    CULVER CITY, Calif. — Jimmy Kimmel is on his summer vacation from late-night television. But before he started his time off, he taped a summer of shows for primetime.

    Kimmel is back with a new celebrity-filled season of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

    “This show is so much easier than my show. I mean, really, like, the amount of preparation is basically one minute of reading through pronunciations and then sitting down,” laughed Kimmel.

    In the new season of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” celebrities are pairing up to win money for their charities – including the stars of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Scrubs” and “Full House.”

    “We got into neuroses. We get into all sorts of old wounds were opened. I didn’t even want to ask any questions because it was so funny watching them sit there and talk,” said Kimmel.

    “Kenan and Kel” hope to hit the jackpot on the show. But they are already winners when it comes to the fans.

    “When Ken and Kel walked out there, I’m not joking, the whole front row of the audience here started crying,” said Kimmel.

    But laughing has been a big part of the show. So has philanthropy.

    “It’s been very fulfilling so far. And people have made a lot of money. And you can tell when you talk to these people that, all joking aside, all game show aside, these charities mean a lot to them. When you ask somebody, ‘What is your favorite charity?’ you know, it hits home,” said Kimmel.

    I asked Jimmy what game night looks like at the Kimmel household.

    “I don’t like games. Maybe I shouldn’t be a game show host!” joked Kimmel. “I do love to play Scrabble. Unfortunately, no one will play with me ever because I just don’t ever lose. So, I love to play Scrabble. I like to play Boggle, sometimes by myself. But word games, I guess, are the games I go for.”

    I let him know those were my two favorite games.

    “Oh, I would love to play you.” said Kimmel. “Oh, just Pennacchio’s like a thousand points!”

    “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” airs Wednesday nights on ABC.

    We’ve come to the end of the road on season 49 of Saturday Night Live.

    Over the weekend, Taylor Swift‘s ex Jake Gyllenhaal took the Studio 8H stage to close out the 49th season of the sketch comedy show. And nooooo, he totallyyyyyy wasn’t salty that he was only one episode away from hosting the premiere of the 50th anniversary episode! Ha! He said in his opening monologue:

    “When you think of historic television seasons, the first number that pops into your head is 49. I mean, sure, one more episode and I would have been hosting the premiere of the 50th season, but who cares? [49] is a great number.”

    The Roadhouse star ex continued:

    “I know we’re all waiting for season 50, but, you know, you can’t get to 50 without a little bit of 49. And we’re here at the finale, the End of the Road.”

    Jake then started singing the lyrics to Boyz II Men’s End of the Road, but with an SNL twist:

    “I’ve loved you right from the start, oh season 49 / You know, I was actually SNL’s first choice to host the finale after a lot of people said no / I guess they’re all holding out for the 50th, but not me, not little J-G, I’m the one who said, ‘Yeah’ / They asked Pedro Pascal but he wasn’t around / Zendaya said no ‘cause she’d be out of town / Even asked [Ryan] Gosling to come back again, just hosted three shows ago”

    HA!

    Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Punkie Johnson, and Devon Walker then joined him on stage and sang in unison:

    “Although we’ve come to the end of the road / It’s the last episode / Time to say goodbye / Season 49 / You’ll be 50 soon”

    40 years and over 900 episodes! DAMN! Also, Jake has a set of lungs on him!! Watch the musical monologue (below):

    And Jake wasn’t the only Taylor-related guest on Saturday’s show… Her bestie and Eras Tour opener Sabrina Carpenter was also in the Big Apple to serenade the audience for the season’s finale! First up, she sang her chart-topping single Espresso, and absolutely CRUSHED it! Watch (below):

    Sabrina typically concludes Nonsense with an ad-lib relating to whatever city she’s in. This time, she sang:

    “This song catchier than chicken pox is / I bet your house is where my other sock is / Woke up this morning, thought I’d write a pop hit / How quickly can you take your clothes off, pop quiz / He is 30 Rock hard ‘cause I said hi / My sense of humor is but I am not dry / SNL I just came for the first time”

    She always kills it! However, we wouldn’t have been mad if she’d added a little riff in there about Jake and Taylor! That would have been the perfect opportunity! And we know Swifties would have gotten a kick out of it!

