  • The Most Iconic ’90s Drugstore Lipstick Now Comes in a Lip Kit—Buy It Before TikTok Sells It Out Completely

There’s something undeniably nostalgic about ’90s beauty trends, and nothing embodies that era’s effortless cool quite like the iconic drugstore lipstick shades we all obsessed over. One shade in particular, Rum Raisin, is currently a staple in every makeup bag, sealing the deal for countless looks, perfect for fall and winter (it’s giving grungy lined lips to berry-stained pouts).

So much so that beauty fans are scrambling to their local CVS to purchase the viral Revlon Merry In A Minute On-The-Run Rum Raisin Faves 3-Piece Lip Gift Set, complete with your all-in-one lip obsession featuring Revlon’s cult-favorite trio—the Super Lustrous Lipstick, ColorStay Lip Liner, and Glass Shine Lip Balm for a complete, long-lasting lip look.

Revlon Merry In A Minute On-The-Run Rum Raisin Faves 3-Pieces Lip Gift Set

Our mission at StyleCaster is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. This article was sponsored by CVS, however, all products were independently selected by our editors. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

The lipstick, liner, and gloss were already so popular as solo items, that the lip gift set is already on its way to selling out.

It’s the perfect product to recreate your favorite ’90s supermodel look due to its long-lasting wearability (it stays put for eight hours!) while visibly enhancing lip fullness with no bleeding or feathering. One of the best features of the lip kit is that the Super Lustrous Lipstick combines high-impact pigment with a creamy, moisturizing formula infused with Vitamin E and avocado oil for a comfortable, lush finish.

When you top it off with the Glass Shine Lip Balm, which drenches lips in sheer color and a glassy glow while delivering 41% more moisture instantly, you’ll remember why the 90s were such an iconic time in makeup. Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe, and Rose Quartz, the balm glides on effortlessly to smooth lines and plump lips with a buttery-soft, non-sticky feel, further proving the versatility of this product, whether your gifting or partaking in holiday glam for yourself.

But aside from the shade, the best part about this lip kit set it’s only $19.99 for three products. That’s what I, personally call a steal, and makes sense why it’s selling out so quickly at stores.

It’s no secret this lip kit won’t stay on shelves for long so before it inevitably sells out, run (don’t walk) to your nearest CVS or add it to your cart *immediately.* Trust us, this is the makeup moment you won’t want to miss.

  • How to use a lip scrub for a pillowy pout

Anyone who loves wearing a matte lipstick knows the pitfalls of applying it over chapped lips. While we’re familiar with body scrubs, how to use a lip scrub isn’t always obvious, which is why we sometimes pick at flakey skin or rub the area with a wet flannel.

And yet, both approaches are too aggressive for our lips. The skin here is more fragile than you may think because it’s thinner than elsewhere on the body. Compared to the rest of your face, for example, which boasts up to 16 layers of skin, our lips only have 3 to 5 layers.

13 body scrubs that would make TLC reconsider the whole ‘no scrubs’ thing

Our lips also don’t have any oil-producing sebaceous glands, which means they are unable to naturally hydrate themselves. This is especially evident during the winter months when lips are more prone to chapping. Not to mention, sun damage and frequent licking can easily dry them out, too.

Lip scrubs can help as they they are designed to gently buff away rough skin. Much like a body scrub, they are typically powered by finely-milled sugar granules, “which are suspended in a nourishing oil to moisturise and give your skin more slip,” says makeup artist Zoe Taylor, who always carries a lip scrub in her kit bag.

What are the benefits of using a lip scrub?

There are several benefits to using a lip scrub. Cracked lips are like a road with bumpy potholes; a lip scrub can help to create a smooth base for your lipstick. It also improves the efficacy of your lip balm or oil as the hydrating ingredients are able to penetrate more deeply if there’s nothing nitty gritty in the way.

Then there are the massage movements you use to apply a lip scrub, which boost blood flow to the area, imparting a rosy pink hue to pale lips and making them look plumper. Applied a long-lasting lipstick? A lip scrub is non-negotiable for helping to remove any stubborn pigment for a squeaky clean surface.

