Want To Actually Achieve Your Goals? Get Angry, Research Says

    [ad_1]

For this study, researchers wanted to better understand the role of anger in achieving goals. To do so, they conducted a series of experiments with over 1,000 participants, as well as analyzed separate data from over 1,400 other respondents.

The experiments involved having participants feel different emotions, ranging from amusement, to sadness, to anger, to neutral, by showing them different visuals. Then, the participants would be presented with different challenges, such as word puzzles, video games, etc.

As far as the data analyzed, the researchers looked at surveys from recent U.S. presidential elections on voting and the anger participants felt around the election.

In both instances, anger proved to make a difference in people’s behaviors—and how well they reached their goals. Namely, anger improved people’s ability to reach their goals in the game experiments, and was sometimes even linked with shorter response times. These beneficial effects of anger were more significant when the goals were more challenging.

And in the election survey, the participants who said they would be angry if their candidate didn’t win were more likely to vote. “These findings demonstrate that anger increases effort toward attaining a desired goal, frequently resulting in greater success,” explains lead author Heather Lench, Ph.D. in a news release.

Start Connecting With Your Inner Child With This Practice

    [ad_1]

This evening, without expectation or judgment, close your eyes and spend some time imagining yourself as a child again. Choose an age you remember at least fairly well, or an event that you recall experiencing before you went through puberty. Just remember. What details can you identify about your surroundings, the other people present, and your sense of self? What did your reality feel like? What did it feel like before you had to earn a living, before you had your own family, adult friends, and adult life filled with responsibilities?

Let yourself live inside this memory for a while and see what comes up intuitively for you. Try to identify at least one feeling related to this experience that you would like to recapture. Is there anything you feel you’ve lost, a point of view you forgot you used to have, or a feeling you could re-experience?

  • Jade Crystal: Healing Properties, How To Work With It & More

Jade Crystal: Healing Properties, How To Work With It & More

    [ad_1]

It’s important to understand what jade actually is—and what it’s not—because according to Ashley Leavy, founder and educational director of the Love and Light School of Crystal Therapy, there are a lot of fakes out there, and a lot of stones are often called jade when they’re not jade at all.

As she tells mindbodygreen, authentic jade can technically be one of two different materials: nephrite jade, or jadeite. “Jadeite is made up of small, granular crystals, [whereas] nephrite jade has more of a fibrous inner structure, which when polished can sometimes give it a bit of a silky appearance,” she notes. Jade can also come in a range of colors, from green, to black, to lavendar, and even sometimes blue, she tells mindbodygreen.

“So either one of those minerals is considered true jade,” Leavy explains, adding that this stone is highly sought after and has a rich history around the world.

In ancient China, for instance, it was used to assist loved ones passing into the afterlife, and had similar uses in ancient Mesoamerica. “Particularly in Central America, like in Guatemala, we see a lot of jade artifacts associated with the deceased, so it’s really interesting that even though these cultures were very far apart and distance, jade was being used in similar ways by ancient people,” she says.

Nowadays, jade has become a popular crystal all around the world, and is still most sought after and revered in China, according to Leavy, where it has traditionally been associated with health, longevity, prosperity, and power.

  • How To Actually Manifest Money, From Someone Who’s Done It

How To Actually Manifest Money, From Someone Who’s Done It

    [ad_1]

Manifestation is the act of becoming aware of something that is already there. It’s personal growth and development combined with spirituality, and it can help you achieve your financial dreams. By connecting spirit, mind, and body as one, you can manifest the experience you desire today, including monetarily.

When people ask me how to manifest, I always say it’s not about the how, it’s more about the who—who you are. It has more to do with how you see yourself, how you see others, and how you perceive and interact with your world. If you want a different life, then you need to think, feel and behave differently.

Manifestation is always at work—we’re always bringing something into the physical form through our thoughts. But most people are actually just manifesting their biggest fears (i.e. their worries about their business not growing and their need for more money), which creates more need for more money.

And when it comes to specific ways to manifest money, unfortunately, there isn’t a magic wand or specific phrase that will bring an abundance of money to you. However, it is pretty simple: Manifesting money happens within you.

While manifestation has become a trendy topic thanks to social media, I believe some areas of manifestation are often misleading and misunderstood. For example, a specific color or mantra doesn’t exactly attract money, rather it comes down to our feelings around manifesting money and taking the proper steps to bring manifestation into your life.

9 Effective Ways To Manifest Someone, According To Experts

    [ad_1]

Affirmations are phrases that state what energy we would like to embody in the present moment. “I am…” statements are the most common, but they can take other forms like “I will…” or “I believe…”

Simply reciting these affirmations alone will not manifest someone into your life, but by grounding these statements in the present tense, you’re acknowledging that your highest self is already here, within. (Versus if you continue to speak in the future sense, which creates distance between yourself and your manifestations.)

