    Big Geyser, a 40-year-old beverage and snack distributor with a Long Island facility on Willshire Boulevard in Brentwood, is hosting its annual spring and summer trade show on Thursday, April 16, from 1-7 p.m. at the Long Island Marriot in Uniondale.

    The event draws food-and-beverage business operators from across a wide variety of sectors. Attendees will have opportunity to network and discover the newest and trending products distributed by Big Geyser to help them increase profitability through spring and summer. In addition to learning about the distributor’s service, attendees will also have to connect with brands and Big Geyser team members as they prepare for the upcoming season.

    Family-owned and operated, the company represents such brands as C4 Energy, Calypso, Celsius, Electrolit, Essentia, Hal’s New York, Poppi Soda, Sparkling Ice, Super Coffee and more.

    While other distributors represent both alcoholic beverages, Jerry Reda, Big Geyser’s president and chief operating officer, described his company as “the largest non-alcoholic in New York.”

    And, he said, “we focus on ‘healthier for you’ lower sugar or zero sugar beverages.”

    Over the past five years, consumers have increasingly turned to their diets to improve overall , turning to functional beverages – drinks designed to provide specific health benefits, such as boosting nutrition, mental focus, or physical performance –  as a convenient option, according to Innova Market Insights, which tracks trends and data in the food and beverage industry.

    Big Geyser, which, Reda said, prides itself on being “customer service obsessed,” helps clients understand the latest trends.

    “To most of the customers that we service we are their number-one source for the most popular beverages that they sell,” he said.

    The company, he said, hosts the trade show to “present the latest beverage offerings to our customers for the upcoming prime spring and summer selling season.”

  • Moxxie Mentoring to name new leader at Emerald Summit | Long Island Business News

    The will host its 14th annual Emerald Summit on Oct. 30 from 12–3 p.m. at The Heritage Club at Bethpage State Park. This year’s event marks a notable moment for the organization as it prepares for a leadership transition.

    Founder and executive director Beth Meixner will be acknowledged for her contributions to building a strong network that supports . She will step down at the end of the year, with Moxxie alumna and former LIBN associate publisher Jenna Natale, currently the organization’s associate executive director, set to succeed Meixner.

    “I am honored to bestow Moxxie Mentoring Foundation’s future to one of our previous mentees,” Meixner told LIBN.

    “Jenna Natale will bring this organization to a new level and light the way for many more women through our current and upcoming programs,” Meixner added. “I could not be more proud of the organization I founded and all the mentors, board members and supporters who have assisted in its continuous growth.     This year’s summit features networking opportunities and stories of transformation that are centered on Moxxie Mentoring’s mission to “cultivate a workforce of bold, resilient women who lead with purpose,” according to a news release about the event.

    Connecticut-based celebrity chef, cookbook author and TV host Anna Francese is this year’s keynote speaker. Gass has been featured on “Rachel Ray” and “Today” and is a regular guest on “Good Morning America” and “Access Hollywood.” Her story includes shifting from sales leadership to the culinary world, providing an example of career transformation. Her signed books will be available for purchase.

    The event, which is presented by Citizens Bank, will also debut Moxxie Mentoring Foundation’s new logo and website. And it will include the organization’s first mission video, which was donated by Garden City-based NOM Studios.

    The event will also highlight the organization’s 2025 “Purple Pump Award,” given to outstanding mentors and mentees. They include Thais Caldiera, SUNY Old Westbury; Rumaisa Chowdhury, Adelphi University; Suhair Fardan-Samuels, Adelphi University; Destiny Williams, SUNY Old Westbury; Therest Billouins-Roberts, Webster Bank; Lori Fruct, PEO Spectrum; Nicole Stefanakos, Citizens; Tonya Williams, Webster Bank; Maria Girardi, Jaspan Schlesinger Narendran LLP; Kristina Robey, Citizens; and Liz Vickers, crAIve.

    It will also showcase local vendors selling goods and merchandise, corporate partners that support women in the workforce, raffle basket prizes and surprise gifts.

    All proceeds from the event help support Moxxie Mentoring Foundation’s three core programs, which service women at all stages of the careers.