  • Shoppers Say This $7 Lipstick Is ‘Very Similar’ to Charlotte Tilbury & ‘Such a Close Color’ to MAC

Shoppers Say This $7 Lipstick Is ‘Very Similar’ to Charlotte Tilbury & ‘Such a Close Color’ to MAC

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

When it comes to beauty products, there’s nothing wrong with splurging every once in a while. Sometimes, those pricey mascaras and concealers are worth every penny, following through on their promise and then some. But if there’s a good, slightly more affordable alternative out there? Well, we’re always down to save some dough. Which why we’re kind of freaking out over the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Original Satin Lipstick
, which currently on sale for $7 on Amazon.

While the lipstick in general currently has a 4.5-star rating out of nearly 30k reviews, it’s the Fairest Nude color
that people say is a shockingly good alternative to a higher-end brand. Shoppers can’t help but rave about the pinkish-nude shade, comparing it to similar buys from MAC and Charlotte Tilbury.

“Was looking for a good dupe for ‘MAC Blankety’ which is my favorite lip color,” one person shared in their review. “’Fairest Nude’ Was such a close color! I like the creamy formula as well. Really nice alternative if you’re not looking to spend a lot on lipstick.”

Another customer added that it “looks exactly like MAC Honeylove,” while also speaking to the quality in general. “I really like this formula.”

Still, those two MAC products are far from the only luxury lipsticks being replaced by this under-$10 find.

“This is a beautiful lip color! Very similar to Charlotte Tilbury ‘pillow talk,’” someone else wrote. “It lasts at least 4 hours without having to re-apply. I will be buying again!”

Perhaps part of what makes the Fairest Nude shade such a hit is that it’s a color that flatters almost everyone.

“This colour will suit every skintone and it is very nice to wear,” one person confirmed. “Glides on smoothly on lips.”

By now, you’ve likely gathered that an added benefit of this L’Oreal lipstick
is that it won’t dry you out. As the description states, thanks to ingredients like Argan Oil and Vitamin E, the product “leaves lips feeling soft and moisturized for a long lasting lipstick look that doesn’t smudge, smear, migrate or feather.”

“The lipstick is so nice and creamy,” another glowing review reads. “Very moisturizing with excellent stay power. Many times a moist lipstick doesn’t last long..but no need to constantly re apply with this. Love the soft natural color too!”

Multiple customers claim that they’ve become repeat buyers, and honestly, we don’t blame them. Between the color, the moisturizing aspect, and all these high praises, we’re ready to stock up
    — and you should probably do the same.

  • Shoppers Insist This $1 Lipstick From Amazon ‘Goes On As Smoothly’ As Ones From Pricier Brands

Shoppers Insist This $1 Lipstick From Amazon ‘Goes On As Smoothly’ As Ones From Pricier Brands

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a shopping writer, it’s that a product being more expensive doesn’t exactly mean that it is better. This rule especially translates over to the beauty world, where some drugstore products I’ve tried are truly superior to high-end ones. One such product is the Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick

Ringing in at $1.29, the over 26,000 five-star reviews have made a solid case for adding this super affordable lippie to your beauty cabinet.

Available in 36 shades, this Wet n Wild lipstick has a wide color range that includes everything from dusty mauve hues to dark crimson ones. Even more impressive is the fact that aside from the rich color payoff, the formula also includes vitamins A & E and aloe vera, making the lipstick feel extra hydrating on the lips.

Although I have yet to try it out myself, as a self-proclaimed lipstick enthusiast, it’s one I plan on ordering ASAP. When a lipstick meets the criteria of being non-drying and has a fabulous swipe of color, it’s easy to see why so many shoppers are excited to have found this steal. “You don’t have to pay a lot of money to get a quality lip product,” one satisfied shopper noted. “This color is beautiful and goes on as smoothly as my expensive brands
. I could not be happier.”