Be sure that affirmations are still realistic, too. As Chan explains, “If your brain actually doesn’t believe [the affirmation], it inherently rejects it as true. It could actually do more damage. So you never want to go with the total opposite of what you believe. Start with something closer to the truth.”

For example, rather than saying a definitive affirmation like, “I am in the best relationship of my life,” try “I attract loving relationships into my life.”

  • Why Every Planet Moving Direct Is A Big Astrological Deal

Why Every Planet Moving Direct Is A Big Astrological Deal

    [ad_1]

OK, so there’s no planets in retrograde for the next few months. But why does that actually matter for us? For one thing, it means that the themes and areas of life each of the planets govern will be moving ahead full steam, as opposed to thwarting our progress.

And according to the AstroTwins, we can also thank Uranus moving direct through Taurus for a bit of a material boost. “Bottlenecked plans with work and money could pick up speed again—stay on your toes!” the twins note.

Not only that, but risk-taker Jupiter (the planet of expansion, luck, and abundance) is in Aries until May 16. As the twins explain, this means you have all the planetary permission you need to step on the gas.

So, if your New Year’s resolutions didn’t get off on the right foot, have no fear. In fact, the twins say that the first few weeks of January were better suited for evaluating your options anyway. Once all the planets are direct, according to them, “You can confidently choose your 2023 direction and go.”

  • How To Work With This Week’s Last Quarter Moon In Libra

How To Work With This Week’s Last Quarter Moon In Libra

    [ad_1]

The month’s upcoming quarter moon falls on January 14 at 9:10 pm EDT. As you may know, new moons are a time to set intentions and start on projects or goals, while full moons are a time to release what’s not working. With any last quarter moon between the full and new, then, the emphasis is still on releasing, so you have a clean slate by the time the new moon arrives. (Which happens on January 21, BTW.)

And in the case of this month’s last quarter moon, it will fall in Libra, a sign all about balance, peace, and justice. Meanwhile, the sun is moving through its last leg of Capricorn season already, and Mercury is retrograde (until January 18) in Capricorn as well.

Luckily, Mars is finally out of its retrograde period—and in the sign of Gemini—forming a harmonious trine with the moon in fellow air sign, Libra. With Mars direct once more, we may have a newly emboldened urge to tackle what we’ve been putting off. While the red planet was retrograde, things were definitely moving slow, and you may notice your energy and motivation coming back full force.

The planet of love and beauty, Venus, will also be trining the moon as it falls in air sign Aquarius, which is favorable energy for smooth relationship sailing—just keep in mind that Mercury is still retrograde for just a bit longer, so we do still want to think before we speak and double check everything.

  • A Trick Will Make Your Vision Board Work Even More Effectively

A Trick Will Make Your Vision Board Work Even More Effectively

    [ad_1]

“We’re bombarded with so much information,” Swart says. “This has been the case for a long time, but if you read a copy of the New York Times today, you would receive as much information from that one newspaper as somebody would in their entire lifetime 100 years ago, and even then, they were overly bombarded with information,” she adds.

Vision boards help your brain sift through that information and home in on exactly what it is that you want. Your brain’s natural filtering mechanism ensures that you don’t notice things that aren’t relevant to your survival; however, in modern times, you may actually need to pay closer attention to those stimuli.

The next mechanism, Swart explains, is selective attention, which means that you start to notice things in your daily life that you already have on your vision board. “It’s like when you buy a new car, and you suddenly see it everywhere,” she says. “It’s basically priming your brain to notice opportunities that will take you closer to your goals.”

Finally, you have value tagging. The brain does this in two ways, Swart says, including a cold or logical way and in a warm or emotional way. Your survival necessities fall into the logical tagging, while more emotional things (like those on your vision board) fall into the latter tagging.

“By repeatedly exposing your brain to these images, you’re priming it to not just notice but also grasp the opportunities that will take you closer to what you want,” she says. “That’s why I call vision boards ‘action boards’ because I don’t believe that you can create this fantasy image and sit at home and wait for it to come true,” she adds. “I believe that you need to be out there networking, dating, whatever it is, to get the things that you want.”

  • 3 Crucial Misconceptions About Manifestation

    3 Crucial Misconceptions About Manifestation

    [ad_1]

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

I bet you’re sick of being told that: “you can manifest anything your heart desires…if you just buy this twelve-step program!” There are many people out there who prey upon our common misconceptions about manifesting and the law of attraction.

    It’s big business!

Life Coaching has been the second-largest growth industry in the US for twelve consecutive years and is estimated to be worth around $2 billion!

It is no wonder that people will do anything to “bottle” this information and sell it to a market. How do you know what you’re being sold is the truth, though? It’s very easy to palm off any shortfall as a result of something you did wrong.

