  • ‘Weak’ Charles Reportedly Refusing to Meet Harry ‘Without an Apology’ After Their 1st Meeting Was Deemed a ‘Mistake’

    [ad_1]

Prince Harry & King Charles have no plans to meet up with each other later this month. The Duke of Sussex is returning to his homeland for a legal battle against Associated Newspapers, and a long-awaited meeting with his father won’t be happening this time around.

A source told Rob Shuter’s Shuterscoop that there was never a plan for it to happen in the first place, saying that there were no “firm trial dates locked in.” “Charles is in complete control,” a source said. “If he wanted a father-son reunion, it would happen. There’s just no desire on either side right now.” Another added, “Harry’s schedule is tight, but that’s not the real issue — it’s mutual choice. A sit-down isn’t in the cards.”

Other sources explained to Radar Online that Charles does not want to be associated with Harry’s lawsuit, saying that it could be “politically disastrous.” Harry joins a league of celebrities like Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, Sir Elton John against the Daily Mail’s publishers for alleged breaches of privacy, unlawful practices, and false stories.

Related: Harry & Charles’ Relationship Might Take Another Drastic Turn After a ‘Positive’ Update to His Security Detailing

The gossip site reports that Charles is afraid of appearing “weak” and “foolish” if a second meeting takes place, since Harry went out of his way to do interviews for The Guardian after their meeting in September. “What has changed is not Harry, but the internal balance of power around the king,” royal expert Tom Sykes explained. “This new attempt to recalibrate his position vis-à-vis Harry looks to me like a recognition it was a mistake.”

“That is why the currently evolving new stance – no meeting without an apology, no proximity while Harry is embarrassing the family in court – is gaining traction inside the palace,” Sykes claimed. “It could allow Charles to reclaim a measure of authority, and, crucially, to align himself more closely with [Prince] William’s uncompromising position.”

Harry and Charles’ decision comes after sources told People that there are “positive” noises coming from the government regarding a reversal of the decision not to grant Harry security. Ravec, a Home Office committee, carried out an assessment that Prince Harry does indeed meet the threshold for protection. “It’s now a formality,” a source told the Daily Mail. “Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is now nailed on for Harry.”

Another source told the site: “The only thing that could scupper his approval now would be an intervention from the Palace.”

The decision marks a step forward in Prince Harry bringing his family, wife Meghan Markle, and two children Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, back to the UK. A source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘If you knew about the kind of threats Harry and his children have been getting then you would understand why he doesn’t want to bring the kids over until police protection is granted.’

According to The Mirror, Prince Harry is “desperate” to have his kids reunite with King Charles and is hoping to invite him to the USA after President Trump extended invitations to the royal family for the 250th anniversary of the country.

  • King Charles is all smiles for first outing since royal family Christmas

    [ad_1]

King Charles was all smiles on Sunday, 4 January 2026, as he stepped out to attend a church service with Queen Camilla at Sandringham. The monarch, 77, donned a smart brown coat to brave the winter chill in Norfolk, where temperatures have dropped to -1 degree Celsius this weekend. Despite the cold, the King appeared in high spirits, pausing for an extra minute to share a laugh with Revd Canon Dr Paul Williams, a familiar face to the monarch during his winter stays at Sandringham.

Queen Camilla, 78, looked effortlessly chic for the occasion, accompanying her husband in a cream coat dress, suede knee-high boots, and a fur-trim hat. The outing marks their first of 2026 and is the first time they have been spotted in public since attending the same St Mary Magdalene church for the annual Christmas Day service and walkabout

Charles led the walkabout, alongside Camilla, who was joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The royal children were a hit with members of the public who interacted with the trio before getting selfies and offering them Christmas gifts.

Sources who witnessed the walkabout told HELLO! that Charlotte happily smiled and posed for selfies with the crowds who had gathered to celebrate Christmas Day with the royals. “She is such a little star,” they said.

Upon arrival, King Charles led the way, greeting Revd Canon Dr Paul Williams with a warm handshake. It was a beautiful day in Norfolk, with the winter sun beaming down.

