From Hailey Bieber-inspired lingerie to cheeky bottoms, keep reading to shop our picks.
The phrase one size fits all definitely doesn’t apply to bras. Whatever you think your bra size is, there’s a high chance you’re wrong. Sorry. Just ask any bra fitter, and they’ll tell you that most women walk away with a completely different size than what they’ve been wearing for years. In fact, research by M&S found that 38% of women are unsure if, or know whether, they are wearing the correct bra size.
If, like us, you haven’t bothered to have a professional bra fitting in several years, or are too shy to ask for help from the professionals — after all getting you bra size measured can be quite intimidating — don’t worry, we get it.
While it’s a personal choice whether you wear a bra or not, if you do wear one, you’ll want to ensure it’s right. But before you resign yourself to a life of discomfort or give up on bras completely, we’ve called on the bra fitting experts at Wacoal Europe to break down exactly how to measure yourself for a bra in the comfort of your own home, so you have absolutely no excuse for wearing the wrong size.
SKIP TO:
First up, why is it important to have a well-fitting bra?
While the wrong size bra may not seem like a big deal, it can cause some real physical problems –but that can be rectified in a few minutes. Bras that are too tight can damage breast tissue and even cause breathing difficulties. Inadequate support can lead to longer term problems such as neck, shoulder and back pain, as well as pinched nerves.
Stripe & Stare Smooth Sculpt Padded Bra
You’re also more likely get longer-term problems like poor posture and premature sagging, which can feel unpleasant. According to experts, with around 4cm range of sway in every direction, very gentle movement while using the wrong bra could be enough to stretch your delicate skin.
Suzanne Pentland, one of Wacoal Europe’s Professional Fit Specialists says a well-fitted bra, whatever the size, should fit snugly around the band, the underwire needs to sit behind all the breast tissue, and sit flush at the centre separating the breasts. The bra cups need to encase all of the breast tissue, and mould to your breast shape with no spillage or creasing in the cup. And this is the case for all bra styles – from push-up bras like the Skims pick above, to backless bras.
How often should you measure your bra size?
Breasts can fluctuate in size and change as often and as drastically as this unpredictable British weather, be that from weight or hormonal changes, particularly during pregnancy, period cycles, contraceptive pills, or menopause. For that reason, you should have a bra fitting every six months to a year to ensure that you are wearing a perfectly fitted bra all year round.