    Sabrina also stuck around for a gruesome Scooby-Doo skit, where she played Daphne alongside Jake’s Fred. Watch (below):

    Ayo Edebiri took on Saturday Night Live this weekend… and had some “mean comments” to own up to!

    The Bear star hosted the sketch comedy show for the first time on Saturday night, and Jennifer Lopez was right by her side as the show’s musical guest… which given some recently resurfaced comments, made for quite the awkward pairing! As we’ve been following, a clip from a 2020 podcast was thrust back into the light in the days leading up to Ayo’s hosting gig, where she DRAGGED the On The Floor singer’s whole career — calling it “one long scam.”

    Oof! We bet she didn’t anticipate that in four years she’d be coming face-to-face with J.Lo on the Studio 8H stage! But in one of the show’s sketches, she took the opportunity to do a bit of repenting.

    Appearing as a game show contestant, Ayo was grilled by the fictitious show’s host, played by Kenan Thompson, about comments she’d left on celebrity Instagram posts in the past. At first, she tried to make up excuses but by the end of the sketch, she owned up to the fake comments — and apologized in a very real way. She said:

    “Okay, okay, we get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid, but I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”

    Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are hungry to save their jobs in the first full trailer for Paramount+‘s comedy sequel Good Burger 2.

    The streaming service released the trailer Monday for director Phil Traill’s film that is set to launch Nov. 22. The movie centers on Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) reuniting as staff members at Good Burger as the pair attempt to help the struggling fast food establishment amid its parent company’s plans to grow the brand.

    This footage shows plenty of hijinks for the two leads as they get reconnected. “It really means a lot that you came to see me,” Mitchell tells Thompson.

    At a different point in the trailer, the guys learn that MegaCorp is planning to expand Good Burger globally but intends to fire the restaurant’s staff. “MegaCorp wants to replace everybody with robots,” Thompson warns. “We gotta do something!”

    Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery co-star. Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert wrote the script and serve as executive producers alongside John Ryan Jr.

    The film is the follow-up to Paramount Pictures’ 1997 feature Good Burger, which was based on the comedy sketch that first ran on the Nickelodeon series All That in 1994.

    After launching their careers as child actors on All That, Thompson and Mitchell went on to star in the Nickelodeon spinoff series Kenan & Kel that signed off in July 2000 following four seasons. Thompson joined Saturday Night Live in 2003, and he reunited with Mitchell in an SNL segment that aired in December and focused on a Kenan & Kel revival.

    The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that Good Burger 2′s Burgermobile will be featured in next month’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which takes place a day after the film debuts.

    Welcome back to Good Burger! After years of teasing a sequel, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are back for “Good Burger 2.” On Aug. 21, Paramount+ dropped the first teaser, and it seems like no time has passed, because Ed and Dex are up to their old antics.

    Joining Thompson and Mitchell for the sequel are “Good Burger” regulars Josh Server and Lori Beth Denberg, Paramount+ announced on June 29. Back in March, Jimmy Fallon and the crowd instantly went wild when Thompson and Mitchell revealed the “Goodburger 2” news on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “Ladies and gentlemen, Kel has something he would like to tell you,” Thompson teased before handing the announcement over to his costar. Mitchell continued, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger . . . part two!”

    Fallon’s reaction was fitting, given that the former “SNL” star has long been a supporter of the film. As he noted at the top of the interview, he reunited the “All That” stars for a “Good Burger” sketch back in 2015. “We’re going to shoot it this summer, and it will be out soon,” Thompson continued.

    When asked what will happen in “Good Burger 2,” the “SNL” actor teased that there will be “hijinks” and shared that they “want as many cameos as we can possibly get.”