Here, then, are three common misconceptions about manifesting and the law of attraction. By bringing these to your awareness, you’ll have a better idea of whether or not a particular practice, program or modality is right for you.

Related: How Meditation Can Transform Your Business

    1. Manifesting is a purely passive process

Whenever I see someone tell a tale of how they wrote themselves a check and stuck it on the fridge, only for them to receive a million dollars sometime later (Jim Carrey, I’m looking at you), it gets my back up.

Not that this isn’t possible, but it paints a picture of this being the only necessary action. Worse yet, some claim that meditation or prayer is all that is required. “Focus on what you want. Hold it in your mind’s eye, and it will appear for you!!”

No! These are all beneficial practices — please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying, but only so far as they better inform your actions.

Without taking any action — nothing is going to show up for you. Per definition: when something manifests itself, it simply makes itself known to the physical world. This could be climate change, an electoral outcome or a million dollars landing in your account.

The point is that these things already existed, and the moment they became a physical reality is what we call “manifesting.” Action is still very much required.

Related: Stop Planning and Take Action

    2. The cookie-cutter approach

This is a huge reason why so many of these programs “fail” to work for the vast majority of people who buy them. It’s not that they don’t work, but they only work for the creator of the program and anyone else who just so happens to be already aligned with it.

Very few actually take the time to recognize that we are all individuals and tailor themselves accordingly.

If you come across any such program that doesn’t start by trying to get you to analyze who you are and what you’re about: don’t bother. You’ll most likely hit a brick wall and give up under the misconception that it must be your fault for “not getting it.”

Related: 11 Mindset Traits of Successful Entrepreneurs

    3. Manifesting and the law of attraction are purely esoteric and mystical practices

This is nonsense. There is a lot of scientific data, research and theory to back up our ability to manifest or attract consciously chosen outcomes in our life.

Even anecdotally, if you cast your mind back to something you set your mind to, however mundane it may seem, you already know how it works. It could be as simple as thinking you want a cup of coffee. All the actions required to manifest that coffee in your hands are simple, but you still have to go through them.

The same is true of becoming a millionaire. The steps might be more complicated (or not), but the process is the same.

In the case of manifesting a million bucks: the problem most folks have is that they’ve never done it. You’ve made coffee before; that’s why when you get up from your desk and embark upon the ‘journey’ to barista town, none of it overwhelms you.

You’ve made coffee before — more times than you can count. So manifesting yet another flat white causes no anxiety whatsoever.

However, things get tricky when it comes to generating sums of money that are outside of the usual purview. You’ve never done it before, and you know that most haven’t either. You’re in uncharted territory, and your subconscious ‘lizard brain’ does not like it!

It’s a subject for another day, but suffice it to say: your subconscious has one job to do, keeping you safe. Though prehistoric, it doesn’t understand logic or language and operates on the assumption that change equals danger. It is this that the unscrupulous prey upon.

They know full well that you’ve never made a million dollars or found the love of your life. If you had, you wouldn’t need their course after all. They can exploit this to get themselves and their programs off the hook by essentially insinuating that you “just didn’t get it.”

    Don’t be fooled.

Instead, recognize just how mundane the law of attraction is and how much of an everyday occurrence manifesting is. You can create a dream life as assuredly as making that cup of coffee.

15 Crystals For Manifesting + How To Use Them, From Experts

    [ad_1]

It’s important to mention here that simply adding a crystal to your collection isn’t going to magically make your wishes come true. And as Leavy tells mbg, she actually finds the modern interest in crystals and manifesting slightly problematic.

“A lot of nuance is lost when it comes to talking about manifestation, and it’s become this very surface level conversation about getting stuff or having your life like look or be or feel a certain way,” she tells mbg, adding that true manifestation involves realizing that wanting something or asking for something alone can’t necessarily create it—and neither can just working with a crystal.

“The way that we’re best able to manifest things in our lives is working in communities lifting each other up,” she notes.

But in terms of using crystals to help aid in your manifestations, she says, think of it as a supportive, complementary practice to help keep you in alignment with your vision. “It’s about supporting us to be more in alignment with our vision for ourselves and our vision for our lives,” she explains.

And some of the best ways to do that, according to her, include making a crystal grid in a communal space, whether in your home, office, or elsewhere.

Wearing your crystal as jewelry, especially somewhere you’ll see it frequently such as with rings or bracelets, can also serve as a helpful reminder to keep you on track. “If you can’t find that crystal and jewelry, even just carrying a piece in your pocket as like a touchstone can be a really good reminder as well,” she adds.

You can also simply pair the appropriate crystal with other manifestation techniques, such as vision boarding, journaling, or visualization meditations.
