Earlier this week, Mendeecees Harris sat down for an interview on Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover.

During their conversation, the LHHATL star cleared up some misconceptions about his longtime relationship with Yandy Smith, revealing that they were never legally married, despite years of public perception. Harris also said that their relationship is officially over.

According to Mendeecees, while fans watched him and Yandy exchange vows on television, the marriage was never legally binding. That reveal led to the reality star confirming that the relationship has since come to an end.

“We not together. We was never legally married, so [we’re not getting divorce],” he said during the interview.

Mendeecees and Yandy’s relationship was a central storyline throughout multiple seasons of the Love & Hip Hop franchise. Having been together for nearly two decades, fans got a front-row seat to their on-screen wedding, Mendeecees’ past legal issues, and their issues as a longtime couple.

When asked if the marriage viewers saw was “for TV,” he replied:

“Listen, no. I didn’t do it for TV. It was Yandy’s idea,” he began. “In the beginning, I was going through legal battles with courts and fines, and she said, “Let’s not sign the papers.” I was like, all right, cool. Then it kind of just stayed that way. Then we got married again, and we still didn’t sign.”

Mendeecees continued, “If I look back now and see what people go through with divorce, assets, all that, we don’t got to go through none of that. You know what I’m saying? It kind of worked out.”

Mendeecees did not go into detail about what led to the breakup, but he did say that they’ve been separated for a while now.

“I’ve known Yandy for like 20 years. Right now, we’ve probably been split up for over a year,” he said.

News of their split comes shortly after Tamar Braxton was accused of creeping with Mendeecees, which the singer denied.

The songstress, 48, released a statement Tuesday, Dec. 2, denying blogger Funky Dineva’s allegations that she was creeping with Mendeecees Harris the night she “woke up in a pool of blood.”

After noting that she worked on her Heartbreak Retrograde EP throughout the summer and was especially proud of its release, Tamar slammed allegations that the acting she did in her accompanying short film was an actual look at her love life, calling the allegations “hurtful and completely untrue.”

“Let me be clear: this is a lie,” she wrote. “It’s sad that the moment you achieve something meaningful, some people choose to respond with gossip and sensationalism. These rumors don’t just touch me—they touch our families, our kids, and our loved ones, the people who never asked to be dragged into nonsense. I had hoped by now we’d see better from those who claim to report responsibly and love our people.”

She ended by noting that her legal team is now handling the matter.

“As for me, I’m staying focused on what I love: creating, storytelling, and making music and films that matter.”

  • ‘Girl, Bye!’ Spice Slams Erica Mena’s New Cam Newton Interview About ‘Taking Accountability’ For #LHHATL ‘Monkey’ Melee

‘Girl, Bye!’ Spice Slams Erica Mena’s New Cam Newton Interview About ‘Taking Accountability’ For #LHHATL ‘Monkey’ Melee

On Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, he gave her a platform to address the controversy. While claiming to take responsibility for using the racist slur against a Black woman mid-argument, Erica teared up once again about offending “women of color.”

“I learned for the first time in all the years of reality TV that my actions have a lot more of an impact than I ever thought it had. And I’m disappointed in the fact that I let down women of color who felt that I was speaking in that manner,” the 36-year-old explained.

However, Erica’s supposed apology still managed to put the blame on Spice and LHH producers. She claims calling the Jamaican star a “blue monkey” would make more sense with the full context of their argument leading up to it.

“I do wish that more of her actions were shown so the audience had a better understanding of what provoked me to actually say that initial comment,” Erica deflected.

“At the same time, I’m taking my accountability,” she continued. “Regardless of what she was doing, I really wholeheartedly feel that it was just all wrong in the choice of words. I just wasn’t expecting her as a single mom to go for the jugular of using my kids to kind of like attack me.”

Some comments on The Shade Room post about it agreed with Erica that addressing her motherhood and children meant all bets were off. Others thought Erica was too comfortable around Black people while still displaying anti-Black bias more than once.

Considering most of her audience is Black, that was a wild choice for a low blow, and fed up fans demanded serious consequences. As BOSSIP previously reported, backlash over the “blue monkey” melee led to Erica’s firing from LHHATL after more than 15 years with the franchise. She also lost her acting gig on the ALL BLK series Hush

While others quickly forgave, this latest apology wasn’t enough for the woman Erica Mena wished had died during her near-fatal surgical complications. Spice entered the chat to clap back about Erica’s “victim mentality” and history of colorist comments. She responded to the interview clips in the replies to The Shade Room’s post.

