  • Man dies after being stabbed in Riverside, family says

    The man who was stabbed in Riverside on Friday has died.

    Jason Gau died from his injuries on Sunday, the family said in a statement to News Center 7’s Malik Patterson.

    As previously reported by News Center 7, Riverside Police responded to a stabbing at the 4500 block of Derwent Drive at around 11:20 a.m. on Friday.

    Family members identified Gau as the victim.

    They say he was stabbed multiple times at his house.

    The suspect, Zachary Fugate, 24, was located and arrested on Saturday, according to Riverside Police.

    Montgomery County Jail records show that he was booked after 2 p.m.

    “We appreciate all the tips from our residents along with all the hard work from our surrounding police agencies for their assistance,” the department said on social media.

    UPDATE: 1 hospitalized after shooting in Dayton neighborhood

    UPDATE @ 11:25 p.m.

    A person is hospitalized after a shooting in a Dayton neighborhood on Sunday night.

    As reported on News Center 7, Dayton officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to the 3800 block of Alvin Avenue on reports of a shooting.

    A Dayton Police sergeant told News Center 7’s Malik Patterson that medics transported a person to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

    Photos show yellow caution tape surrounding the corner of Alvin Avenue and Almore Street.

    Patterson said there were over a dozen police cruisers and officers when he arrived at the scene. Several neighbors were also outside consoling each other.

    Shortly after our news crew arrived, family members of someone inside the scene tape showed up. They were escorted inside and spoke to officers.

    Patterson saw officers get statements from people in the area.

    A 911 caller requested help from dispatchers.

    “Some teens pulled up in front of my house, they let another teen out and shot him,” the caller said.

    “I just heard gunshots,” a second caller told dispatchers. “I looked out my window, and they let him right on the curb.”

    News Center 7 has contacted the Dayton Police Department to learn the victim’s condition and what led to the shooting.

  • Deputies, water rescue team respond to reported drowning at Logan Co. campground

    Deputies and a water rescue team have responded to a reported drowning in Logan County on Saturday.

    As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00 on WHIO.com, deputies were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to Adventure Trails at the 3200 block of State Route 540 on reports of a possible drowning.

    Photos show multiple medics and water rescue teams from across the county at the scene.

    News Center 7’s Malik Patterson saw dozens of people staying at the campsite. They were watching and talking to each other, looking very emotional.

    Video showed two different kayaking crews in the water.

    Patterson also saw Columbus Police and crews from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources arrive at the scene.

    News Center 7 has contacted the Logan County Sheriff’s Office about the incident.
