‘Delighted’ Princess Kate issues new statement amid cancer treatment

Princess Kate has shared a new statement amid her cancer treatment, stating that she is “delighted” to share some news.

Kate, 42, left royal fans shocked when she announced she had been diagnosed with cancer back in March.

Amongst her many roles, Kate was appointed as joint President of the Scouts Association in September last year.

And she has now shared a statement to address the news that Dwayne Fields is the new UK Chief Scout.

    Princess Kate message

Kate penned a message posted to Prince and Princess of Wales’ official X – formerly known as Twitter – account.

She said: “Delighted to welcome @DwayneFields as the new UK Chief Scout.

“The Scouts is such an incredible organisation, teaching #SkillsForLife and making a huge difference to young people across the country.”

Kate signed off the message: “Looking forward to working with you! C.”

Despite being known publicly as Kate, she is known in official capacities as her full name Catherine.

Royal fans were delighted to hear from the wife of Prince William as she continues to receive treatment.

One commented: “Nice to hear from you Princess of Wales. Hope to see you soon!”

Looking forward to working with you! C.

A second wrote: “The Scouts are an amazing organisation. Good luck to the new Chief Scout. Also it’s lovely to hear from the Princess of Wales. Sending love.”

A third penned: “Love to see mummy C is doing well, can’t wait to have you back, we continue to pray for complete healing.”

Meanwhile, a fourth penned: “We love to hear from Catherine. Perfect healing to you, HRH Princess of Wales.”

    Scouts boss praises Kate

The CEO of the organisation, Matt Hyde, praised the Princess of Wales following her cancer diagnosis.

He told the Mirror in April: “She’s totally charming and very good at putting people at ease. As you imagine, whether you’re a scout leader or a young person, when you’re meeting the [Princess of Wales] some people are in awe or starstruck.

“She’s fantastic at asking the right questions and listening to people. She’s naturally good at engaging with people of all ages.

“She really does bring the best out of young people and she really wants to hear their stories.”

Kate first volunteered for the Scouts when she was living on the Isle of Anglesey and, in 2020, spoke about her love of the organisation.

On joining Prince Edward as joint President of the Scouts, she said: “For many children and young people, The Scout Association plays a key role as they build relationships and develop the skills they need to succeed in later life.

“When I volunteered with the Scouts on Anglesey eight years ago, I was struck by the huge impact the organisation has on inspiring young people to support their communities and achieve their goals.

“I am delighted to be joining the Duke of Kent as joint president of the association and look forward to working with Scouts across the country as they strive to make a positive difference to our society.”

  • Kate Middleton Makes Surprise Appearance in Scotland

Kate Middleton Makes Surprise Appearance in Scotland

Did Kate Middleton just weigh in on the debate on when summer actually ends? The royal, who went on “summer break” after her show-stopping appearance at Wimbledon in July, stepped back into view Sunday. Along with husband Prince William, eldest son Prince George, and father-in-law King Charles III, Princess Kate attended a church service in Scotland today, her first day out with the family since her Trooping the Colour turn in June.

King Charles and Queen Camilla traditionally spend their summers in the Scottish Highlands, the Telegraph notes, as Balmoral Castle was one of Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite homes. This year, the Waleses made plans to join them, marking Kate Middleton’s longest trip away from the family’s Adelaide Cottage home since a planned surgery in January led to the diagnosis of an undisclosed cancer. She’s been in treatment for the disease since.

The Princess was spotted this morning as she headed to Crathie Kirk, the Balmoral-adjacent parish church known as the royal family’s place of worship when they’re in town. Clad in a camel coat and feathered hat, she was seated in a Land Rover passenger seat, with William at the wheel. Their son, George, sat in back. According to photos taken at the scene, Camilla and a kilt-clad Charles—who was also treated for cancer this year—arrived at church in a second vehicle, both stepping out of the back seat.

They were joined by the king’s brother, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, also attended church with the family today.

The church outing wasn’t a choreographed public event along the lines of Wimbledon or Trooping the Colour, free of posed photos or a receiving line. But that’s what might make Middleton’s presence the most notable. “I am making good progress,” she announced in June, “but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.”

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.” That she is doing well enough to expend some of her energy on a quiet, family event like a Sunday trip to church suggests that her progress is continuing, and the things are indeed looking up.

  • Prince William and Princess Kate’s sentimental Kenyan log cabin is a far cry from Adelaide Cottage

Prince William and Princess Kate’s sentimental Kenyan log cabin is a far cry from Adelaide Cottage

The Prince and Princess of Wales are raising their children in the most idyllic setting – Adelaide Cottage on the leafy Windsor Home Park Estate.

