Rowing Blazers x Target Is the Colorful Collab We Needed For Fall

It’s widely known that Target has mastered the art of collaboration. With a track record spanning more than two decades, the retailer’s history of partnering with designers began in 1999 with the renowned American architect Michael Graves — and it’s been a hit ever since. Who can forget the frenzy surrounding the Lily Pulitzer line in 2019? Anna Sui’s “Gossip Girl”-inspired line? Or the triple designer revelation in 2021, featuring Rixo, Alexis, and Christopher John Rogers? Target’s knack for surprises continues as they unveil their latest venture: a partnership with the timeless American clothing brand Rowing Blazers.

The upcoming limited-edition fall collection arrives just in time for the academic year, seamlessly fusing contemporary trends with iconic preppy styles. Don’t worry, though; when it comes to catering to your unique taste, rest assured you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. The Rowing Blazers x Target collaboration boasts an impressive array of over 100 vibrant, sport-inspired pieces catering to individuals of all ages. From adults to kids, the collection spans apparel and accessories, encompassing rugby shirts, crewnecks, blazers, trousers, and jackets, as well as home, outdoor play, and even options for your four-legged friends.

Sizes will range from XXS to 5X and, per usual, affordability takes center stage. Prices will start as low as $5, and the majority of items will be priced under $30. For context, most of Rowing Blazers’s clothing goes for over $100, which is just one reason why this collaboration is so major. We already spot plaid pieces similar to the Rowing Blazers Indian Madras Camp Shirt and matching Madras shorts, as well as graphic sweaters like the “I’m a Luxury” Sweater famously worn by Princess Diana.

If the photos accurately preview what’s ahead, we’re in for a treat. One snapshot reveals a green velvet hat with the Rowing Blazers logo, a striped football, a chevron paddleball set, and blue-and-white dinnerware plates. Another showcases models donning graphic sweaters, cropped polo shirts, lively outerwear, and captivating patchwork plaid silhouettes.

Excited? Us, too. Make sure to circle early September on your calendar, because that’s when the full Rowing Blazers X Target lookbook will be revealed. While the exact date for its release is yet to be announced, mark your calendars for the official availability on Sunday, Sept. 23, while supplies last.

Keep scrolling to shop our favorite Rowing Blazers pieces and stay tuned for more details on their collaboration with Target as they’re announced.

This probably is no secret to you, but cargo pants are proving themselves as one of the most highly covetable trends for this season and next. So it’s no surprise that Old Navy’s womenswear offerings are stocked with them. As someone who prefers adaptable styles to workwear-inspired designs, I was thrilled when I came across the High-Waisted StretchTech Wide-Leg Cargo Pants ($40) in the brand’s new arrivals section. The retailer describes them as “sleek” and “endlessly versatile,” which was music to my ears. I swiftly added the beige color dubbed “A Stone’s Throw” to my shopping — here’s my honest review on whether you should scoop them up, too.

What I Love About the Old Navy High-Waisted StretchTech Wide-Leg Cargo Pants

What I love most about these cargo pants is that they can be dressed up or down. I teamed them with my go-to white ribbed crop top and sandals to work from home, but I think they’d look just as good with a more elevated ensemble for a day (or night) on the town, like a thong heel and a coordinating cardigan set.

I’m also a big fan of their details. They boast on-seam hip pockets, a generously-sized flap-cargo pocket on the left thigh, and adjustable drawcord hems — a convenient feature to cinch tightly or untie according to your chosen footwear. And lastly, the material choice leaves me thoroughly impressed. The lightweight and quick-drying fabric is comfortable even on hot summer days.

What’s Worth Noting About the Old Navy High-Waisted StretchTech Wide-Leg Cargo Pants

What’s worth noting about these cargo pants is that they run big, to the extent that they were slipping off my waist. I cinched the drawstring super tight while testing them, but determined I’m better off exchanging them for a size small. While they might look normal in the accompanying photos, please note that I pulled them so tightly that it’s placing stress on the waistband fabric. (Please note that they’re not supposed to have a rippled look.)

Shoppers agree that they’re bigger than expected. One person who gave them a five-star rating deemed them “super comfy and versatile” but advised following my lead and going down a full size. Also, reviewers have consistently labeled the fit as “loose,” a trend prominently highlighted on the website’s product page (see the screenshot below).

Who Are the Old Navy High-Waisted StretchTech Wide-Leg Cargo Pants for?

These cargos are best for those who want to partake in the cargo trend but want a versatile pair that can be dressed up or down. They’re great for those searching for a lightweight, silky silhouette that transitions seamlessly from summer to fall or spring.

Additional Details About the Old Navy High-Waisted StretchTech Wide-Leg Cargo Pants

    • They come in extended sizing, particularly tall and petite. Regular sizes range from XS-4X.

I’m a huge fan of rib-knit tops, and it seems like the rest of the world shares this sentiment. They’re undeniably trending for 2023 and it’s hard to find a retailer that doesn’t offer them. Some of my favorites come from Aritzia, but I’ve recently been trying to expand my horizons with styles from other labels, one part for the sake of my bank account and the other: science. This quest brought me to the Old Navy new arrivals section, where I stumbled upon the Old Navy Rib-Knit Sweater Tank Top ($30, originally $35), featuring a chic square neckline and defined ribbed detailing. It’s only been a few days since it landed on the site, yet it’s not-so-quietly become a shopper favorite, evidenced by its near-perfect five-star rating. Intrigued by the hype, I decided to try it and added the sky-blue version, “Rock Pool,” to my virtual shopping cart. Find out more about why I fell in love with it ahead.

What I Love About the Old Navy Rib-Knit Sweater Tank Top

What captivates me the most about the Old Navy Rib-Knit Sweater Tank Top is its exceptional quality. I was pleasantly surprised by its thickness and opacity, giving it a substantial and non-sheer look that feels truly luxurious. Despite its added weight, it remains incredibly comfortable, making it a versatile piece for the summer season. (I’m currently wearing it with a pair of denim shorts, and it’s perfect!)

One of the most exciting things about it is that there are silhouettes to match. In addition to the tank top, I also picked up the V-Neck Rib-Knit Cropped Cardigan ($40, originally $45), and I noticed they have a Rib-Knit Midi Skirt ($40, originally $45) that’s perfect for those who love planning their cozy-chic fall wardrobe in advance. The cardigan is just as soft and luxurious as the tank top, promising a delightful pairing. Although it might be too warm to wear the cardigan right now, I highly recommend getting it while it’s still in stock to complete the look.

What’s Worth Noting About the Old Navy Rib-Knit Sweater Tank Top

As of the time of writing, it’s no surprise that this tank top boasts predominantly five-star ratings. One standout feature worth mentioning is its adjustable straps, which I and many other shoppers found super convenient. I personally ordered a size medium and opted for the “tall” length, and I was delighted to find that I could easily tighten the straps to their tightest setting for a perfect fit. The adjustability adds an extra level of comfort and customization to the already highly covetable qualities of this tank top.
