  • Royal Hairstylist Speaks Out After Rumors Kate’s New Blonde Hair Is a Wig: ‘I Cannot Believe… ‘

Princess Diana’s hairstylist, Sam McKnight, is speaking out amid rumors Kate Middleton’s new blonde hair is a wig.

McKnight, who worked as Diana’s personal hairstylist for seven years before her death, took to Instagram on September 4 to defend Prince William’s wife’s recent hair makeover. “I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today,” he wrote in a post. “A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armor, defense, confidence and so much more.”

He continued, “I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married and the role she took on, to bravely face the public.”

McKnight ended his post by reminding critics that Kate recently went through cancer. (The Princess of Wales announced that she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in March 2024. After undergoing chemotherapy, she revealed that her cancer was in remission in January 2025.)

“I’m sure she would rather be away from the public arena. She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation,” McKnight concluded. “Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life changing for everyone So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU.”

Kate debuted her new honey blonde hair while visiting the National History Museum’s newly transformed gardens with her husband, Prince William. The appearance marked the couple’s first joint outing following their summer break. For the appearance, Kate wore her hair in her signature bouncy blowout waves with a side part. Kate first sparked speculation she dyed her hair on August 24 when she was photographed arriving to church near Balmoral Castle in Scotland with William and their kids: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 04: Catherine, Princess of Wales during her visit to the Natural History Museum's newly renovated gardens on September 04, 2025 in London, England. The gardens opened in 2024 and serve as a living laboratory, where visitors and scientists can identify and monitor wildlife in an urban environment.

After her appearance at the National History Museum, however, Kate came under accusations that her hair was a wig. “Surely the #RoyalFamily can afford a better looking wig than this for #KateMiddleton. Ladies, this is why you’re supposed to earn your own money…..so that you can go and buy proper wigs for yourself!!!” a user wrote on X. Another user wrote on X, “Kate Middleton wearing the cheapest wig I’ve ever seen in my life 😂.” One more user wrote on X, “I hope this is a wig because Kate Middleton’s new look is just plain awful..”

Other users, however, denied that Kate’s hair was a wig and speculated that she could’ve worn hair extensions. “It’s not a wig; you can see at the front that it isn’t a wig. #KateMiddleton has hair extensions in, look at the back of her head, 👇. She been wearing hair extensions forever?” a user wrote on X.

  • Kate Middleton as a Blonde Is Bound to Launch a Trend, Says Royal Hairstylist

Kate sported a similar makeover three years ago when she was seen taking Prince Louis to school for his first day with Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. At the time, the blonder color was referred to as “bronde” – a mix of blonde and bronde which sparked a trend in salons around the country. Kate’s latest look is bolder and shows a new confidence in the royal, who has made a gradual return to work since successfully completing a course of chemotherapy last year.

Kate and William looked thrilled to be back on duty now that the summer holidays are over and their children are back at school. Kate is patron of the Natural History Museum and was greeted by the museum’s director, Doug Gurr, who introduced them to children who benefit from the museum’s learning programs which take place in the newly opened gardens, where scientists and visitors can experience and learn about wildlife in the centre of London. The Natural History Museum’s Urban Nature Project has seen more than 7,500 schools, colleges, and nurseries getting involved so far and is inspiring action in young people by developing their connection with nature.

Kate is passionate about the importance of nature and children spending time in nature, a theme that shaped her Back to Nature play garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.

Recently, Princess Kate spoke about the importance of nature in her healing journey following her cancer diagnosis last year. In a video she released on social media over the summer, she reiterated the importance of reconnecting with nature.

Thursday’s visit comes after a busy summer for the Prince and Princess of Wales, which included a trip to Kefalonia aboard a luxury superyacht.

William and Kate usually spend their summer in Norfolk at their countryside home Anmer Hall but following a tough year for the family, they decided to travel overseas and enjoyed “the holiday of a lifetime,” according to one royal source.

They adhered to the tradition of traveling to Scotland at the end of the holidays and were in Balmoral for the recent August Bank holiday with King Charles and Queen Camilla and were seen driving to church.

The late Queen Elizabeth II used to host a long weekend for her family and looked forward to welcoming her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to the castle every year. It is a tradition King Charles has continued and one William and Catherine look forward to each year.

  • Inside the Dinner Where Kate Middleton and Prince William Cemented Their Partnership

In 2007, Kate Middleton and Prince William ended their relationship. The breakup was announced in the tabloids, with no protest from the palace, nearly five years after their romance began. But before too long, the future King and Queen of England reunited. Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for Prince Charles at the time, tells the story of how they came together again in a new book called The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service.