    Thompson and Mitchell starred in their 1997 kids’ comedy as two goofy friends, Dexter and Ed, who spend their summer working at a local fast-food joint. In a statement, Thompson expressed his excitement over starring in the movie’s sequel 25 years later. “I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” he said. “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”

    Mitchell added, “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”

    “Good Burger” started as a hilarious “All That” sketch, led by Mitchell, but quickly turned into a nostalgic hit that fans still clamor over to this day. “Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?” is just one of many memorable quotes from the movie, so hearing it once more in the sequel will be a real treat for ’90s kids.

    Who Is in the “Good Burger 2” cast?

    The first confirmed cast members were OG stars Mitchell and Thompson. “All That” stars Josh Server and Lori Beth Denberg are reprising their roles as Fizz and Connie Muldoonand, respectively. Carmen Electra is also back as Roxanne. New cast members include Lil Rel Howery as Cecil McNevin, a lawyer for the corporation MegaCorp; Jillian Bell as Katt Boswell, the CEO of MegaCorp; Kamaia Fairburn, a teen employee of Good Burger; Alex R. Hibbert as Ed2, a mini-me version of his dad, Ed; Fabrizio Guido as Mr. Jensen, a 16-year-old Good Burger employee; Elizabeth and Emily Hinkler as Cindy and Mindy, 16-year-old identical twins and Good Burger Cooks; and Anabel Graetz as Ruth, the most senior employee at Good Burger.

    What Is the Plot of “Good Burger 2”?

    Paramount+ revealed details about what fans can expect to see in the second movie in a press release. According to the official synopsis, Dexter Reed will return to Good Burger to work with his old pal Ed after yet another one of his inventions fail. While Ed is excited to have Dex back, his friend’s plans to jump-start his own career could spell the end of Good Burger forever.

    Amanda Bynes did not attend ’90s Con with the cast of “All That” due to an unknown illness.

    According to That’s 4 Entertainment, the 36-year-old actress cancelled at the last minute despite voicing that she wanted to reconnect with her past Nickelodeon costars.

    Her appearance at the event marked her first public event since the end of her eight-year conservatorship in March 2022.

    The “She’s the Man” star has yet to divulge further details on her illness that prevented her from attending, but she told People two months ago that she was “really excited to reunite with” her “cast mates and meet the fans” since the show over two decades ago.

    The actress starred alongside Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli and Lori Beth Denberg on the sketch comedy series from 1996 to 2000.

    In 2019, a series revival was positioned to come to fruition by Thompson as executive producer, and Mitchell was confirmed to be rejoining the cast. The 11th season aired in June of that year but was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    There was an uncharacteristic bullet at the end of last night’s Saturday Night Live cold open. The show has struggled when it comes to this frontline of comedy since Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey hung up their politico blazers with their Donald Trump and Sarah Palin impressions. This season, SNL has rightly sidelined the idea that President Joe Biden gives good material beyond affable thought-wandering. Last night’s episode opened instead with Mikey Day as a nebbish gunslinging Merrick Garland, coming for all the classified papers. The best joke of the sketch was Bowen Yang’s FBI agent, fanboying over the chance to search former president Barack Obama’s house: “He had 175 letters from Lin-Manuel Miranda begging the President to attend a performance of Hamilton! Beyonce called him on his cellphone, and he ignored it.” They were going to land the plane at a solid B/B- when Kenan Thompson’s FBI agent leaned into Day’s Garland. “Hey boss, when we done playing with your little papers, we going to head down to Memphis and make sure justice is served there too, right?” Thompson’s tone of voice was sharp and baiting, steeped in the angry, tired knowledge of another Black man’s death at the hands of law and supposed order. Last night’s cold open delivered a message beyond parody, something the form has been missing for too long.