However, Kate’s first taste of royal life came in 2010 following Prince William’s proposal. Kate née Middleton, now 42, was offered Princess Diana’s iconic blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring when Prince William got down on one knee and the couple retreated to a stunning mountainside lodge that couldn’t be further from their royal cottage home.

Vogue reported that the Prince spent time with his new fiancé, whom he met while studying at St Andrew’s University, at the Rutundu Log Cabin on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The property is set off the beaten track – a perfect spot for those yearning for serenity and privacy.

The Kenyan landscape holds happy memories for the Waleses

The cabin, which costs £130 per night, is described as “perfect for fishermen, walkers, families, adventurers, and those simply wanting to experience the tranquility of the mountain.”

The prince was not afraid of choosing a lodge without his usual royal comforts. The property is entirely self-catered and has no phone signal – you would have to walk for 25 minutes to have any chance of calling Buckingham Palace.

Having said that, the cabin, which is described as having an Alaskan-style interior, is perfectly cosy with an open log fire and verandah for soaking in the stunning natural views.

    A second Kenyan retreat

Though William is said to have flown Kate up the slopes of Mount Kenya to propose by the mountain’s glacial lakes, the Waleses enjoyed an equally romantic time at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

The 55,000-acre estate is a privately owned reserve home to 21 tents perfectly positioned for animal-watching.

Here guests can enjoy three-course meals and guided bush walks. Wake-up calls are far from being jolted from your slumber by a phone alarm. Guests at the Lewa reserve are treated to morning birdsong before breakfast and elephant spotting.

    The couple’s Adelaide Cottage lifestyle

Leafy Windsor couldn’t be further from their beautiful engagement spot. The family of five’s royal residence is a Grade II listed candy pink cottage which formerly featured a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace and a ceiling covered with gilded dolphins.

The bolthole is nestled in the heart of the 655-acre Windsor estate and thus perfectly caters to Kate’s love of the outdoors – something she could have indulged in to the highest degree on her romantic Kenyan getaway all those years ago.

  • Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Love Story Became Public 20 Years Ago

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Love Story Became Public 20 Years Ago

On June 15, 2024, the world was watching as Catherine, Princess of Wales, triumphantly returned to the spotlight during the Trooping the Colour ceremony. After months of speculation regarding her health, and the announcement of her cancer diagnosis, a regal Catherine took to the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her husband, Prince William and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. As the crowd cheered, Catherine gave a grinning William a radiant smile, and a photo of the tender moment was published around the world.

The mature, glamorous couple that stood on the balcony was miles away from the casual, carefree college students who were first snapped on the Swiss ski slopes of Klosters 20 years ago, but the ease, love, and mutual respect in evidence has remained the same.

Prince William first met Kate Middleton in 2001, when they were both first-year students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. “I actually went bright red when I met you and scuttled off feeling very shy,” Catherine said to William in their first joint interview.

The two art history majors (Prince William would later switch to geography), both sporty and rather shy, soon formed a tight friendship. “We did become very close friends from quite early on,” Catherine recalled. They also had a lot of fun. “Kate’s got a really naughty sense of humor, which kind of helps me because I’ve got a really dry sense of humor, so it was good fun,” William said.

In March 2002, the press—and reportedly, Prince William—took notice of Catherine as she strutted down the catwalk as part of a charity fashion show. “The British press has been keeping an eye on classmate Kate Middleton, 21, ever since she modeled in a see-through dress for a charity fashion show at St. Andrews,” the Daily News noted in 2004.

For their second year, the platonic friends, who had both dated other people, decided to share a flat with their fellow classmates Fergus Boyd and Olivia Bleasdale. The next year, they moved to Belgrove House, a charming cottage outside of Edinburgh. Catherine was occasionally mentioned as one of Prince William’s gaggle of chums. In 2002, the Daily Mail quoted a friend as saying, “[Kate] is a very lovely girl, but very unassuming. She’s very bubbly, but also very discreet and loyal to William.”

For his part, the bashful prince attempted to protect all of his female friends from the glare of publicity. “There’s a lot of speculation about every single girl I’m with and it does quite irritate me,” he said in 2003. “The more so because it’s a complete pain for the girls. These poor girls, you know, who I’ve either just met and get photographed with, or they’re friends of mine, suddenly get thrown into the limelight and their parents get rung up and so on. It’s a little unfair on them really.”

  • Inside Kensington Palace: Explore the Royal Family’s Storied Home

Inside Kensington Palace: Explore the Royal Family’s Storied Home

Much of this intrigue was due to the fact that George I hated his son, the future George II, and their feud played out in the halls of Kensington Palace. When the old king died in 1727, the spoiled, emotional King George II and his brilliant, savvy wife, Queen Caroline, continued the family tradition and feuded with their eldest son, Frederick, Prince of Wales.