Another reviewer wrote, “This was my first time using a Wet n Wild Lipstick. I have never been a fan of lipsticks but… This lipstick has truly won me over. I love the way how it applies so silky smooth and it lef
    t
my lips feeling very soft and moisturized
    .”

If you’re still having some doubts about how good this $1 makeup product can truly be, we don’t blame you, but the reviews speak for themselves. As one Amazon shopper said, “I’ll be honest—for the price I wasn’t expecting much. I was sorely mistaken. It’s a rich crimson color and when I apply it on my lips it’s not overpowering at all. I wear it pretty much every day.”

Did your everyday lipstick combo just become that much less expensive? We think so.

  • Prada Beauty Is the High-Brow Swoon of the Season

Prada Beauty Is the High-Brow Swoon of the Season

Miuccia Prada likes to play the contrarian: a onetime communist presiding over a fashion conglomerate, a designer whose notion of sexy tips toward ugly chic. So it goes that a woman known for wearing little discernible makeup is launching exactly that, with Prada Beauty now making its Stateside debut. (The product line made an appearance on the Milan runway last September.) Is it by turns practical, eccentric, militaristic, and oriented for utmost care? Yes to all.

The Monochrome Hyper Matte lipstick bullet is embossed with the crosshatched texture of Saffiano leather, a signature material for Prada’s handbags.

The refillable eye palettes are for archive buffs: Each takes after an original Prada textile, translating retro prints into richly pigmented shadows. Metal-clad lipsticks come in two matte variations; the lip balm is tinted the house’s mint green. Foundation attuned to undertones lends an unfussy polish, while the adaptogen-boosted skin care lineup—cleanser, essence, serum, cream—is as future-forward as Ms. Prada herself. After all, getting older allows for ongoing evolution, as she once put it: “You gain some wrinkles, but— eh—finally, you learn to have fun!”

  • I’m Always Saving Barbara Palvin’s Beauty Looks—I Asked Her How She Creates Them

I’m Always Saving Barbara Palvin’s Beauty Looks—I Asked Her How She Creates Them

There’s absolutely no denying that model has a unique ability to flawlessly execute beauty trends while embracing her natural features. A quick scroll through her Instagram page reveals a feed peppered with everything from editorial photo shoots with major brands to snaps of her everyday life. “When I’m in a time crunch, my go-to products are Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Foundation, Eyes to Kill Wet Waterproof Mascara, and Lip Powder Lipstick,” she explains. “Even just these three products make such a difference in helping me look put-together.” In many of her personal pics posted to her page, Palvin sports fresh-faced, barely-there makeup looks while on the go.

It’s no wonder her approach to quick and easy makeup happens to be the blueprint of the social media–driven “model off duty” look that’s risen to prominence over the past couple of years. Palvin also has a soft spot for 2023’s ‘90s-inspired makeup trends, more of which we’ll be seeing throughout this year on and off the runway. “[I] just want the ’90s strong-lip-liner trend to stay,” says Palvin. In 2024, beauty trends are certainly skewing in her favor, with chocolate-colored liner and full, glossy lips predicted to stick around a while longer with modern-day products.

The arrival of January gives us the perfect opportunity to hop on the last of winter’s beauty trends, and I’ll be taking cues from Palvin to kick off the New Year in style. “I always love to go with a stronger lip—not necessarily a classic red lip, but maybe something deeper and darker,” she says. To create this bold look, she layers Armani’s Lip Power Matte in shades 603 and 207. The stunning lip combo is also her go-to during the holiday season.

  • These Are the Exact MAC Lipsticks That Had '90s Pop Culture Icons in a Chokehold

These Are the Exact MAC Lipsticks That Had '90s Pop Culture Icons in a Chokehold

MAC Cosmetics has a long storied history in the beauty industry. Ever since the Canadian-born company launched in 1985 as Make-up Art Cosmetics, it’s been a favorite of beauty lovers. By the time the ‘90s rolled around, MAC’s popularity would reach new heights. The brand would become the go-to for professional makeup artists making magic both onscreen and on the red carpet. You couldn’t open a beauty magazine without seeing a mention of the brand. Chances are if you were watching a movie or TV show, the actor was wearing some sort of MAC product. It was everywhere. Some of our favorite stars even wore MAC lipsticks off-duty.