“Girl bye, at least you confessed that you requested to speak to me, because on a normal day you couldn’t sit at my table because I been knew you think you’re better than dark skin girls. I heard how you spoke about me behind my back, you just got caught on Camera that day,” Spice wrote.

The Dancehall star added that her own actions during the argument don’t explain Erica’s track record. Spice pointed out that her reality TV rival previously used “black monkey” to refer to another Black woman.” She also slammed the former video vixen’s excuses for her actions. “No one can’t provoke you to say racial slurs,” Spice added.

“Take me out of the equation since you still have a Victim mentality in our situation. What was the reason you called the promoters in Miami Black animals and monkey, why did you call Johnni Blaze a black monkey?(Everything is on Google),” the singer continued.

“You brought your own son to the conversation, and you came to that table to talk about Amara’s twins, no one can’t provoke you to say racial slurs. Remember ‘You are a repeated offender’ you have no remorse for a culture that put millions of [dollars] in your pocket. You could have said anything but you chose to disrespect a whole Nation. Interviews are not therapy but Carry on,” she concluded.

Welp, Erica might have found forgiveness elsewhere, but Spice is clearly ready to let the chopper sing about the situation.

Check out Erica Mena’s full interview with Cam Newton on Funky Friday below. In addition to the LHHATL drama, she opened up about co-parenting with Safaree, dating as a bisexual woman, and making millions on OnlyFans.

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta is barreling back onto TV screens and bringing with it fresh faces, unresolved trauma, and a potential love triangle amid a rapper’s recent block spinning.

After an explosive mid-season finale, the docu-series is returning with all-new episodes on Tuesday, January 9th at 8 pm ET/PT.

A press release reports that the cast is focused on healing after last season’s intense division.

As the crew moves toward a new renaissance, intent on restoration and renewal, some members realize that the road to healing and finding joy, brings up a host of unresolved trauma including addiction, grief, infertility, abuse, and assault, which causes them to shed their tough exteriors and make way for vulnerability.

Speaking of being vulnerable, rap superstar Saucy Santana is joining the series and opening up about his relationship with former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood alum ZellSwag. Zell is embracing his sexuality with their relationship, but it looks like things are on the rocks.

“Can I show you off?” Zell asks Saucy in the trailer. “Why can’t I just show off our love?!”

Later, however, they’re clashing over their respective careers.  “B***, you sitting at this table because of me,” says Saucy. “You’re sitting at this table because of ME!” counters Zell.

As for Spice, she’s on a journey of accountability and redemption as she tours the world.

She is also getting back into activism with the Grace Hamilton Foundation and campaigns alongside Yandy to get the vote out.

She’s apparently not, however, looking to grant grace to her former friend Karlie Redd. After their messy fallout, Spice seemingly wants nothing to do with her.

Yandy and Mendeecees have reached mogul status in Atlanta, but they’re facing some issues at home.

The couple has multiple million-dollar businesses while simultaneously exploring running for City Council. Yandy is also supporting her cousin through the IVF process by donating her eggs to her.

Mendeecees apparently thinks the egg donation process is a bad idea.

“Our children will be walking around here with a sibling, you sound dumb,” he says in the trailer.

In a highlight of the trailer, viewers see Scrappy’s ex/baby mama discuss potential “cross-contamination” between her and rapper Diamond. Diamond was previously linked to Scrappy, but in recent months, Scrappy’s made it clear that he wants to spin the block with his other ex.

In the trailer, he even says he wants to “come around and shoot his shot” because he can “do it better this time.”

Despite that revelation, Diamond wonders if he’s been seeing both of them without the other one’s knowledge.

    Yikes!

The former reality TV star recently opened up about her disgraced departure from Love & Hip-Hop after she was fired for hurling the racist slur, “blue monkey,” during a fight with Spice

In a recent interview on Carlos King’s Reality With The King podcast, Erica packed on her best “blackfishing” bronzer to apologize to Black fans but she still had smoke for Spice and her “weird” ex-bestie Sierra Gates.

    Oh, Erica…

As BOSSIP previously reported, Erica’s “blue monkey” comment sent shockwaves through the L#HHATL cast and social media. Following days of online outrage, the franchise announced firing Erica on Instagram and that she would not appear in future seasons. ALLBLK also fired her from the series Hush in the aftermath.

Although Erica claims she wants to “take accountability,” she spent much of the interview pointing fingers at the show’s producers as well as Spice, Sierra Gates, and Yandy Smith. She claimed that Spice and other cast members didn’t even know about the “monkey” comment until producers told them for “great ratings.”

“If it’s as bad as the network says it is, why wasn’t I let go a long time ago?” she asked. “I would’ve been more content with that than the way they did it. You promoted this fight for most of the year.”

