Bicyclist suffers multiple injuries in hit-and-run crash in Lancaster County

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist with multiple injuries in Lancaster County early Wednesday morning.
Police said on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at just before 7 a.m., officers were notified of a crash involving a bicyclist at 5027 Lincoln Highway in Salisbury Township.
According to police, an investigation by the Lancaster Patrol Unit revealed that a bicyclist was traveling west using the westbound shoulder on Lincoln Highway. A white SUV, also traveling west, struck the bicyclist from behind and fled the scene.
Police said the bicyclist was transported to an area hospital with a suspected broken arm and other minor injuries.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact PSP Lancaster at 717-299-7650.

Pennsylvania Turnpike shooting leaves man injured; police ask for public’s help

BRECKNOCK TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — State police are investigating after a man was shot in the head on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lancaster County.
It happened around 1:15 p.m. Friday on the eastbound lanes of the highway at mile marker 291.3 in Brecknock Township.
The victim, a 40-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.
The eastbound lanes reopened around 8:30 p.m.
No arrests have been made.
Police are still investigating what led up to the gunfire and are asking any who may have information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police Lancaster Station at 717-290-1961.

School board in Lancaster County discusses future of transgender athletes

The Manheim Township School Board in Lancaster County became the latest to take issue on the topic of transgender athletes. The school board meeting began at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening and was open to the public. Public comment started around 30 minutes into the meeting, and is still going as of 10 p.m. The auditorium hosted dozens of community members. Many of them in favor of research. “I applaud this motion to study the issue of biological males playing on women’s sports teams, and the ramifications of making this the norm,” said one participant of the meeting.While others in attendance felt the issue should not be taken any further. “We as a society are treating an entire group of young people like a laboratory experiment. It is scientifically irresponsible and is morally reprehensible,” said another participant. No matter which side, parents are wanting to protect their children. “We are not banning transgender athletes from playing the sports they love. Our goal is to protect the rights of girls to compete fairly in sports,” a parent said. Discussions were ongoing as of 11 p.m.
