After three awards shows, all in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s A-list is heading across the pond. Yes, it’s time for the BAFTAs, the annual ceremony that honors the best in British and international cinema. Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the BAFTAs are once again taking place at Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre tonight, Feb. 22, but with a new host. This year, Alan Cumming is taking over duties from David Tennant, who hosted the ceremony for the past two years.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another netted the most nominations at 14, followed by Ryan Coogler’s Sinners with 13 and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, tied with 11 nods each. Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan are all up for Best Actor, while Kate Hudson, Jessie Buckley and Emma Stone are among the stars nominated for Best Actress. Along with the celeb-studded roster of nominees, the slate of presenters is equally impressive, including Aaron Pierre, Aimee Lou Wood, Alicia Vikander, Alia Bhatt, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, David Jonsson, Delroy Lindo, Emily Watson, Erin Doherty, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Hannah Waddingham, Karen Gillan, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Little Simz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, Milly Alcock, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Noah Jupe, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Regé-Jean Page, Riz Ahmed, Sadie Sink, Stellan Skarsgård, Stormzy and Warwick Davis.

But before the best and brightest in film head into Royal Festival Hall, they’ll walk the always-glamorous BAFTAs red carpet in their most dazzling sartorial ensembles. Last year’s red carpet did not disappoint, with highlights including Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton, Mikey Madison in Prada, Monica Barbaro in Armani Privé and Lupita Nyong’o in Chanel—all custom, of course. So let’s get ready for the 2026 iteration—below, see all the best and most exciting fashion moments from this year’s BAFTAs red carpet.

  • SDCC: The Wild Robot Panel With Mark Hamill

SDCC: The Wild Robot Panel With Mark Hamill

There’s a ton of talent behind DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming release The Wild Robot, including writer-director Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon) and stars Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascal. But one of the supporting characters is voiced by an actor of particular interest to the San Diego Comic-Con crowd, which was thrilled to see Star Wars legend Mark Hamill as a surprise addition to the movie’s panel.

Hamill, of course, is also a storied voice-over actor in addition to his work in a galaxy far, far away (as well as other projects, like Mike Flanagan’s Netflix horror series The Fall of the House of Usher). And he brought his wide range of experiences to voicing Thorn, a grizzly bear, in the animated film adapted from Peter Brown’s illustrated novel. First, though, he explained what drew him to the project.

“When they asked me to consider being involved [with The Wild Robot], the first thing I did was order the book, and I was just knocked out,” Hamill said. “I thought, if they can capture just a small percentage of the effectiveness of this book—and I have to tell you, they just did a fantastic job. When I went in to do the voice session, they had footage. I thought, well, one of the great things was to look at the book, and they kept that.”

“But it’s just—you have to see it,” he said. “I feel like back in the day, when I was trying to describe Star Wars without people having seen it. [The Wild Robot] is emotional and it works on so many levels. The kids will love it, but everyone’s going to love it. I remember when my kids were small, [I’d] take them to see these movies [like] The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, [and you had to] keep your opinions to yourself [because the kids are] enjoying it. [But] this is one that the the whole family is just going to fall in love with.”

When it came to voicing Thorn, Hamill explained, “We always have to take a step back and say, what’s my function in the film, to make everything work? What function do I serve? And one of the aspects of the book and movie is that all these disparate animals are thrown into this situation where they have to restrain themselves. Obviously a bear is a predator, but they have to work for the greater good, so they peacefully coexist with the animals that that would ordinarily be their dinner.”

Thorn is just one of the creatures that Roz the robot (voiced by Nyong’o) encounters when she’s unexpectedly marooned on an island filled with a wilderness unlike anything she’s ever encountered. It’s a found-family story with plenty of sci-fi elements; it’s also a story where Pascal voices a crafty fox. The rest of the voice cast includes Catherine O’Hara as an opossum, Bill Nighy as a goose, Kit Connor as a gosling, Stephanie Hsu as a rival robot, and Matt Berry as a beaver. Ving Rhames is also in the cast.