During the reign of George II, life at Kensington Palace was akin to the set of a posh soap opera. “Show me some good person about that court; find me, among those selfish courtiers, those dissolute gay people,” Sir Robert Walpole wrote, per Quinn, “someone I can love and regard.”

It was also packed with people, since Queen Caroline opened the Kensington Palace gardens, which she greatly improved, to the masses every Sunday. Anyone who dressed well enough could come to jockey for a position or patronage or simply gawk at the royals themselves.

“Court dinners could be boisterous and rowdy,” Worsley writes. “Once, so many people came ‘to see their majesties dine, that the rail surrounding the table broke.’ The people who had been leaning upon it all fell over and ‘made a diverting scramble for hats and wigs, at which their Majesties laugh’d heartily.’”

But despite Kensington Palace’s importance during this time, it was already beginning to rot. According to Worsley, George II’s mistress, Henrietta Howard, found that her Kensington Palace apartment was so damp that crops of mushrooms sprouted from the floor.

Kensington Palace: the Birthplace of Queens

The “mad” King George III hated the antics of his Hanoverian ancestors, and when he became king in 1760, he left the drama of Kensington Palace for Buckingham Palace, three miles away.

Now that the monarch was no longer in residence, Kensington Palace became a rundown warehouse for excess royals. “The magnificent state rooms were slowly allowed to decay until they became a dilapidated store for coal, broken furniture and old pictures,” Quinn writes. “Meanwhile, the rest of the palace began a long cyclical period during which various apartments were updated and modernized, then left to fall apart before being renovated once more.”

One of the most famous royal family members to call Kensington Palace home was the colorful, bombastic Caroline of Brunswick, the estranged wife of the future King George IV, who established a rival court to her husband in her apartments and was known to wander Kensington Gardens and talk to strangers. Another resident was Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, the eccentric ninth child of King George III, who filled his Kensington Palace apartment with his collection of rare books, medicines, and dozens of clocks.

“On the hour,” Quinn writes, “his apartment was filled with bells and gongs striking, musical tunes, national anthems, and martial airs.”

  • Taylor Swift “Completely In Shock” After 3 Children Stabbed to Death At Swift-Themed Dance Class

Taylor Swift “Completely In Shock” After 3 Children Stabbed to Death At Swift-Themed Dance Class

Taylor Swift issued a statement on Instagram Tuesday expressing her “horror” and “shock” after three children died following a mass stabbing Monday at a Swift-themed dance and yoga class in Southport, England. Several other children are injured or in critical condition after the attack, as well as two adults.

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock…” Swift wrote on her Instagram Stories Tuesday. “The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

According to Merseyside Police, the law enforcement responsible for the seaside town of Southport, a 17-year-old male suspect has been arrested after allegedly walking into a two-hour Taylor Swift Dance and Yoga workshop for elementary-aged kids with a knife and stabbing several attendees. Three girls, ages 6, 7, and 9 years old, have died as a result of their injuries, police confirmed.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also shared a sympathetic message on social media after the incident.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Signed “W&C,” the Waleses wrote, “As parents, we cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through.”

“We send our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this horrid and heinous attack,” they continued. “Thank you also to the emergency responders who, despite being met with the most horrific scenes, demonstrated compassion and professionalism when your community needed you most.”

Swift continues on the European leg of her long-running Eras Tour, and will return to London for a second series of shows at Wembley Stadium in mid-August.

Regarded as one of their prime haunts, Prince William and Princess Kate adore spending time on the Isles of Scilly – a group of 200 islands including the idyllic island of Tresco.

Located off the coast of Cornwall, the archipelago holds a special place in William’s heart as it played host to many a childhood holiday with Prince Harry, King Charles and Princess Diana.

In 2019, the Wales family stayed in a charming property called Dolphin House which is available for holiday lets. The manor house boasts six bedrooms, breathtaking sea views and a beautiful walled garden. Bliss.

Adored by Prince William’s late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, Balmoral is ever popular amongst the British royals. The Scottish bolthole is steeped in history and has quickly become one of the go-to destinations for many royals in search of beautiful scenery, stillness and activities such as hiking, cycling and riding.

In his youth, Prince William spent many happy summers exploring Balmoral with his brother Prince Harry and their father Charles.

The sprawling estate spans around 50,000 acres and features mountains, rivers and lochs, making it ideal for rowing too – a sport beloved by Princess Kate.

Princess Margaret also adored spending time in Mustique

Mustique has been a royal favourite for decades. Princess Margaret famously adored the private island, describing it as the only place where she felt she could “truly relax”.

Following in her footsteps, Prince William and Princess Kate first visited the beautiful Caribbean island of Mustique in 2008, and they’ve been returning ever since.