Teens in the ‘90s all knew that the MAC counter in the mall was the hottest destination. They were innovating the beauty industry year after year. In 1994, MAC made history when it launched the very first VIVA Glam campaign, featuring then-rising drag star RuPaul. MAC even created a custom lipstick shade for one of the world’s biggest pop stars of the time to use on her tour. MAC continues to become a makeup mainstay in pop culture. After all, it was only last year when MAC sold out of its Nightmoth lip liner after it was revealed to be used on Jenny Ortega in Wednesday!

If you’re feeling inspired to time-travel back to the ‘90s and recreate iconic lip looks from some of the era’s biggest stars, keep reading to find out which ones to add to your cart. Sadly, some were discontinued, but a lot of them are still available (like the brick-red lipstick Jennifer Aniston wore in Friends!).

  • According to a Self-Proclaimed Lipstick Hater, This Satin Formula Is Elite

According to a Self-Proclaimed Lipstick Hater, This Satin Formula Is Elite

What makes this satin formula different from the other lip products that you’ve launched in the past?

Mario Dedivanovic: We’ve had a nice collection of matte, liquid, and glossy formulas but didn’t have a classic creamy lipstick, which is what I’ve always used the most. This satin formula is classic yet modern in that it glides and grips the lips with super comfortable wear. The color story is also unique because the shades are inspired by and pay tribute to NYC, where I was born and raised.

What are your best practices for applying lipstick? Should you always wear a lip liner? Should you wear a lip balm underneath?

You can pair SuperSatin Lipstick with my UltraSuede Sculpting Lip Pencil, especially if you’re trying to re-create my signature Lip Lift technique, but the formula works beautifully by itself if you want to skip the pencil step. Lately, I’ve been into a blurred/stained lip, so I start by using less lipstick to get the look.

What advice would you give to someone new to wearing lipstick and trying to find the right shade for their skin tone?

Start by finding a shade that resembles your natural lip color since no color will be more flattering than the one you were born with. This will be a perfect everyday go-to shade that looks good with everything. Most important, though, is choosing a shade that makes you feel good and that you find most flattering. I say let your intuition guide the process. You’re drawn to what you like for a reason.

What’s your favorite shade in this collection?

All the shades in this collection are special to me, but my absolute favorite is Bronx Baby. I grew up in the Bronx and wanted to name my favorite shade after the neighborhood I’m from. The shade reminds me of a soft, warm rose lipstick my oldest sister Vicky used to wear and is an easy, simple way to wear nude every day.

J.Lo Re-Created Her “Jenny From the Block” Makeup Look Using 4 Key Products

Then, J.Lo says it’s time to “pick your favorite red.” While she doesn’t disclose the exact red lipstick she uses, it looks like it’s this one from Kosas, which is a neutral brick red. (The old packaging was black.)

She applies it to the middle of her lips straight from the bullet. “Then I take a lip brush and detail the corners,” she says as she creates small, precise strokes around the edges of her mouth. “When I think of red lips, I think of Marilyn Monroe, but I also think of Gwen Stefani. I think of Taylor Swift.”

With the lip brush, she brings the color slightly outside the edge of her natural lip line to create a fuller, plumper look. “I always draw a little bit bigger when I do a red lip,” she says. “You can get away with that.”

  • Shoppers Are Loving This Red Lipstick For the Holiday Season—’Stays Put & Doesn’t Bleed’

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Lipstick may be the last thing on your mind amidst the holiday chaos, but if you’re still on the hunt for that perfect holiday red—or a new lipstick formula to add to your collection in general—Jane Iredale’s ColorLuxe Hydrating Cream Lipstick is the one to beat.

