    Tamarac Vice Mayor Marlon D. Bolton was honored as one of South Florida’s 50 Most Influential and Powerful Black Professionals for 2020 in Legacy South Florida’s Power Issue. This annual list of leaders is also published in the Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald.

    “I am absolutely floored and grateful. To be named among the great men and women honored on this list is a dream come true,” Bolton said. 

    Vice Mayor Bolton was elected as Tamarac District 1 Commissioner in 2016 and appointed Vice Mayor in 2019. He is also the Lead Pastor of the Praise Experience Church of North Lauderdale and a County Court Mediator, certified by the Florida Supreme Court. He serves on a number of boards, including the Broward County Community Action Agency, the National Black Caucus of Local and Elected Officials and the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport’s Aviation Advisory Board.

    Vice Mayor Bolton has a bachelor’s degree in public safety management and is pursuing a master’s degree in criminal justice at Florida International University.

    The City of Tamarac is hosting a Medical Marijuana Summit on Thursday, February 20, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd.

    Learn about the health benefits and risks associated with the use of medical marijuana, how it’s different than CBD products, how and where dispensaries are operated, and regulatory requirements they have to follow.  

    Tamarac’s Vice Mayor Marlon D. Bolton will facilitate presentations and a panel discussion. Speakers and panelists will include the following experts:

    • Seth A. Hyman, President/CEO, Hempagenix
    • Arby Barroso, Co-founder, Green Roads
    • Dustin Robinson, Founding Partner, Mr. Cannabis Law
    • Daniel Sparks, Director of Compliance, Trulieve
    • Jeff Greene, VP of Marketing, the Florida Hemp Council
    • Maxine Calloway, Community Development Director, City of Tamarac

    Marlon D. Bolton, elected as the City’s District 1 Commissioner in 2016, has been selected to serve a one-year term as Tamarac’s Vice Mayor.

    “I’m honored that my peers on the Commission selected me to fulfill this role and to be the City’s first black vice mayor and the youngest to ever fill this position,” said Vice Mayor Bolton. “My goal is to use the knowledge I’ve garnered as an elected official and in my professional life to work with my colleagues to bring my mission: “one Tamarac, one vision, forward in unity’ to reality.”

    Vice Mayor Bolton serves on a number of boards, including the Broward County Community Action Agency and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport’s Aviation Advisory Board. He is also active with the National Black Caucus of Local and Elected Officials and the National and Florida League of Cities.

    During his tenure as a Commissioner, he has served on the Youth Leadership Committee of the Broward League of Cities, the Municipal Administration Committee of the Florida League of Cities and the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee of the National League of Cities.

    In addition to his public service, Bolton is the Lead Pastor at the Praise Experience Church of North Lauderdale and a County Court Mediator, certified by the Florida Supreme Court. Vice Mayor Bolton holds degrees in Communications and Public Safety Management and he is pursuing a master’s degree in criminal justice at Florida International University.