In 2008, a year after the breakup, Harrold says found himself in charge of a very special meal. His mission? Organize a private dinner for two at the royal residence of Highgrove House. The guests? Kate and William, who were celebrating the revival of their relationship.

“It was just the two of them,” the former butler recalled to People. “It was really nice, really special.” Despite the intimacy of a meal designed for them, he added, they took care to “interact a lot” with him. He saw how the dinner’s atmosphere reflected their newfound camaraderie.

“Before, they weren’t [really] holding hands—it was very much William’s friend. After that, when they got back together, it absolutely changed, and it was very much them as a couple. Something changed, and you knew they were a couple, and from then on, it was very much a waiting game,” he said. “After they got back together, I was convinced they would get married. We didn’t know how long it would take.”

Harrold compares the Wales couple’s love to that shared by the late Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip: “When you saw them together and see them get on as friends, although they were in love, they are also absolutely best friends,” he said. “They were best friends who worked together as a team.”

But the 2007 breakup could have been final. Kate spent much of that year waiting for her prince, who was on one mission after another as he trained for the military and to be a helicopter pilot. Each time he returned to London, he partied hard with his friends. At the time, The Guardian quoting The Sun—reported that “the couple have seen each other no more than once a week” and “their relationship has been on a downward spiral.” The tabloid quoted a close friend of both: “As far as Kate is concerned, William simply hasn’t been paying her enough attention. She is stuck in London while he is living in an officer’s mess in Dorset. Kate feels hugely frustrated that their relationship just seems to be going backwards at a rate of knots.” Paparazzi footage showing Prince Harry’s brother flirting with other young women didn’t help the situation.

According to Robert Jobson, author of a biography devoted to the Princess of Wales, the breakup took place over the phone, and William was the catalyst. “William telephoned to initiate a split, telling her that he felt they needed ‘a bit of space’ to ‘find our own way,” Jobson said. “William admitted his inability to commit to marriage.” The phone call reportedly lasted half an hour, enough time for them to both acknowledge being on “different pages.” The eldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was said to have drowned his sorrows in parties. He even shouted “I’m free!” to his friends in a Mayfair nightclub before buying a round.

Kate, for her part, returned to live with her parents for a while, before a family holiday in Dublin and a vacation in Ibiza. Rather than run away from the paparazzi, she used the cameras to project the image of a radiant young woman enjoying her freedom, too. A few months later, the exes reunited at a party organized by a mutual friend. Rumor has it they made up on the dance floor. Eighteen years on, Kate and William are the parents of three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis—and continue to represent the Crown as they await becoming sovereigns in their own rights.

  • William Accused of Breaking Major Royal Rule to Give George, Charlotte & Louis the ‘Life He Never Had’

Prince William’s already expected to change the monarchy as we know it. The heir reportedly also wants to keep his home life balanced and out of the spotlight once he takes the throne.

In late August 2025, it was reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales is moving to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park from Adelaide Cottage. Royal expert Jennie Bond told GB News that it’s a pivotal moment for the future King. “William is focused on creating a stable and private family life: the kind he never had when he was growing up,” she explained about his kids, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. “And so he wants to keep his family firmly rooted.”

Related: William Reportedly Blocking Charles’ Reconciliation With ‘Terrible’ Harry Amid Fears His Brother Will Take ‘Advantage’ of Their Father

The royal family also isn’t expected to live in Buckingham Palace when he ascends to the throne. “I don’t think William is going to bat an eyelid about breaking certain royal traditions.” The royal expert continued, “He doesn’t want to live in a palace or a castle, and he has made up his mind to do things differently.”

“Living in a house—albeit a pretty big house as Forest Lodge is—will give his family a much more normal life, and that, I’m sure, is going to stand them in good stead,” the royal expert continued.

For the royal expert, it goes hand in hand for the Prince’s goals to make the royal family seem relatable to the public. “I can only describe what I’m trying to do and that’s trying to do it differently and I’m trying to do it for my generation,” William said late last year. “I’m doing it with maybe a smaller r in the royal, if you like, that’s maybe a better way of saying it.”

William and Kate are reportedly looking at the move as a chance at a new beginning for their family after what has been a complicated year for them. “Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind. This is a move for the long term. They see it as their forever home,” a source told NBC News.

The family is expected to move in December 2025. The residence is reportedly  is reportedly being renovated according to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s specifications, with new shrubs being planted and a metal fence with black mesh privacy screens being placed around the front of the home to ensure privacy for their family. The Prince and Princess of Wales are said to be paying for the renovations themselves to ease taxpayers’ wallets.

