    Lanes of the George Washington Parkway and the Route 50 westbound off-ramp at the overhead crossing of I-66 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Jan. 14 through Jan. 17.

    Over the next few nights, the George Washington Parkway will see overnight lane closures.

    Lanes of the GW Parkway and the Route 50 westbound off-ramp at the overhead crossing of Interstate 66 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Jan. 14 through Jan. 17.

    It will involve single-lane closures with periodic 15-minute full stops on the parkway in both directions.

    The District Department of Transportation will install protection shielding on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge during the overnight closures.

    DDOT said protection shielding is crucial for cleaning and repainting key components of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, which is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

    The rehabilitation project aims to extend the life of the bridge by 20 to 30 years and improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The Roosevelt Bridge has been in service since 1964 and sees about 25% of the D.C. traffic across the Potomac River, totaling around 32.6 million vehicles each year.

    The total cost of the rehabilitation project is expected to be around $128 million.

    Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes during these closings.

  • Nighttime lane closures on I-65 planned for traffic camera pole installation

    Sep. 4—Nighttime lane closures are planned this week and next on Interstate 65 in Morgan and Limestone counties as the Alabama Department of Transportation installs traffic camera poles for its expanding Intelligent Transportation System.

    The $2.5 million advanced corridor management project, handled by contractor Ozark Safety Services, runs from Exit 334 at Alabama 67 in Priceville to Exit 354 at U.S. 31 in Athens. The work includes 84-foot-long concrete poles that will stand 70 feet above ground once installed.

    Weather permitting, lane closures are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Thursday night, closures will affect I-65 northbound near milepost 346 and a westbound lane on Alabama 304/Huntsville Brownsferry Road at Exit 347.

    Additional nighttime installations are planned in Limestone County next week:

    Tuesday: northbound at mileposts 349 and 353.

    Wednesday: southbound at mileposts 352 and 354.

    Sept. 11: near mileposts 343 and 344.

    The project will add 11 new cameras on I-65, including one on an existing pole at Exit 340. Phillip Day, ALDOT’s North Region Traffic Systems Management and Operations coordinator, said the effort will nearly complete camera coverage between Priceville and Athens.

    “They’ll significantly expand coverage,” Day said. “We will have cameras covering nearly the entirety of I-65 from Priceville to Athens.”

    The project also calls for two new overhead dynamic message signs, two Road Weather Information System stations, and communication devices including radio and fiber optic cable. Once the cameras are operational, livestreams will be publicly available at algotraffic.com and on the ALGO Traffic app.

    According to ALDOT, the cameras are used to detect and monitor roadway congestion and issues, helping the department coordinate with first responders. The agency said it does not record or store footage.

    (FOX40.COM) — The California Department of Transportation is reminding drivers of various lane closures and delays that will take place along Interstate 80 beginning on Sunday and lasting until Thursday in some parts of Northern California.

    Caltrans said it performed an “extensive field review” of the I-80 corridor in 2023 and found “an unprecedented amount of damage” with some areas exhibiting moderate to high levels of rutting due to chain wear.

    The agency adds that the upcoming extended lane closures will help minimize the project’s duration to repair I-80 while simultaneously speeding up the project’s completion and improving its workers’ safety.

    “Caltrans reminds motorists to ‘Be Work Zone Alert’ and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements,” Caltrans said.

    Traffic delays and lane closures can be expected here in Placer, Nevada, and Sierra counties.

    Westbound I-80

    • Between the Nevada state line and Floriston: Lane closures will be in effect from 9 p.m. on Sunday through noon on Friday.
    • Between Castle Peak and Soda Springs: Lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. on Monday to noon on Tuesday and again from 7 p.m. on Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.
    • Between Troy and Cisco Grove: Lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. on Sunday through 7 p.m. on Friday.

    Eastbound I-80

    • Between Emigrant Gap and Yuba Pass: Lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday.
    • Between Yuba Pass and Cisco Grove: Lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Wednesday and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
    • Between Cisco Grove and Troy: Lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday through noon on Friday.
    • Between Kingvale and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday through noon on Friday.
    • Secondary project underway between the junction with State Route 267 and Boca: Lane closures will be in effect from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