The brand regularly partners with dermatologists, plastic surgeons, estheticians and makeup artists to bring consumers some of the best skin-loving formulas in the biz. The launch of its rich-yet-weightless, pigment-packed lipstick is no exception—it glides on effortlessly and brings hydration to the lips. All 15 shades offer high-impact color and a creamy satin finish.

The above is all you can ask for in a perfect holiday red, with the addition of longevity. As one reviewer wrote, “I wanted a rich creamy red lipstick for the holiday season. I ordered Scarlet and it’s just what I wanted. Glides on smooth, stays put, does not bleed around mature lips. Pigment is rich and deep. Great product!”

Each vegan and cruelty-free formula brings bold play-off and a no-tug texture. They’re also formulated with restorative shea butter to keep your lips locked with moisture throughout wear, and botanical extracts to soften fine lines and keep your lips supple. Portulaca Pilosa Extract, one of the main ingredients, is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and is capable of soothing skin and supporting collagen production.

According to the brand, the lipsticks also bring an approximate 4-hour wear time before needing to be reapplied. Though take note, some shades stain the lips as the formula wears down, resulting in even longer wear time.

Despite only recently launching this Fall, the ColorLuxe Hydrating Cream Lipsticks have already garnered a fair amount of reviews with an overall 4.5-star rating.

“I love this lipstick and I’m very picky about lip products. My lips are always dry and crack easy. This formula is very hydrating. I love the pigmentation and it’s long lasting on the lips. The first shade I got was toffee, a lovely nude more ideal for fair to light skin tones. Passion fruit is beautiful on its own or paired with the lip liner in shade berry. This color is gorgeous for any skin tone. Espresso is beautiful! I am obsessed with this color for fall. This is a shade I would have never reached for it but I instantly fell in love,” wrote one reviewer.

Pick up a festive red (or whatever suits your fancy) for all your upcoming holiday soirees.

  • New Shades of This French Lipstick Only Launch Once a Year—Snag the Latest Drop

New Shades of This French Lipstick Only Launch Once a Year—Snag the Latest Drop

Quite literally the only bad thing about this lipstick is that I’m constantly wishing for more shades. Although I’m impatient, I have serious respect for the brand because it only launches new shades of this delicious, velvety goodness (yes, it’s so good I almost consider it a dessert) once a year. The newest hue to join the family is Cerise Désir, meaning “cherry desire” in French. It’s sophisticated, vibrant, and definitely makes a statement.

The mastermind behind this brand, French makeup artist Violette Serrat says this one is a modern rendition of a classic burgundy shade that’s reminiscent of a full-bodied red wine with a blend of dark cherry. It’s easily one of the prettiest lipstick shades I’ve ever laid eyes on, and I cannot wait to add it to my collection.

Normally, I tend to gravitate toward more neutral, everyday lip shades, but this rich, mysterious burgundy is perfect for the holiday season. I also appreciate that this color is universally flattering. It adds a beautiful pop of color to fairer skin tones but is pigmented enough to look bright and bold on Black and Brown skin as well. Just because it’s not in my nature to gatekeep, I’m listing my other favorite Petal Bouche Matte shades below.

  • I Didn’t Think My Dream Lip Gloss Existed (Until I Met This One)

I Didn’t Think My Dream Lip Gloss Existed (Until I Met This One)

“We sought out to create a lip gloss that hydrated as well as pigmented. As part of our Light Lock collection launch, this lip gloss became the shining star. We really wanted to have a delicious after-scent but in clean formulations—nothing is added for just vanity,” she said. “The peppermint and lavender make for a light plumping effect and mood boost, eliminating any icky after-feel.” The peppermint, in particular, stood out to me, as a single swipe of the product led to a cooling and soothing effect unlike any other lip gloss I’ve gotten my hands on.