The Wild Robot hits theaters September 27.

  • Reviews For The Easily Distracted: A Quiet Place: Day One

Reviews For The Easily Distracted: A Quiet Place: Day One

Title: A Quiet Place: Day One

Describe This Movie In One Ghostbusters Quote:

PETER VENKMAN: Listen. You smell something?

Brief Go-Gos Plot Synopsis: Have you seen them? They’re eating us /
Ripping thighs, well that’s no surprise

Review Using Random Objects Relevant To The Film: 3.5 Elmer Fudds out of 5.

Tagline: “Hear how it all began.”

Better Tagline: “My family would be dead in 30 seconds.”

Not So Brief Plot Synopsis: Life is already a day-to-day struggle for Sam (Lupita Nyong’o) whose idea of a successful day is going with her hospice group into the city and getting a slice from her favorite Harlem pizzeria. These plans are foiled when Earth is rudely invaded by monsters who are the extreme version of people who call the cops on their neighbors for watching Top Chef too loudly. Still hellbent on getting her pizza, Sam and “support cat” Frodo are soon joined by Eric (Joshua Quinn), an expat law student suffering from anxiety issues even before the alien invasion.
“Critical” Analysis” The Quiet Place universe is one in which blind alien monsters with hypersensitive hearing have essentially taken over the world. In the first movie, young Regan Abbott — who also happens to be deaf — figures out that a high-pitched noise from her cochlear implant affects the monsters. The second movie ends with her broadcasting the sound from a radio station, hopefully helping out the remaining humans.

Now that we’re all caught up, we return to the beginning with A Quiet Place: Day One. It’s a bit of a cheat, since we already saw a sliver of “Day One” (albeit in flashback) in Part II. Now it’s feature length, showing us the invasion from the start and the ensuing rapid collapse of civilization.

Along with what has to the the chillest cat ever to walk the earth.

The greatest trick writer/director Michael Sarnoski (Pig) pulled with this movie was to bait and switch people expecting a standard apocalyptic horror movie into watching a thoughtful (with jump scares) meditation on death and acceptance. As with the previous films, there are extensive stretches of utter silence, and it was very interesting to sit with an audience that went along with the concept.

Day One has a larger canvas than before: New York City … Chinatown and Harlem, to be specific, the latter playing a key role in Sam’s quest to obtain the last slice of a certain pizza. If this doesn’t sound quite as harrowing as giving birth in utter silence, you’ve never tried to get anywhere in NYC without stepping on something noisy.

“For the love of god, don’t criticize Taylor Swift again.”

Watching Day One, a couple of questions leap to mind. First: how many of these damn things are there? Whenever anyone cuts a loud fart (it doesn’t happen onscreen, but you know thousands gave their lives for flatulence) there’s an alien waiting to smear their blood on a wall.

Second: [Seinfeld voice] What’s the deal with aliens who can’t tolerate water landing on a planet that’s 3/4 covered in it? It’s like these guys, who can’t swim, and the aliens from Signs were all clients of the same shitty travel company.

It’s both a bold move and kind of a cop-out to make Sam terminally ill. Her fate is sealed either way, and as fondly as we remember Quinn as Eddie from Stranger Things, his rapport with Sam is actually quite touching, and almost more appropriate to something like Autumn in New York, provided New York was overrun by Demogorgon looking aliens, which only enhances the ST vibe.

Beyond that, there’s Sam’s cat Frodo. Referred to (perhaps sarcastically) as a “support cat,” Frodo is the least cat-like feline you’ve ever seen: he appears to genuinely care about his master, actively helps Sam and Eric on their journey, and never makes a goddamn sound. If more cats behaved that way, I might actually get one.

All of the Quiet Place movies are well-crafted and pack a punch, and Day One is no exception. In fact, it might be the best one. Krasinski (who co-created the story) and former indie director Sarnoski create characters we care about and want to see survive, which goes completely against my utter lack of enthusiasm for surviving an apocalypse. No more fajitas? Check, please.

  • Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn Open Up About Their Instant Connection on A Quiet Place: Day One Set – POPSUGAR Australia

Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn Open Up About Their Instant Connection on A Quiet Place: Day One Set – POPSUGAR Australia

Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn step into the chilling world of the A Quiet Place franchise, known for its gripping suspense and cathartic horror experiences. As the franchise continues to terrify audiences with its sound-sensitive aliens, the latest instalment, A Quiet Place: Day One, takes us back in time to explore the origins of this otherworldly threat.

With Lupita and Joseph leading the charge, both actors are no strangers to the monster and horror genre. Lupita, hailed as our scream queen, wowed us in Jordan Peele’s Us (2019), while Joseph battled monsters in Stranger Things season four. So, when two talented actors share the screen, their chemistry can either make or break the story. However, in A Quiet Place: Day One, Lupita and Joseph exemplify this synergy.

In a recent chat with POPSUGAR Australia, they opened up about their initial impressions of each other, revealing a mutual respect and admiration that set the stage for their collaboration.

Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn’s First Impressions of Each Other

“My first impression of Joe was he had this intensity about the way in which he approached his work was full-bodied,” Lupita shared. “He was focused, he had a great work ethic, he showed up to show out and he was also extremely generous and present and courteous in the process, as well. I knew instantly that we were gonna be just fine.”

For Joseph, the experience was equally profound but tinged with a hint of nerves.

“I was very nervous to meet Lupita, obviously, ‘cause I’ve been an admirer of her work for many years and was very excited about the prospect of collaborating with her,” he explained. “When I first met her, I met a very kind, powerful, focused person.”

    lupita-nyongo-joseph-quinn-a-quiet-place-day-one-2
    Supplied

Reflecting on his admiration for Lupita’s career, Joseph noted, “It’s very weird when you get to work with someone you admire like that because you have so many preconceived ideas and almost a mythology around them, if I’m honest.”

He continued, “I remember watching her in 12 Years A Slave and just being dumbfounded at that level of talent. So being confronted with it and having to keep up with it was daunting. But, she’s a very disarming, wonderful woman, so she was able to make me feel at ease very quickly. From there, it’s just been snowballing.”

Their Chemistry Is Undeniable On and Off Screen

In the gripping world of A Quiet Place: Day One, Lupita and Joseph elevate the franchise’s chilling narrative. As the prequel reveals the alien threat’s origins, their chemistry as Samira and Eric adds raw authenticity to their roles.

A Quiet Place: Day One promises thrills with Lupita and Joseph leading the way. From suspense to emotional depth, this film delivers it all, topped off by their undeniable chemistry. Whether you’re here for the suspense or the emotional depth, this film has it all. And the chemistry between these two stars is the icing on the cake.

A Quiet Place: Day One is in cinemas now. You can book your tickets here.

The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

The spring 2024 runway collections were stocked full of trends, from sophisticated takes on sheer to dramatically overstuffed handbags, but out of all of them, none made quite as impactful of a splash as oxblood (otherwise known as black cherry, merlot, or burgundy), the shade of red on every fashion person’s lips (and in their closets) right now. Found at Hermès, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Tom Ford, and then some, the elegant yet moody hue is no doubt campaigning to be the color of the year.

Helping out on the campaign trail are celebs, who’ve come out in droves to support the rise of oxblood, wearing it on red carpets, to fashion shows, and on the streets of cities like New York and London. And since the spring collections haven’t even arrived in stores yet, I can only imagine that the best A-list burgundy looks are still to come. Scroll down to check out the chicest examples so far of celebs wearing 2024’s color of the year.