How do you check if you need a new bra?
Fabric stretches, and therefore so do bras, so using an old bra is not an accurate way of measuring your cup size or judging if you need re-measurement. They start to lose shape at around the six months mark as the elastic fibres in the band and straps begin to deteriorate. You may need to start looking into investing in a new bra if you’re seeing the following signs:
1. Your band is riding up your back
A band that’s sitting in the wrong spot, particularly too high, even on the tightest hook, means the bra is stretched out or too loose. Most women make the common mistake of having the band be too large, and the cup too small.
2. Your cups are digging into your breasts
Perhaps one of the most obvious signs is if your breasts are spilling out of the cups and you find yourself seeing “double boobs” in tight-fitting shirts. This means your cups are too small.
3. Your cups gape
Any gaps between your breasts and the bra is not a good sign, even if you’re shifting out of your cups as you move, because this means your cups are too large for your breasts or simply the wrong shape.
4. Your straps keep slipping
If you’ve tried and failed multiple times to tighten your straps but they keep falling off your shoulders, they’ve lost their elasticity.
5. Your bra is showing visible signs of wear
No matter how much you love your bra, if it’s starting to look a little tired (the underwire is poking through or the straps are fraying), it’s time for a new bra.
How to measure your bra size with tape:
All you’ll need is a full-length mirror, a soft tape measure and your top off, although make sure you’re wearing a comfortable but unpadded bra and stand up straight while you’re taking measurements. Here’s how to do it:
Tape Measure for Body Measurements
1. Measure your band size
Measure (in inches) quite firmly around your ribcage, just below where your bra fits. This will provide your under-band measurement. If the number is odd we advise that you round up to the next even whole number, such as 31.2 to 32.
2. Measure your bust size:
Measure around your back and the fullest part of your breasts, again in inches. Top tip: use your nipples as guidance, making sure the tape is flat against your back but not pulled too tightly. If the total is showing a decimal place like 36.5, go to the nearest whole number.
3. Calculate cup size:
To calculate your cup size, subtract your band size (as referenced in step one) from your bust size (as referenced in step two). Every inch difference is a cup size up e.g. 0 inches =AA; 1=A; 2=B; 3=C; 4=D; 5=DD; 6=E; 7=F; 8=FF and so on.
Dorling Kindersley
Now before you think that you’re all done, you’re not. While this gives you an approximate bra size, it won’t necessarily be totally accurate. That’s because boobs also vary in shape – which is totally normal, by the way.
So, if you or someone you know is in the market for another robe to add to your (or their) loungewear collection, do read on – because below you’ll find a round-up of 17 super soft, comfy and editor-approved dressing gowns ranging from designer to premium and high street must-haves on the market right now.
Everyone’s dressing gown, bathrobe or housecoat has a different purpose, so it depends on what you need one for to see what makes them a good dressing gown. Fan of a waffle robe that looks just like the one you’d wear in a spa? The White Company has got you covered with their cotton waffle robe. Squishy fleece dressing gown fan? This long, hooded soft fleece dressing gown from high street hero M&S is selling like hot cakes, complete with deep pockets, a classic belt fastening and a hooded neck. Dreamy. Elsewhere, you’ll find satin and silk robes to wear on top of your best lingerie, and classic, crisp white cotton dressing gowns to wrap up in post everything shower/bath.
Where can I buy a really good dressing gown?
With so many bathrobes for women out there, it may be tricky to find the best ones, which is why I’ve created a refined edit from some of my much-loved labels. But you may need to consider what you’re buying a dressing gown for – do you want one to put on to dry yourself after a shower? Then you’ll want a towelling dressing gown from the likes of Next and Desmond and Dempsey. Prefer a fluffy dressing gown to keep you cosy when you do your hair and make up? Then check out The White Company, Marks and Spencer and Soho Home. If you prefer a lighter layer, you can add over pyjamas or that’ll look chic over lingerie, then Pour Moi and luxury label Olivia Von Halle are the destinations. If it’s a gift for someone, then Boux Avenue will lovingly wrap the robe in tissue paper in a gift box with smelly sprinkles. There really is a bathrobe for everyone.
What is the difference between a bathrobe and a dressing gown?
So, what makes a good dressing gown, you may ask? Well, before we get into the non-negotiables, first we must learn the difference between a dressing gown and a bathrobe. Walk with me here, OK, because this is important, I promise. Although these trusty staples are very similar, they each have a different purpose.
We have the functional pure cotton or terry towelling fabrics, designed to be breathable and absorbent straight after the shower or bath. Then we have the more snuggly option of chenille, fleece or cashmere dressing gowns — AKA a ‘house coat’ — that retains body heat throughout the day (shout out to the “I’m always cold” crew). Finally, we have the glamorous velour, satin or silk textures that purely serve all year round. Whatever your preference, I think we can all agree that maximum comfort and durability are key.
Whether you call it a bathrobe, a dressing gown, a housecoat, or an emotional support loungewear layer, they’re all quite similar. But if you want to know the functional difference between them, a bathrobe is aptly named a ‘bath’ robe as it’s typically used when you’ve got out of the bath or shower. Often made from a towelling or terry fabric (like your bath sheet), this can be used instead of your towel to put on to dry you after a relaxing bubble bath. These are usually also heavier and thicker to make sure they’re absorbent and will keep you warm as soon as you’re out of the water –something you need if you live in the United Kingdom during the winter months.
When it comes to a dressing gown, though, these are often made from lighter fabrics such as satin, cotton and jersey as they usually become part of your loungewear collection, worn as an extra cosy layer over pyjamas or joggers when you’re chilling on the sofa watching Netflix. And as for the more snuggly option of chenille, fleece or cashmere dressing gowns, aka a ‘house coat’, these retain body heat throughout the day (shout out to the “I’m always cold” crew).
Are expensive bathrobes worth it?
Everyone’s judgement of what may be classed as expensive may be different, but let’s just say are bathrobes that are over, say, £150 worth the money? In my opinion, yes. Because if you buy better, you buy less. And you don’t want to have to buy a new dressing gown to replace one that gets tatty quickly, do you? To know if it’s actually worth the extra spend, though, make sure to look at the description online or the care label to see if it’s made out of more luxurious materials and check how to wash it – no one wants to be spending a lot of money on a bathrobe to have to take it to the dry cleaners!
When it comes to a dressing gown, it’s also worth considering how much you wear it. Much like your favourite pyjamas or sweatshirts, you’re bound to wear them so many times each week that the cost-per-wear won’t actually be that much, even if it is more spenny to buy in the first place.