Knowing its formula is clean and completely free of harmful ingredients while it protects the surface of my lips from environmental aggressors made me that much more drawn to it. The Light Lock Lip Gloss applies similarly to what we may expect from the lip oils that have gone viral over the past couple of years, but it packs a major pigment punch and doesn’t lack in the shine department. “Most glosses focus on shine without considering wear time. We’ve all dealt with the disappearing lip,” Chavez continued. “For us, everything has to be stage-proof. We started with a nourishing formula of skin smoothers, coconut oil, and lip enrichers—so it treats your lips first and delivers non-stick shine as a brilliant second win.”

  • High-Design Lipsticks Are the Accessory of the Season

High-Design Lipsticks Are the Accessory of the Season

“It was horrendous, and it was fast. The whole thing was over before I’d actually drawn a breath,” says makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, recounting a moment of stomach-dropping triumph: winning Audrey Hepburn’s lipstick case at Christie’s in 2017. (Auction records show a healthy five-figure tag, hence the 1950s relic “lives in a very big safe,” she adds.) The Cartier tube, made of 18-karat gold with a cabochon sapphire, hails from a time of everyday pageantry, before plastic upended cosmetics packaging. Now, amid a push for more fanfare and ideally less waste, lipstick is again an object of infatuation. What’s inside still counts—Eldridge gleefully discovered the actor’s shade of salmon pink, which may yet spark ideas for her own line—but glamour demands a package deal.

A ceramic-clad lipstick in grisaille toile de Jouy—Dior Beauty’s feat with French porcelain maison Bernardaud, called Rouge Premier—is a fitting place to start. “It’s as close as you can link it to a haute couture dress,” says Peter Philips, creative and image director of Dior Makeup. Offered in a dozen interchangeable shades, the new formula features red hibiscus extract (skin reviving) and 24-karat gold (why not). “It catches people’s attention,” he says of the design, “but in a very discreet, very elegant way.” That is, if one manages not to drop it.

Lipstick, of course, can communicate as much in hand as on the mouth. This season for Hermès, Pierre Hardy has given his striped bullet a dip-dye effect, a moody gesture in three variations. By contrast, Chanel’s 31 Le Rouge is airy and architectural. The refillable glass case, belted in gold and built to accompany a roster of 12 shades, has an improbable Cinderella appeal: fragile yet ready for the ball. “The Japanese master glassmaker worked an absolute miracle,” says Sylvie Legastelois, Chanel’s director of packaging creation and graphic identity. “This lipstick is like a jewel.” Meanwhile, Guerlain’s holiday entry is unmistakably a bauble: a gem-studded bee perched on a Rouge G case by Turkish jewelry brand Begüm Khan. Bee-stung lips indeed.

There’s a history of lipsticks playing outside the cylinder: Elsa Schiaparelli’s trompe l’oeil melting candle (c. 1940), Louis Nichilo’s Leaning Tower of Pisa (c. 1960), Salvador Dalí’s fluted tube with a 3D mouth (c. 1990—an inspiration for Pat McGrath Labs). But Isamaya Ffrench’s LIPS puts the innuendo front and center: Its shiny phallic case looks as if Louise Bourgeois and Jeff Koons partnered on the design. (A suite of refill shades arrives later this month, joining the existing three.) Ffrench, who collects “weird and beautiful objects,” is pleased to add to the canon. “Surprisingly, such a simple concept can be so hard to execute,” she says. “No pun intended.”

  • Red velvet makeup is every bit as delicious as it sounds

Red velvet makeup is every bit as delicious as it sounds

You can forget your coffee. Textures have taken over from food and drink (see: toffee and latte makeup) as beauty’s favourite inspo. Although the latest trending “Red Velvet Makeup” feels like it bridges the two. It conjures rich red velvet chocolate cakes and soft, plush fabrics in one hit.

Just as fashion is getting more layered heading into the colder months (trading out gauzy chiffons and breezy linens for cosy knits, cord, brocade and – you guessed it – velvet), we’ve seen a return of full coverage, soft statement makeup. Sheer skin tints and lip oils are making room for some richer textures to shine (or, um, not – as the case may be). Which brings us back to red velvet makeup.