  • The Real Reason Meghan Isn’t Joining Harry on His Return to the UK After William & Kate’s Friends Dissed Her Brand

Prince Harry is likely to reunite with his father King Charles in the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex is reportedly planning to meet up with the King after 20 months without contact.

A source told The Mirror that the reconciliation is indeed happening between father and son in September. The Duke is slated to return to the UK on the third death anniversary of Queen Elizabeth for the WellChild Awards, a charity he has been patron of for 17 years. There is “determination on both sides to make [a reunion] happen,” the source said. “Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry,” the source said, saying that it’s “the right time to take that step” with “a simple face-to-face conversation between a father and son.”

Related: William’s ‘Lack of Trust’ Toward Meghan Is the Real Reason He’s Refusing to Reconcile With Harry—There’s a ‘Mark on Her Character’

The source continued, “This is not about grand gestures or set-piece meetings. … The priority is privacy and dignity, but also ensuring the door stays open for further dialogue.

The Sun reported that Meghan is “not expected” to join her husband on the trip. It would mark his first trip back to his home country after losing a public court battle to reinstate his public funded security with the Home Office. Harry always said the legal battle “mattered” more to him than anything else.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have indicated they don’t believe they’re safe in the U.K., with Harry saying when he lost his court case trying to get security reinstated, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”

On the family front, there’s still tension within the family. Prince William is reportedly not involved in the reunion. “As for Harry and William, though, any chance of reconciliation between them has been rejected out of hand,” the Mirror insider added.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of “My Mother and I,” claimed to Fox News Digital that William is having trouble taking that final step because of Meghan Markle. “The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan,” Seward said. A source told People that William and Harry are “on separate paths” with no communication between them. “The rift is very profound and very long-lasting,” Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, told the outlet. “It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes.”

To add to that, William and Kate’s friends refer to Markle’s brand, As Ever. A royal source told the Daily Mail that the rebrand of the company made friends of the couple give the brand a new nickname: “As If.”

Reportedly, the meaning behind “as if” is “as if it will take off.” One reportedly said, “It’s caused quite a bit of laughter within the group. WhatsApp messages have been going back and forth. It’s all very budget and rushed. Embarrassing, really.” There’s no confirmation on whether this is a name William and Kate also use. But time will tell if the royal family will ever be reunited fully.

  • This A-lister wore Kate Middleton’s iconic one-shoulder gown – did you notice?

Princess Kate has wowed us with her red carpet style countless times over the years, but perhaps never more so than at the 2019 BAFTAs, when she stepped out in a billowing one-shoulder dress by Alexander McQueen. The fashion-forward number featured a fabulous floral applique on one shoulder and was so beloved by the future Queen that she wore it again to the 2023 BAFTAs, removing the floral detailing, which she replaced with a flowing tulle cape.

However, it transpires Princess Kate wasn’t the first to wear the style, with actress Anne Hathaway taking to the Venice Film Festival in 2007, wearing a strikingly similar gown. The Devil Wears Prada icon wore a near-identical dress to walk the red carpet with her co-stars Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

Though the dresses are extremely similar, Anne’s gown is in fact by Valentino, but features the familiar column shape, one-shoulder detailing, and waist detailing, making it a dead ringer for the Princess of Wales’ dress.

    Styling the dress

Both Princess Kate and Anne Hathaway opted to sweep their hair up and back to complement the dramatic shoulder detailing of the dress, with their long brunette hair looking perfectly coiffured in this style. That said, the second time the Princess of Wales wore the gown, she opted to wear her hair long and loose.

Accessories-wise, the two women also both added glittering drop earrings to their look, though for the 2023 event, Princess Kate opted for statement gold earrings, adding an of-the-moment on on-trend vibe to the timeless dress.

They even both wore strikingly similar cuff bracelets with the dress, juxtaposing the light, airy gown with a chunky accessory for an added edge. In addition, Anne and Princess Kate both held metallic clutch bags, so we assume it’s fair to say that the Princess of Wales was inspiratied by Anne’s style.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William Confirm Their Excitement About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement

This wasn’t the first time William and Swift met. On November 26, 2013, they duetted at the Winter White Gala at Kensington Palace, belting out the Jon Bon Jovi hit “Livin’ On a Prayer” to benefit charity. “He was very nice. I was really glad to have met him,” Swift said at the time. Years later, in a 2021 interview, William remembered his impromptu rock star moment. “I went to a charity fundraising gala for Centrepoint,” he said, where “Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are at the event, which nearly knocked me off my feet.”

