Celebrities will have to hold onto their gowns and watch their step as they pose for photos on this year’s Golden Globes red carpet. Like the Met Gala, fashion stars are lining the steps for their picture-perfect moment.
The 83rd Golden Globes gives a glimpse into how A-listers and rising stars will each showcase their original take on fashion. Since 1944, the show has honored the best in film and television, and for the first time, podcasters have been added to the awards lineup.
While some celebrities opt for embodying old Hollywood glamour (think opera gloves and cinched waists), others opt for a modern flair.
Last year, actor Ayo Edebiri wore a gray custom Loewe suit and gold feather necklace in an homage to Julia Roberts’ famous Golden Globes look in 1990.
The carpet — at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California — is a chance for nominees to make a statement, though some are beholden to fashion houses who pay them as ambassadors.
With millions of eyes watching, the carpet gives celebrities a chance to show off their fashion prowess. Stylists pull archival looks for their stars or fresh off the runway couture designs. Either way, the carpet provides significant exposure for fashion houses and brands. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
All the celebrity red-carpet looks at the 2025 Emmy Awards
TV’s biggest night is always one of the starriest red carpets of the year
Have you watched all the shows? I’ve seen *** lot of commercials of the show. If you’re like Emmy host Nate Bargetzy and haven’t seen all the nominated shows, well, you might still watch the Emmy Awards for this. You’re making *** $100,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of America, which is amazing that you’re doing that, but there’s *** catch. Bargetzi says for every Emmy winner’s acceptance speech that exceeds the allotted 45 seconds. And Perfect choice of music. The donation shrinks by $1000 per second. Ouch, deposit too. If they go under, we will put money on top of it. So I would prefer them not all go that under because that can get pretty expensive and the amount of money I give the Boys and Girls Club is totally up to all of Hollywood. Either way, Bargetsi can afford it. He’s currently Billboard’s number one selling stand-up comic in America. His tour grossed more than $80 million last year alone. For his first Hollywood hosting gig. He’s getting advice from veterans like Nicki Glazer, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Conan O’Brien. They’re all just kind of like, you just got to be you and trust that you know what you’re doing. Fortunate to learn that in other settings and so I don’t have to hopefully not learn it, you know, in front of Harrison Ford, right? Bargetsi says, sure, he’ll joke. About Hollywood, but in his trademark polite style like the cancellation of nominee Stephen Colbert’s late night show. Is that off limits, or are you going to address it? I think we’ll say something, but it’ll be done in *** fun, playful way. That family friendly comedic style has helped the Tennessee native gain wide appeal in an era where comedy often divides audiences. Barhetsi met his wife while working at Applebee’s. Welcome. And his daughter introduces him in many of his shows. His father was *** magician and *** clown. I have to ask, did you have *** fear of clowns growing up, because *** lot of kids do. I had *** joke about like I would say, have you ever been yelled at by *** clown because I have. And it’s pretty confusing to get yelled at by *** guy that’s got *** smile painted on his face. Bargetsi doesn’t fear the Emmy stage. In fact, this star can’t wait to be starstruck. Who are you excited to see? Ben Stiller? I’m excited to see. Well, Severance has the most nominations, so you will definitely meet Ben Stiller. We should cross paths, yes.

Oz Perkins’ oddball movie Longlegs does a lot of genre-hopping: It’s part police procedural, part serial-killer thriller, part supernatural horror movie, with a lot of little detours down lanes that shuffle it further into various subgenres. And it raises a lot of questions it never answers. In particular, the killer — an isolated oddball who styles himself as “Longlegs” in cryptic messages he leaves for law enforcement — has such an odd appearance that it raises the question of whether there’s a supernatural element to that, as well.
Image: Neon
Longlegs’ look isn’t addressed during the movie, apart from a scene where a hardware-store employee (played by Perkins’ daughter Bea) calls Longlegs a weirdo. People don’t even seem to acknowledge that he looks like someone slapped wet, greasy, white modeling clay all over his face, then walked away. While the prosthetics job could be seen as just a way to hide Nicolas Cage’s face out of a fear that the iconic actor is too familiar and his presence might be distracting, the press notes for the movie have a different explanation that the movie doesn’t even hint at.
[Ed. note: Major spoilers ahead for Longlegs.]