    “The Emerald Summit has long been a place for professionals across Long Island to connect with like-minded individuals: People who believe in the power of mentorship and the critical role mentoring plays in the life of a woman embarking on her career journey,” Natale said in the news release.

    Meixner stressed the importance of mentorship.

    “I always say, I never had a mentor in my life,” she said in the news release. “But had I had a mentor years ago – where would I be? How much further ahead could I have gotten in my career?”

    Meixner went on to say that “I have seen very successful women who have had mentors – men and women – and they’ve really excelled in their careers. That’s the kind of opportunity the foundation aims to create for every woman in our programs.”

  • Alzheimer’s Foundation of America hosts LI family event Sept. 27 | Long Island Business News

    The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) will host a community event on Saturday, Sept. 27, at its new, 11,500-square-foot Barbara Rabinowitz Education & Resource Center in Amityville to mark Grandparents Appreciation Month and raise funds for local dementia support programs.

    The “Family Fun Day” will feature activities, resources and a special appearance by former New York Giants player and two-time Super Bowl champion Leonard Marshall. A $25 donation includes an autograph and photo with Marshall, with proceeds benefiting the center’s services for Long Islanders affected by dementia.

    “We are thrilled to open our doors to the community and invite families to come together for a day of fun, connection and discovery,” Charles Fuschillo, Jr., AFA’s president and CEO, said in a news release about the event.

    The event “is more than just a celebration – it is our way of saying: this center belongs to you,” he added. “This intergenerational event is a celebration of family and community.  We encourage everyone to attend, have fun, learn about the importance of brain , and take a tour of the facility.”

    About one in eight Long Island older adults have Alzheimer’s disease, according to published reports. The AFA aims to provide support, services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide and to fund research for better treatment and a cure.

    At the Sept. 27 event, attendees can learn about the center’s programs and services. Intergenerational activities will include creative arts, brain games and additional games for children, face painting, food, music, balloon artists and more.

    The event will feature raffle prizes, including an autographed Giants football helmet signed by Marshall.

    Diagnosed in 2013 with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a progressive brain disease linked to repeated head trauma, Marshall has since become an advocate for . He has pledged his brain to the Concussion Legacy Foundation and founded two organizations – Brain Unity Trust and the Game Plan Foundation – to support research and raise awareness of neurological trauma in athletes.

    Catholic Health has been named the lead sponsor of the Amphitheater at Bald Hill, an outdoor concert and event facility that holds up to 7,000 people in Farmingville.

    “We are thrilled to partner with Long Island Events and Amphitheater at Bald Hill, allowing us to connect to Long Islanders in a new, fun way,” Catholic Health President and CEO Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy, said in a statement. “In addition to the high-quality health care services we provide, we want this partnership to serve as a reminder to our communities that we’re there for them.”

    Operated by Brookhaven-based Long Island Events, the venue features concerts and music festivals. And Long Island Events says it is planning to invest  in parking-lot upgrades, improved concession point of sale, new backstage amenities for performers, and lower pricing on select tickets for all shows.

    “It was important to all of us at Long Island Events and the Town of Brookhaven that the venue naming rights agreement was made with a partner whose values align closely with ours,” John Caracciolo, CEO of Long Island Events and JVC Broadcasting, said in a statement.

    “Catholic Health is committed to giving back to the community and represents the very best in the delivery of health care services. In partnering with our organization – Suffolk County’s largest outdoor venue—we’re offering Long Islanders a venue to safely enjoy with their loved ones and neighbors,” he added.

    “This amphitheater is an incredible venue for live events, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill,” Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine said in a statement. “The partnership with our spectacular facility, right in the heart of our Town, and the opportunity to associate Catholic Health and JVC Broadcasting showcases our local brands for the benefit of our entire community.”

    The naming rights partnership for The Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill was secured by JVC Broadcasting Company and EGC Media, which is headquartered in Melville.

    As part of the partnership, Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill will feature signage atop the stage, at the facility entrance, on the LIE at Exit 63, as well as throughout the venue and on all promotional material for the venue, including radio and TV commercials.