“I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause, and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing,’” he remembered. “To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.’”

William was “a little scared,” Taylor had recounted. The prince was even clearer: “Beneath my black tie, there was a lot of sweating going on. I felt like a swan, where I was trying to keep myself composed on the outside, but inside, the little legs are paddling fast. When I do speeches and things like that, I’ve done so many now, they’re not a problem. But I’ve not done singing. At times, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you’ve got to roll with it.”

Given her years of history with William, beginning with encouraging him to step out of that royal comfort zone, then, it’s no surprise that Swift has received that royal blessing for her and Kelce’s happy news.

  • A Guide to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Many, Many Homes

Prince William and Kate Middleton are packing up and moving, again. The Wales family’s new home will be Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, only five miles away from Adelaide Cottage, where they currently live. Built in the 1700s and last renovated in 2001, Forest Lodge is a stately Georgian mansion fit for a future king and queen. The move sparked controversy when The Mail on Sunday reported that two separate families nearby were asked to leave their homes and were given other accommodations in Windsor Great Park.

William and Kate are no strangers to revolving real estate: They have been house hopping since they were college students at St. Andrews University in Scotland. In fact, their romance blossomed after they were already roommates.

    13A Hope Street

Prince William and Kate Middleton met at St. Andrews in 2001 and became fast friends. In 2002, Will and Catherine, along with friends Fergus Boyd and Olivia Bleasdale, decided to leave the campus dorms and rent a flat together.

According to Robert Jobson’s Catherine, the Princess of Wales, they chose an apartment at 13A Hope Street, an unassuming gray stone house on a street filled with student housing. Although the landlord was initially wary of renting to college boys, she decided to make an exception for the prince and was soon struck by how normal and pleasant William and his roommates seemed. The rent was normal as well, reportedly only 400 British pounds a week, split four ways.

Of course, some accommodations had to be made. According to Jobson, bulletproof windows and a bomb-proof front door were installed, and security officers were always close by. But in other ways it was a typical college apartment, with William shopping at Safeway supermarket and doing chores. “We all get on very well and start off having rotas, but, of course, it just broke down into complete chaos. Everyone helps out when they can,” William said at the time, according to Prince William by Penny Junor. “I try to help out when I can and they do the same for me, but usually you just fend for yourself.”

They say you don’t really know a person until you live with them, and Kate and William clearly liked their experience. Sparks began flying between the two, and they were soon more than just platonic housemates. According to Jobson, the couple spent quiet nights with Boyd and Bleasdale listening to R&B and jazz and cooking each other meals. But it wasn’t all studying and lazing about; 13A Hope Street also became known for its raucous parties.

Kate Middleton and Prince William during a visit to The Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, August 30, 2017.Chris Jackson/Getty Images.

According to Junor, the frequent festivities drove one of their neighbors, a part-time lecturer named Dana, crazy. “The poor girl was plagued with students partying three times a week,” a source told Junor. “She was really suffering, on the verge of tears because she couldn’t sleep. One night she got up and went and knocked on the door of one to ask them to keep the music down. The door was opened and who was in the hallway but William!”

However, living on a lively public street had its drawbacks. As their romance blossomed, Kate and William would leave the apartment at different times of day. The location was also a headache for members of William’s security team, but it fit in with his desire to live a normal life.

    Balgove House

For the next two school years, the couple decided to move away from prying eyes into the countryside. Along with new roommates Oliver Baker and Alasdair Coutts-Wood, they rented an old cottage called Balgove House, owned by William’s distant cousin Henry Cheape. “Balgove House stood in its own grounds with some two acres of wild meadow surrounded by a six-foot-high stone wall,” Robert Lacey writes in Battle of Brothers. “William said it was just like a miniature Highgrove—and only a quarter of a mile from the St. Andrews campus.”

Although their famous house parties continued, their two years spent at Balgove House also offered more intimate delights. “With open countryside to walk in without fear of being spotted, and open fires to come home to in the dark evenings,” Junor writes, “it was little short of idyllic and provided the perfect sanctuary for William and Kate to explore their relationship further.”

    Bodorgan Hall

After Kate and William graduated in 2005, they officially lived apart for several years. But in 2010, the couple was engaged, and William took a job as a search-and-rescue pilot based in Anglesey, a bucolic rural island in Wales. Kate soon joined him, according to Hello Magazine.

  • How Prince Philip’s Advice Changed Kate Middleton’s Relationship With the Media

Whenever a camera is pointed at her, Kate Middleton thinks of Prince Philip. Before his death, the husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II gave the royal several pieces of advice on how best to cope with the media frenzy surrounding the royal family. He knew better than anyone: marrying a future king or queen is no mean feat.

