Bobby Krlic (Midsommar) and a soundtrack featuring new music from Jean Dawson, Guapdad 4000, and Tierra Whack, Him blends sports, horror, and surrealism into a cautionary tale. It plays like a public service announcement for parents wary of football’s toll, a reminder that the pursuit of “GOAT” status can come with a price no trophy can justify.

Marlon Wayans has been talking up what’s in store for Scary Movie 6and according to him, the series’ trademark crass humor will target any and everyone.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, he hyped up the upcoming horror-comedy flick as a “no holds barred and equal opportunity offender. We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.” While skewering well-known movies like The Exorcist and War of the Worlds, earlier installments had jokes you probably felt bad about laughing at back then (if you did laugh). This is, after all, how the Wayans got popular back in the day, something he noted by highlighting White Chicks making fun of “Black people, white people, [and] Hispanic people. That’s just what we do.”

If that has your hackles raised, don’t worry: Wayans insisted it’s all the jabs have been done with love, and hoped the jokes in Scary Movie 6 reflect how comedy has evolved in the time since the movies first came out, and acknowledged not every joke is going to totally land. Still, he argued “you have to acknowledge how comedy has changed. Not just horror, but films have changed, the audience has changed, the world has shifted,” he explains. “I think the way to do that is to make the generational gap part of the conversation. […] Just know that we’re not just laughing at you, you get the chance to laugh at others.”

Mainstream goofy comedies got a resurgence with the success of The Naked Gun back in August, and Wayans is hopeful Scary Movie 6 can continue that trend while working as “a great conversation piece that [lets us] sit down and laugh together, over three generations of people who haven’t had great comedy in a long time.”

Scary Movie 6 hits theaters on June 12, 2026.

Y’all Here For It? The ‘Scary Movie’ Franchise Is Reportedly Making Its Return

Roomies, the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise is reportedly making its return.

Here’s What Was Reported About The ‘Scary Movie’ Franchise & Its Return

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount unveiled its plans for the franchise’s return at CinemaCon on Thursday, April 11. The company has reportedly teamed up with production and distribution company Miramax for the “new take on the franchise.”

Additionally, the outlet reports Miramax “will finance” the franchise’s sequel while “Paramount will distribute.”

Furthermore, the outlet adds that Neal H. Moritz, the producer for the ‘Fast & Furious film franchise, will produce the latest ‘Scary Movie.’

Lastly, it remains unclear whether the sequel will feature the franchise’s original stars, have an entirely new cast, or a mix of original and new actors. PEOPLE notes that the franchise’s initial film, which was released in 2000, starred actors such as Regina Hall, Anna Faris, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans.

Paramount reportedly did not share a release date for the sequel, per The Hollywood Reporter. However, the latest installment in the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

Reboot Reports About THIS Television Show Also Surfaced Earlier This Month

Fans of the television series and movies from the early 2000s also received more good news earlier this month. As The Shade Room previously reported, production company 51 Minds revealed its plans to reboot the former competitive dating series, ‘Flavor of Love.’

The show aired between 2006 and 2008 and has spawned viral, meme-able moments that still keep the internet in a chokehold to date.

Ultimately, the company revealed that production is working with the show’s former bachelor, Flavor Flav, to “reimagine” the series.

“We’re in the process of working with Flavor Flav to reimagine what Flavor of Love can feel like in this in this decade, which is very different. The project is really fun, a comedy in the dating space,” Julie Pizzi, President of Bunim/Murray Productions and 51 Minds, explained to Deadline earlier this month.

However, they are adding a twist this time around.

Marlon Wayans stopped by The Breakfast Club to promote his latest stand-up comedy special, “Good Grief.” During the interview, he revealed that he wanted to get even more personal in his future stand-up comedy specials and dedicate the next one to his trans son, Kai.

The special titled “Skittles” or “Rainbow Child” would be about his “daughter who transitioned to a son.”

“My daughter Amai (Wayans) is now Kai and so I talk about the transition – now their transition – by my transition as a parent going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance. I think there’s a lot of parents out there that need to have that message and I know I’m dealing with it,” he said.