    Beaming smile from Queen Camilla

Queen Camilla showed that she’s taking positive energy into the coming year as she stepped out and smiled brightly at onlookers. Her off-white coat dress was perfect for the occasion as it seemed to be made from wool, a fabric which contains crimped fibres that trap air and keep body heat in. The shining star of her look was a quilted Chanel flag bag.

It seemed word travelled fast that the King would be attending church on Sunday. Locals gathered to get a quick glimpse of the monarch before he headed inside, with one lady taking out her phone to capture the moment on camera.

  • King Charles decides to turn away visitors at Scottish royal home: ‘Stay safe’

    [ad_1]

His Majesty King Charles III started 2026 with a rather difficult decision – to close his beloved Scottish home, Balmoral, albeit temporarily. On Friday 2 January, the monarch shut the gates of the estate due to adverse weather conditions.

An update from the team on Instagram read: “Balmoral is closed to the public today (Friday 2nd January) due to winter weather conditions and an active weather warning. Please follow our Facebook and Instagram pages or visit balmoralcastle.com for the latest opening information. Take care and stay safe.”

How long will Balmoral Castle be closed for?

At present the castle is showing as being open tomorrow but while members of the public await further news from the team, they may also be watching weather reports. According to the Met Office, Aberdeenshire, where Balmoral Castle is located, currently has an amber weather warning in place and it remains in place until Saturday midday. Therefore, it could mean that the royal residence won’t reopen until after this.

The notice on the website says: “Heavy snow showers will become more frequent and may merge to give longer spells of snow at times. The area and period covered by this warning are when the heaviest and most disruptive snow is thought most likely during the current cold spell, with existing yellow warnings covering a wider area and a longer period.”

Balmoral Castle is often exposed to extreme elements

This decision to close the place entirely is never taken lightly; however, it has happened more frequently throughout 2025. As Homes Editor, I’ve covered royal residence closures on multiple occasions and although members of the public may be disappointed, it is good to see public safety being prioritised.

The monarch is thought to be spending time at Sandringham in Norfolk still, where he spent the festive period, celebrating with his family and attending church on Christmas Day. Therefore, he will be thankfully out of the extreme weather area. The King doesn’t have any upcoming engagements listed on the official court circular, but knowing his unwavering work ethic, we’re sure he’ll be renewed, refreshed and ready to get back to it soon.

Charles has sent his prayers to those affected in Switzerland

Despite being on his festive break, he did interrupt it for an important message, sharing a statement about the tragedy in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, where 40 people were killed in a fire.

My wife and I were appalled, and greatly saddened, to learn of the devastating fire last night in Crans-Montana, in Switzerland,” the King said.

“It is utterly heartbreaking that a night of celebration for young people and families instead turned to such nightmarish tragedy.

“While offering our admiration for the heroic first responders and the selfless emergency services, we wanted, above all, to convey our deepest possible sympathy to all those who have been so dreadfully affected by this horrific disaster.

“Our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of all those who have so tragically lost their lives and with those who remain in a critical condition in hospital.”

  • Here are the key differences between an MBE, OBE, CBE and a knighthood

    [ad_1]

HONOURS including the OBE, MBE, CBE and knighthood are given to recognise the amazing achievements and service of individuals in the UK.

Here’s everything you need to know about the honours and how to distinguish between them.

What’s the difference between GBE, DBE, KBE, CBE, OBE and MBE?

The honours system rewards people with Honours, Decorations and Medals as a public recognition of their merit, service or bravery.

Throughout history, monarchs have rewarded those who have shown significant service, loyalty or gallantry with titles or gifts.

The best-known awards represent different ranks in the Order of the British Empire.

Today, this Order rewards people from all walks of life with well-known honours, but it was started in 1917 by King George V, to reward outstanding contributions to the war effort.

They include (in order of precedence):

Dame or Knight of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (GBE, DBE, KBE)

This honour is awarded to those who have made major contributions to any activity, in the  Arts, Sciences, Charitable work or Public Service, usually at a national level.

Knighthoods and damehoods are traditionally presented with a touch of a sword by the King.