Princess Kate’s every move is scrutinized by the public and immortalized by a camera, wielded by a palace photographer, a journalist, or a commoner, a smartphone held at arm’s length. According to biographer Gyles Brandreth’s 2021 book, Philip: The Final Portrait, the Duke of Edinburgh gave Kate a piece of advice that shaped her approach to the public.

“If you think the attention is on you personally, you’ll end up in trouble,” Philip told her, per Hello!. “The focus is on your role, what you do, what you support. It’s not focused on you as an individual. You’re not a celebrity. You represent the royal family. That’s all.”

This lesson in humility has paid off, as Prince William’s wife is now the most popular member of the royal family, hailed for her discretion, elegance, and devotion to the causes she holds dear. Philip himself was full of praise for Kate Middleton, commending her sensible and level-headed character, according to Brandreth.

The advice he gave her also enabled her to adjust her behavior with the media. The key? Never look at the lens, and stay focused on the person you’re talking to, no matter how many recorders are nearby. While Prince Philip was always known for his attentiveness to the youngest members of the family, it seems that Kate was particularly touched by their exchanges. So much so that royal experts see similarities in their very different backgrounds: “Kate shines in her own light, but she knows her place in the royal family. She never tries to overshadow her husband,” Penny Junor, a royal family biographer, told the Daily Mail. “I think Kate is a bit like Prince Philip, who has always supported Queen Elizabeth II.”

There are also whispers that Kate and William are inspired by the longevity of Elizabeth and Philip’s marriage as they look toward the future. Their elders enjoyed 73 years of marriage, until the Duke of Edinburgh’s death on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99. The Queen passed away on September 8 of the following year, aged 96.

  • Is This Familiar Face Kate Middleton’s New Stylist?

Kate Middleton is one of the world’s most watched, commented on, and admired personalities, not least for her impeccable sense of style. She has become one of the world’s most elegant style icons, a champion for British designers and an advocate of responsible consumption. Her looks, through their provenance or hues, often convey powerful messages that require meticulous behind-the-scenes work to prepare.

Until recently, this task has fallen to Natasha Archer. For 15 years, the Briton traveled the world at Kate’s side, planning her outfits, some of which have become iconic. A witness to major family events and royal tragedies, she ultimately became her confidante. But in mid-July, she announced that she was stepping down from her position to concentrate on launching her own fashion design firm. The big question remains: who will succeed her?

The British media are largely convinced that the future queen’s stylist will be Virginia Chadwyck-Healey, nicknamed Ginnie by friends. A former market editor at U.K. Vogue, she’s no stranger to grappling with both fashion and public relations. Today, while continuing to write about style for the Telegraph and Sky News, she also advises private clients through her styling firm, VCH Style. She encourages her clients to “embrace the need for less” and “shop better,” according to her website, a philosophy that fits in perfectly with Kate’s personal fashion ethics.

    Dave Benett/Getty Images

The daughter of a Lord, Chadwyck-Healey has moved in the same circles as the princess for many years. Like Kate, she studied art history at St Andrews University. Also like Kate, she met her future husband Oliver there—the couple were invited to the royal wedding of Kate and Prince William in April 2011. And like Kate, she now lives with her three children in Berkshire, west of London.

Beyond her CV and her proximity to Wales, Chadwyck-Healey has a third major asset: she has already been Kate’s stylist. In 2019, while Natasha Archer was on maternity leave, royal fans spotted a subtle change in style in Prince William’s wife. The journalist was the reason. “Ginnie is Catherine’s secret weapon,” a royal source told the Daily Mail. “She has made a big difference to the Duchess’s wardrobe for public engagements and has helped give her a whole new sense of confidence.” Catherine was said to be “impressed” and “very grateful” for Chadwyck-Healey’s help.

Fans of royal fashion are even more convinced of Chadwyck-Healey’s frontrunner status since Carole Middleton’s appearance at Wimbledon. She wore a loose-fitting striped dress, the result of a collaboration between Chadwyck-Healey and the Beulah London label, which Kate is particularly fond of. And we all know that the most discreet clues about royal fashion often speak the loudest.