    What is red velvet makeup?

Red velvet makeup sees the classic red lip get a modern makeover with luxe matte or semi-matte formulas that add cosy dimension and glam opulence to makeup. The texture should be soft, sensorial and (almost) edible.

How to wear red velvet makeup?

We’ve seen the trend remixed and tailored to work across a range of looks, from dark merlot reds, to optical illusion ombre reds. Here’s some of our favourite ways to wear it…

    Dark, diffused red velvet lips

Vanessa Kirby‘s dark brown-toned red makes a stunning contrast to her very fair complexion.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

    Ombre red velvet lips

For a modern twist, this ombre red is very on trend. The darker perimeter and brighter middle draws your eyes in to the centre of lips and makes them look fuller.

    Semi-sheen red velvet lips

  • Rosalía’s “Cherry Cola” Lip Combo Involves This Iconic Lip Tint

Rosalía’s “Cherry Cola” Lip Combo Involves This Iconic Lip Tint

As a beauty editor, I love seeing celebrities experiment with different makeup looks and aesthetics rather than commit to just one. It’s for that reason that I consistently check in on Rosalía’s Instagram and TikTok. One minute, the singer-songwriter is wearing blue eyeliner with a slicked-back braid. The very next, she’s wearing glossy lipstick with wet-look waves. She seems to take an experimental approach to beauty, and I, for one, love it.

With all that said, there’s still a certain element of her beauty routine that she keeps coming back to, and that’s her signature red-brown, glossy lip. To me, it’s the perfect example of the “cherry cola” trend, in which a nude or brown liner is paired with a cherry-red lip color and topped with gloss. Lucky for me, Rosalía recently shared a tutorial on TikTok, so now I know the exact products she uses to create her take on the trend. Keep scrolling to see them all.

  • After a lip plumper that won’t burn or irritate your skin? These are the best options to consider

After a lip plumper that won’t burn or irritate your skin? These are the best options to consider

Lip plumpers are currently having as big a moment as the volume they promise to impart. From lip glosses to lip balms and even serum-like concoctions and lip pencils, there’s no shortage of impressive products on the market to choose from if you want a more pillowy pout.

The good news is that lip plumpers have evolved enough for them not to cause an unpleasant burning sensation or irritation. You’ll rarely find aggressive old-school ingredients such as cayenne pepper or cinnamon in newer formulas, and even those that still lean on mint do so in a much more subtle, skin-friendly way.

Hyaluronic acid is the ingredient du jour, making lip plumpers moisturising, gentle and effective, as well as suitable for dry, tender skin. Oils are also popular as a shiny finish reflects light, giving the illusion of fullness.

How you use lip plumpers has also moved on, too, allowing you to use them as a finishing touch or as a way to prep your lips for your favourite lipstick and lip liner.

To be clear, though, lip plumpers are not an alternative for lip fillers and it’s unlikely that you’ll get similar tumescent results. Although they’re designed to boost blood flow to the lips – usually via a gentle minty flavour – the result is temporary at best.

Even those powered by skincare ingredients, including collagen and peptides, make your lips appear slightly fuller over time but this is no way comparable to what you would get with cosmetic lip-enhancing procedures.

  • We’re 99% Sure We Know Taylor Swift’s Date-Proof Red Lipstick

We’re 99% Sure We Know Taylor Swift’s Date-Proof Red Lipstick

There’s a school of thought that I simply can’t subscribe to: the idea that you should never wear red lipstick on a date. As a red-lipstick devotee, I will wear red lipstick for any situation, including and not limited to a date. I do see the predicament, however—red lipstick is a bold choice, and it may not be ideal to end up with it smeared all over your (or your date’s) face.

At least one person agrees with me—Taylor Swift. This weekend, Swift and rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce stepped out for date night in New York City. For their Saturday-night date, Swift went with her signature red lipstick. If you were one of the many people in various comment sections talking about how you could never wear red lipstick on a date, I get it.