    Michael B. Jordan was last night’s beautiful host. The cut of his plum-colored suit, the dipping neckline of his shirt that seemed to cut mid-pec—the man is a vision. In some ways, his hosting debut reminded me of Kim Kardashian’s. Neither are silly. They are hard-working and disciplined, but their carefully constructed images will always take precedence over a laugh. There’s a tightness to Jordan, a terrifically compelling dramatic actor, and the writers served him well throughout the night, dressing him up silly, but trusting others to land the joke. Like Kardashian, he was going to do his workmanlike best. 

    “Tonight, Michael B. hosting,” he promised in his very good opening monologue, “Michael B. joking, Michael B. nervous, Michael B. vulnerable, but don’t worry, Michael B. aiight, because Michael B. in therapy.” He acknowledged the strain of his first public breakup, and endured the advances from the female cast members. “Aren’t you gay?” he asked Punkie Johnson, as she stroked his taut abs. “I am, but you Michael B. Jordan and I’m Punkie B. Curious.”

    Jordan’s best turn of the night was as the State Farm Insurance spokesman Jake. Clad in his crisp red polo, Jake came to the rescue of Mikey Day’s clogged toilet, assuring the married father of two that State Farm would be by the family’s side, 24/7. But then Day comes home to Jake at night. Jake has taken his wife (played by Heidi Gardner) and their kids out for pizza. Then church. Jake is teaching his daughter the piano and playing catch with his son, who’s suddenly wearing a tiny red polo. Jake’s hand is on the small of Heidi Gardner’s back. How to get rid of Jake!? Jordan is a master of glower—chin tucked, eyes set—and Jake lets one loose when he finds a frantic Mikey Day googling Geico rates in the middle of the night. “Even if you find cheaper rates,” Jordan whispers menacingly in his ear, “we’ll match it.” Like a cuckolded George Bailey, Day finds himself stumbling on a bridge, cursing the day State Farm ever came into his home. Before he can jump, a beacon appears: Liberty, liberty Mutual to the rescue. A perfectly conceived, perfectly executed sketch from start to finish. No notes.

    The show was wise to pair Jordan in sketches with its two finest weirdos. Sarah Sherman played a TV chef on Good Morning Today who had recently survived a runaway roller coaster ride. Her hair still stood straight up, her mouth plastered back, even the bow of her shirt was still frozen in flight. I could watch her choke on chianti, spit crostini crumbs, and scoop minestrone soup into her useless mouth for a full half hour. A game Jordan, as the similarly blown-back weatherman who survived the ride with her, ended up with a plate of spaghetti on his face, plops of red sauce touching the bottom of his lashes.

    Of all the send-offs in all the lands, none was as sweet as Saturday Night Live’s for Cecily Strong. Hours before the Christmas episode aired, news broke that the brunette angel of the show—our Mom to Kenan Thompson’s Pops—had gotten her wings. She gave us 11 years of Jeanine Pirro and Cathy Anne and Goober the Clown. Eleven years of breaking into song; each time a revelation that this generous and brave performer was also an old-school chanteuse. It’s hard to think of an SNL without her as its sturdy moral center. Some goodbyes are for the players. They need to walk off into the sunset waving goodbye. Last night, the adieu was also for those left behind. It seemed like the cast needed to let Strong how much they loved her and how greatly she’ll be missed. 

    In a clever Radio Shack sketch, which gave all the grieving a little emotional distance, Thompson’s store manager gathered his modest staff to toast a departing Strong. “I don’t think Radio Shack could’ve survived this long without Cecily,” he said, all glistening eyes and marble-throated voice. “She had a power and a joy to her performance which made you remember why you loved working at Radio Shack in the first place.” As a special surprise, the staff had pooled the store donations for sick and needy children and hired an Elvis impersonator to sing the employee of the month into the sunset.