For the moment, nothing has been confirmed. The Telegraph also highlighted the possibility of another contender, Jamie Earlam, who, according to her LinkedIn page, is currently the personal clothing assistant to the Wales family. Will Kate Middleton buy Ginnie Chadwyck-Healey’s expertise, or will she surprise us by choosing an unexpected candidate? The answer can’t be far away.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William Want to “Start Afresh” in New Home, Sources Say

Prince William and Kate Middleton are looking forward to starting “a new chapter” when they move out of Adelaide Cottage and into Forest Lodge. Sources close to the couple say they want to leave the difficult memories of the past three years behind and “start afresh” when they move into the stunning eight-bedroom, six-bathroom home with a “ballroom” and tennis court, in Windsor Great Park later this year.

It is the family’s third move in as many years. In 2022, William, Kate and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, left London for Windsor, trading Kensington Palace for Adelaide Cottage. The four-bedroom house is too small for the family, and friends say the couple wants a change after a turbulent three years.

Shortly after moving into Adelaide Cottage, Queen Elizabeth died, and in 2024 Princess Kate and King Charles were both diagnosed with cancer.

Sources close to the family say William and Catherine, who is in remission, are mapping out a long-term plan to stay in Windsor, where their three children are enrolled in school. Although the palace has not confirmed where Prince George will attend secondary school, William’s alma mater Eton College is on their short list and an easy commute from Forest Lodge.

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will stay at nearby prep school Lambrook School until they are eleven.

Sources have told Vanity Fair that there will be no other changes to the couple’s living arrangements and that they will keep their Kensington Palace apartment as their official London residence as well as Anmer Hall in Norfolk, which was gifted to them by the late Queen as a wedding present.

William and Kate are said to be “future planning” for when they are King and Queen and will divide their lives between Windsor, Norfolk and London.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William Moving To Windsor Great Park

Three years after Kate Middleton and Prince William swapped their Kensington Palace residence for a main home on the Windsor Home Park estate, the family is moving again. Along with children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the Prince and Princess of Wales will soon leave their current abode of Adelaide Cottage for the nearby Forest Lodge, located in the Windsor Great Park.

The couple moved to Adelaide Cottage in 2022, motivated by a desire to escape the spotlight of Kensington Palace and to be closer to Queen Elizabeth’s Windsor Castle home.

“William and Kate have been talking to their close friends about leaving Kensington Palace, where they feel very overlooked,” a source told Vanity Fair nearly a year before the couple’s move. “It will remain their official London base, but they prefer being in the countryside and the commute to London would be very easy.”

While the four-bedroom cottage the couple settled on reportedly wasn’t their dream home, it appeared to be the best option at the time. “Finding a way to make Adelaide Cottage work seems to be the best and only option,” a source said at the time of their move. “There are issues with all the other houses, so Adelaide will be the favorite.”

But soon after the family started to unpack, things changed again. Queen Elizabeth died, just as Kate Middleton and Prince William landed in the dwelling. “It was not exactly the settling-in period they had hoped for,” a source said of that period in the Waleses’ lives.

Instead, that move preceded a few years of unexpected struggle. After the obligations of the Queen’s funeral, the young family was thrust into preparations for the coronation of King Charles III. Less than a year later, the king went public with his diagnosis of cancer, while unbeknownst to the world until a bombshell announcement in March 2024, Kate Middleton was also undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of the disease.

Middleton announced that she was officially in remission earlier this year, while the king’s treatments are reportedly ongoing, both factors that likely impacted the Walses’ latest decision to move. (Less of a factor, it seems, is a recent security breach near their current home, nor a similar incursion the year before.)

Their home-to-be, the 328-year-old Forest Lodge, is currently undergoing minor renovations, the Independent reports, noting that “the royal couple are understood to be paying for the move and renovations themselves, avoiding any extra cost to the taxpayer.” According to planning applications filed in June with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, changes to the eight-bedroom structure include “new doors and windows, stripping out internal walls, renovated ceilings and new floors.”

The residence, which the king owns as part of the Crown Estate, was last renovated in 2001, records show, after which it was available to rent for £15,000 per month. The family plans to move into their new home in the near future, a Kensington Palace spokesperson confirms, saying “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

  • Is Princess Anne the Royal Family’s Accidental Style Icon?

Accidental style icon. That describes Princess Anne, the indefatigable royal who turns 75 Friday, who has no intention of retiring to private life despite her age. At an official event attended by other royals such as Kate Middleton and Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh, it’s unlikely that the second-born daughter of Queen Elizabeth will make headlines for her look, but hers may be the most interesting of all. There is no special process around what she wears other than the directions prescribed by protocol, there are no stylists to select her outfits, and she has not created any association with luxury brands. Yet Princess Anne is undoubtedly a style icon, even if by accident. The reason? She is one of the few royals who dress with personality. And you either have that or you don’t, there is no image consultant or brand who can make it for you.