As viewers eventually learn, Longlegs, as he styles himself, is a Satanist who’s been busily gathering souls for the devil by making evil dolls and sending them to families under the guise that they’ve won some sort of contest. Once the doll enters each household, the father of the family succumbs to a form of possession and murders everyone in the house, then kills himself. When Longlegs is caught, he makes it clear to protagonist Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) that he expects Satan to lavishly reward him for these deeds — he isn’t afraid of his impending death, because (something like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: A New Hope), he expects to be “everywhere” after he dies.
This fervent dedication to Satan, as it turns out, actually explains his pale, lumpy, plasticky appearance. According to the movie’s press notes, Longlegs’ face is a result of repeated plastic surgeries gone wrong:
When Perkins initially approached special makeup effects artist Harlow MacFarlane about creating the face of Longlegs, MacFarlane says, “From the beginning, Oz always had this glam rock vibe in his head.” The big hair, the garish makeup, the superficial aesthetic fixation that might lead a person to go under the knife so they could remain forever young. But more than being driven by style, Longlegs would be a man driven by obsessive devotion.
“His jam is really that he’s trying to make himself beautiful for the Devil,” explains MacFarlane. “He’s in love with the Devil, and he’s trying to impress the Devil, so he’s gone through all these plastic surgery botch jobs to make himself look as pretty as he can for the Devil. Every thing he does is for this evil force that he’s trying to impress.” […]
Getting the faded glam sadist look just right meant researching the state of elective surgery in the late 70s and early 80s — with characters living in semi-rural Oregon, no less — and then building from a foundation of bad work marked by overfilling and visible scarring. There would be layers of pain atop layers of pain. “You can just imagine it’s some hack job of a doctor in a strip mall somewhere,” says MacFarlane, who worked closely with Perkins and Cage to hone the final product.
According to the same notes, MacFarlane looked at Gary Oldman’s makeup as Mason Verger in the movie Hannibal as one potential source of inspiration. In the 2001 sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, Mason was a rapist and pedophile who Hannibal Lecter drugged and convinced to slice off his own face, resulting in tremendous mutilation that could only be partially repaired with surgery.
Cage also suggested an approach similar to Lon Chaney’s makeup in the 1925 Phantom of the Opera. Both inspirations were ultimately considered over-the-top for Perkins’ movie, but both are somewhat reflected in the final results. A note at the end of that section also reveals something Cage was hoping to see on screen that never happened: He wanted Longlegs to “fully pull his nose off at one point during the movie.”

There is no word in the movie or the press notes about how Satan feels about Longlegs’ current face.
Another interesting piece of trivia does come up in the notes: Perkins concealed the character’s final appearance from Monroe until he shot the scene where they first come face-to-face in an FBI interrogation room, because he wanted her unnerved response to be authentic in the moment.
“On horror sets, so many people ask if it’s scary or is it spooky. And it really isn’t! You see all the gags. You see the fake blood,” Monroe says in the press notes. “But for the first time, I was really able to experience this genuine feeling of being very uncomfortable and nervous and scared and fearful of opening that door, of what I was going to see. […] Oz didn’t let me see any photos or anything. I knew [Cage] was sitting in the hair and makeup chair for several hours, but I had no idea! It was a pretty surreal experience that I will definitely never forget.”
The 2024 Met Gala has arrived, bringing some of the best red carpet looks we’ll see all year. Guests at the gala adhered to the dress code of “The Garden of Time,” in honor of the Met’s exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which celebrates fashion so fragile that it can no longer be worn. Here, see how the stars showcased their interpretation of the theme, florals and all. Scroll through to see every look.
Puffer jackets and chic styling don’t often go together at first glance. How to style a puffer jacket isn’t top of mind for most people. Instead, winter dressing is usually about making sure that you’re mentally and emotionally ready to step out of the door without regretting not putting on that extra layer of clothing.
As a new-ish New Yorker who has never experienced a true winter in her entire life, I have to admit that I’m in the latter camp. So when it came to finding a winter jacket that both looked and felt good, I knew I had my work cut out for me—until I asked Karla Welch, that is.
“We really wanted to show how a warm functional coat can add to a look and become part of the entire fit vs. just something you wear to stay warm and dry,” Welch, who partnered with the legacy outwear brand in styling its fall/winter 2023 drop, explained. “This new collection is super flattering on the wearer and the color offerings are in arrays of muted tones with pastels here and there, that can easily work themselves into any wardrobe and on any type of person.”