    Then the evening’s host Austin Butler, Baz Luhrmann’s King, SNL’s prince, joined Strong as a decidedly casual Elvis impersonator (not to be confused with Jewish Elvis, who would pop up later in the episode to serenade Butler in costume as an old lady) to sing “Blue Christmas.” Kudos to this adorable man-child and his baritone voice, who somehow earned his spot standing next to Strong in this emotional moment. He has a specific kindness and unexpected gravitas about him that made him the essential ingredient of the number without hogging up any of the emotional energy. And when Strong came in for the second verse, her clear voice equal parts Patsy Cline and ‘50s Christmas movies, the tears really started flowing. 

    “You’ll be doing alright, every Saturday night,” the two promised each other in makeshift lyrics, with Strong choking up, “but I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas.” Thompson joined in for a verse, his voice reedy and tight with feeling. Even Colin Jost sang a few emotional lines, leaving his habit of mugging behind. May she transition well into a New Year with better hours and a book deal and a plum role in a musical.

    And let our own nerves for the show in the year ahead be steadied by the great kookiness still on display in clip after clip. The Marzipan sketch, with Bowen Yang mewling over his lump of almond crud, was perfect absurdity.

    Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have reunited with a little help from Keke Palmer!

    Palmer made her “Saturday Night Live” debut over the weekend — where she also revealed her exciting pregnancy news —  and for one of the night’s pre-recorded sketches, fans got a chance to see exactly what it would look like if she and Thompson rebooted the beloved sitcom “Kenan & Kel”.

    In this version, however, it would be Thompson and Palmer as the two leads in the all-new “Kenan & Kelly”.

    The sketch was presented as a behind-the-scenes documentary, which gives a glimpse at how Palmer convinced Thompson to do the show without giving him a lot of information — something he came to regret.

    “I should have asked more questions,” Thompson shared with the documentary cameras. “I thought it was going to be a Jordan Peele-produced streaming series. I wouldn’t have said yes to ‘Kenan & Kel But Now It’s Just Kelly’.”

    “I had already sold the show before I even met Kenan,” Palmer explained in a separate interview. “I told the producers we wrote it together.”

    While Thompson’s take on his old character is a bit more responsible and mature, Palmer’s take on Kelly was a fairly spot-on impression of the Kel character — except with a different catch phrase, and also she’s pregnant with Kenan’s baby and she delivers long, tearful, awards season-bait monologues.

    “Keke was gunning for an Emmy Award, so she wanted gritty, dramatic moments in it,” Thompson explained. “And I thought, ‘That won’t work.’ And I was right!”

    As we see more of the reboot progress, a very special guest star makes an unexpected appearance — Mitchell himself, flawlessly diving into his “Kenan & Kel” persona without hesitation.

    The joyful reunion is short-lived when the store Kenan and Kelly work at is robbed by a gunman, and Kel unsuccessfully tries to use “Kel-fu” to disarm him, getting fatally shot in the process. Which is when a sobbing Kelly drops a bombshell — she’s actually pregnant with Kel’s baby, after cheating on Thompson.

    “The show is not good,” Thompson concludes. “But, Jordan Peele called us.”

    The camera pulls back to reveal Mitchell sitting next to Thompson, and he reveals, “He wants us to do a sequel to ‘Nope’!” (The sequel is revealed in a poster, and is obviously titled “Yep”.)

    “Saturday Night Live” kicked off this week’s episode with Heidi Gardner leading a PBS NewsHour focused on three notable Republicans before the midterm elections in less than two weeks.

    First up was Herschel Walker, played by Kenan Thompson.

    “My name is Herschel Walker Texas Ranger,” Thompson as Walker said, kicking off the cold open of the NBC variety show. “And I’m running for president of the United Airlines.”

    Next up: Dr. Mehmet Oz, played by Mikey Day.

    “My Pennsylvania Phillies are in the World Series, and I just had a delicious Philadelphia cheese and steak. Yum!” Day’s Oz declared.

    Finally: Kari Lake, played by Cecily Strong.

    “Great to be with you,” she said. “On your sweet little show full of lies.”

    Gardner as the PBS NewsHour host noted all three have been doing well in the polls lately despite having no political experience.