    Mark Cuthbert/Getty Images

“The Queen and I had a discussion the other day about the difference between fashion and style and I think maybe that’s relevant in the sense that she didn’t do fashion but she certainly does style, and style tends to last longer. You have an individual style and it’s a quality which has a long-term value,” she said in 2022. On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee, the Australian magazine Women’s Day was granted not just an interview but the opportunity to eavesdrop on a conversation between mother and daughter.

The two women, for whatever reason, slipped into a conversation that led them to talk about clothes, illustrating their philosophy. Although Queen Elizabeth’s style and Princess Anne’s are very different, we can see a common matrix that prioritizes service over fashion trends.

Comfort comes first for the workaholic of the Royal Family. Every year the princess royal wins the title of the hardest-working royal, with hundreds and hundreds of events attended. In 2024 alone, the year a horseback riding accident forced her out of work for several weeks, she nevertheless reached 474. So she needs clothes that are both practical and appropriate for the context in which she will have to operate.

Between a helicopter or car transfer, a plane to catch and dozens of people to meet, Anne needs to be sure that her clothes will not betray her. So wearing tried-and-true, field-tested outfits provides her with the crystal ball: she knows how they will react to spills, how they will look in photographs, and whether the sleeves are appropriate for shaking the hands of those she meets.

Though rewears are a well-established practice among the royals who try to please detractors who do not want their tax dollars going into clothes, in Princess Anne we seem to detect a certain ill-concealed complacency in making headlines with looks several years old. With each outing, recent ones included, it is as if the royal confronts us with a riddle to be solved that sends royal fashion enthusiasts into jubilation.

There was her 2025 Commonwealth Day outfit, the same one she wore in 2023. There was the outfit she broke out on the second day of Royal Ascot 2025, originally spotted on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in 1987. At the Royal Ascot in 2015, Princess Anne dusted off a yellow coat that had debuted a full 35 years earlier at Trooping the Colour. There is a white coat with blue inserts on the shoulders that has cyclically reappeared since 1980.

In the portrait dedicated to her by the Daily Mail on the occasion of her birthday, some of her friends said that it is highly unlikely that Anne will buy a new dress for the wedding of her son Peter Phillips, who announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling on August 1.

“Princess Anne is a true style icon and was all about sustainable fashion before the rest of us really knew what that meant,” said Edward Enninful, former editor of British Vogue, in a Vanity Fair article from 2020. “She is timeless in her style, and she wears a tailored suit better than anyone else I can think of.”

  • Dolly Parton Invites Kate Middleton & Kids to Dollywood

Dolly Parton sent invites to Kate Middleton and her kids. Is the Royal Family headed to Dollywood?

It is a rare honor when true royalty is gracious enough to extend their hand. But Dolly Parton is a deeply gracious person, and she did just that for the next Queen of England and for her young children.

That is to say, Dolly Parton has invited Kate Middleton to bring Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to visit her theme park.

Will the royal family take her up on the invitation?

The one and only Dolly Parton has invited Kate Middleton and her three kids

In addition to her music, her acting career, and her profound charity work, Dolly Parton also has her very own theme park.

Dollywood is a gem in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. And fortunately, that area was spared the brunt of Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact upon the region in late September.

In a new interview, Dolly Parton actually invited 11-year-old George, 9-year-old Charlotte, and 6-year-old Louis to Dollywood. And, of course, their mother.

Speaking to Closer in a new interview, Dolly Parton spoke about her desire to have Kate Middleton and the royal children visit Dollywood.

“Oh, I would absolutely love for them to come to Dollywood, that would be fantastic!” the music legend declared.

“The kids could go on all the rides,” Dolly Parton affirmed, “and we would treat them like royalty!”

‘I would love to have those kids at Dollywood’

“I’d give Kate my mashed potatoes — I wouldn’t put on any airs for them,” Dolly Parton promised. She is famously down-to-earth.

“I would just let them enjoy what we enjoy, and I’m sure that’s the way they would want it,” she added.

Dolly Parton then affirmed the invites to Kate and her kids: “I would love to have those kids at Dollywood.”

Back in August of 2023, Dolly Parton admitted that she had received an invitation to join Kate Middleton for tea.

However, she had to decline. She was in the UK to promote her rock album, Rockstar. Her schedule was simply too busy to accept the royal invitation.

It was not even her first time receiving an invitation to meet with the royal family.

She met the late Queen Elizabeth … many years ago

Dolly Parton met Queen Elizabeth in 1977, during the late monarch’s Silver Jubilee. In the years since, she has praised the queen’s demeanor and manners.