When I pulled out my Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show getting-ready outfit from the shopping bag delivered to my doorstep, I was stoked. To be honest, I’d always wondered what it felt like to be one of the Angels getting her makeup done backstage in the brand’s signature Satin Short Piped Robe ($60). Mine even came with the official VS merch emblem emblazoned in crystals on the back. Both the crystals and the matching baseball cap (which is sadly now sold out from the “Shop the Show” drop) made up for the fact that I had to do my own makeup before trekking it to Brooklyn’s Duggal Greenhouse for the return of the legendary VS runway.
Still, it was the outfit I slipped on after wearing the pink robe, the one I would ultimately wear to the show, that made me the most nervous: the Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit ($130). It was far more daring than the loungewear I had been sporting before, and I nearly put my foot in my mouth when I saw just how see-through the material actually was.
As it would turn out, model and former First Lady of France Carla Bruni wore the very same design on the runway as I looked on from my seat in the audience, admiring her confidence. Suddenly, I didn’t feel so eager to cover up in my oversize denim jacket anymore. In fact, seeing what my fellow showgoers were wearing also made me feel more liberated in my lingerie as we all watched a VS Fashion Show that was more body inclusive than ever before. Don’t get me wrong: the brand still has a long way to go, in my opinion — viewers all over the world expressed that same sentiment after the spectacle wrapped — but getting to wear lingerie that’s typically reserved for Angels made the runway fashion feel more accessible.
Ahead, learn how I styled the VS Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit, worn by Bruni, and read my full review of the piece, which is still shoppable online.
Bruni, who celebrated getting her wings ahead of the show, wore the VS Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit with the Lace Lightly Lined Demi Bra and the Twinkle Strap Lace Corset Set. Her shimmering beaded wings, chunky stone hoops, and wraparound sparkling stilettos amplified the glitzy boning on her top, with the catsuit itself acting as the foundation of her whole look.
As the wing-less spectator I am, I felt it appropriate to layer with an oversize denim jacket from Frame and opted for simple black pumps. I kept on my hat to add a sporty twist. Underneath, I was rocking the VS Shine Patch Lightly Lined Wireless Bra ($45) and VS Logo Cotton Shine Patch Hiphugger Panty ($15), a bra and underwear set I highly recommend for anyone who who prefers just a touch of glamour but favors comfort above all else. The wireless bra felt so smooth and lightweight, whereas the panties provided just enough coverage underneath the stocking-like bodysuit, without adding bulk.
Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit Review
As time went on, I grew to appreciate the catsuit more and more — and not just because I was inspired by Bruni’s confidence. It really does have a stretchy feel to it so that it fits like a second skin. I also appreciate design details such as the illusion front panty panel and vertical front seams, which add undeniable sex appeal but sophistication all the same. The back zipper is also easy to maneuver without any help; and from a style perspective, it really does look good with a pair of heels, regardless of how many layers you add up top.
My only gripe is that the sweetheart neckline is very low cut and the chest area is wide open, so if you want to layer a bra beneath the built-in cups, it will definitely be visible and may not align exactly how you pictured it. My advice is to try it with a few different bra and panty sets underneath until you find the perfect match for your shape.
Of course, just like with a pair of tights, you’ll want to pull up this bodysuit carefully because the lace embroidery is definitely delicate.
Additional Details About the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit
The catsuit comes in sizes XS-XXL. I took my usual size, XS.
It’s unlined and partially made from recycled materials, including recycled polyamide and recycled elastane.
Since there’s no back coverage, you will see your bra band from behind (and it’ll likely peek out in the front, too).
I started by looking at Cuup’s size chart, and quickly realized I needed to size up in the band. (I usually wear a 40, but a 44 looks closer to my measurements per its sizing.) I also decided to try a 46, as cup sizes get larger as the band does, and I figured that could help me find the cup depth I need. That ended up being the right move, as the cups on the 44G were too small, but the ones on 46G were much better — and even more so after taking the advice Torres imparted about Cuup’s mesh bras: “My rule of thumb is you need to wear the product for a good one to two hours, because the compression that we’ve used in the mesh is really taut. You might feel like, ‘Oh, is this too small?’ It’s actually not. It’s easing into your body, and then, after a two hour wear, it’s the perfect size. It’s just one of the complexities of the technology within the fabric that remolds to the temperature in your skin.”

