    The survey, conducted among a diverse group of 2,000 adults in the U.S., aimed to shed light on the various ways individuals express love and how they prefer to receive it in return. The results revealed intriguing insights into the dynamics of relationships and emotional connections.

    Topping the list of ways people express affection is quality time, with 23% of respondents valuing moments of undivided attention, while 20% prefer to express their feelings through thoughtful gift-giving, and 19% through helpful acts of service, like lending a hand with chores.

    In terms of receiving love, the survey found that 24% of participants cherish quality time the most, followed closely by gift-giving and acts of service, each garnering 20% and 19% of preferences, respectively.

    • Rely on Discipline, Not Motivation: Create a routine, allocate dedicated time, and maintain consistency in efforts. Recognize that progress may not always be linear.
    • Find Your Tribe and Celebrate Successes: Belonging to a supportive community aids in overcoming challenges. Share experiences and celebrate achievements to reinforce intentions.

A staggering 85% of respondents indicated that they believe human interaction is either “very important” or “somewhat important” in new language learning experiences.

    When it comes to the preferred approach to language learning, 39% of survey participants expressed a desire to learn a language with an equal combination of both human and AI tutoring.

    Despite the growing prevalence of AI in education, the survey results highlight the irreplaceable role of human tutors in the language learning process.     60% of US adults reported feeling more confident speaking another language after having a few alcoholic drinks, a recent poll from Lingoda finds

    With Cinco de Mayo celebrations just around the corner, Lingoda, one of the top global online language schools, revealed in a new study alcohol’s effect on language confidence. In a nationally representative poll of 2,000 U.S. adults, more than half (58%) of participants responded they struggle with confidence when trying to speak another language. 

    Even more (60%) reported feeling more confident speaking another language after having a few alcoholic drinks. 

    Issues with confidence are also more frequent among younger Americans, the Lingoda survey found. Nearly three-quarters (71%) of participants aged 21 to 24 and 74% of those aged 25 to 35 reported struggling with confidence when speaking a foreign language.

    Among the participants in the younger age groups, a greater percentage also reported feeling the confidence-boosting effect of alcohol. More than three-quarters (79%) of respondents aged 21 to 24 and 69% of respondents aged 25-34 said they felt more confident speaking another language after a few alcoholic drinks.

    “The results of our recent survey reflect directly how many of us feel at some point in our language learning journey,” says Philippa Wentzel, Lingoda’s Curriculum Team Lead. “We’ve all had this feeling before when we might not be confident enough yet to speak in the new language that we are learning. And often we just start speaking without feeling embarrassed or self-conscious after we have had a few alcoholic drinks,” she says. 

    “But there are definitely ways to learn how to speak another language with confidence that do not involve alcohol.     Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Lingoda, one of the top global online language schools, revealed in a new study that being bilingual can make you more attractive to others on dating apps. In a poll of 1,000 single and actively dating adults in the U.S., 66% of participants stated that they are more likely to “swipe right” on someone if they speak more than one language. 

    And nearly half of poll respondents (45%) admit that they have lied about speaking another language fluently on their dating profile. 

    Among 25- to 34-year-olds, bilingual singles may fare even better. In this group, 77% stated that they are more likely to “swipe right” on someone if they speak more than one language. But beware: a majority of the respondents in this group (54%) say they’ve lied about speaking a language fluently on their dating profile.

    So does this mean that being bilingual makes you more attractive? And should you lie about your language skills to improve your romantic prospects? 

    “In our recent survey, we did not ask the participants why being bilingual was an attractive or desirable characteristic for potential partners to have,” says Philippa Wentzel, Lingoda’s Curriculum Team Lead. “But research shows that speaking more than one language enables you to navigate more than one culture, and you model the values and attitudes of the cultures of the languages you speak. Language skills allow you to view and experience the world in more than one way,” she says. 

    “In dating, we may perceive someone who is bilingual as more interesting, or more ‘deep’ – along with other benefits of bilingualism. At Lingoda, we believe in a communicative approach to language learning: mastering a language means being able to speak it with confidence, which is also often something that we look for in a prospective partner. Our language lessons also focus on real-life language and cultural context, which means that you can impress your potential date with conversations in another language without even having to lie about it”, says Wentzel.
