    When defining the balletcore look, there are a few things to remember. The first is that a major part of the overall aesthetic is about tapping into things that are “pretty” or traditionally “feminine,” which manifests through the color palette, textiles, and silhouettes chosen. Typically, you’ll see ballerinas or anybody aspiring towards this look donning a muted pastel color palette of pale pink, light lilac, baby blue, and sage green, with pops of neutrals, including white, black, gray, and shades of nude. Occasionally, a brighter color will be thrown into the mix, like saffron red, but overall, most of the color palette is demure.

    In terms of the textiles, you’ll see a mix of materials that will either be “performance-ready” or “off-duty casual.” For example, while ballerinas are on stage, they typically wear textiles made from tulle or chiffon (the material that makes the iconic tutu) embellished with crystals, ruffles, or any other form of appliqués. While off-stage, you’ll typically find that ballerinas are all about comfort, which is reflected through the adoption of more breathable materials that are easy to dance in, like jersey, cotton, and cashmere. 

    The same can be said for silhouettes, as the dancer’s schedules often inform them. Traditionally, you’d find a ballerina’s onstage look silhouette to be a dress with a form-fitting bodice and voluminous skirt. But designers have expanded that silhouette to include bubble hems, drop-waists, puff sleeves, and even looser-fitting ruffled frocks. In terms of off-duty silhouettes, you’ll see more of the traditional workout gear in the form of leotards, tights or leggings, and boleros. Overall, these are the things that have informed what we now consider “balletcore.” But ultimately, the key to nailing this fashion aesthetic is all about finding clothing that feels like it could be worn by ballerinas on the dance floor but incorporated into daily life effortlessly.     Migaloo boss Christian Grumpold told the Huffington Post: “Living on and with the sea will be a future mega trend.

    “The island can be a first step to adapt to this new way of living.”

    Christian previously revealed to Bloomberg that the islands were among “the most expensive private objects worldwide”.

    The same company has also revealed their concept for the world’s first submersible superyacht that’s worth $2 billion and is three times bigger than Britain’s nuclear submarines.

    They are offering a gigantic 928ft vessel that contains a helipad for the helicopter it has on-board, as well as a swimming pool, movie theatre, wine cellar, library and much, much more.

    For comparison, the British Royal Navy‘s leading submarine, HMS Astute, seems a tiddler at only 318ft.

    Contrary to what the name implies, you don’t have to spend a lot to pull off the quiet luxury look. In fact, I was recently doing some shopping on H&M’s website when I realized that the brand has so many timeless, chic pieces. Plus, its prices are unbeatable. It’s a win-win for the shopper who’s allergic to anything overly trendy but also doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a wardrobe that looks luxe. I find it hard to resist completely filling up my cart when I’m on the website.

    To pull off the anti-trend look, I’m shopping for rich-textured staples, like lush sweaters and wooly coats, in mostly neutral hues. (Though, I’m always a fan of adding a pop of color.) H&M also has a surprisingly underrated selection of accessories, and I’m always partial to adding a pair of sculptural earrings or kitten heels to make a look feel a bit dressier with next to no effort. I also wanted to make sure to include plenty of outerwear in my hunt for quiet-luxury-inspired pieces since a structured coat or a sparkly cardigan can take a jeans-and-a-tee outfit to the next level.

    Few names exude “quiet luxury” like the ultra-luxe Aman Resorts.

    Its hotels bear its moniker: from Amanoi in Vietnam, to Aman Sveti Stefan in Montenegro and the hotel that started it all — Amanpuri in Phuket, Thailand.

    Fans of the brands — known as ‘Aman Junkies’ — are accustomed to paying its top-dollar rates, which start at $3,200 per night at Aman New York, which opened in August 2022.

    However, travelers who don’t want to spend this much will soon have another option.

    Aman is set to open Janu Tokyo, the first hotel from its new more affordable sister brand, in March 2024.

    Janu was created to respond to demand from a wider cohort of guests, said Aman CEO Vlad Doronin. It will mirror Aman hotels in service and design, but will have a “different pace and spirit,” he said in a press release.

    Inside Janu Tokyo

    Janu Tokyo will have eight restaurants and a 4,000-square-meter wellness center equipped with a gym, a hydrotherapy and thermal area, cold and hot plunge pools and hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, according to the company.

    Janu Tokyo is the first of 12 Janu hotels to open worldwide.

    Janu Tokyo spans 13 floors and houses 122 rooms and suites, which are designed, like Aman hotels, with a focus on minimalism and symmetry.

    The design has “a youthful energy, brimming with liveliness and playfulness that sets it apart from the poised and composed character of Aman,” said Jean-Michel Gathy, the hotel’s interior designer who also designed many Aman hotels, plus the Maldives’ One&Only Reethi Rah and The St. Regis Lhasa in Tibet.

    Most rooms come with a private balcony, overlooking Azabudai Hills, a new urban complex in the special ward of Minato City.

    More affordable?

    Nightly rates at Janu Tokyo start from $944, according to the company.

    However, CNBC Travel was unable to find any rooms before August 2024 for less than $1,000. During the 2024 year-end peak season, rates for entry-level rooms jump to about $1,400 per night, excluding taxes, which is similar to the cost of an entry-level room at Amanoi in Vietnam during the same time period.

    Twelve more Janu hotels are in the pipeline, according to the company, in places like in Saudi Arabia, Montenegro, Turks and Caicos, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Portugal, Thailand, Turkey and Maldives.