As a brand, Skims has released many an iconic campaign, viral product (ahem, that nipple push-up bra isn’t playing around), and bestseller. Founded by Kim Kardashian and Emma and Jens Grede in 2019, the company was valued at $4 billion in July 2023, according to Forbes. And whether or not shoppers are Kardashian fans, the brand still seems to have go-to collections that continuously sell out.
The Fits Everybody line is made with a signature stretch fabric that truly is butter-soft (in fact, I’m wearing the classic thong right now and I describe it as feeling like “nothing.” In other words, it’s a second skin). The Soft Lounge launch gave way to everyone’s favorite long slip dress, which most people attest to be the most flattering body-concious piece they own. And the Seamless Sculpt range provides every piece of shapewear you could possibly imagine layering underneath that slightly skin-revealing look you’ve been trying to figure out how to style.
Of course, Skims has been most notably praised for its sizing (XXS-4X) and incredible assortment of nude shades to complement skin tones. Its adaptive products feature added hook and eye closures and front clasps for accessibility, though the brand is overdue for introducing more styles. Nevertheless, if you’re new to shopping Skims, we highly recommend you start with the top-rated picks that most folks rave about on social — and these 11 are it.
Bridgerton fans, we’ve got some big news. No, not another new series (yet). Even bigger – Nicola Coughlan is officially a Skims girlie.
Kim Kardashian has had a busy few months of campaign drops with Skims, but after successful – and occasionally surprising – launches with everyone from Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Cooper, Lana Del Ray, Usher and, most recently, England footballer Jude Bellingham, we have to admit the latest might be our favourite so far.
Unveiled today as the face of the lingerie and shapewear giant‘s latest Soft Lounge collection campaign, Nicola Coughlan is every inch model material as she is shot by Elizaveta Porodina – the iconic fashion photographer adored for her conceptual and ethereal aesthetic – and poses amidst a backdrop of dreamlike florals and soft, romantic lighting.

Has anyone checked on Colin Bridgerton recently? Because he’s going to want to see this.
“I’m so honoured to be in Skims’ latest campaign!” Nicola said of today’s launch.
“I’ve been a fan of Skims since the beginning. It’s been my on set lounging outfit since day one.”
“I love that it’s a brand that makes everyone look and feel amazing. The Soft Lounge styles are incredibly flattering, comfortable, and so soft, and so beautiful. Whether I’m wearing them at home or on set I always feel incredible in Skims.”
We couldn’t be more obsessed with the idea of Penelope Featherington kicking back in her Skims and slippers between scenes, by the way.

Three men now have their panties in a bunch after being arrested for allegedly stealing over $24,000 worth of merchandise — mostly Victoria’s Secret underwear.
A three-man retail theft crew now has their panties in a bunch after being arrested for allegedly stealing over $24,000 worth of merchandise — mostly underwear from Victoria’s Secret.
Fairfax County Police Capt. Dana Ferreira said the thieves stole the items Wednesday in Prince William County. Later in the day, they drove to Tysons Corner Center, and detectives were alerted about the car through their automated license plate recognition system.

“They immediately got to work and located that vehicle in the garage,” Ferreira said. “And we were able to use the mall’s cameras to determine who dropped off several passengers that were moving about the mall.”
After taking the suspects into custody, officers found the stolen undergarments, which were from Victoria’s Secret, police said. Detectives are only aware of the alleged thefts in Prince William County, but are working to see if the suspects committed similar thefts in other areas.
“They stole them from a relatively high-value retailer,” Ferreira said. “So they’re items that would normally sell for a pretty high cost. The suspects probably believed they could sell them at a lower cost than the retailer was charging and still make a healthy profit.”
Ferreira said they are seeing a rise in larceny offenses in the area and are making a concerted effort to disrupt these operations to show thieves it’s not even worth coming to the D.C. region to perpetrate these crimes.
Felix Perez, 57, Amauri Roman Sanabia Balbuena, 44, both of New Jersey, and 38-year-old Jonathan Peralta Cabrera, of New York, are being charged with grand larceny and other related charges.

