Someone in Arkansas may have won the $1.8 billion Powerball grand prize on Christmas Eve, but four players in North Carolina also got a slice of the pie.
The North Carolina Education Lottery reports four people in the state had winning tickets in the Dec. 24 drawing.
- In Charlotte, a ticket worth $50,000 was sold at a Circle K on Randolph Road.
- In Monroe, a player won $100,000 with a Power Play ticket from Jack Mart on Wilkes Drive.
- In Mayodan, near the Virginia state line, a $50,000 prize was won on a ticket from the SK Mart on West Main Street.
- And in Asheville, a ticket worth $50,000 ticket was sold at a Stop N Go on Hendersonville Road.
Odds of winning $50,000 in Powerball are 1 in 913,129, the game reports.
Winners have 180 days from the drawing date (Dec. 24) to claim their prize, officials say.
The person in Arkansas who won the $1.82 billion has not yet come forward to claim the prize. The jackpot has a cash value of $834.9 million, Powerball officials say. Odds of winning the top prize were 1 in 292.2 million, officials said.