In 2019, they were said to have stayed in a luxury villa complete with a 60ft infinity pool, private staff and unrivalled sea views. The property was built in 2016 by William’s close friend, property developer Andrew Dunn, and is teeming with bright and breezy interiors.

Today’s match marks Middleton’s second public appearance of 2024, following a January surgery that revealed her more serious illness. We last saw the princess in June, when she attended the Trooping the Colour birthday celebration for King Charles III.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months,” Middleton said then. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

    The Best Espadrilles for Summer

When it comes to summer shoes, you can’t go wrong with an effortless espadrille. There’s something about that roped sole that instantly adds a perfectly seasonal edge to any ensemble, and while the espadrille is perhaps most closely associated with the traditional lace-up wedge or canvas flatform iterations, there are now countless other styles out there to choose from, for every sartorial preference.

Espadrilles originated in Spain hundreds of years ago as a simple, comfortable work shoe. They’ve since evolved into a versatile, fashionista-adored shoe; one that is quintessentially summer. Espadrilles are laidback yet polished, and they’re a lovely alternative when you’re not in the mood for a sporty athletic sneaker or uncomfortable heel. There’s a jute-soled shoe for every occasion; you can dress them up or down and pair them with everything from flowing maxi dresses and crisp white pants to crochet cover-ups and your favorite denim. They add a touch of sophisticated ease to any outfit, and it’s no wonder they’re so often the shoe of choice during summer months. “I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

  • Prince William’s ‘grudge’ against Prince Andrew explained as he ‘pushes King to evict brother from Royal Lodge’

Prince William’s ‘grudge’ against Prince Andrew explained as he ‘pushes King to evict brother from Royal Lodge’

Prince William is reportedly “pushing” for Prince Andrew to be booted out of his Royal Lodge home.

The Prince of Wales is apparently still unhappy with the way Prince Andrew reportedly welcomed Kate Middleton into the royal family. Or rather, how he didn’t really welcome her at all.

According to royal expert Richard Kay, Prince William has made his feelings clear for King Charles to push Andrew from the royal fold in wake of the Duke of York’s friendship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite denying the allegations levelled at him, Andrew has lost his military titles. Now, he will perhaps lose out on his lavish home…

Prince Andrew appears to have rubbed Prince William the wrong way (Credit: Zak Hussein / SplashNews.com)

Prince William ‘holds grudge against Prince Andrew’

Speaking to Mail Online, Kay claimed that William has “long held a grudge” against his uncle.

The author penned: “Differences between monarch and heir do remain. Especially when it comes to the Prince Andrew scandal. William has long held a grudge against Andrew for being unwelcoming when he first introduced the then Kate Middleton to the Royal Family. And he feels that his father has been too soft on him. It has led to speculation that it is William who is pushing his father to evict the Duke of York from Royal Lodge, so the Waleses could move in.”

For King Charles, forcing Andrew to move to Frogmore solves several problems at once.

Prince Andrew is reportedly being ousted to live at Frogmore, the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Royal commentator Tom Quinn has also chimed in. He told The Mirror: “For Charles, forcing Andrew to move to Frogmore solves several problems at once. It sends a message to Harry that, as a private citizen and no longer a working royal, he will never be allowed back to Frogmore.”

    Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge

“It sends [a] message to Andrew that having disgraced himself, he can no longer expect to live in the grand style. And, finally, it means that a suitably grand residence can be made ready for the royals who really matter – William and Kate. Charles is determined that Royal Lodge is the only residence on the royal estate at Windsor that is big enough and regal enough for his heir.”

Meanwhile, there has been speculation surrounding whether the Prince and Princess of Wales will move into Andrew’s Royal Lodge themselves.

A source claimed to the Mirror: “One of the main reasons why the couple are so content at Adelaide Cottage, their current home in Windsor Great Park, is because it is a family house. There are no live-in staff. Moving into the vast Royal Lodge would mean having to accommodate domestic staff. Something they have long resisted.”

    Prince Andrew scandal

Prince Andrew was pictured with Jeffrey Epstein in New York City’s Central Park after the businessman had been convicted of the prostitution of minors in 2010. Victoria Giuffre sued Andrew for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was just 17 years old. She also claimed convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein trafficked her.

A photo used as evidence seemed to show Andrew with his arm around Virginia. However, Andrew since stated the photo is fake and denied all claims. He said he has never met Ms Giuffre. However, she sued him in a civil court in New York. Consequently, Andrew paid an undisclosed sum to Victoria. He also made a donation to her charity.

  • Did Carole Middleton send a secret political message with her election day outfit?

Did Carole Middleton send a secret political message with her election day outfit?

On Thursday, the fabulous Carole Middleton looked incredible as she headed to the fourth day of Wimbledon.