While some call it superstition, the color of your underwear on Valentine’s Day can at least usher in the type of romantic luck you hope to cultivate in the year ahead. Renowned fashion psychologist Dr. Dawnn Karen, Professor at FIT, conducted a study on the power of red, surveying 115 people who were viewed differently based on their backgrounds and where on their body (or in their outfit) they wore the shade. While Dr. Karen didn’t incorporate underwear specifically, she found the effect of red to be astounding, significantly impacting how passersby interpret someone’s levels of promiscuity and attractiveness.
When asked about applying her findings to popular Valentine’s Day lingerie colors — including red, pink, black, and white — Dr. Karen calls it a twofold street. “Wearing your underwear as an individual can have the same effects generating self-love as it can generating outwards love towards another,” she tells POPSUGAR. Since choosing your bra, briefs, or bodysuit is a personal decision, we asked Dr. Karen to weigh in on the meaning behind all four hues so you can determine your mindset while selecting your underthings on Feb. 14, whether you wish to send a message to yourself or to a partner.
To put it simply, red is the most stimulating and seductive choice, pink is a reflection of kindness, black errs on the side of mystery, and white symbolizes purity in your relationships. But Dr. Karen breaks it down even further, unpacking the rationale behind carefully curating your intimates for the hallmark holiday. Ahead, we’ve applied her outlook to a shopping roundup of lingerie sets, arranged by color. Whether you’re seeking a sporty boy short and bralette combination, a delicate lace teddy, a strappy garter and tights, or a whimsical, floor-length nightgown, there’s sure to be a silhouette that speaks to both your intention and plans this Valentine’s Day.
There’s nothing rare about Selena Gomez being on our best dressed list, but the singer and beauty mogul is never one to get too comfortable. Her first major appearance this year (aside from all of the award show red carpets) was a wonderful winter-white outfit worn to celebrate the launch of Rare Beauty’s new Find Comfort body collection.
Notably, a key component of the look was a Victoria’s Secret corset. Worn under a sleek Giuseppe di Morabito suit jacket and trousers, the super-structured $70 garment appeared to be comfortable enough for prolonged wear.
So why not borrow a styling trick from Gomez and embrace high-low winter statement dressing? Shop her head-to-toe look below. Or start with the corset, and mix and match your way to creating the complete outfit for a price point that’s a bit less rare for your wardrobe. Accessorize with silver jewelry that can be worn on repeat, and boom: Look at her now.
Bluebella’s sizes now go up to an F-cup in bras and a 26 in briefs and nightwear, plus, they have a dedicated DD+ section on their site. Their black lingerie offering is particularly great, so if you’re after a contemporary twist on classic styles, you won’t be able to go far wrong… though we’re partial to these colourful designs, too.

Ahead, we’re sharing our tips for finding the best petite lingerie, from ultra-sexy corsets you’ll want to show off to classic, lacy bralettes you can slip under a tee. The main goal should be to buy something that makes you feel like the sexiest version of yourself, and with this extensive shopping list, you’re bound to achieve it.
Best Petite Lingerie: Bras to Enhance Your Bust
The Tip: If you want to add a little volume to your chest area, skip full-coverage cups like those you’d see in a typical T-shirt bra and opt for shorter ones instead. Balconette bras lift and support while enhancing your cleavage, while styles with strappy detailing on top give the illusion of bigger boobs and add a sexy twist.

Not only does this pushup bra from Cosabella feature shorter cups, sizing starts at size 28A. If you’ve got a petite frame that requires a smaller band size, this one was literally made for you.

If colorful floral lace isn’t your thing, try this black triangle option from Journelle. It adds just a little edge to an otherwise sweet style.
If you plan on showing off your lingerie look, the Kimmy Balconette Bra from Victoria’s Secret will really wow ’em. Reviews say it’s specifically made for those with a smaller bust, although sizing ranges from 30A to 38F, meaning there are plenty of options.
“I have very small breasts and this bra fits them perfectly,” says one review. “The padding is interesting but I like it. Can easily add more if needed.”
Best Petite Lingerie: Adjustable Straps
The Tip: The best pieces of petite clothing allow for customization and lingerie is no different. Trade those typical buttons, hook-and-eye closures, and even simple straps for strings you can tighten and other adjustable styles. Now, you can have the perfect fit with no tailoring required.

You no longer have to worry about your lingerie looking loose and ill-fitting. By adjusting the straps and tightening the lace-up detail in the back, this design from Mapale will be snug as you want. Bonus: it comes as a set, so you can wear it with the tiny thong, too.

