$460 Million U.S. Army Contract for Multi-Mode Aviation Radio Set Awarded

A $460 million U.S. Army contract for a multi-mode aviation radio set was awarded.

The U.S. Army has awarded BAE Systems a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract with a ceiling value of $460 million for the AN/ARC-231/A Multi-mode Aviation Radio Set (MARS). This award consists of hardware components, repair services, engineering and logistic support, and development for rotary-wing aircraft.

The MARS system is designed to perform in the most demanding environments to provide warfighters with secure mission-critical information when they need it most.

In today’s complex and contested battlefields, operators rely on fast and accurate communications to inform key decisions in the field. MARS’ programmability reduces the time to field evolving communication needs, special mission modifications, and performance enhancements. The software communications architecture and software-defined radio design enable fielding new capabilities as software-only upgrades.

“We provide communication solutions with scalable software deployment in support of tactical missions where speed and relevance of information matter most,” said Amber Dolan, director of Adaptive Communications and Sensing at BAE Systems. “This airborne radio design enables the U.S. Army to upgrade their rotary-wing fleet with the latest secure waveform that can be tailored for each mission for years to come.”

The AN/ARC-231A MARS system is comprised of the RT-1987 radio with associated ancillaries, including amplifiers and mounting bases. It is the newest generation of multi-band, multi-mission, airborne communications system with Type 1 Crypto Modernization. It’s focused on configurability and allows for flexible integration and mission deployment options that ensure interoperability for joint force operations. Available through foreign military sales, it provides internationally compliant air traffic control communications and full range of mandatory U.S. and NATO capabilities.

The radios will be developed and produced at BAE Systems’ facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with engineering support in Largo, Florida.

With more than 100,000 radios deployed globally, BAE Systems’ battle-proven communications products offer nearly double the reliability of legacy products. The company’s compact radio sets also offer multi-band, secure anti-jam voice, data imagery transmission, and network-capable communications.

Two people are dead and a child is in critical condition following an apartment building fire in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Tuesday morning.

The Prince George’s Fire and Rescue Department said first-responders arrived on Harry S. Truman Drive at the Northampton Apartment Homes in Largo, after receiving a call just after 3:45 a.m.

When crews arrived at the scene, part of a stairwell collapsed, and flames could be seen coming through the top of one of the apartment complexes.

Fire officials told WTOP that the fire happened on the third level of the apartment building and caused the roof to collapse. Crews were able to put out the fire just before 4:45 a.m.

The young boy pulled out of the fire remains in “very critical condition.”

The body of an adult female was found under the rubble after an adult male was declared dead.

A neighbor told WTOP’s Luke Lukert that the man was a father, but his relationship with the boy has not been verified.

Damage was mostly contained to the one apartment building, but officials told WTOP that some of the fire extended to nearby buildings.

A dog that was inside the apartment during the fire was also rescued and resuscitated.

Lukert reported that smoke continued to smolder hours after flames were extinguished.

Fire investigators are at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A map of the area where the fire happened is below.

  • Hulk Hogan, 70, Surrenders His Life To Jesus – 'Greatest Day Of My Life'

Hulk Hogan, 70, Surrenders His Life To Jesus – 'Greatest Day Of My Life'

The legendary former wrestling star Hulk Hogan recently took to social media to reveal his “total surrender and dedication to Jesus.”

    Hogan Surrenders To Jesus

Hogan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a series of photos of himself and his wife Sky Daily Hogan getting baptized.

“Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life,” he wrote. “No worries, no hate, no judgment… only love!”

The video Hogan shared shows him getting baptized with his wife alongside Aaron Filippone of Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Largo, Florida, according to Church Leaders.

    Hogan’s Christian Faith

Hogan revealed back in April that while he has technically been a Christian for much of his life, he is now making God his main priority.

“I accepted Christ as my savior at 14yrs old, and the training, prayers and vitamins kept me in the game,” he explained at the time. “but now that I am one with God, the main event theme of surrender, service and love makes me the Real Main Event that can slam any giant of any size through the power of my Lord and Savior and so it is, even now brother, AMEN!

Hogan had also opened up about his faith at various other times over the years.

In a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Hogan said that after everything he’s been through in life, he “realized all that stuff – the peace, love, the joy, that still, small voice, the energy, that God presence – is part of who I’m meant to be.”

“As long as I made the right choice and followed my faith more than what people were saying, more than what the newspapers or tabloids were saying, and didn’t get sucked into that. None of that stuff is real,” Hogan previously said. “The only thing that is really real is the stuff that’s going to last forever.”

“Your faith and your belief in God and knowing that once you’re a Christian, you’ve accepted Christ as your savior, you’re not gonna perish but have everlasting life,” he continued. “That belief in itself and that faith is what’s pretty much the only thing that’s real to me.”

    Hogan Marries Again

Hogan married Sky Daily Hogan, who is a 45 year-old yoga instructor, at Indian Rocks back in September after dating for over a year, according to The New York Post. The wedding was small and very spontaneous, with only the couple’s children from previous marriages attending. Hogan’s daughter Brooke, who he shares with his ex-wife Linda, was noticeably absent from the nuptials.

“As many of you know, I value my privacy, but unfortunately, a lot of media outlets are making assumptions as to why I did not attend my father’s third wedding,” she said after the wedding. “Instead of leaving it to speculation, I decided it’s better to shut it all down here.”

“… For my own journey to healing and happiness, I have chosen to create some distance between myself and my family, and am focusing on people and things that heal my heart and align with my own personal beliefs, goals, and values,” Brooke said. “I wish him well.”

Regardless of what is going on with his family life, we’re so happy for Hogan that he has devoted himself to God. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments section.