She’s not wrong—a quick glance at the in-season offerings drastically shows that this isn’t your father’s bulky all-black winter puffer of the past. Earth tones and soft, muted mattes instantly elevate the collection, with a minimalist take on quilting, logos, and hardware from the Canada Goose design team.
Vince Staples is getting his own Netflix series. The rapper, and occasional actor, first tweeted about his show on Monday, but it wasn’t until Wednesday that we got our first look at it in Netflix’s new trailer and it already looks great. The series, called The Vince Staples Show, will premiere on Feb. 15.
The trailer starts off with Vince arriving at his home and sitting down on the couch to watch TV with his girlfriend. As she asks him about his day, we see brief flashes from the show, of Vince beefing with someone in a mascot costume, getting recognized during a bank robbery, and struggling to order fast food.
The trailer seems to be more interested in communicating the vibe of the show than any actual plot details, but it’s pretty successful nonetheless. Each scene looks weirder, funnier, and more tense than the last. It would be hard for an offbeat series created by a rapper to dodge comparisons to the Donald Glover-created Atlanta, but weirdly the trailer has a similar feel to Uncut Gems too, where Adam Sandler’s minor New York celebrity took him to some pretty terrible places.
While Staples is mostly a musician, this isn’t his first time trying to get a show off the ground. He also created a much smaller version of The Vince Staples Show for Facebook back in 2019, but that series was short-lived. Since then, Staples has shown up on series like Abbott Elementary and Insecure.
If you were to ask me who has been a consistent style muse for me since I started working in fashion (beyond the Olsen twins, of course), it would be Toteme’s co-founder and creative director, Elin Kling. If I could only wear one brand for the rest of my life, it would be Toteme, and I declared as much some years ago. When it comes to Kling’s personal style, it dawned on me that I still reference just about all of her looks from a decade ago up until today. That’s impressive in my book, to say the least.
Below, I take you through some of my favorite ensembles from Kling that date back 10 years or more. How does she do it? It’s all thanks to her continued commitment to elevated basics like tailored black blazers, classic jeans, simple shoes, and other genuinely timeless pieces. Keep scrolling to see seven incredibly chic outfits from Kling’s stylish archive that you can wear now and for many years to come. Seriously, these look like they could have been shot yesterday.

The first trailer for Rebel Moon: The Scargiver quietly dropped on Christmas Day, but even with 1 million views and counting, it’s unclear if Netflix got a prized gift in its stocking or lump of coal.
Rebel Moon is currently the #1 movie on Netflix (accounting for 23.9M views as of first six days on the platform, according to the now slightly transparent company). It’s also a blemish on director Zack Snyder’s track record; While he’s not typically a critical darling, the fantasy space opera has garnered some of the sourest reviews of his career, hovering between Sucker Punch and Justice League (the first attempt) on the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator. Is there hope for the Rebel Moon universe?
Netflix has to hope so — not only does the streamer have a Rebel Moon sequel, The Scargiver, locked and loaded for spring 2024, there’s transparent hope for a greater expansion of the universe into other properties. At the very least, we’re getting an R-rated cut of the first film, Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire, and a four-player co-op Rebel Moon video game from Super Evil Megacorp… eventually.
But while it’s hard to imagine “course correction” for the budding franchise — it’s Snyder’s baby through and through — the first trailer for Rebel Moon: The Scargiver could see improvement. A Child of Fire promised a Seven Samurai-esque team movie with a climactic battle of underdogs versus imperial scum… without actually delivering the climactic battle. With the muscle now in place, The Scargiver looks like a third act of the original pitch broken out into a sequel. If it’s all slo-mo action and reference-heavy iconography swirling around in a cloud of action, it might be what Snyder was envisioning all along? At the very least, we’re getting a lot more Djimon Hounsou, which is a good sign.
Rebel Moon: The Scargiver will premiere on Netflix on April 19, 2024. And either before or after that, we’re getting the rated-R cuts of one or both of the movies, which might be worth holding out for. At the very least, Snyder says they take place in a “different dimension” than the PG-13 movies, so there’s that.
It’s time to return to the Fury Road in search of Valhalla in the new Mad Max spinoff, Furiosa. The prequel got its first trailer on Thursday that showed off the early tribulations of the future-Imperator. Furiosa is set for release on May 24, 2024.