WATCH: Everything You Need To Know About Carole Middleton

The mother of the Princess of Wales looked impeccably stylish as ever, donning a stunning white floral dress, which she teamed with a white blazer and low block heel pumps, as well as chic shades.

Carole Middleton looked amazing at Wimbledon wearing a Cefinn dress

The mother-of-three’s dress actually came from Cefinn – Samantha Cameron’s fashion brand. Samantha – who many affectionately refer to as Sam Cam – is married to David Cameron, who served as the UK prime minister for six years from 2010. He, of course, was the head of the Conservative Party.

Was it poignant that Carole chose to don this dress on July 4 – UK election day? Who knows!

Cefinn is a hugely popular designer brand and one that Carole has worn before, just like her daughter, so it may just be a total fashion coincidence.

    Carole and Kate twinning

Carole often wears brands that her royal daughter covets. Last month during Royal Ascot, the 69-year-old looked fabulous in a dress by Self-Portrait. Kate has consistently been wearing that brand for many years, so it’s a great choice for the wife of Micheal Middleton.

As well as having a penchant for the same brands, the pair have actually worn the same dresses on a  few occasions, too. One of Kate’s most well-known pink dresses was a stunning shirt dress by ME+EM she first wore back in 2021, and again at the Chelsea Flower show in 2023. The pretty style was a pleated number that featured a cinched waist and buttons all the way down the front.

The year after the royal first wore it, Carole headed to Royal Ascot in 2022 and put her own spin on the sophisticated look as she chose the same frock but switched it up with completely different accessories – dressing it with a fancy black fascinator and matching handbag.

  • Here’s how Kate and Pippa’s mum and dad built up a multi-million business from their own home

Here’s how Kate and Pippa’s mum and dad built up a multi-million business from their own home

CAROLE and Michael Middleton shot to fame the moment their daughter Kate Middleton married Prince William.

As well as being the parents of the Princess of Wales, they also have two younger children – Pippa and James.

    1

Carole and Michael are Kate Middleton’s parents

    Who is Carole Middleton?

Carole Middleton (nee Goldsmith) was born in London in 1955, to a relatively normal family and grew up in Southall.

She initially left school at 16, later returning and achieving four A-Levels.

Originally planning on being a teacher, she was unable to when her parents couldn’t put her through university.

She subsequently worked as a shop assistant for John Lewis, then as a secretary for British Airways.

She later transferred to ground crew.

By her marriage in 1980, she was working as a flight attendant.

    Who is Michael Middleton?

Michael Middleton was born in 1949 to a wealthy family who already had some ties to aristocracy.

He attended to the prestigious Clifton College in Bristol.

He boarded at Brown’s House (like his father and grandfather before him).

The Clifton College archives record that Michael was a praepostor, the title for a college prefect.

He represented the school in rugby and tennis.

After attending the University of Surrey, he commenced studies to become a pilot before switching to ground control when he graduated from the company’s internal course.

How did Carole and Michael meet?

Michael met Carole when they were both working as ground crew.

They were married on 21 June 1980 at St James’s Parish Church in Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and later bought a Victorian house near Reading.

What do Michael and Carole Middleton do for a living?

In 1987 the Middletons launched their own business, Party Pieces, after Carole realised she could make some money from creating party bags.

After growing the firm into a multi-million-pound business, Party Pieces was badly hit by Covid restrictions and in April 2023, the company called in advisers at restructuring firm Interpath to try to raise fresh funds for the business.

However, the family decided to move on from the company and in May 2023 the business sold in a pre-package deal to the Essex-based entrepreneur James Sinclair.

What is Michael and Carole Middleton’s net worth?

Michael and Carole’s Party Pieces business meant that the couple turned themselves into self-made millionaires. At the time of Kate’s wedding to Prince William in 2011 the business was estimated to be worth £30million. However, as of 2024, it’s thought the couple have more than £54million between them.

How old are Michael and Carole Middleton?

Michael’s date of birth is June 23, 1949, and Carole was born on January 31, 1955. Michael turned 75 in June 2024, while Carole turned 69 in January 2024.

This means Michael is just one year younger than daughter Kate’s father-in-law King Charles, who was born on November 14, 1948. Charles’ wife, Queen Camilla, is a year older than her husband and turned 77 in July 2024.

Camilla’s date of birth is July 17, 1947.

Where do Michael and Carole Middleton live?

Since moving there in 2013, the Middletons have lived in a £5million mansion dubbed the Bucklebury Manor.

The grade-II listed Georgian property boasts seven bedrooms, five reception rooms – including a drawing room and library – and 18 acres of land complete with a tennis court and outdoor swimming pool.