    “And that’s where I don’t know,” Thompson’s Walker said when asked why his support was growing. “The whole world is a mystery, ain’t it? For example, a thermos it keeps the hot things hot but also the cold things cold. My question is… how does it decide?”

    This was followed up with the question of why so many Georgians, the state in which Walker is running for Senate, still support him despite his many controversies.

    “Gas,” he said.

    The next question went to Day’s Dr. Oz, who the PBS NewsHour host said has caught up to his Pennsylvania Senate race opponent, John Fetterman.

    “I was a long shot,” Day’s Dr. Oz said. “But I told myself you can win this election if you’re honest, you’re fair and if your opponent has a debilitating medical emergency.”

    Fetterman had a stroke earlier this year.

    Strong’s Lake responded to her rise in the polls by saying she was a “fighter” and had sent back “over two thousand salads” in her lifetime.

    “And I’m not afraid to do the same thing with democracy,” she said.

    Walker then asked to take the next question and began to talk about Pokémon.

    Gardner’s PBS host mentioned that Lake has proposed major changes to voting laws in Arizona.

    “If the people of Arizona elect me, I’ll make sure they never have to vote ever again,” Strong’s Lake said.

    The segment then wrapped up with Thompson’s Walker saying “yippee ki-yay and go Halloween” before the show’s signature catch phrase, “Live… from New York! It’s Saturday night!”

    Kenan Thompson Reveals ‘Good Burger 2’ With Kel Mitchell Script Is Written, ‘Closer Than Ever’

    Good news, “Good Burger” fans, the long-awaited sequel to the hit ’90s film could be coming sooner than you think. ET’s Kevin Frazier spoke to Kenan Thompson at Byron Allen’s TheGrio Awards in Beverly Hills Sunday, where he gave an update on where he and Kel Mitchell are with “Good Burger 2”.

    “We’re getting really close on ‘Good Burger 2’,” Thompson revealed. “It’s gonna happen, and I think it’s gonna happen soon. We’re gonna figure out when the pocket of time will be to shoot it, but it’s gonna happen.”

    “It’s closer than it’s ever been,” the “Saturday Night Live” star added, “So, I don’t think anything is gonna derail it.”

    So close in fact, that Thompson said a draft of the script has already been completed.

    “We had a reading, like a little private thing just to hear the script that we’ve been working on, out loud — just with a couple friends and a couple people from Paramount and Nickelodeon, and it was so funny,” Thompson teased.

    While it’s been 25 years since the first film hit theaters, Thompson said his Kenan & Kel co-star hasn’t missed a step.

    “Kel has not missed a step,” he continued. “It’s like old slippers, and that character is just ripe for jokes. We read like, over 100 pages and laughed the whole time. It was so much fun.”

    “It’s on and crackin,’” Thompson added. “That’s all I can say.”

    Thompson and Mitchell pulled off an epic “Good Burger” reunion at this year’s Emmy Awards, where Thompson was the host. Midway through the show, the 44-year-old funny man wandered over to the bar for one of the ceremony’s comedic interludes, where a man just so happened to be slumped over on the bar, apparently passed out.

    “You know what, can I get a Good Burger?” he asked, as an exuberant Thompson hugged him, and the pair jumped around excitedly.

    “Make that two Good Burgers!” Thompson yelled. “Oh my goodness! Let’s do some kung fu as they roll into the next package!”

    As the pair showed off their ridiculous martial arts moves, Thompson teased, “Sequel coming next year!”

    The reunion came just a month after Thompson talked about doing the sequel during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” in August, following a joint Instagram post he made with Mitchell celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary.

    “Happy 25th Goodburger!!! I love this movie and everyone who worked on it,” Thompson captioned the nostalgic post. “So proud to be a part of something so many generations of people have come to love as well!!! ‘Sup wit that Part 2?!”

    When asked if a “Good Burger 2” was happening, Thompson told host Jimmy Fallon that he and Mitchell were “working harder on it than ever.”