  • The Las Vegas Grand Prix Was Basically a Runway Show—11 Looks That Prove It

The Las Vegas Grand Prix Was Basically a Runway Show—11 Looks That Prove It

One scroll through Instagram this weekend—whether you’re a fan of Formula One like I am or have only ever seen an icon for its docuseries Drive to Survive pop up on Netflix (likely after you wrapped up Beckham)—and you no doubt caught a glimpse of the happenings around the Las Vegas Grand Prix. That’s because in addition to the sport growing at a record pace in the U.S. thanks to the series, countless fashion collabsF1 content creators, and more, celebrities and influencers were a dime a dozen during the three-day race weekend, at pop ups, parties, and of course, the track, which took over the Las Vegas strip, spanning from Treasure Island to Planet Hollywood, past the Mirage, Bellagio, and Cosmopolitan casinos. Even Monaco, one of the oldest and most prestigious F1 venues, doesn’t bring in the calibre of names that Las Vegas did this weekend.

Mercedes AMG Petronas driver and seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton led the charge as he so often does, rocking up to the paddock for media day wearing an all-black Valentino look from the French house’s S/S 24 menswear collection, with a pearl choker from the brand as well as Versace boots. (If you’re a fan of Hamilton’s style, follow @hamazinglew on Instagram to be the first to know when a new look drops.) The following day, he wore another runway look, this time from Pharrell’s S/S 24 collection for Louis Vuitton with IWC’s Pilot’s Perpetual Calendar Top Gun Lake Tahoe watch and Bottega Veneta’s drop aviators (that Kendall Jenner was just seen wearing as well). Lewis Hamilton Fashion Week as some online have penned the weekend continued with custom Bottega Veneta, custom Burberry by Daniel Lee, andcustom Las Vegas-inspired bomber jacket by Donatella Versace herself. “A true Versace man: Bold, fearless and with amazing style,” Versace captioned a photo of the jacket on Instagram. “I looooove that jacket on you, Lewis Hamilton. Always on your team!”

  • Lupita Nyong’o Has Her Revenge-Dress Moment in an Underwear-Baring Gown

Lupita Nyong’o Has Her Revenge-Dress Moment in an Underwear-Baring Gown

Lupita Nyong’o’s latest look may be her most daring yet. On Nov. 4, the actor attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala in one hell of a revenge dress following her recent breakup from boyfriend Selema Masekela. She conquered the visible-underwear trend in a lacy maroon Gucci gown with a plunging neckline, completely sheer skirt, and see-through panels at the bust.

With input from stylist Micaela Erlanger, Nyong’o paired the look with a diamond De Beers necklace that dripped down her décolletage, plus earrings and rings by the same jeweler. A black manicure and black and red eyeshadow completed her sultry look.

Nyong’o has been open with fans about her split from Masekela, sharing the news on Instagram last month. “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” the star wrote on Oct. 19. She admitted to feeling “tempted to run into the shadows and hide” while processing the breakup, but she’s instead facing the pain with courage — and dressing for revenge à la Princess Diana.

Although Nyong’o’s style tends to be pretty modest, she’s experimented with more revealing looks this year. At the 2023 Tony Awards in June, she introduced a new take on the “naked” fashion trend by wearing a silver breastplate cast from a mold of her own chest, nipples and all. She described it as a “shameless out-of-body experience” to walk the red carpet in the backless piece, which was custom made by artist and fashion designer Misha Japanwala.

  • Lupita Nyong’o Says Her Life Was Turned “Upside-Down From Heartbreak”

Lupita Nyong’o Says Her Life Was Turned “Upside-Down From Heartbreak”

In the wake of heartbreak, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o has found that old friendships are keeping her afloat.

Nyong’o shared a sweet ode to pal Palmer Hefferan in an Instagram post on Thursday, writing about how her friend, whom she met when they were roommates at the Yale School of Drama, “is the kind of friend that I can count on through thick and very thin. We don’t have to talk every day, but when we do, we pick up exactly where we left off, like no time at all has passed.”