The highest rank of the Order of the British Empire is Knight Grand Cross or Dame Grand Cross (GBE).

The second highest grade is Knight Commander or Dame Commander (KBE or DBE).

Both of these ranks entitle their members to use the title of Sir for men and Dame for women before their forename.

Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE)

A CBE is awarded for those with a prominent but lesser role at a national level, or a leading role at a regional level.

You can also be awarded one for a distinguished, innovative contribution to any area.

Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

An OBE is awarded for having a distinguished regional or county-wide role in any field through achievement or service to the community.

This includes people whose work has made them known nationally in their chosen area.

Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)

An MBE is given to people for an outstanding achievement or service to the community.

This should have a long-term, significant impact and stand out as an example to others.

    When are British honour announced?

Those receiving the accolades are announced just before the New Year and around the King’s state birthday.

In June 2023, King Charles’ first birthday honours were revealed.

British honour recipients are officially announced in the royal newspaper The Gazette.

Honours are largely awarded following the advice of the Cabinet Office, and anybody may make a recommendation if they know someone they believe to be worthy, but the individual must be actively involved in what they are being nominated for.

    Can women be knighted?

Women are awarded a Damehood, rather than a knighthood.

A Knighthood or a Damehood is one of the highest honours a person in the UK can be awarded.

The title Dame, as an equivalent to Knight, was introduced in 1917.

Women who are appointed to the Most Noble Order of the Garter or the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle are given the title of Lady rather than Dame.

What is the Order of the British Empire?

The British honours system has several orders, mostly relating to the monarchy, military and colonial officials.

But King George V wanted to fill the gap by creating an order which would honour the thousands of people who had served in non-combat roles during the First World War.

However, the order has come under criticism for to its connection to the now-extinct British Empire.

The Government has considered changing the name to the Order of British Excellence, but in 2020 said that “empire” would not be replaced.

What does the Order of the British Empire entitle you to?

Being awarded a Royal Honour brings many benefits.

Anyone selected for an honour will be invited to attend an investiture ceremony at a royal residence where the King, or stand-ins Prince William, Princess Anne or Prince Edward, will give you the medal.

This ceremony typically takes place a few months after the birthday or New Year honours list is announced, but award recipients can start using their new title or letters after their name as soon as the awards are announced.

Has anyone ever refused an honour?

On a few occasions, recipients have rejected the honours for political or personal reasons.

Among this number is David Bowie, who turned down a CBE that was awarded to him in Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday honours list in 2000.

Other stars who have declined OBEs include television cook and writer Nigella Lawson, comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, and Fawlty Towers star John Cleese.

John Lennon is one of the few recipients to return his honour after having accepted it initially, sending back his MBE in 1969 in protest against Britain’s involvement in the Nigerian civil war.

Stephen Hawking also turned down his honour in the 1990s in protest of the Government’s cuts to science funding.

WHAT CAN PEOPLE GET HONOURS FOR?

    • Making a difference to their community or field of work
    • Enhancing Britain’s reputation
    • Long-term voluntary service
    • Innovation and entrepreneurship
    • Changing things, with an emphasis on achievement
    • Improving life for people less able to help themselves
    • Displaying moral courage

  • Meghan Accused of ‘Hijacking’ Charles’ Cancer News With ‘Self-Serving’ Move as Sources Claim Harry Is ‘Unlikely’ to Ever Heal His Relationship With His Dad

    [ad_1]

Was it improper timing? Royal sources are blasting Meghan Markle for announcing her new documentary at the same time as King Charles‘ health update.

Meghan Markle’s production company, Archewell Productions announced the upcoming documentary Cookie Queens which will premiere at Sundance Film Festival. The film is directed by Alysa Nahmias and is described as “a coming-of-age story about the joys, pressures, and pain points woven into one of America’s most cherished rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season,” per Deadline.

In a statement to the outlet, the Duchess of Sussex said, “As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary.”

The announcement comes hours before King Charles shared “good news” about his cancer treatment. Royal sources told RadarOnline that Meghan’s news was “super-cynical” and had “tone deaf” timing.
One source told the site, “The timing comes across as utterly self-serving. The project itself is fine, but it inevitably steals attention from a significant and hopeful moment for the king.”

Related: Kate Reveals Emotional Cancer Update After Charles Shared His Own ‘Overwhelming’ Health News

Another insider added: “It feels like a deliberate effort to shift public attention at a time when the royal family is already under intense scrutiny for other matters. It is both super-cynical and tone deaf and feels as if it was timed to take away from Charles’ announcement. She effectively tried to hijack it, as everyone knew it was coming hours before, as it was announced by global media.”

In a pre-recorded message for Stand Up to Cancer, the King said, “Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to ‘doctors’ orders,’ my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year,” the King said in the message. “This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years; testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the fifty percent of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives.”

The message also comes after reports that Meghan and Harry are ‘unlikely’ to heal their damaged relationships with their fathers. The Times reported that a source said that Harry and is moving in the right direction and claimed the pair do speak, but another said this is laughable. Meghan Markle’s father was hospitalized after experiencing a blood clot and had his leg amputated on Dec. 5. She sent her estranged father a letter after the surgery.

  • King Charles displays touching photo of daughter-in-law Meghan Markle at Clarence House

    [ad_1]

The relationship between King Charles and his youngest son, Prince Harry, has been strained in recent years, but the monarch has a touching image of his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, on display at his London home.

The Queen invited children, supported by the organisations Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, to decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House on Thursday, and the framed photograph could be seen on a table in the background.

The black and white shot shows the then Prince Charles arm-in-arm with blushing bride Meghan on her wedding day to Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on 19 May 2018.

When Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, was unable to attend his daughter’s nuptials after suffering a heart attack, Charles stepped in to accompany his daughter-in-law halfway down the aisle.

The snap of Charles and Meghan is placed next to an official portrait taken at Prince Louis‘s christening the same year, with the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posing with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and a baby Prince Louis, as well as Charles and Camilla, and Harry and Meghan.

Paying tribute to his father in the 2017 BBC documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Harry spoke about the moment he asked Charles to walk his future wife down the aisle: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you’. For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s going to be there for us.”

The Sussexes also spoke about Charles’s role at their wedding in their Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, released in 2022, which documented their departure from the royal family in 2020.

“My father helped us choose an orchestra, which made all the difference,” Harry explained alongside clips of the orchestra serenading Meghan as she walked down the aisle.

Meghan added: “Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him ‘I’ve lost my dad in this,’ so him as my father-in-law is very important to me.”

The King and Prince Harry were reunited for the first time in 19 months during a 55-minute meeting at Clarence House when the Duke returned to the UK in September.

  • Charles Hit With Devastating News About ‘No Cure’ Illness as Royal ‘Nightmare’ Takes a ‘Toll’ on His Health

    [ad_1]

Royal visitors might not want to visit King Charles’ Sandringham estate any time soon. Staff members warned of a rare condition, Seasonal Canine Illness (SCI), which can affect dogs and their dogwalkers.

The team running the 20,000 grounds posted on Facebook in October: “Please be aware that Autumn is the season when cases of Canine Seasonal Illness have been seen at Sandringham in the past. SCI is a rare illness which has dramatically declined in numbers since 2010, no-one understands the cause of SCI and there is no cure. The key symptoms of SCI are vomiting, diarrhoea and tiredness within 72 hours of being in a woodland area. However, this rare condition is not the only reason why these symptoms may be seen; there are lots of other common causes for these symptoms. If you suspect your dog has SCI, please contact your vet as soon as possible.”

With a month passing, some dogwalkers inquired about the condition, asking, “Are you now clear of canine seasonal illness?” to which the administrators directed them to the appropriate place.

The update comes right after news that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will move to Sandringham after being evicted from the Royal Lodge. King Charles‘ brother’s scandals have been particularly stressful for the monarch. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “During Remembrance Sunday…King Charles was particularly emotional, shedding a tear while standing in silence. He was withered and withdrawn, with one able to observe the toll the Andrew nightmare had taken on him.” The King is still receiving weekly treatment for his undisclosed cancer.

She observed that the King “appeared to be somewhat resolute,” in contrast, he wants his public persona to be “known to be wanting to double down on duty, rather than anything verging on a shallow or frivolous celebration.”

According to Fordwich, “Charles is purportedly ‘fed up’ with Andrew and, to the greatest extent possible, will be barring Andrew from any royal events.”

  • Charles ‘Withered & Withdrawn’ as Royal ‘Nightmare’ Takes a ‘Toll’ on His Health—’It’s Going to Kill Him’

    [ad_1]

King Charles might not be doing so well after all the Andrew drama. According to some royal experts, the monarch’s health is totally affected by his brother’s scandals.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “During Remembrance Sunday…King Charles was particularly emotional, shedding a tear while standing in silence. He was withered and withdrawn, with one able to observe the toll the Andrew nightmare had taken on him.”

She observed that the King “appeared to be somewhat resolute,” in contrast, he wants his public persona to be “known to be wanting to double down on duty, rather than anything verging on a shallow or frivolous celebration.”

Fordwich argued that we’ll never see the siblings in public ever again. “While Andrew, of course, will always remain his brother, now that he’s a private citizen, The King is likely to further publicly distance himself,” she observed. “We won’t be seeing Andrew at any birthday festivities. He’s actually made it worse for himself due to his pride and pervasively privileged attitude, thinking he’s still entitled.”

Related: ‘Frail’ Charles Reportedly ‘Physically Sick’ Over ‘Constant’ Andrew ‘Stress’—’It’s Going to Kill Him!’

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly “refusing to negotiate residence terms,” after it was known that he would be kicked out of his long-term residence of the Royal Lodge with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. The situation has “merely served to widen the gulf between himself and the family.”

According to Fordwich, “Charles is purportedly ‘fed up’ with Andrew and, to the greatest extent possible, will be barring Andrew from any royal events.”

It lines up with what other royal sources say of the King’s mindset, and understandably, the stress is getting to him. “The King is utterly worn down by it,” a source told RadarOnline. “Just when he thinks the matter has settled, another revelation surfaces. It’s placing enormous strain on him. He’s doing his best to focus on his recovery and royal work, but the constant stress is really affecting his health.”

Recently, royal insider Camilla Tominey reported that King Charles’ cancer is incurable. “The talk now is that he may die ‘with’ cancer, but not ‘of’ cancer following a rigorous treatment program,” she said in The Telegraph.

  • Charles Reportedly ‘Given Morphine’ & ‘Fitted With a Catheter’ as Sources Expose New Cancer Details

    [ad_1]

It’s no secret that King Charles and his family went through an emotionally turbulent time around the time he was diagnosed with cancer. However, new details emerged of what happened before his diagnosis was announced to the world and his family’s immediate reactions.

According to Robert Jobson’s upcoming book The Windsor Legacy, these details give insight to the King’s frail health. King Charles had been “typically stoical about his mounting levels of pain” before being diagnosed with cancer. The condition reportedly “had worsened so dramatically” that a doctor was summoned.

The pain was so bad to the point that they had to incorporate more medicine. “The king was given morphine (one of the strongest painkillers available), fitted with a catheter and taken to Aberdeen Hospital,” Jobson claimed. “The cancer, however, was not discovered until a few months later, in January last year, while doctors were in the process of treating the king for an enlarged prostate.”

King Charles and Kate Middleton’s simultaneous diagnoses reportedly caused lots of stress for Prince William as he was “shaken to his core.”

Rob Shuter’s Substack ShuterScoop recently reported that the King was “dying” and that his health issues have even forced Prince William to take on more royal duties. According to sources, Charles is “seriously unwell but determined to carry on,” and, “He’s exhausted, but he won’t stop. Every morning he insists on reading his red boxes. He believes his service to the country is his calling — and he’ll keep going as long as he can.”

It lines up with what the heir said on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler. “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had. You know, life is sent to test us, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” said William.

As for lifestyle changes, King Charles made a decision to prioritize his health. “Charles now takes regular afternoon naps,” Jobson wrote. “And he’s started having lunch again — often spinach soup — after skipping the meal for most of his life.”