Maybe your ideal piece of lingerie is something simple but spicy. While this romper is casual enough for everyday wear and could even work as pajamas, the plunging neckline is what gives it a boost. And, while it does look a little baggy at first glance, you’ll be able to keep everything in place with the tie in the back, which is connected to the straps and helps to hold them upright.
It’s not too often that you come across a fully adjustable bodysuit, but there are so many ribbons and ties on this option from Oh La La Cheri, there’s no way you can’t create the perfect fit. Customers do warn that it’s made for shorter torsos, but that might end up being beneficial for those of smaller stature.
“Bought this as a bachelorette gift for a friend,” one positive review reads. “She loved it and said the fit was perfect. She’s 5’2 130lbs DD. Very adjustable. Well made and seemed to be nice quality.”
The best thing about designs that tie in the front? The tighter you pull, the more cleavage you get. And while this top is technically lingerie, it’s simple enough to get away with wearing out, too.
Best Petite Lingerie: Pieces For Emphasizing Your Legs
The Tip: If have a longer torso, consider buying lingerie that plays up your legs and makes them the center of attention. One way to do this is by choosing a three-piece set that comes with a garter belt and straps. The vertical lines along your leg will work to lengthen you without having to put on a pair of sky-high heels. Another option is choosing panties and bodysuits that are higher cut, giving the illusion that your stems belong to a 6ft supermodel.

The Swiss dot print and ruffled garter make this 3-piece set (which also comes in plus sizes) feel like the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. You’ll also be nailing two petite fashion tricks in one, thanks to the bust-enhancing strappy bra.
When shopping for sexy lingerie, there’s no need to splurge on a million pieces. Suspender tights like these can be worn with whatever else you have in your collection (or nothing at all) and will definitely draw focus to your bottom half.
If you’re lusting after For Love & Lemons’ garter belt sets but don’t want to drop hundreds when buying underwear, there are a handful of cute alternatives out there. Nasty Gal, for instance, makes a super similar, embroidered, sheer 3-piece look, which is currently on sale for just $37.

This Skims thong is high-waisted and high cut, lengthening your shape as it hugs you and holds you in. Many customers add that it’s comfy and has since become their go-to underwear style.
“These are my favorite panties for sure!” says one review. “The fit and feeling when I have them on make me feel so sexy yet comfy! The way they hug my waist makes me want to show it off for real lol”
Best Petite Lingerie: Balance a Shorter Torso
The Tip: One situation shorter women might encounter? Trying on a bodysuit that’s just a little too long through the mid-section. To avoid this, wear a corset or a longline bra with a pair of matching panties instead of a one-piece. The two pieces will basically touch in the middle, giving off a similar vibe yet looking even more flattering.
Fleur Du Mal designs some of the prettiest lingerie on the market, but its selection of corsets and longline bralettes is second to none. This piece features oversized floral lace that will take your partner’s breath away. For the full effect, wear matching panties, too.

Of course, if you want the feel of a fancy set without the designer price tag, there are plenty of options that are a bit easier on your bank account. This lacy longline bra from Ann Summers will surely turn the heat up, and combined with the matching bottoms, will total less than $30.