“It was a very painful situation for me, but man it’s one of the best funniest hours I probably could ever imagine.”

Of course, being the comedian that he is, he joked with his daughter about the decision saying, “‘N***a you transitioning into your brother! You look just like him!’ I can’t tell the difference between her and Shawn. I swear to God.”

It’s no secret that Marlon is a proud supporter of the LGBTQIA community. He has always made an effort to show up and gracefully love his child out loud. The comedian and actor took to Instagram to wish his son a heartfelt birthday. The tribute thanked Kai for teaching him how to love people unconditionally.

“Happiest bday my baby… daddy loves you to the moon and back. I’ve always asked people to love me unconditionally, thank you for teaching me what that really means. Be you! Your best you! You’re the gift and I’m wrapping paper… love love love you for life. Excuse my ignorance, chalk it up to growth. Love you so much, thank you for making me a man. So proud. 🌈” he wrote.

The first time Marlon opened up about his son was back in 2019 when he took to Instagram during Pride Month to show love and support. Unfortunately, the post was met with much criticism and backlash.

He wrote, “Happy pride 🌈 to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun, through the galaxies, and back again.”

One user wrote, “Another brother from Hollywood who failed his kids🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️.” However, not all feedback was negative! Some users opened up and expressed their gratitude for the support of the community.

Be on the lookout for the release of Marlon Wayans’ stand-up comedy special, “Good Grief,” dropping soon!

Marlon Wayans Cited For Disturbing The Peace Over Luggage Dispute

    [ad_1]

DENVER (AP) — Comedian and actor Marlon Wayans was cited for disturbing the peace after a dispute he said he had with a United Airlines employee over carry-on luggage at the Denver airport last week, police said Monday.

Wayans said on Instagram that a gate agent told him he had too many bags and, despite consolidating his luggage, he was told he would have to gate check his bag rather than carry it on. Wayans, who said his treatment constituted harassment, said he took his ticket and began walking onto the plane.

In response to questions about what had occurred, United issued a statement that did not refer to Wayans by name.

“In Denver on Friday, a customer who had been told he would have to gate-check his bag instead pushed past a United employee at the jet bridge and attempted to board the aircraft. The customer did not fly on United to his destination,” it said.

Wayans said he booked a flight instead on American Airlines to Kansas City, saying he would rather fly coach on another airline than fly first-class on United. He apologized to his fans in Kansas City for missing a performance.

“Sorry KC I’m gonna miss tonight’s shows due to a United gate agent who probably hated white chicks,” Wayans said on Twitter, referring to his 2004 movie which also starred his brother Shawn Wayans.

A spokesperson for Wayans, Leslie Sloane, said Wayans had a backpack, a small carry-on and garment bag with a suit jacket in it and put his backpack inside the garment bag but was still told he had to check his bag on a flight that was not full.

She said it’s important to Wayans that everyone feels safe and respected when flying, no matter what class they are in.

“He felt none of that,” she said.

The citation issued to Wayans says he must appear in court in Denver on July 11.

  • ‘Daily Show’ Guest Host Marlon Wayans Spots GOP Pol’s Weird ‘Thirst Trap’ Excuse

‘Daily Show’ Guest Host Marlon Wayans Spots GOP Pol’s Weird ‘Thirst Trap’ Excuse

    [ad_1]

Or as Wayans put it in his Thursday night monologue: “An anti-gay Republican just got caught in a thirst trap.”

Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, who has supported laws targeting the LGBTQ community, has been commenting on a 20-year-old man’s “thirst trap” pics, including comments such as “love it” and clapping emojis.

When the story broke, a spokesperson for McNally fired back:

“Trying to imply something sinister or inappropriate about a great-grandfather’s use of social media says more about the mind of the left-wing operative making the implication than it does about Randy McNally.”

    Wayans wasn’t convinced.

“I love his excuse, though. His excuse is he’s a great-grandfather,” the comic/actor said. “That doesn’t make it better. The worse part is you know he probably called his grandson in to teach him how to use Instagram.”

Wayans then did an impression of exactly that:
