  • Kidoodle.TV Wraps Year of Wishes With Make-a-Wish Metro New York

    The campaign adds to Kidoodle.TV’s growing legacy of family-focused impact, from supporting wishes to feeding families, and more.

(APMC) and trusted by millions of families around the world, has completed its “A Wish A Week” commitment in partnership with Make-A-Wish® Metro New York. The initiative, which granted one wish per week for 52 weeks, culminated in a heartwarming on-platform celebration showcasing the creativity and courage of the incredible kids behind the wishes.

    To mark the close of the campaign, Kidoodle.TV invited Wish Kids to take the spotlight by curating personalized playlists of their favorite shows on Kidoodle.TV, complete with custom video introductions to share a bit of who they are with fellow viewers. These unique, kid-powered playlists ran for eight weeks, serving as a joyful tribute to bravery, imagination, and individuality.

    Throughout the year, Kidoodle.TV brought attention to a variety of magical wish moments on its social media platforms, from fashion shows and superhero adventures to unforgettable family trips and celebrity meetups, shining a light on the power of a wish and the hope it brings to children and families facing critical illness.

Inc.) is proud to announce that after clearing the list of second-grade teacher Mrs. Danielle Tresslar — fulfilling her entire Amazon Wish List for the upcoming school year — the company also cleared the lists for her entire school, providing Amazon gift cards to all other 18 classrooms at Rugel Elementary School located in Mesquite, Texas.

    The school’s principal, Dr. Amanda Walker, expressed sincere gratitude, acknowledging the impact it would have on students. “Each year, teachers find themselves spending their own money to buy supplies and books for their students. This generous gift will relieve the burden for them. Kidoodle.TV has gone above and beyond to clear the list for our Rugel classroom teachers.”

    A Parent Media Co. Inc. (“APMC“) was motivated to clear the lists of the entire school and, with the assistance of  Dr. Walker, surprised teachers and students at an event at Rugel Elementary on Aug. 11, 2022. Rugel Elementary is a K-5 Title 1 school with 350 students. “They saw the need and they are stepping up to help. The impact they have made will go beyond the tangible, [it] will positively change lives,” said Dr. Walker.

    This year, APMC placed a high priority on participating in the nationwide #ClearTheList campaign. “We’ve been fortunate to have families across the world choose to include Kidoodle.TV as part of their daily lives, and because of that, we are proud to be able to give back to communities in need,” said Neil Gruninger, President and Chief Product Officer of APMC. 

    The #ClearTheList movement aims to bring awareness to the lack of classroom supplies in schools throughout the United States while also recognizing and lending a helping hand to America’s deserving teachers through the fulfillment of their Amazon Wish Lists. 

    “We understand that having the proper tools to succeed in the classroom is an integral part of making children feel safe and fostering personal growth. An initiative like #ClearTheList allows us to extend our passion for keeping kids safe beyond the digital landscape,” added Gruninger.

    Mrs. Tresslar’s note, which caught the attention of Kidoodle.TV, read:

    “I work in a title 1 district where 90% of our students are under the poverty line. Every student receives free breakfast and lunch! Majority (sic) of the time students can not afford classroom supplies so I end up buying things for them to use in class! We are always in need of pencils, expo markers and books to add to our little classroom library!”

    Classroom teachers spend an excessive amount of money out of pocket each year for classroom supplies. In recent years, teachers have taken to Amazon, sharing their classroom wish lists publicly online, allowing parents and donors to contribute and ease the financial burden. As a purpose-driven organization, the Kidoodle.TV team was inspired to participate in support of teachers and students and applauds the #ClearTheList campaign for its commendable efforts.

    Kidoodle.TV, a family-friendly streaming platform for kids 12 and under, recently released a comprehensive research study to better understand how parents view and approach screen time in a pandemic world and what they anticipate for the future as the world reopens. As media consumption amongst children has increased, the plethora of platforms available have allowed kids to access content that may be unsafe or unsuitable.

    According to a study by Wakefield Research:

    • 2 in 5 parents (44%) say they’ve seen previews or ads meant for older children or teens while streaming videos for their kids.
       
    • 42% say they’ve seen ads for a product meant solely for adults like a political ad.
       
    • 38% say they’ve seen content auto-played that they did not approve of.

    “The significance of doing this kind of real-life research to hear from parents directly on what they are facing when raising their children in today’s digital world, and the increased use of screen time on a daily basis, is critical to helping families make good decisions on what platforms are allowed. As a parent, I am faced with multiple demands everyday and knowing the dangers that lurk online is half the problem. The solution is making a smart decision for the sake of our children and being able to remove one less worry. The trends identified here today will serve to inform and guide and hopefully eliminate risks associated with inappropriate content being accessible to children,” commented Brenda Bisner, Chief Content Officer at Kidoodle.TV. 

    In addition to increased recreational viewing, parents and teachers rely on online streaming services as an educational tool. While streaming services can be powerful and effective when it comes to education, it’s a double-edged sword due to the risk of exposing children to content not meant for them.

    According to the 2021 It Takes a (Digital) Village Report, only 43% of parents utilize parental controls all the time, leaving a large opportunity for nefarious or inappropriate content to slip through the cracks. While a good start, the parental control system has many flaws. Even the most popular streaming services have inadvertently had lapses in their algorithms, where the platform recommends shows or ads meant for an older cohort of children.

    Incidents can also occur as a result of hackers or online trolls. In 2019, trolls targeted kids shows on a popular streaming platform that displayed content regarding self-harm and other bizarre themes. Clearly a violation of the platform, the videos were promptly taken down, but not before thousands of children had viewed them. Knowing what children are watching, being an active part of their streaming time, and streaming on platforms that use human moderation to review content instead of solely relying on algorithms, are some of the most effective ways of protecting children from unintentionally viewing inappropriate content.

    In regards to what parents think a post-pandemic future holds, the study revealed that while some parents want to lessen their child(ren)’s screen time (35%), others realize that increased screen time is simply a new reality (65%) and are allowing for more or the same amount of viewing time.

    Little Pim’s language offering includes Spanish, French, German, Mandarin and Russian, geared for children under four and tailored to meet a parent’s desire to educate early.