Traditional log fireplaces, a kitchen with a large wooden dining table, and a conservatory with enormous floor-to-ceiling windows have previously been shown in rare pictures shared from inside the house.

Is Kate Middleton descended from royalty and do her family have royal titles?

The short answer is, no, Michael and Carol do not have any type of royal title, despite Michael being descended from the landed gentry. This is because they are not part of the Royal Family, though their daughter is to be future Queen of England.

Their daughter Kate married into the family which is why it is only her, her husband and her children that have royal titles.

She is, however, indirectly related to royalty on her father’s side.

The Middleton family is linked to a former prime minister, though. William Petty-FitzMaurice served as British Prime Minister for a year, from 1782 to 1783.

The link to the Middleton family is through Lady Bullock, Michael’s cousin.

Through his direct ancestor, Dame Anne Fairfax, Michael Middleton has several descents from King Edward III.

Who are Michael and Carole’s children?

Michael and Carole are now the proud grandparents to second-in-line to the throne Prince George, his sister Princess Charlotte, and Prince William and Princess Kate’s third child, Louis.

They also have three more grandchildren through their second daughter Pippa, who is married to hedge-fund manager James Matthews.

James and Pippa share two daughters, Grace and Rose, and have one son called Arthur.

Michael and Carole’s son James Middleton married French financial analyst Alizée Thevenet on September 11, 2021.

They had their first son Inigo in October 2023.

The name Inigo is of Spanish and Basque origin, and means “fiery”.

Kate Middleton’s down-to-earth school run look

Whilst we have previously seen stunning images of Kate dropping the children off at Lambrook School, it turns out, on a day-to-day basis, things are much less glossy than you may imagine.

A friend told the Daily Record: “There are no blow-dries – it’s always hair up in a ponytail.

“She’s either in her gym clothes, or a dress and sneakers, very little makeup, apologising as she’s late for the school run before dashing off.

“It’s the life of a working mum with three young children – just a different sort of day job to most.”

In fact, when George and Charlotte attended their previous school of St Thomas’ in South London, it was reported that parents barely gave Kate a second glance during drop off and pick ups.

One parent told the Daily Mail : “No one really gives Kate a second glance when she does the school drop-off.

“We have a Victoria’s Secret model doing the school run, too, and the dads are far more interested in her.”

  • Meghan Markle “desperate to end feud” with Kate amid claims she’s “ready and willing to let the bitterness go”

Meghan Markle “desperate to end feud” with Kate amid claims she’s “ready and willing to let the bitterness go”

The latest Meghan Markle news has seen reports the Duchess of Sussex wants to make things up with the Princess of Wales.

The ladies have been embroiled in a feud for years, but it seems Kate’s cancer diagnosis has made Meghan soften towards her. And, as a result, she’s willing to now let sleeping dogs lie, it’s claimed, and “end this feud”.

Latest Meghan Markle news: Hopes of ‘triggering a truce’

Ahead of her return to the spotlight at Trooping the Colour, it was claimed that Meghan and Harry reached out to Kate. However, given the current state of their relationship, they didn’t get “much of a response”.

One insider alleged to Closer: “Both Harry and Meghan have been following Kate’s recovery with huge interest. They’ve jointly reached out to send well wishes, but they’re still not really in a place with Kate to warrant much of a response. That hasn’t stopped them from trying to connect and do what they see as the right thing. When Kate gets back into action, their hope is that it might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William, and with the King, too.”

    ‘Bigger person’

It’s claimed Meghan wants to be the “bigger person” when it comes to ending the feud. However, could she have ulterior motives?

The insider continued to claim: “Meghan’s desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them. Appearing like some sort of royal saviour could only do her image good. And, despite all their bad blood, her heart does go out to Kate. She can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her. Meghan has made it clear she’d love nothing more than to move past all the nonsense and find a way towards healing for everyone’s sake. She’s ready and willing to let the anger and bitterness go.”

Meghan Markle wants to be ‘accepted by British public’

However, the source said that it’s “not really up to her and Harry” to end the feud. They said that all the couple can do is “continue to reach out and offer olive branches”.

“There’s no doubt making peace with William and Kate would be a huge relief for Meghan on many levels. Not least because it would also improve her reputation and, in turn, the new brand she’s cultivating. Meghan would love to be accepted by the British public again. And getting the seal of approval from Kate and William would go a long way towards that.”

ED! has contacted reps for Meghan Markle for comment.

Princess of Wales returns to spotlight

Over the weekend, the Princess of Wales attended the Trooping the Colour parade in London.

She rode in a carriage with kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She then headed to the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the flypast.

It’s the first time Kate has been seen in public since Christmas Day.