As the name implies, Furiosa focuses on Imperator Furiosa, the main character from Mad Max: Fury Road originally played by Charlize Theron. This movie takes us back to her younger days and puts Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, The Menu) in the role instead.
Along with Taylor-Joy, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth as some kind of villainous master of ceremonies in the wasteland, and a Young Immortan Joe. The story appears to give us a full origin of Furiosa, from when she was taken from her family to when she joined up with Joe to lead the War Boys.
Returning to the franchise for the fifth time is also director and Mad Max creator George Miller, who is now 78 years old but clearly still kicking it. Miller co-wrote Furiosa with Nick Lathouris, who has been involved with Mad Max since the first movie in 1979 and also co-wrote Fury Road.
Trust us when we say that the holiday season (and all the events that will inevitably ensue) will arrive much sooner than you’ll realize. As your go-to destination for outfit ideas and shopping, of course, we made it our duty to bring you our guide on what to wear to every type of celebration you might attend this holiday season (virtual or otherwise). Next up: your office holiday party.
Although many companies are continuing to work remotely, that doesn’t mean the festivities are completely canceled. So long as Zoom gatherings and in-person soirées are taking place, you can bet that we’ll be delivering on ideas for what to wear. For most of us, this is a tricky one to dress for because on one hand, you want to maintain an air of professionalism in front of your co-workers, while on the other, you don’t want to dress like you would on any other workday. Where does that leave you? Somewhere between formal and festive, which can be hard to pinpoint—and that’s where we come in. Ahead, we’ve rounded up 14 outfits that will impress not only your boss but your colleagues, too.
Each look effortlessly balances looking festive and polished. Take outfit one, for instance, in which an office-ready blazer meets a pretty lace bodysuit. Get inspired by this and so many more office holiday party outfits below. See (and shop) the looks below.
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I’m going to try my hardest to re-create a runway look for under $50. As a Gen Z fashion editor just starting her career, unfortunately, ready-to-wear pieces aren’t exactly in my budget yet, but after months of waiting, I can finally say I might be close enough— perhaps not to buying a full look from Prada’s Fall/Winter 2023 show, but at least to buying something that somewhat resembles it. Of course, I’m talking about grey sweaters.
While it seems trivial to call an incredibly basic, somewhat boring knit top the accessory of the season, looking at runway shows and Instagram posts, it’s clear that everyone else is taking inspiration from this paradoxical timeless trend that’s been everywhere the last few months.. Just take a look at some of the most buzzed-about shows of the Fall/Winter 2023 season: Miu Miu, Fendi, and Prada all included a simple, grey sweater paired with a bottom-du-jour.
I’m a huge fan of ’70s fashion. The era created a host of trends that still stand up today, whether you realize they’re from that time or not. Think of our current obsession with bright over-the-knee boots, folk-inspired printed dresses, velvet, corduroy, boho blouses, midi skirts, and so on. While the ’70s sweep over the runways every couple of seasons, there’s always a hint of it on the streets if you look closely.
Think of the iconic designer names that were indelibly marked into history during this decade, like Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, and Diane von Furstenberg. It was also a period where mass-market, trend-driven fashion was more readily available. Barbara Hulanicki’s Biba kick-started the idea in London a decade earlier alongside boutiques like Bus Stop, and cool, connected girls were able to switch up their looks more readily, which likely led to the 1001 aesthetics and key pieces that came out of this electric time.
We can talk all day about how much we adore French brands, from the French styling tricks owned by the country’s chicest girls to the stars and street style gurus you should look to for excellent Parisian style. But what about the best French fashion brands that enable all the above? There are loads of them. Ranging from the super-luxe established designer fashion houses—Dior, Saint Laurent, Chanel—through to the newer, sparkier high-street startups like Sézane, there is a veritable gamut of Gallic labels to get to grips with. And that’s before we even get started on the incredible midrange section the French industry has licked. Think of some of the names you know, such as Maje, Sandro, and Claudie Pierlot. They’re just the cherry on top of a particularly tasty contemporary fashion sundae.
So to indulge your love for all things Français, we’ve brought together 35 of the most important French brands—some you’ll recognize, some you won’t. What’s key to note is that not only have we assembled the coolest of the cool, but we’re also giving you pointers on exactly what you should look out for when shopping any of these labels. For example, Maje is always a trusted go-to for tweed separates, and we’ve chosen the best one to grab your attention today. Go through the gallery below to see and shop from the 35 best French fashion brands in existence.