As part of her royal duties as a sort of publicly funded mascot for the UK, Kate Middleton engages in a lot of charity projects. Dolly Parton is famously one of the most charitable people on the planet, having giftend over 200 million books worldwide to children through her Imagination Library.

If Dolly does have a chance to have tea with Kate, they’d have plenty of common ground. Even if they come from altogether different worlds.

The Princess of Wales just revamped her polka dot dress – with majorly clever styling hack

The world was delighted to see the simply stunning Princess of Wales on Thursday in Southport. The royal stepped out alongside her husband, Prince William, where she met first responders, the families of survivors, and survivors of the horrific knife attack in the city on July 29 at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

The pretty dress was designed in the colour of the season, burgundy, and cost £149 at the time of purchase, almost six years ago.

On close inspection, we realised that the royal made the dress look almost brand new with one clever hack. You will notice the dress appears to have a  neck tie attached. Well, this is actually the detachable belt which comes with the dress! So smart; and a great way to reinvent the style for a new occasion.

The mother of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis wore the dress first at Kensington Palace for the finalists of 2018’s BBC Radio One’s Teen Hero Awards. She styled the frock very similarly, nude heels and statement earrings, in silver.

    Kate’s back

The appearance at Southport was Kate’s first official working visit since completing chemotherapy. The community was shaken by the harrowing knife attack in July, where three children lost their lives, and ten others were seriously injured. It’s understood that William and Kate wanted to visit today to show their support to the three bereaved families, the first responders and the community of Southport.

    Princess Kate says chemotherapy over

London — Catherine, the Princess of Wales, says she has finished her course of chemotherapy and is doing well in a personal statement published by Kensington Palace on Monday. Princess Kate delivered the update on her health less than six months after announcing her cancer diagnosis

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” Kate said.

Though she has finished her treatment, Kate will still be focusing on making a full recovery and only be returning to a light program of public events and engagements.

“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” Kate said.

“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved. Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

Kate said that she appreciated the support her public had given her and her family.

“William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling. To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”

The announcement came alongside a video, which the palace said was shot in Norfolk in August.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

  • After a ‘Restful’ Summer, Royal Experts Say Kate Could Be Back to Work by This Date

After a ‘Restful’ Summer, Royal Experts Say Kate Could Be Back to Work by This Date

As summer comes to an end, royal watchers around the world are asking a familiar question—when is Kate Middleton coming back to work? The Princess of Wales has been out of the public eye since announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. But with the changing of the seasons, there are new hints that Kate might be preparing for a gradual comeback to public life.

Related: When Will Kate Middleton Return? Insiders Are Already Sharing This Date

According to recent reports, Kate’s recovery is progressing well, with sources close to the princess noting that her “good days” are becoming more frequent. While the road to full health is still ongoing, there’s a growing sense of optimism about her eventual return to royal duties.

The Sunday Times has suggested that Kate could make her public reappearance as soon as this fall. However, it’s important to note that no firm plans have been set in stone. A source familiar with the situation told the publication, “There is no set date for her return to official engagements.” They added, “She will not be rushed.”

One potential date being eyed for Kate’s return is November 10th, when the royal family traditionally gathers for the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph. This solemn occasion could provide an appropriate setting for the princess to rejoin her family in public, standing alongside King Charles, who is also continuing his own cancer treatment, and other senior royals.

However, royal insiders caution against expecting too much too soon. The princess will not be accompanying Prince William to the Earthshot Prize Awards, an event close to both their hearts, earlier in November. This decision underscores the measured approach being taken towards her reentry into public life.

On a more festive note, there are whispers of plans being made for Kate’s annual “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey. This televised event, which has become a cherished tradition, could mark a heartwarming return to the spotlight for the princess if her health permits.

Throughout her treatment, Kate has prioritized rest and family time. She spent a “restful” summer at Amner Hall in Norfolk, focusing on her recovery and spending quality time with Prince William and their children. A friend of the princess emphasized to The Times, “People know and understand it is a long journey to recovery. There is no expectation for her to rush back.”

Despite her absence from official duties, Kate has not been entirely out of the public eye. Just recently, she offered a tantalizing hint at her eventual return. Kensington Palace released a personal message from the princess welcoming Dwayne Fields as the new U.K. chief scout. In her characteristically warm style, Kate wrote, “Looking forward to working with you! C.”

While the exact timing of Kate Middleton’s work schedule remains uncertain, one thing is clear—the Princess of Wales will make her way back to royal duties when she’s ready, supported by her family and the well-wishes of a nation eagerly awaiting her healthy return.