  • Kate Middleton’s 1st Appearance Since Her Cancer Diagnosis Marks a Major Health Update

Kate Middleton’s 1st Appearance Since Her Cancer Diagnosis Marks a Major Health Update

Making a comeback. Kate Middleton’s Trooping the Colour appearance marked her first public outing in nearly six months since she started cancer treatments, and royal followers around the world were thrilled to see her return to the family fold.

The annual Trooping the Colour ceremony took place on June 15, 2024. The event, celebrating King Charles III’s birthday, saw the princess riding in a carriage with her three kids—Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—on their way to watch the king’s birthday parade. Later during the celebration, Kate joined her husband Prince William on the Buckingham Palace balcony, where they watched over the festivities alongside their kids, King Charles, and Queen Camilla.

During the event, Kate wore a white Jenny Packham dress with a black trim and a white and black ribbon bow at the neckline. Her hair was perfectly styled under a white-rimmed hat, adding plenty of elegance to her look.

Ahead of the exciting day, the Kensington Palace Instagram account also gave us a peek behind the scenes with some endearing videos of the family preparing for the event. One clip shows Kate gently playing with Charlotte’s hair, while another captures Louis waving from inside the carriage.

The Trooping the Colour event marked Kate’s first royal appearance since she shared some difficult health news back in March. At the time, the Princess of Wales revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Her last public outing was nearly six months ago at the family’s Christmas church service in December.

There were mixed reports about whether or not Kate would end up attending Trooping the Colour, but after weeks of speculation, the princess confirmed the news herself. In a statement on June 14, 2024, Kate revealed she would attend the event after all, offering the first update on her health since March 2024. She said, “I’m looking forward to attending the king’s birthday parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

Kate continued, “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.” The Princess of Wales also mentioned that her treatment would continue for “a few more months.”

While Kate hasn’t disclosed the specific type of cancer she’s facing, she first shared the news of her diagnosis in a video message in March 2023. Doctors discovered the cancer after she underwent abdominal surgery in January 2023. In her original announcement, Kate expressed her dedication to her royal duties, saying, “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”

  • Kate Middleton Makes First Public Appearance This Year At Trooping The Colour Pageant In London

Kate Middleton Makes First Public Appearance This Year At Trooping The Colour Pageant In London

The Princess of Wales has made a return to public life with a highly anticipated appearance at the Trooping the Colour pageant in London.

Her appearance, the first since she released a video to share that she was undertaking chemotherapy treatment back in February, comes a day after she released a message thanking supporters for all their well wishes during her time away from the spotlight.

Kate was photographed arriving with her family at Buckingham Palace on Saturday morning. She then took her place in a carriage alongside her three children to attend the pageant, an annual event to mark the monarch’s official birthday. King Charles was on horseback for his first occasion as sovereign last year, but this year watched from a carriage alongside his wife Camilla. Like Kate, Charles has been undertaking chemotherapy treatment over the last few months, although he has begun to reappear in public in recent weeks.

Prince William was separate from the rest of his family, mounted on horseback to participate in proceedings in Horseguard’s Parade, central London. The family were set to stand together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to observe the RAF flypast overhead.

Thousands of fans were gathered along The Mall, the long road leading up to the palace, with extra security including hundreds of Metropolitan Police officers deployed.

On Friday, Kate released a message explaining that, like many other people going through chemotherapy, she has “good days and bad days” and that she is “not out of the woods yet” but is preparing to undertake a few public events over the summer.

  • Princess Beatrice’s New Responsibilities From Kate Speak Volumes About Her Royal Future

Princess Beatrice’s New Responsibilities From Kate Speak Volumes About Her Royal Future

With King Charles and Princess Kate both focusing on their cancer recoveries, the royals are leaning on some unexpected members of the royal family for a helping hand—and this includes Prince Andrew’s daughter, Beatrice. For now, Princess Beatrice’s Kate Middleton cancer support plan will see King Charles’ niece taking on some public duties on behalf of the royal family, despite not being a working royal herself.

An insider recently revealed to OK! Magazine that Prince Andrew’s daughter “has been asked to fill in for Kate and do some appearances for the monarchy this summer.” Beatrice, who’s 35 now, “would love for it to become a permanent situation,” the source said. “Beatrice is comfortable in the spotlight and would be overjoyed to become a working royal.”

As for Kate, she announced she had cancer back in March 2024 and is reportedly feeling the “pressure” to get back to her royal duties, but King Charles wants her to focus on getting better first. “He was sympathetic and supportive, insisting she stop worrying and take as much time as is needed,” the insider shared. While Kate’s decision to stay out of the public eye might surprise some, the source emphasized that she “wants to make sure she’s here for her family — and the crown — for a long time.”