The buzziest looks from the fall/winter 2023 collections have one thing in common: skirts. Skirts on their own are hardly groundbreaking as a clothing category since there are new versions each season, but what is interesting are the strong designs, fresh silhouettes, and already-viral quality of the pieces that are dropping this fall. Prada’s floral-embellished circle skirts and miniskirts, in particular, caused a wave of commentary on the internet when they debuted. Now that they are arriving in stores, they are causing an equal frenzy of excitement among the fashion crowd as they are clamoring to test-drive them and add them to their wardrobes.
Other fall skirts are primed to take over this season, including everything from the pencil skirts that will dominate the corporate trend to the fresh ways we’re seeing maxi skirts styled. Here are the fall outfits with skirts to add to your arsenal of looks for the season ahead.
Fall work outfits are a bit of a relief after the long, humid summer season. You can stop wondering just how much exposed skin is too much and add on all the office-appropriate layers without becoming a sweaty mess in the summer sun. Moral of the story: Office fashion is in its element during fall. That makes right now coincidentally the perfect time to start thinking up some fresh new fall outfits that are sure to impress your colleagues as you trickle back into the office.
Since the topic of what to wear is the big question also blowing up my group chats, I figured I’d share my recommendations if you too will be gearing up for a return this fall. Whether you’re in the corporate world or in a creative field, I’m sure you’ll find something here to make the WFH transition a little less painful. Keep scrolling to see 19 work-ready looks that are sure to bring you tons of compliments.
The resurgence of ’90s fashion has resulted in a truly mixed bag of emotions. While the ’90s can be credited with providing us with now-favorable slip dresses and kitten heels, there’s also a raft of trends we’d like to keep in the past. After reaching out to the rest of the Who What Wear team, we reminisced about all the pieces we used to be so proud to own but can’t imagine ever wearing again (we think), as well as the celebrity looks we’d happily revisit time and again.
Just when you think all of the possible forgotten looks from the 1990s have remained hidden, along comes another one. How much do you want a really ridiculously small right now? And how much better would it be if it had tiny handles and was rendered in silk-satin (see Kate Beckinsale below)? Or what about those ’90s Kate Moss images you come back to time and again for inspiration on what to wear on a night out? We’ve recently rediscovered a love for old-school SJP and combat trousers, too. The revivals are coming in thick and fast, people. Thick and fast.
Keep scrolling for our guide to the ’90s fashion items, trends, and combinations we wore to death and then forgot about until now.
I’m the first one to admit that I love a good soirée. If you invite me to a party, the odds are high that I will RSVP “absolutely.” You see, I’m one of those really extroverted people that sometimes fall under the category of “life of the party” (if I do say so myself). I’m just one of those people who is always down. I love to dance, I love to meet new people, and I love a great cocktail. There’s nothing better to me than having a great party on your calendar to look forward to, except maybe planning an outfit to wear to said epic party. Outfit planning for a party is an art form. You have to take into consideration a lot of different factors.
What kind of party is it? Are you going to a rooftop party for your friend’s new engagement or a day party in Brooklyn? Are you off to a chic dinner party uptown or your friend’s birthday bash downtown? Is a beach party coming up? Are you attending your friend’s wedding and planning the wedding-guest look of the year? Whatever the occasion, the key is to think about the event you’re headed to and what vibe you’re going for. For parties, you definitely want to wear something you feel comfortable and confident in, but this is also your time to step out of your comfort zone and spice things up a bit—it’s a party, after all!
There are six outfit formulas that I always keep in my back pocket when I know I have a great party on the horizon. Keep scrolling to see which six foolproof party looks I swear by.
Everyone has their go-to outfit uniform, and blazers and jeans just so happen to be mine. Last year, I wore the dynamic duo with everything from bra tops to tanks to oversized tees, and this year, I’m ready for a fresh set of outfit ideas to inspire me this season. If you also love blazers and jeans, the looks ahead will have you just as excited about colder temperatures and ample new ways to get your money’s worth out of all those blazers you are hoarding.
Featuring some of my all-time favorite fashion girls, I have gathered seven new blazer-and-jeans outfits to try this year, accompanied by all the items you’ll need to shop to copy the looks. I highly suggest you save all these cute looks and add as much as you can to your shopping carts so that your seasonal wardrobe is primed and ready to go.