Nyong’o recently went through a breakup after being linked to TV host and journalist Selema Masekela for about a year. In late October, she wrote on her Instagram that she was “in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”

She said that Hefferan, a Tony-nominated sound designer, rushed to her side when Nyong’o was at a low point amid the split.

“Recently, when my life was turned upside-down from heartbreak, Palmer flew in swiftly to be by my side and help me through the hardest days as I adjusted to my new reality,” Nyong’o wrote alongside a carousel of photos of herself and Hefferan. “She made me delicious meals, she found me therapeutic activities to get my mind off things, she cried with me and made me laugh until I cried a more joyful kind of tear. She did not tire of being of service to me.”

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Nyong’o recalled Halloweens past, when Hefferan would make sure she had a costume for them to go out and have fun, and said that “the biggest gift she bestowed on my life was helping me get my first pet, Yoyo. Now every time I look at him and cuddle with him, I am reminded of the selfless love my sister from another mister showed me.”

“I will never be able to pay her back for the kindness she has shown me, and the beauty of the friendship is that it is never about evening the score!” Nyong’o wrote. “But I have every intention to try.”

Lupita Nyong’o Reveals Breakup After “Deception”

Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o isn’t immune to heartbreak, but according to an Instagram post she shared this week, she hopes her pain can help someone else in the long run.

In an all-text carousel Thursday, Nyong’o began by acknowledging that “there are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering.” She went on to share that she’s “in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love,” she wrote. “And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass. The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness. I hope it’s true.”

Though Nyong’o didn’t name names specifically, or go into detail about how her trust had been broken by the unnamed party, she has been linked to TV host and journalist Selema Masekela for about a year. In December 2022, in a since-deleted Instagram post, she shared a video of the two captioned “We just click! @selema #thisismylove #nuffsaid.”

True to her word, however, the Oscar winner isn’t letting heartbreak keep her inside: She was spotted out at a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles Wednesday, with a group that included Joshua Jackson, whose pending divorce from wife Jodie Turner-Smith also recently made headlines.

Nyong’o wrote in her post that she was sharing the update on her romantic life “to keep it 💯, and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it. #Breakup.”

Representatives for Lupita Nyong’o did not immediately return Vanity Fair‘s for comment.

Lupita Nyong’o Seemingly Confirms ‘Breakup’ With Selema Masekela

Lupita Nyong’o is a single woman! At least, that’s what a recent Instagram upload on Thursday (Oct. 18) seemingly implies. The actress previously shared her romance with Selema Masekela.

“There are much important things on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering. At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust. I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” Lupita wrote in the Instagram caption and carousel post slides.

Lupita offered no additional details about the alleged “deception” or clarity on how long ago she split from Selema — whom she did not name in the upload. The last Instagram upload she shared featuring Selema came in August. It was a birthday post calling him a “sunshine human” and her “amor,” per E! News. It has since been deleted, and the pair do not follow each other on Instagram.

Lupita Nyong’o & Joshua Jackson Enjoy Janelle Monáe Concert With Friends

The Shade Room first noted that the former couple were not connected on the social platform after publishing exclusive images of Lupita Nyong’o. Photographers captured her enjoying the closing show of Janelle Monáe’s tour on Wednesday night.

A source told TSR Lupita reportedly arrived at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, with Joshua Jackson and remained at his side for the entire performance. Over 30 images reviewed by TSR staff show Lupita and Joshua engaging in friendly conversation with each other and friends. None show signs of romantic intimacy, including kissing, hugging, hand-holding, or anything related.

Like Lupita, Joshua is also newly single after his wife of four years, Jodie Turner-Smith, filed for divorce earlier this month. She listed their date of separation as Sept. 13, 2023. The paperwork reportedly revealed that she’s seeking joint physical and legal custody of their three-year-old daughter, Juno.

Lupita “Tempted To Run Into The Shadows” Amid Her Heartbreak

In today’s Instagram upload, the actress spoke about wanting to hide from public life amid her breakup.