“I really feel like production went and they were like, ‘Oh my God, this is going to be great ratings, let’s go with it.’ And what they failed to realize is yeah, it brought ratings but it also brought backlash that you now have to save face for and probably lost a lot of sponsorship.”

Copping pleas to save face and secure the bag after disrespecting Black people? Well, that sounds familiar.

Several comments clocked that Erica is seemingly doing the same thing after fumbling multiple bags in the backlash. “I knew I f***ed up,” she said.

Erica claims that she wasn’t thinking about race when she went toe to toe with Spice. She explained that the racist nature of the insult was just a “coincidence.”

Many fans immediately called out VH1 and #LHHATL producers for letting the “monkey” comment slide without consequences. Erica Mena hopped on that bandwagon. She revealed they still had her filming confessionals until the day before producers announced her termination on Instagram.

According to the model, “there’s a lot that happened inside that establishment that was edited out.” After security escorted Erica outside, she said Spice continued taunting her, and that somehow reminded her of a monkey.

“Next thing you know, she comes to the window where I’m standing. She’s lifting up the blinds, banging on the window. Next thing I know, I see her putting her a** in the window. Between the banging and putting her a**, I’m like, this b***h is taunting me,” Erica said.

“Honestly, it wasn’t anything but her banging on the window and her putting her a** up that reminded me of [a monkey] in that moment, not a race, an individual, her. The way she’s bantering me from inside putting her a** [on the window] and banging.

Telling her side of the story only made it sound worse. That still sounds like something Trump would say, so it’s pretty racist, regardless. Erica seemingly only learned that she should call Black people a different animal.

“So, what do you think, like, you’re a f*cking animal. Was it the wrong choice of animal? Yes. But in that moment I felt completely violated by a woman that I really respect,” she continued.

    Girl, what?

After all this time, Erica could only muster an apology to the Black people and fans she offended.

“I just want to take accountability and I just want people to know now more than ever the state of being mindful and more aware of the things I say and do is officially solidified in my life…but I’m not racist and I’m not a colorist and I’m sorry to the people who I offended,” she said.

The mysteriously melanated Ms. Mena refused Carlos’ invitation to apologize to Spice because she wasn’t “genuinely broken” by the “monkey” comment. However, she said she still has “love” for Spice.

Erica added that before the fight, Spice hurt her by believing “gossip” from her ex, Safaree. That’s not the only friendship she lost over her baby daddy’s straaaaaait shenanigans.

Not even Erica Mena’s closest friends think she deserves to beat the racist allegations. She revealed cutting off former bff Sierra Gates because she was “weird” for waiting so long to expose Safaree’s sexual advances. This friendship isn’t just on ice, it’s broken and blocked now.

“I will never hear from Sierra again and I personally made sure of that,” Erica Mena shared.

“Sierra just because she is weird. You can’t claim you’re my friend and go out the way you did. Because you literally took 20 days just to tell me that my ex-husband was trying to get at you.”

On the show, Erica said Sierra confided in her about Safaree shooting his shot. However, she’s suspicious that it took her three weeks to expose him.

“If you are really my friend and my ex-husband (Safaree) tries to get at you, are you not going to pick up the f***ing the call the same moment it happens – like ‘yo get your baby daddy?’ You definitely had some other motives,” she continued.

Sierra went on Instagram Live to confirm the friendship breakup, which only “legitimized that you’re guilty” to Erica.

Sierra Gates Claps Back At Erica Mena’s Excuses About Cutting Her Off: “You Always Had A Complex Abour Your Lighter Skin”

The beauty business mogul took to the comments on The Neighborhood Talk’s post about the ex-bestie beef. It’s hard to tell if Sierra was more offended by the racist comment or accusations about a sneaky link with Safaree. Either way, Sierra let the chopper sing!

“Girl bye literally! You’re just mad cause I spoke up and said you was wrong for calling Spice a black [monkey] & made the monkey sounds! You always had a complex about your lighter skin don’t make me tell it,” she wrote.

“I was always on your a** ’cause I loved you! Bye and, again, nobody don’t want no ticking time bomb a** safari, we literally watched you go from 160 pounds to 99 & we had to nurture you back to life when he cheated on you I didn’t want to break your heart again!”

Erica seemed to subtly shade Sierra’s response to the interview. “Some of us are SO POWERFUL that enemies HURT THEMSELVES TRYING TO HURT YOU,” she captioned a video on X (formerly Twitter).

Something is definitely “weird” here, but it’s not Sierra.

Jesus, take the wheel and the tanning lotion!