Kate’s cancer news came after she had a planned abdominal surgery in January 2024. The surgery went according to plan, but follow-up tests showed she had cancer, so she started preventative chemotherapy. In her announcement, Kate revealed she was in the early stages of treatment.

Before going public with her diagnosis, Kate and Prince William wanted to explain everything to their kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—so they wouldn’t be scared. “It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she shared in her announcement. “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.”

Kate’s news came shortly after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles was also being treated for cancer following a routine prostate procedure. On February 5, 2024, the palace said, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the palace’s statement continued. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual.”

Since then, King Charles has gotten back to work, while Kate continues to focus on her recovery. With all this going on, it looks like Princess Beatrice could be getting a lot more royal spotlight this summer.

  • Sarah Ferguson Says “Unity” and “Forgiveness” Are Helping the Royal Family Through Cancer Battles

Sarah Ferguson Says “Unity” and “Forgiveness” Are Helping the Royal Family Through Cancer Battles

Earlier this month, Princess Beatrice said that her mother Sarah Ferguson had been given the all-clear following a skin cancer diagnosis in January. This week, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew made her return to the red carpet for a series of galas at Cannes. On Thursday night, she attended the 2024 amFAR Gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, where she told People about how the royal family have been supporting each other through their unprecedented series of health challenges.

“I think family unity is key… I think the key to life is that we all support each other,” she said. “And also forgiveness is a great thing. I think forgiveness of yourself, and forgiveness of others.”

The year since the coronation of King Charles III has included a new level of publicity over royal health, beginning with Ferguson’s June 2023 surgery, after a routine mammogram identified breast cancer. In January, a subsequent announcement  that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer was followed by disclosures from the king and Kate Middleton that they were both being treated for unspecified forms of cancer. The king took a break from his public duties but has since returned to a near-regular schedule. Kate will stay away from public engagements until she is cleared by a doctor, according to a recent comment by her spokesperson.

In the aftermath of Kate’s diagnosis, Ferguson praised her in a statement shared to social media. “As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness,” it read.

Ferguson told People about her recovery and her reasons for disclosing her cancer publicly. “This evening I am doing very well. I think that we’ve managed to get cancer in the right place rather than cancer ruling me. I’ve put cancer in the corner,” she said. “I think you always have to be aware. I think it’s great to get checked for breast cancer [and] melanoma. I think you just have to be very candid about it… I think a lot of people get very frightened to talk about these things,” the Duchess of York continued. “I’m very happy with my mastectomy and my breasts and just to talk about it.”

The 64-year-old Ferguson made her first Cannes red carpet appearance at Wednesday’s Knights of Charity gala. According to Hello! she wore an emerald green beaded and sequined gown by Vivienna Lorikeet, and a gold bangle engraved with the name “Eugenie,” for her daughter, Princess Eugenie.

  • Kate Middleton & Prince William Are ‘Going Through Hell’ Amid Cancer Battle

Kate Middleton & Prince William Are ‘Going Through Hell’ Amid Cancer Battle

Just days after Prince William shared a rare Kate Middleton health update, a close friend of the couple is sharing how the couple is really faring after the news of Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

According to the couple’s friend Amaia Arrieta, a designer who has been dressing the family for over a decade, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been having a hard time dealing with the diagnosis despite putting on a brave face for the public. “I’m heartbroken at the moment,” Arrieta told The Telegraph on May 2, 2024. “I think they are going through hell.” She went on to add, “I hope they will be back. It’s really personal.”

Arrieta’s update came just two days after Prince William was asked about his wife’s health following a visit to the charity James’ Place Newcastle on April 30, 2024. During his walkabout, the Prince of Wales was stopped by a royal fan, who asked about Kate’s condition. “Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?” the woman asked, to which Prince William replied, “We’re all doing well, thank you.”

The woman continued, “And obviously Catherine?” William answered a second time, “We’re all doing well.”

The Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis on March 22, 2024. Her diagnosis came shortly after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery in January 2024. While the surgery was successful, post-operative tests discovered the presence of cancer. Her medical team recommended she begin preventative chemotherapy, and in her announcement, Kate revealed she was in the early stages of this treatment.

Despite much speculation about her condition in the weeks leading up to her announcement, the mother of three delayed sharing the news of her diagnosis—in part so that she and Prince William could properly explain her condition to their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she shared at the time. “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

Kate also expressed her gratitude for the support she received, making special shout out to her husband. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too,” she said. “As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

The news of Kate’s diagnosis came just over a month after Buckingham Palace announced that her father-in-law, King Charles, was also undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer following a routine prostate procedure. “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the palace said in a statement on February 5, 2024. “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual.”

The monarch has since returned to work, having attended three public royal engagements during the week of April 29, 2024. Princess Kate, meanwhile, is continuing her recovery in private.