“I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, ‘Whatever, my life is better this way.’ But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love, Lupita Nyong’o wrote.

In her continued paragraph, Lupita said she chose to share in order to be honest with herself and to inspire others experiencing heartbreak.

“And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass. The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness. I hope it’s true… I share this to keep it [100], and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it. #Breakup Let’s face our pain so we don’t spread it.”

Lupita Nyong’o Posts Video Undergoing Intense Training To Swim In ‘Wakanda Forever’

    By Miguel A. Melendez‍ , ETOnline.com.

Lupita Nyong’o may have made it look easy to swim in the underwater kingdom of Talokan, but to do so required Navy SEAL-like training sessions. And the proper supervision.

The 39-year-old actress and star of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” posted a 54-second clip Saturday on TikTok giving fans a glimpse of the excruciating training she underwent to perfect her role as the “war dog” spy Nakia. Nyong’o captioned the video, “Swimming down to Talokan was not as easy as it looked! Safely supervised by @XPTLife and #MarkRobertsFitness.”

The behind-the-scenes clip starts with Nyong’o submerging underwater while holding what appears to be a 10- to 15-pound dumbbell. While using her left hand to hold the dumbbell to her chest, Nyong’o is left with only her right arm to swim in a straight line. You can see this type of training’s not for the faint of heart. The training’s so gruelling, an expert swimmer’s by her side the whole time to ensure everything goes smoothly.

In another sequence, Nyong’o is seen using two dumbbells — one on each hand — to bear crawl across the pool. She then walks up the steps of the pool while perfectly executing a farmer’s walk. As if that wasn’t already impressive enough, N’yong’o then takes to the deepest part of the pool and performs another farmer’s walk.

The clip ends with Nyong’o calmly putting down the dumbbells and swimming back to the surface. She’s seen smiling before the video cuts to another angle, and that’s when she reveals how the whole training makes her feel.

“I feel like a crawfish,” she quipped.

“We visited his resting place before we started filming and we had that moment as a cast,” she recalls. “We went with the new cast who hadn’t met him as well. It was our way of continuing this journey.”

The actress continues, “It really doesn’t feel like we have anything to prove to his spirit. I feel very, very centered about how we brought him along with us. Ryan had an artist make this necklace that has Chadwick’s image on it and he wore it every day. So he’s been with us, he knows what we did.”

  • Ryan Coogler Describes ‘Black Panther 2’s Original Script

Ryan Coogler Describes ‘Black Panther 2’s Original Script

Before the death of Chadwick Boseman, Marvel had a totally different plan for a Black Panther sequel. The film initially revolved entirely around Boseman’s T’Challa. In fact, earlier versions of the movie’s script were structured completely differently from the current one.

New trailers for the film show Wakanda mourning the loss of its greatest warrior. In the original script, the film would have instead been about T’Challa learning to cope with his new role as his country’s leader. Ryan Coogler and Lupita Nyong’o spoke about the initial plan with The Hollywood Reporter, shedding a little more light on the film, as well as backlash surrounding the decision not to recast Boseman’s role. Coogler said:

The script we wrote before Chadwick passed was very much rooted in T’Challa’s perspective, It was a massive movie but also simultaneously a character study that delved deeply into his psyche and situation.

“That is not the death of the Black Panther, that’s the whole point. It’s laying to rest [T’Challa] and allowing for real life to inform the story of the movies,” added Nyong’o. “I know that there are all sorts of reasons why people want him to be recast, but I don’t have the patience. I don’t have the presence of mind, or I don’t have the objectivity to argue with that. I don’t. I’m very biased.”

In the version of the film coming to theaters, T’Challa’s friends and loved ones must move on from his death while dealing with the threat of an invasion from Namor, who comes from an underwater civilization whose technology is nearly on par with Wakanda. In the MCU, Namor hails from Talocan, a mythical city derived from Aztec mythology. He’s quite a force to be reckoned with.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated for release on November 22nd of 2022.