Not everyone is the same size on both the top and bottom. If you’ve got a larger bust, skip buying a pre-made set and shop the pieces separately. Fancies Full Figure Longline Underwire Bra goes up to a size 36G and will look great with basic black undies, too.
Corset tops continue to be all the rage, and while Meshki’s version can surely be styled with jeans, nothing is stopping you from rocking it in the bedroom once the night is over.
Have you ever found yourself digging through drawers to find that one black bra you know you had (or thought you had) that you now really, really need? “Just like this nude one, but in black!” You say aloud, trying to convince yourself you owned it. But you probably didn’t—and clearly I’ve been in the same boat.
The fact is, there are so many different types of black bras that we need not just for style, but for functionality and comfort. There are times when a black bra is a necessity, whether it’s because of a strap reveal or the type of fabric you’re wearing as your next layer. Taking your unique shape into consideration, it’s also important to be mindful of product specs. Does your black bra have adjustable, removable straps that you can crisscross at the back? Is it equipped with extra padding at the bust, a supportive under band, or a deep-V plunge for low cut tops?
You see, you actually need more black bras than you think, which is why we’re here to break down the essentials. From wireless triangle bras and bralettes that are ideal for lounging to full-coverage, wire-free T-shirt bras comfortable enough to move in and wear all day, we’re shedding light on the internet’s top picks.
These black bras all have detailed reviews that highlight their benefits, including the more superficial features, such as intricately embroidered lace at the trim or logofied straps. Even if you’ve been wearing bras for decades, like I have, you probably still some questions about them. I know I do. So, to help us out, Kirstin Sweeney, GM of Sales for Bendon Lingerie, part of New Zealand’s Bendon Group, founded in 1947, shares some of the dos and don’ts she often sees involving in her role.
Sweeney believes the foundation of any confident look starts with the right bra, so ahead, she shares her bra fitting tips that’ll help you choose the right one and then maintain it.
Don’t Go by Looks Alone
“A bra might look gorgeous on the hanger or in photos but remember, its main job is support,” says Sweeney. “Always try it on, move around, and listen to how your body feels in it.”
Do Get Fitted By a Bra Expert
“Our bodies change – through age, lifestyle, and events like pregnancy,” says Sweeney.
“This is where a professional bra fitting can come in. They’re like a personal pep talk for your body. The right size bra can boost posture, promote breast health and ensure all-day comfort.”
Don’t Stick to Old Sizes
“Just because you were a certain size two years ago doesn’t mean you still are that size,” says Sweeney. “Sizes can change due to various factors. Embrace the evolution and get refitted.”
Do Prioritise Fit Over Price
“A quality bra is an investment in your comfort and health,” says Sweeney. “While we’re all for scoring a good deal, fit and comfort should always be the top priorities.”
Don’t Ignore Care Instructions
“Bras, especially ones with delicate fabrics or wires, need love and care,” says Sweeney. “Hand washing and air drying can extend their life significantly.”
Don’t Assume One Size Fits All Brands
“Finally, know that not all brands size the same way,” she says. “Always try on bras from different brands, even if you think you know your size.”

Lingerie is downright beautiful, but it can also be downright terrifying. For some, it takes the world of undergarments to a completely unexplored place. Garter belts? Teddies? Balconettes? Chemises? Yes, there is way more to educate yourself on than simply bras and underwear. Since we’ve grown accustomed to spending more time at home, there really is no time like the present to brush up on your lingerie knowledge and do a little shopping while you’re at it.
A brand representative from Journelle was kind enough to inform us of the dos and don’ts when it comes to tackling these often intimidating underpinnings. Whether it’s your first time wearing lingerie or you consider it part of your daily wardrobe, we can guarantee that these tips cover it all. As soon as Halloween is over and the calendar flips over to November, I always think of Mariah Carey’s famous “it’s time” line. What could possibly be a better way to mark the beginning of the holiday season? Well, Victoria’s Secret has an answer. The brand just launched a festive, star-studded campaign with Taylor Hill, Hailey Bieber, Imaan Hammam, Grace Elizabeth, and more. The photos feature the perfect mix of sexy lingerie and cozy, comfy pajamas for the holidays.
I got to chat with one of the campaign stars, Taylor Hill, about all things holiday fashion. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask her about her #1 lingerie trend of the moment, and she was quick to give an answer. “We’re already seeing an early emerging trend of lingerie worn as outerwear, and I think this trend will only pick up in popularity in 2024,” Hill told Who What Wear. “It’s amazing to see women define and embrace their sexiness in so many different ways.” This means you’re officially encouraged to wear your corset with jeans, your bra as a top, and your thong with a sheer dress.
I also asked Hill about her favorite pair of PJs. “Long modal pajamas are my favorite in the winter,” she told me. “They’re the perfect way to feel cozy yet put together and I just love how they feel when I lounge around the house. My favorite is Victoria’s Secret’s Modal Long Pajama Set ($70) in the color Lipstick. It’s such a perfect color for the holidays. My sisters and I always love a matching pajama moment throughout the holiday season.”
Switching gears from pajamas to lingerie, I asked Hill about her thoughts on the sexiest new pieces from the holiday line. “The Gold Floral Embroidery pieces are glamorous standouts from the Very Sexy collection. But I also found the long glitter sets in silver and gold to be sexy in an unexpected way—I could totally see me styling these as part of my holiday party looks paired with heels.” Scroll down to shop new arrivals from Victoria’s Secret.
